The Levy transform of a Brownian motion B is the Brownian motion B't, the integral over (O,t) of sign of Bs with respect to dBs. Call T the corresponding transformation on the Wiener space W. We establish that a.s. the orbit of w in W under T is dense in W for the compact uniform convergence topology.
In this paper, we obtain explicit product and moment formulas for products of iterated integrals generated by families of square integrable martingales associated with an arbitrary Lévy process. We propose a new approach applying the theory of compensated-covariation stable families of martingales. Our main tool is a representation formula for products of elements of a compensated-covariation stable family, which enables to consider Lévy processes, with both jumps and Gaussian part.
A small ball problem and Chung's law of iterated logarithm for a hypoelliptic Brownian motion in Heisenberg group are proven. In addition, bounds on the limit in Chung's law are established.
Gonzalez Cazares and Ivanovs (2021) suggested a new method for "recovering" the Brownian motion component from the trajectory of a Levy process that required sampling from an independent Brownian motion process. We show that such a procedure works equally well without any additional source of randomness if one uses normal quantiles instead of the ordered increments of the auxiliary Brownian motion process.
We extend generalized isoperimetric-type inequalities to iterated Brownian motion over several domains in $\RR{R}^{n}$. These kinds of inequalities imply in particular that for domains of finite volume, the exit distribution and moments of the first exit time for iterated Brownian motion are maximized with the ball $D^{*}$ centered at the origin, which has the same volume as $D$
In this article, we show that the Brownian motion on the circle constructed in Levy (1959) is a regular Euclidean Brownian motion on the half-circle with its own mirror image on the other half-circle, and is degenerated in the sense of Minlos (1959). This raises the question of what the white noise is on the circle. We then formally define the white noise space and its associated Brownian bridge.
We study the distribution of the exit place of iterated Brownian motion in a cone, obtaining information about the chance of the exit place having large magnitude. Along the way, we determine the joint distribution of the exit time and exit place of Brownian motion in a cone. This yields information on large values of the exit place (harmonic measure) for Brownian motion. The harmonic measure for cones has been studied by many authors for many years. Our results are sharper than any previously obtained
By taking a functional analytic point of view, we consider a family of distributions (continuous linear functionals on smooth functions), denoted by $\{μ_t,t>0\}$, associated to the law of iterated logarithm for Brownian motion on a compact manifold. We give a complete characterization of the collection of limiting distributions of $\{μ_t, t>0\}$.
Suppose a solid has a crack filled with a gas. If the crack reaches the surrounding medium, how long does it take the gas to diffuse out of the crack? Iterated Brownian motion serves as a model for diffusion in a crack. If τis the first exit time of iterated Brownian motion from the solid, then P(τ>t) can be viewed as a measurement of the amount of contaminant left in the crack at time t. We determine the large time asymptotics of P(τ>t) for both bounded and unbounded sets. We also discuss a strange connection between iterated Brownian motion and the parabolic operator {1/8}Δ^2-\frac{\partial}…
In this article we are interested in the regularity properties of the probability measure induced by the solution process of the Lévy noise or a fractional Brownian motion driven Navier Stokes Equation on the two dimensional torus $\mathbb{T}$. We mainly investigate under which conditions on the characteristic measure of the Lévy process or the Hurst parameter of the fractal Brownian motion the law of the projection of $u(t)$ onto any finite dimensional $F\subset L^2(\mathbb{T})$ is absolutely continuous with respect to the Lebesgue measure on $F$.
We characterize the asymptotic behaviour of the weighted power variation processes associated with iterated Brownian motion. We prove weak convergence results in the sense of finite dimensional distributions, and show that the laws of the limiting objects can always be expressed in terms of three independent Brownian motions X, Y and B, as well as of the local times of Y. In particular, our results involve ``weighted'' versions of Kesten and Spitzer's Brownian motion in random scenery. Our findings extend the theory initiated by Khoshnevisan and Lewis (1999), and should be compared with the re…
Let $B=(B^{(1)},B^{(2)})$ be a two-dimensional fractional Brownian motion with Hurst index $α\in (0,1/4)$. Using an analytic approximation $B(η)$ of $B$ introduced in \cite{Unt08}, we prove that the rescaled Lévy area process $(s,t)\to η^{\half(1-4α)}\int_s^t dB_{t_1}^{(1)}(η) \int_s^{t_1} dB_{t_2}^{(2)}(η)$ converges in law to $W_t-W_s$ where $W$ is a Brownian motion independent from $B$. The method relies on a very general scheme of analysis of singularities of analytic functions, applied to the moments of finite-dimensional distributions of the Lévy area.
