Let $(X_t)_{t\geq0}$ be the $n$-dimensional hyperbolic Brownian motion, that is the diffusion on the real hyperbolic space $\D^n$ having the Laplace-Beltrami operator as its generator. The aim of the paper is to derive the formulas for the Gegenbauer transform of the Poisson kernel and the Green function of the ball for the process $(X_t)_{t\geq0}$. Under some additional hypotheses we give the formulas for the Poisson kernel itself. In particular, we provide formulas in $\D^4$ and $\D^6$ spaces for the Poisson kernel and the Green function as well.
This paper studies, by employing analytical tools, the small time behavior of the heat content for the Poisson kernel over the unit ball in $\Rd$, $d\geq 2$ by working with its related set covariance function. As a result, we obtain a representation for the third term in the expansion of the heat content over the unit ball and provide the explicit form of the this term in the particular cases $d=2$ and $d=3$.
This paper develops the large deviations theory for the point process associated with the Euclidean volume of $k$-nearest neighbor balls centered around the points of a homogeneous Poisson or a binomial point processes in the unit cube. Two different types of large deviation behaviors of such point processes are investigated. Our first result is the Donsker-Varadhan large deviation principle, under the assumption that the centering terms for the volume of $k$-nearest neighbor balls grow to infinity more slowly than those needed for Poisson convergence. Additionally, we also study large deviati…
In this paper we study the existence of Green measures for Markov processes with a nonlocal jump generator. The jump generator has no second moment and satisfies a suitable condition on its Fourier transform. We also study the same problem for certain classes of random time changes Markov processes with jump generator.
In this article, we consider a configuration of weighted random balls in $\mathbb{R}^d$ generated according to a Poisson point process. The model investigated exhibits inhomogeneity, as well as dependence between the centers and the radii and heavy tails phenomena. We investigate the asymptotic behavior of the total mass of the configuration of the balls at a macroscopic level. Three different regimes appear depending on the intensity parameters and the zooming factor. Among the three limiting fields, two are stable while the third one is a Poisson integral bridging between the two stable regi…
The lilypond model on a point process in $d$-space is a growth-maximal system of non-overlapping balls centred at the points. We establish central limit theorems for the total volume and the number of components of the lilypond model on a sequence of Poisson or binomial point processes on expanding windows. For the lilypond model over a homogeneous Poisson process, we give subexponentially decaying tail bounds for the size of the cluster at the origin. Finally, we consider the enhanced Poisson lilypond model where all the balls are enlarged by a fixed amount (the enhancement parameter), and sh…
Let $X_1,\ldots,X_n$ be a sequence of independent random points in $\mathbb{R}^d$ with common Lebesgue density $f$. Under some conditions on $f$, we obtain a Poisson limit theorem, as $n \to \infty$, for the number of large probability $k$th-nearest neighbor balls of $X_1,\ldots,X_n$. Our result generalizes Theorem 2. of [10], which refers to the special case $k=1$. Our proof is completely different since it employs the Chen-Stein method instead of the method of moments. Moreover, we obtain a rate of convergence for the Poisson approximation.
We prove comparison theorems for small ball probabilities of the Green Gaussian processes in weighted $L_2$-norms. We find the sharp small ball asymptotics for many classical processes under quite general assumptions on the weight.
We study the number of visits to balls B_r(x), up to time t/mu(B_r(x)), for a class of non-uniformly hyperbolic dynamical systems, where mu is the SRB measure. Outside a set of `bad' centers x, we prove that this number is approximately Poissonnian with a controlled error term. In particular, when r-->0, we get convergence to the Poisson law for a set of centers of mu-measure one. Our theorem applies for instance to the Hénon attractor and, more generally, to systems modelled by a Young tower whose return-time function has a exponential tail and with one-dimensional unstable manifolds. Along t…
Consider a stationary Poisson process in a $d$-dimensional hyperbolic space. For $R>0$ define the point process $ξ_R^{(k)}$ of exceedance heights over a suitable threshold of the hyperbolic volumes of $k$th nearest neighbour balls centred around the points of the Poisson process within a hyperbolic ball of radius $R$ centred at a fixed point. The point process $ξ_R^{(k)}$ is compared to an inhomogeneous Poisson process on the real line with intensity function $e^{-u}$ and point process convergence in the Kantorovich-Rubinstein distance is shown. From this, a quantitative limit theorem for the …
We study a random field obtained by counting the number of balls containing each point, when overlapping balls are thrown at random according to a Poisson random measure. We are particularly interested in the local asymptotical self-similarity (lass) properties of the field, as well as the action of X-ray transforms. We discover two different lass properties when considering the asymptotic either "in law" or "on the second order moment" and prove a relationship between the lass behavior of the field and the lass behavior of its X-ray transform. We also describe a microscopic process which lead…
In this paper we study the existence phase transition of the random fractal ball model and the random fractal box model. We show that both of these are in the empty phase at the critical point of this phase transition.
