We generalize the results of Ksavrelof and Zeng about the multidistribution of the excedance number of $S_n$ with some natural parameters to the colored permutation group and to the Coxeter group of type $D$. We define two different orders on these groups which induce two different excedance numbers. Surprisingly, in the case of the colored permutation group, we get the same generalized formulas for both orders.
We consider several generalizations of the classical $γ$-positivity of Eulerian polynomials (and their derangement analogues) using generating functions and combinatorial theory of continued fractions. For the symmetric group, we prove an expansion formula for inversions and excedances as well as a similar expansion for derangements. We also prove the $γ$-positivity for Eulerian polynomials for derangements of type $B$. More general expansion formulae are also given for Eulerian polynomials for $r$-colored derangements. We define the excedence set and the excedance word on $G_{r,n}$, generalizing a work of Ehrenborg and Steingrimsson and use the inclusion-exclusion principle to calculate the number of colored permutations having a prescribed excedance word. We show some symmetric properties as Log concavity and unimodality of a specific sequence of excedance words.
Recently, Bagno, Garber and Mansour studied a kind of excedance number on the complex reflection groups and computed its multidistribution with the number of fixed points on the set of involutions in these groups. In this note, we consider the similar problems in more general cases and make a correction of one result obtained by them.
Starting from some considerations we make about the relations between certain difference statistics and the classical permutation statistics we study permutations whose inversion number and excedance difference coincide. In this paper we prove that among the permutations of length n with i fixed points and j excedances, the number of 321-avoiding ones equals the number of 132-avoiding ones, for all given i,j<=n. We use a new technique involving diagonals of non-rational generating functions. This theorem generalizes a recent result of Robertson, Saracino and Zeilberger, for which we also give another, more direct proof.
A formula of Stembridge states that the permutation peak polynomials and descent polynomials are connected via a quadratique transformation. The aim of this paper is to establish the cycle analogue of Stembridge's formula by using cycle peaks and excedances of permutations. We consider a sequence of four variable polynomials by refining Stieltjes' continued fraction for Eulerian polynomials. Using combinatorial theory of Jacobi-type continued fractions and bijections we derive various combinatorial interpretations in terms of permutation statistics for these polynomials, which include special kinds of descents and excedances in a recent paper of Baril and Kirgizov. The excedance number for S_n is known to have an Eulerian distribution. Nevertheless, the classical proof uses descents rather than excedances. We present a direct recursive proof which seems to be folklore and extend it to the colored permutation groups G_r,n. The generalized recursion yields some interesting connection to Stirling numbers of the second kind. We also show some logconcavity result concerning a variant of the excedance number. Finally, we show that the generating function of the excedance number defined on G_r,n is symmetric.
We study the distribution of the statistics 'number of fixed points' and 'number of excedances' in permutations avoiding subsets of patterns of length 3. We solve all the cases of simultaneous avoidance of more than one pattern, giving generating functions enumerating these two statistics. Some cases are generalized to patterns of arbitrary length. Recently, Hyatt introduced some colored Eulerian quasisymmetric function to study the joint distribution of excedance number and major index on colored permutation groups. Answering a question of Clark and Ehrenborg (2010), we determine asymptotics for the number of permutations of size n that admit the most common excedance set. In fact, we provide a more general bivariate asymptotic using the multivariate asymptotic methods of R. Pemantle and M. C. Wilson. We also consider two applications of our main result. First, we determine asymptotics on the number of permutations of size n which simultaneously avoid the generalized patterns 21-34 and 34-21. Second, we determine asymptotics on the number of n-cycles that admit no stretching pairs.
In this research announcement we present a new q-analog of a classical formula for the exponential generating function of the Eulerian polynomials. The Eulerian polynomials enumerate permutations according to their number of descents or their number of excedances. Our q-Eulerian polynomials are the enumerators for the joint distribution of the excedance statistic and the major index. A pure excedance in a permutation $π=π_1π_2\ldots π_n$ is a position $i<π_i$ such that there is no $j<i$ with $i\leq π_j<π_i$. We present a one-to-one correspondence on the symmetric group that transports pure excedances to descents of special kind. As a byproduct, we prove that the popularity of pure excedances equals those of pure descents on permutations, while their distributions are different.