In this article, we study the numerical approximation of stochastic differential equations driven by a multidimensional fractional Brownian motion (fBm) with Hurst parameter greater than 1/3. We introduce an implementable scheme for these equations, which is based on a second order Taylor expansion, where the usual Levy area terms are replaced by products of increments of the driving fBm. The convergence of our scheme is shown by means of a combination of rough paths techniques and error bounds for the discretisation of the Levy area terms.
Assume that $X$ is a continuous square integrable process with zero mean, defined on some probability space $(Ω,\mathrm {F},\mathrm {P})$. The classical characterization due to P. Lévy says that $X$ is a Brownian motion if and only if $X$ and $X_t^2-t$, $t\ge0,$ are martingales with respect to the intrinsic filtration $\mathrm {F}^X$. We extend this result to fractional Brownian motion.
We provide a simple algorithm for construction of Brownian paths approximating those of a Lévy process on a finite time interval. It requires knowledge of the Lévy process trajectory on a chosen regular grid and the law of its endpoint, or the ability to simulate from that. This algorithm is based on reordering of Brownian increments, and it can be applied in a recursive manner. We establish an upper bound on the mean squared maximal distance between the paths and determine a suitable mesh size in various asymptotic regimes. The analysis proceeds by reduction to the comonotonic coupling of inc…
It is shown how to construct a successful co-adapted coupling of two copies of an $n$-dimensional Brownian motion $(B_1,...,B_n)$ while simultaneously coupling all corresponding copies of Lévy stochastic areas $\int B_i dB_j-\int B_j dB_i$. It is conjectured that successful co-adapted couplings still exist when the Lévy stochastic areas are replaced by a finite set of multiply iterated path- and time-integrals, subject to algebraic compatibility of the initial conditions.
In this paper we consider the iterated Brownian motion $ ^{μ_1}_{μ_2}\!I(t) = B_1^{μ_1} ( | B_{2}^{μ_2} (t)|) $ where $B_j^{μ_j} , j=1,2$ are two independent Brownian motions with drift $μ_j$. Here we study the last zero crossing of $ ^{μ_1}_{μ_2}\!I(t) $ and for this purpose we derive the last zero-crossing distribution of the drifted Brownian motion. We derive also the joint distribution of the last zero crossing before $ t $ and of the first passage time through the zero level of a Brownian motion with drift $ μ$ after $ t $. All these results permit us to derive explicit formulas for ${^I_…
We construct optimal Markov couplings of Lévy processes, whose Lévy (jump) measure has an absolutely continuous component. The construction is based on properties of subordinate Brownian motions and the coupling of Brownian motions by reflection.
Let $τ_{D}(Z) $ is the first exit time of iterated Brownian motion from a domain $D \subset \RR{R}^{n}$ started at $z\in D$ and let $P_{z}[τ_{D}(Z) >t]$ be its distribution. In this paper we establish the exact asymptotics of $P_{z}[τ_{D}(Z) >t]$ over bounded domains as an extension of the result in DeBlassie \cite{deblassie}, for $z\in D$ $$ P_{z}[τ_{D}(Z)>t]\approx t^{1/2} \exp(-{3/2}π^{2/3}λ_{D}^{2/3}t^{1/3}), as t\to\infty . $$ We also study asymptotics of the life time of Brownian-time Brownian motion (BTBM), $Z^{1}_{t}=z+X(Y(t))$, where $X_{t}$ and $Y_{t}$ are independent one-dimensional…
We present a simple construction method for Feller processes and a framework for the generation of sample paths of Feller processes. The construction is based on state space dependent mixing of Lévy processes. Brownian Motion is one of the most frequently used continuous time Markov processes in applications. In recent years also Lévy processes, of which Brownian Motion is a special case, have become increasingly popular. Lévy processes are spatially homogeneous, but empirical data often suggest the use of spatially inhomogeneous processes. Thus it seems necessary to go to the next level of ge…
Motivated by recent studies of record statistics in relation to strongly correlated time series, we consider explicitly the drawdown time of a Levy process, which is defined as the time since it last achieved its running maximum when observed over a fixed time period [0,T]. We show that the density function of this drawdown time, in the case of a completely asymmetric jump process, may be factored as a function of $t$ multiplied by a function of T-t. This extends a known result for the case of pure Brownian motion. We state the factors explicitly for the cases of exponential down-jumps with dr…
We derive general results on the small deviation behavior for some classes of iterated processes. This allows us, in particular, to calculate the rate of the small deviations for $n$-iterated Brownian motions and, more generally, for the iteration of $n$ fractional Brownian motions. We also give a new and correct proof of some results in E. Nane, Laws of the iterated logarithm for $α$-time Brownian motion, Electron. J. Probab. 11 (2006), no. 18, 434--459.