For a measure mu supported on a compact connected subset of a Euclidean space which satisfies a uniform d-dimensional decay of the volume of balls we show that the maximal edge in the minimum spanning tree of n indepndent samples from mu is, with high probability (log n/n)^(1/d).
We consider the Poisson Boolean continuum percolation model in n-dimensional hyperbolic space. In 2 dimensions we show that there are intensities for the underlying Poisson process for which there are infinitely unbounded components in the covered and vacant regions. In n dimensions we show that if the radius of the balls are big enough, then there are intensities for the underlying Poisson process for which there are infinitely many unbounded components.
The purpose of this paper is to find optimal estimates for the Green function of a half-space of {\it the relativistic $α$-stable process} with parameter $m$ on $\Rd$ space. This process has an infinitesimal generator of the form $mI-(m^{2/α}I-Δ)^{α/2},$ where $0<α<2$, $m>0$, and reduces to the isotropic $α$-stable process for $m=0$. Its potential theory for open bounded sets has been well developed throughout the recent years however almost nothing was known about the behaviour of the process on unbounded sets. The present paper is intended to fill this gap and we provide two-sided sharp esti…
Let us suppose that we have a right continuous Markov semigroup on $R^d$, $d\ge 1$, such that its potential kernel is given by convolution with a function $G_0=g(|\cdot|)$, where $g$ is decreasing, has a mild lower decay property at zero, and a very weak decay property at infinity. This captures not only the Brownian semigroup (classical potential theory) and isotropic $α$-stable semigroups (Riesz potentials), but also more general isotropic Lévy processes, where the characteristic function has a certain lower scaling property, and various geometric stable processes. There always exists a corr…
We consider random walks among random conductances on $\mathbb{Z}^2$ and establish precise asymptotics for the associated potential kernel and the Green's function of the walk killed upon exiting balls. The result is proven for random walks on i.i.d. supercritical percolation clusters among ergodic degenerate conductances satisfying a moment condition. We also provide a similar result for the time-dynamic random conductance model. As an application we present a scaling limit for the variances in the Ginzburg-Landau $\nabla ϕ$-interface model.
From each point of a Poisson point process start growing a balloon at rate 1. When two balloons touch, they pop and disappear. Is every point contained in balloons infinitely often or not? We answer this for the Euclidean space, the hyperbolic plane and regular trees. The result for the Euclidean space relies on a novel 0-1 law for stationary processes. Towards establishing the results for the hyperbolic plane and regular trees, we prove an upper bound on the density of any well-separated set in a regular tree which is a factor of an i.i.d. process.
In the first part of this article, we prove two-sided estimates of hitting probabilities of balls, the potential kernel and the Green function for a ball for general isotropic unimodal Lévy processes. Our bounds are sharp under the absence of the Gaussian component and a mild regularity condition on the density of the Lévy measure: its radial profile needs to satisfy a scaling-type condition, which is equivalent to $O$-regular variation at zero and at infinity with lower indices greater than $-d - 2$. We also prove a supremum estimate and a regularity result for functions harmonic with respect…
Aldous has introduced a notion of scale-invariant random spatial network (SIRSN) as a mathematical formalization of road networks. Intuitively, those are random processes that assign a route between each pair of points in Euclidean space, while being invariant under rotation, translation, and change of scale, and such that the routes are not too long and mainly on "main roads". The only known example was somewhat artificial since invariance had to be added at the end of the construction. We prove that the network of geodesics in the random metric space generated by a Poisson line process marke…
