This paper contains detailed proofs of our results on the moduli space and the structure of noncommutative 3-spheres. We develop the notion of central quadratic form for quadratic algebras, and a general theory which creates a bridge between noncommutative differential geometry and its purely algebraic counterpart. It allows to construct a morphism from an involutive quadratic algebras to a C*-algebra constructed from the characteristic variety and the hermitian line bundle associated to the central quadratic form. We apply the general theory in the case of noncommutative 3-spheres and show that the above morphism corresponds to a natural ramified covering by a noncommutative 3-dimensional nilmanifold. We then compute the Jacobian of the ramified covering and obtain the answer as the product of a period (of an elliptic integral) by a rational function. We describe the real and complex moduli spaces of noncommutative 3-spheres, relate the real one to root systems and the complex one to the orbits of a birational cubic automorphism of three dimensional projective space. We classify the algebras and establish duality relations between them.
We introduce a formalism for derived moduli functors on differential graded associative algebras, which leads to non-commutative enhancements of derived moduli stacks and naturally gives rise to structures such as Hall algebras. Descent arguments are not available in the non-commutative context, so we establish new methods for constructing various kinds of atlases. The formalism permits the development of the theory of shifted bi-symplectic and shifted double Poisson structures in the companion paper.
A wide class of noncommutative spaces, including 4-spheres based on all the quantum 2-spheres and suspensions of matrix quantum groups is described. For each such space a noncommutative vector bundle is constructed. This generalises and clarifies various recent constructions of noncommutative 4-spheres.
It is shown that the non-commutative three-sphere introduced by Matsumoto is a total space of the quantum Hopf bundle over the classical two-sphere. A canonical connection is constructed, and is shown to coincide with the standard Dirac magnetic monopole.
We describe an efficient construction of a canonical non-commutative deformation of the algebraic functions on the moduli spaces of flat connections on a Riemann surface. We show that this algebra, which is a variant of the quantum moduli algebra introduced by Alekseev-Grosse-Schomerus and Buffenoir-Roche, has a trace functional which is related to the canonical trace in the formal index theory of Fedosov and Nest-Tsygan via the Verlinde formula.
We propose an explicit relation between the cohomology of compactified and noncompactified moduli spaces of algebraic curves with punctures. This relationship generalizes one between commutative algebras and Lie algebras proposed by Lazard, Kontsevich and Ginzburg and Kapranov. More explicitly, we show that the cohomology of one moduli space is the graph complex decorated with the cohomology of the other, which in its turn generalizes Getzler's result for the genus zero moduli. We also show that a certain class of algebras over the chain operad of compactified moduli spaces has a natural struc…
The non-commutative algebraic analog of the moduli of vector and covector fields is built. The structure of moduli of derivations of non-commutative algebras are studied. The canonical coupling is introduced and the conditions for appropriate moduli to be reflexive are obtained.
We study marginal and relevant supersymmetric deformations of the N=4 super-Yang-Mills theory in four dimensions. Our primary innovation is the interpretation of the moduli spaces of vacua of these theories as non-commutative spaces. The construction of these spaces relies on the representation theory of the related quantum algebras, which are obtained from F-term constraints. These field theories are dual to superstring theories propagating on deformations of the AdS_5xS^5 geometry. We study D-branes propagating in these vacua and introduce the appropriate notion of algebraic geometry for non…
We propose in this paper the construction of non-commutative Chern characters of the C*-algebras of spheres and quantum spheres. The final computation gives us a clear relation with the ordinary Z/(2)-graded Chern characters of tori or their normalizers.
Within the framework of complex supergeometry and motivated by two-dimensional genus-zero holomorphic N=2 superconformal field theory, we define the moduli space of N=2 super-Riemann spheres with oriented and ordered half-infinite tubes (or equivalently, oriented and ordered punctures, and local superconformal coordinates vanishing at the punctures), modulo N=2 superconformal equivalence. We develop a formal theory of infinitesimal N=2 superconformal transformations based on a representation of the N=2 Neveu-Schwarz algebra in terms of superderivations. In particular, via these infinitesimals …
These are expanded notes for a short course given at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata. They aim at giving a self-contained account of the results of Alain Connes and Michel Dubois--Violette.
We analyze the expansion of the fuzzy sphere non-commutative product in powers of the non-commutativity parameter. To analyze this expansion we develop a graphical technique that uses spin networks. This technique is potentially interesting in its own right as introducing spin networks of Penrose into non-commutative geometry. Our analysis leads to a clarification of the link between the fuzzy sphere non-commutative product and the usual deformation quantization of the sphere in terms of the star-product.
To some Hecke symmetries (i.e. Yang-Baxter braidings of Hecke type) we assign algebras called braided non-commutative spheres. For any such algebra, we introduce and compute a q-analog of the Chern-Connes index. Unlike the standard Chern-Connes index, ours is based on the so-called categorical trace specific for a braided category in which the algebra in question is represented.