Lévy's stochastic area for planar Brownian motion is the difference of two iterated integrals of second rank against its component one-dimen\-sional Brownian motions. Such iterated integrals can be multiplied using the sticky shuffle product determined by the underlying Itô algebra of stochastic differentials. We use combinatorial enumerations that arise from the distributive law in the corresponding Hopf algebra structure to evaluate the moments of Lévy's area. These Lévy moments are well known to be given essentially by the Euler numbers. This has recently been confirmed in a novel combinato…
We study a family of quantum analogs of Lévy's stochastic area for planar Brownian motion depending on a variance parameter $σ\geq 1$ which deform to the classical Lévy area as $σ\rightarrow\infty$. They are defined as second rank iterated stochastic integrals against the components of planar Brownian motion, which are one-dimensional Brownian motions satisfying Heisnberg-type commutation relations. Such iterated integrals can be multiplied using the sticky shuffle product determined by the underlying Itô algebra of stochastic differentials. We use the corresponding Hopf algebra structure to e…
Fractional Brownian motion can be represented as an integral of a deterministic kernel w.r.t. an ordinary Brownian motion either on infinite or compact interval. In previous literature fractional Lévy processes are defined by integrating the infinite interval kernel w.r.t. a general Lévy process. In this article we define fractional Lévy processes using the compact interval representation. We prove that the fractional Lévy processes presented via different integral transformations have the same finite dimensional distributions if and only if they are fractional Brownian motions. Also, we prese…
In this paper we investigate the argmin process of Brownian motion $B$ defined by $α_t:=\sup\left\{s \in [0,1]: B_{t+s}=\min_{u \in [0,1]}B_{t+u} \right\}$ for $t \geq 0$. The argmin process $α$ is stationary, with invariant measure which is arcsine distributed. We prove that $(α_t; t \geq 0)$ is a Markov process with the Feller property, and provide its transition kernel $Q_t(x,\cdot)$ for $t>0$ and $x \in [0,1]$. Similar results for the argmin process of random walks and Lévy processes are derived. We also consider Brownian extrema of a given length. We prove that these extrema form a delayed…
We show that exact sampling of the first passage event can be done for a Levy process with unbounded variation, if the process can be embedded in a subordinated standard Brownian motion. By sampling a series of first exit events of the Brownian motion and first passage events of the subordinator, the first passage event of interest can be obtained. The sampling of the first exit time and pre-exit location of the Brownian motion may be of independent interest.
We introduce a class of iterated processes called $α$-time Brownian motion for $0<α\leq 2$. These are obtained by taking Brownian motion and replacing the time parameter with a symmetric $α$-stable process. We prove a Chung-type law of the iterated logarithm (LIL) for these processes which is a generalization of LIL proved in \cite{hu} for iterated Brownian motion. When $α=1$ it takes the following form $$ \liminf_{T\to\infty}T^{-1/2}(\log \log T) \sup_{0\leq t\leq T}|Z_{t}|=π^{2}\sqrt{λ_{1}} a.s. $$ where $λ_{1}$ is the first eigenvalue for the Cauchy process in the interval $[-1,1].$ We also…
For a real càdlàg function $f$ defined on a compact interval, its truncated variation at the level $c>0$ is the infimum of total variations of functions uniformly approximating $f$ with accuracy $c/2$ and (in opposite to the total variation) is always finite. In this paper, we discuss exponential integrability and concentration properties of the truncated variation of fractional Brownian motions, diffusions and Lévy processes. We develop a special technique based on chaining approach and using it we prove Gaussian concentration of the truncated variation for certain class of diffusions. Furthe…
We give meaning to differential equations with a rough path term and a Brownian noise term as driving signals. Such differential equations as well as the question of regularity of the solution map arise naturally and we discuss two applications: one revisits Clark's robustness problem in nonlinear filtering, the other is a Feynman--Kac type representation of linear RPDEs. En passant, we give a short and direct argument that implies integrability estimates for rough differential equations with Gaussian driving signals which is of independent interest.
Consider the $n$th iterated Brownian motion $I^{(n)}=B_n \circ\cdots \circ B_1$. Curien and Konstantopoulos proved that for any distinct numbers $t_i\neq 0$, $(I^{(n)}(t_1),\dots,I^{(n)}(t_k))$ converges in distribution to a limit $I[k]$ independent of the $t_i$'s, exchangeable, and gave some elements on the limit occupation measure of $I^{(n)}$. Here, we prove under some conditions, finite dimensional distributions of $n$th iterated two-sided stable processes converge, and the same holds the reflected Brownian motions. We give a description of the law of $I[k]$, of the finite dimensional dist…
Let $τ_{D}(Z) $ be the first exit time of iterated Brownian motion from a domain $D \subset \RR{R}^{n}$ started at $z\in D$ and let $P_{z}[τ_{D}(Z) >t]$ be its distribution. In this paper we establish the exact asymptotics of $P_{z}[τ_{D}(Z) >t]$ over bounded domains as an improvement of the results in \cite{deblassie, nane2}, for $z\in D$ \begin{eqnarray} \lim_{t\to\infty} t^{-1/2}\exp({3/2}π^{2/3}λ_{D}^{2/3}t^{1/3}) P_{z}[τ_{D}(Z)>t]= C(z),\nonumber \end{eqnarray} where $C(z)=(λ_{D}2^{7/2})/\sqrt{3 π}(ψ(z)\int_{D}ψ(y)dy) ^{2}$. Here $λ_{D}$ is the first eigenvalue of the Dirichlet Laplacian …
The skew Brownian motion is a strong Markov process which behaves like a Brownian motion until hitting zero and exhibits an asymmetry at zero. We address the following question: what is a natural counterpart of the skew Brownian motion in the situation that the noise is a stable Lévy process with finite mean and infinite variance. We define a skew stable Lévy process $X$ as the limit of a sequence of stable Lévy processes which are perturbed at zero. We point out a formula for the resolvent of $X$ and show that $X$ is a solution to a stochastic differential equation with a local time. Also, we…
Iterated Brownian motion $Z_{t}$ serves as a physical model for diffusions in a crack. If $τ_{D}(Z) $ is the first exit time of this processes from a domain $D \subset \RR{R}^{n}$, started at $z\in D$, then $P_{z}[τ_{D}(Z)>t]$ is the distribution of the lifetime of the process in $D$. In this paper we determine the large time asymptotics of $P_{z}[τ_{P_α}(Z) > t]$ which gives exponential integrability of $τ_{P_α}(Z) $ for parabola-shaped domains of the form $ P_α=\{(x,Y)\in \RR{R} \times \RR{R}^{n-1}: x>0, |Y|<Ax^α \}$, for $ 0<α<1$, $A>0.$ We also obtain similar results for twisted domains in…
The classical law of the iterated logarithm (LIL for short)as fundamental limit theorems in probability theory play an important role in the development of probability theory and its applications. Strassen (1964) extended LIL to large classes of functional random variables, it is well known as the invariance principle for LIL which provide an extremely powerful tool in probability and statistical inference. But recently many phenomena show that the linearity of probability is a limit for applications, for example in finance, statistics. As while a nonlinear expectation--- G-expectation has att…
The main tool for stochastic calculus with respect to a multidimensional process $B$ with small Hölder regularity index is rough path theory. Once $B$ has been lifted to a rough path, a stochastic calculus -- as well as solutions to stochastic differential equations driven by $B$ -- follow by standard arguments. Although such a lift has been proved to exist by abstract arguments \cite{LyoVic07}, a first general, explicit construction has been proposed in \cite{Unt09,Unt09bis} under the name of Fourier normal ordering. The purpose of this short note is to convey the main ideas of the Fourier no…
We re-examine the celebrated Doob--McKean identity that identifies a conditioned one-dimensional Brownian motion as the radial part of a 3-dimensional Brownian motion or, equivalently, a Bessel-3 process, albeit now in the analogous setting of isotropic $α$-stable processes. We find a natural analogue that matches the Brownian setting, with the role of the Brownian motion replaced by that of the isotropic $α$-stable process, providing one interprets the components of the original identity in the right way.