We analyse the moduli space and the structure of noncommutative 3-spheres. We develop the notion of central quadratic form for quadratic algebras, and prove a general algebraic result which considerably refines the classical homomorphism from a quadratic algebra to a cross-product algebra associated to the characteristic variety and lands in a richer cross-product. It allows to control the $C^\ast$-norm on involutive quadratic algebras and to construct the differential calculus in the desired generality. The moduli space of noncommutative 3-spheres is identified with equivalence classes of pai…
We recall a construction of non-commutative algebras related to a one-parameter family of (deformed) spheres and tori, and show that in the case of tori, the *-algebras can be completed into C*-algebras isomorphic to the standard non-commutative torus. As the former was constructed in the context of matrix (or fuzzy) geometries, it provides an important link to the framework of non-commutative geometry, and opens up for a concrete way to study deformations of non-commutative tori. Furthermore, we show how the well-known fuzzy sphere and fuzzy torus can be obtained as formal scaling limits of f…
Following the guidelines of classical differential geometry the `building material' for the tensor calculus in non-commutative geometry is suggested. The algebraic account of moduli of vectors and covectors is carried out.
We suggest to compactify the universal covering of the moduli space of complex structures by non-commutative spaces. The latter are described by certain categories of sheaves with connections which are flat along foliations. In the case of abelian varieties this approach gives quantum tori as a non-commutative boundary of the moduli space. Relations to mirror symmetry, modular forms and deformation theory are discussed.
We study a pair of dual operads which arise in the study of moduli spaces of pointed genus 0 curves (this duality is similar to that between commutative and Lie algebras). These operads are both quadratic, and even Koszul, and arise in the theory of quantum cohomology.
We make explicit computations in the formal symplectic geometry of Kontsevich and determine the Euler characteristics of the three cases, namely commutative, Lie and associative ones, up to certain weights. From these, we obtain some non-triviality results in each case. In particular, we determine the integral Euler characteristics of the outer automorphism groups Out F_n of free groups for all n <= 10 and prove the existence of plenty of rational cohomology classes of odd degrees. We also clarify the relationship of the commutative graph homology with finite type invariants of homology 3-spher…
We give a non-commutative Positivstellensatz for CP^n: The (commutative) *-algebra of polynomials on the real algebraic set CP^n with the pointwise product can be realized by phase space reduction as the U(1)-invariant polynomials on C^{1+n}, restricted to the real (2n+1)-sphere inside C^{1+n}, and Schmüdgen's Positivstellensatz gives an algebraic description of the real-valued U(1)-invariant polynomials on CP^n that are strictly pointwise positive on the sphere. In analogy to this commutative case, we consider a non-commutative *-algebra of polynomials on C^{1+n}, the Weyl algebra, and give a…
We give simple explicit formulas for deformation quantization of Poisson-Lie groups and of similar Poisson manifolds which can be represented as moduli spaces of flat connections on surfaces. The star products depend on a choice of Drinfeľd associator and are obtained by applying certain monoidal functors (fusion and reduction) to commutative algebras in Drinfeľd categories. From a geometric point of view this construction can be understood as a quantization of the quasi-Poisson structures on moduli spaces of flat connections.
We construct a functor that associates to any dg cooperad of dg commutative algebras (satisfying some conditions) an augmented commutative algebra. When applied to the cohomology operad of Francis Brown's moduli spaces it produces an algebra that formally models the algebra of multiple zeta values. We prove that there is an injection from the graded dual of the Grothendieck-Teichmueller Lie algebra into the indecomposables of the algebra associated to the Gerstenhaber cooperad, and that there is a morphism from the algebra associated to Brown's moduli spaces to the algebra associated to the Ge…
Let $Σ$ be a finite type surface, and $G$ a complex algebraic simple Lie group with Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$. The quantum moduli algebra of $(Σ,G)$ is a quantization of the ring of functions of $X_G(Σ)$, the variety of $G$-characters of $π_1(Σ)$, introduced by Alekseev-Grosse-Schomerus and Buffenoir-Roche in the mid '90s. It can be realized as the invariant subalgebra of so-called graph algebras, which are $U_q(\mathfrak{g})$-module-algebras associated to graphs on $Σ$, where $U_q(\mathfrak{g})$ is the quantum group corresponding to $G$. We study the structure of the quantum moduli algebra i…
Studied are moduli spaces of self dual or anti-self dual connections on noncommutative 4-manifolds, especially deformation quantization of compact spin Riemannian 4-manifolds and their isometry groups have 2-torus subgroup. Then such moduli spaces of irreducible modules associated with highestweights of compact connected semisimple Lie groups are smooth manifolds with dimension determined by their weights. This is a generalization of Atiyah-Hitchin-Singer's classical result as well as Landi-Suijlekom's noncommutative 4-sphere case.