This paper considers the class of Lévy processes that can be written as a Brownian motion time changed by an independent Lévy subordinator. Examples in this class include the variance gamma model, the normal inverse Gaussian model, and other processes popular in financial modeling. The question addressed is the precise relation between the standard first passage time and an alternative notion, which we call first passage of the second kind, as suggested by Hurd (2007) and others. We are able to prove that standard first passage time is the almost sure limit of iterations of first passage of th…
Let $X=\{X(t), t\geq 0\}$ be a Brownian motion or a spectrally negative stable process of index $1<\a<2$. Let $E=\{E(t),t\geq 0\}$ be the hitting time of a stable subordinator of index $0<β<1$ independent of $X$. We use a connection between $X(E(t))$ and the stable subordinator of index $β/\a$ to derive information on the path behavior of $X(E_t)$. This is an extension of the connection of iterated Brownian motion and (1/4)-stable subordinator due to Bertoin \cite{bertoin}. Using this connection, we obtain various laws of the iterated logarithm for $X(E(t))$. In particular, we establish law of…
This paper provides a multivariate extension of Bertoin's pathwise construction of a Lévy process conditioned to stay positive/negative. Thus obtained processes conditioned to stay in half-spaces are closely related to the original process on a compact time interval seen from its directional extremal points. In the case of a correlated Brownian motion the law of the conditioned process is obtained by a linear transformation of a standard Brownian motion and an independent Bessel-3 process. Further motivation is provided by a limit theorem corresponding to zooming in on a Lévy process with a Br…
Let $(B(t))_{t\in [0,1]}$ be the linear Brownian motion and $(X_n(t))_{t\in [0,1]}$ be the $(n-1)$-fold integral of Brownian motion, $n$ being a positive integer: $$ X_n(t)=\int_0^t \frac{(t-s)^{n-1}}{(n-1)!} \,\dd B(s) for any $t\in[0,1]$. $$ In this paper we construct several bridges between times 0 and 1 of the process $(X_n(t))_{t\in [0,1]}$ involving conditions on the successive derivatives of $X_n$ at times 0 and 1. For this family of bridges, we make a correspondance with certain boundary value problems related to the one-dimensional polyharmonic operator. We also study the classical pr…
We construct in this article a rough path over fractional Brownian motion with arbitrary Hurst index by (i) using the Fourier normal ordering algorithm introduced in \cite{Unt-Holder} to reduce the problem to that of regularizing tree iterated integrals and (ii) applying the Bogolioubov-Parasiuk-Hepp-Zimmermann (BPHZ) renormalization algorithm to Feynman diagrams representing tree iterated integrals.
We show that the construction of a random continuum $\mathcal{C}$ from independent two-sided Brownian motions as considered in arXiv:2004.01367 almost surely yields a non-degenerate indecomposable but not-hereditary indecomposable continuum. In particular $\mathcal{C}$ is (unfortunately) not the pseudo-arc.
Let $X=\{X_t, t\ge0\}$ be a càdlàg Lévy process, centered, with moments of all orders. There are two families of orthogonal polynomials associated with $X$. On one hand, the Kailath--Segall formula gives the relationship between the iterated integrals and the variations of order $n$ of $X$, and defines a family of polynomials $P_1(x_1), P_2(x_1,x_2),...$ that are orthogonal with respect to the joint law of the variations of $X$. On the other hand, we can construct a sequence of orthogonal polynomials $p^σ_n(x)$ with respect to the measure $σ^2δ_0(dx)+x^2 ν(dx)$, where $σ^2$ is the variance of …
Let $B=(B_1(t),\ldots,B_d(t))$ be a $d$-dimensional fractional Brownian motion with Hurst index $α<1/4$. Defining properly iterated integrals of $B$ is a difficult task because of the low Hölder regularity index of its paths. Yet rough path theory shows it is the key to the construction of a stochastic calculus with respect to $B$, or to solving differential equations driven by $B$. We show in this paper how to obtain second-order iterated integrals as the limit when the ultra-violet cut-off goes to infinity of iterated integrals of weakly interacting fields defined using the tools of construc…

For a random walk defined for a doubly infinite sequence of times, we let the time parameter itself be an integer-valued process, and call the orginal process a random walk at random time. We find the scaling limit which generalizes the so-called iterated Brownian motion. Khoshnevisan and Lewis [Ann. Appl. Probab. 9 (1999) 629-667] suggested "the existence of a form of measure-theoretic duality" between iterated Brownian motion and a Brownian motion in random scenery. We show that a random walk at random time can be considered a random walk in "alternating" scenery, thus hinting at a mechanism…
We exhibit some explicit co-adapted couplings for n-dimensional Brownian motion and all its Levy stochastic areas. In the two-dimensional case we show how to derive exact asymptotics for the coupling time under various mixed coupling strategies, using Dufresne's formula for the distribution of exponential functionals of Brownian motion. This yields quantitative asymptotics for the distributions of random times required for certain simultaneous couplings of stochastic area and Brownian motion. The approach also applies to higher dimensions, but will then lead to upper and lower bounds rather th…
We are concerned with homogenization of stochastic differential equations (SDE) with stationary coefficients driven by Poisson random measures and Brownian motions in the critical case, that is when the limiting equation admits both a Brownian part as well as a pure jump part. We state an annealed convergence theorem. This problem is deeply connected with homogenization of integral partial differential equations
For $α> 0$, the $α$-Lipschitz minorant of a function $f: \mathbb{R} \to \mathbb{R}$ is the greatest function $m : \mathbb{R} \to \mathbb{R}$ such that $m \leq f$ and $|m(s)-m(t)| \le α|s-t|$ for all $s,t \in \mathbb{R}$, should such a function exist. If $X=(X_t)_{t \in \mathbb{R}}$ is a real-valued Lévy process that is not pure linear drift with slope $\pm α$, then the sample paths of $X$ have an $α$-Lipschitz minorant almost surely if and only if $| \mathbb{E}[X_1] | < α$. Denoting the minorant by $M$, we investigate properties of the random closed set $\mathcal{Z} := {t \in \mathbb{R} : M_t …
We construct an iterated stochastic integral with fractional Brownian motion with H > 1/2. The first integrand is a deterministic function, and each successive integral is with respect to an independent fBm. We show that this symmetric stochastic integral is equal to the Malliavin divergence integral. By a version of the Fourth Moment theorem of Nualart and Peccati, we show that a family of such integrals converges in distribution to a scaled Brownian motion. An application is an approximation to the windings for a planar fBm, previously studied by Baudoin and Nualart.
We discuss subordination of random compact R-trees. We focus on the case of the Brownian tree, where the subordination function is given by the past maximum process of Brownian motion indexed by the tree. In that particular case, the subordinate tree is identified as a stable Levy tree with index 3/2. As a more precise alternative formulation, we show that the maximum process of the Brownian snake is a time change of the height process coding the Levy tree. We then apply our results to properties of the Brownian map. In particular, we recover, in a more precise form, a recent result of Miller …
A new algorithm for the approximation and simulation of twofold iterated stochastic integrals together with the corresponding Lévy areas driven by a multidimensional Brownian motion is proposed. The algorithm is based on a truncated Fourier series approach. However, the approximation of the remainder terms differs from the approach considered by Wiktrosson (2001). As the main advantage, the presented algorithm makes use of a diagonal covariance matrix for the approximation of one part of the remainder term and has a higher accuracy due to an exact approximation of the other part of the remaind…
We investigate positive definiteness of the Brownian kernel K(x,y)=1/2(d(x,x_0) + d(y,x_0) - d(x,y)) on a compact group G and in particular for G=SO(n).
The search for hidden targets is a fundamental problem in many areas of science, engineering, and other fields. Studies of search processes often adopt a probabilistic framework, in which a searcher randomly explores a spatial domain for a randomly located target. There has been significant interest and controversy regarding optimal search strategies, especially for superdiffusive processes. The optimal search strategy is typically defined as the strategy that minimizes the time it takes a given single searcher to find a target, which is called a first hitting time (FHT). However, many systems…
It is well known that freeness appears in the high-dimensional limit of independence for matrices. Thus, for instance, the additive free Brownian motion can be seen as the limit of the Brownian motion on hermitian matrices. More generally, it is quite natural to try to build free Lévy processes as high-dimensional limits of classical matricial Lévy processes. We will focus here on one specific such construction, discussing and generalizing a work done previously by Biane, who has shown that the (classical) Brownian motion on the Unitary group U\left(d\right) converges to the free multiplicativ…
Using structures of Abstract Wiener Spaces, we define a fractional Brownian field indexed by a product space $(0,1/2] \times L^2(T,m)$, $(T,m)$ a separable measure space, where the first coordinate corresponds to the Hurst parameter of fractional Brownian motion. This field encompasses a large class of existing fractional Brownian processes, such as Lévy fractional Brownian motions and multiparameter fractional Brownian motions, and provides a setup for new ones. We prove that it has satisfactory incremental variance in both coordinates and derive certain continuity and Hölder regularity prope…