We define an excedance number for the multi-colored permutation group, i.e. the wreath product of Z_{r_1} x ... x Z_{r_k} with S_n, and calculate its multi-distribution with some natural parameters. We also compute the multi-distribution of the parameters exc(pi) and fix(pi) over the sets of involutions in the multi-colored permutation group. Using this, we count the number of involutions in this group having a fixed number of excedances and absolute fixed points.
In this paper we introduce and study a class of tableaux which we call permutation tableaux; these tableaux are naturally in bijection with permutations, and they are a distinguished subset of the Le-diagrams of Alex Postnikov. The structure of these tableaux is in some ways more transparent than the structure of permutations; therefore we believe that permutation tableaux will be useful in furthering the understanding of permutations. The derangement polynomial for the symmetric group enumerates derangements by the number of excedances. It can be interpreted as the local $h$-polynomial, in the sense of Stanley, of the barycentric subdivision of the simplex. Motivated by this interpretation, we define a derangement polynomial for the even-signed permutation group. The coefficients of this polynomial are nonnegative, symmetric and unimodal. The classical Eulerian Numbers $A_{n,k}$ are known to be log-concave. Let $P_{n,k}$ and $Q_{n,k}$ be the number of even and odd permutations with $k$ excedances. In this paper, we show that $P_{n,k}$ and $Q_{n,k}$ are log-concave. For this, we introduce the notion of strong synchronisation and ratio-alternating which are motivated by the notion of synchronisation and ratio-dominance, introduced by Gross, Mansour, Tucker and Wang in 2014. We present a bijection between 321- and 132-avoiding permutations that preserves the number of fixed points and the number of excedances. This gives a simple combinatorial proof of recent results of Robertson, Saracino and Zeilberger, and the first author. We also show that our bijection preserves additional statistics, which extends the previous results.
Permutation tableaux are combinatorial objects related with permutations and various statistics on them. They appeared in connection with total positivity in Grassmannians, and stationary probabilities in a PASEP model. In particular they gave rise to an interesting q-analog of Eulerian numbers. We extend Stanley's work on alternating permutations with extremal number of fixed points in two directions: first, alternating permutations are replaced by permutations with a prescribed descent set; second, instead of simply counting permutations we study their generating polynomials by number of excedances. Several techniques are used: Desarmenien's desarrangement combinatorics, Gessel's hook-factorization and the analytical properties of two new permutation statistics "DEZ" and "lec". Explicit formulas for the maximal case are derived by using symmetric function tools.

In the paper Graphical complexity of products of permutation groups, M. Grech, A. Jez, A. Kisielewicz have proved that the direct product of automorphism groups of edge-colored graphs is itself the automorphism groups of an edge-colored graph. In this paper, we study the direct product of two permutation groups such that at least one of them fails to be the automorphism group of an edge-colored graph. We find necessary and sufficient conditions for the direct product to be the automorphism group of an edge-colored graph. The same problem is solved for the edge-colored digraphs.

Binomial Eulerian polynomials first appeared in work of Postnikov, Reiner and Williams on the face enumeration of generalized permutohedra. They are $γ$-positive (in particular, palindromic and unimodal) polynomials which can be interpreted as $h$-polynomials of certain flag simplicial polytopes and which admit interesting Schur $γ$-positive symmetric function generalizations. This paper introduces analogues of these polynomials for $r$-colored permutations with similar properties and uncovers some new instances of equivariant $γ$-positivity in geometric combinatorics.

Using a new colored analogue of P-partitions, we prove the existence of a colored Eulerian descent algebra which is a subalgebra of the Mantaci-Reutenauer algebra. We then present an involution on Stirling derangements. Furthermore, we present a symmetric bivariate enumerative polynomials on $r$-colored marked permutations. The limit distribution function is a power of that for usual random permutations computed recently by Baik, Deift, and Johansson (math.CO/9810105). A four-variable distribution on permutations is derived, with two dual combinatorial interpretations. The first one includes the number of fixed points "fix", the second the so-called "pix" statistic. This shows that the duality between derangements and desarrangements can be extended to the case of multivariable statistics. The group of alternating colored permutations is the natural analogue of the classical alternating group, inside the wreath product $\mathbb{Z}_r \wr S_n$. We present a 'Coxeter-like' presentation for this group and compute the length function with respect to that presentation. Then, we present this group as a covering of $\mathbb{Z}_{\frac{r}{2}} \wr S_n$ and use this point of view to give another expression for the length function. We also use this covering to lift several known parameters of $\mathbb{Z}_{\frac{r}{2}} \wr S_n$ to the group of alternating colored permutations.
We introduce the concept of complete edge-colored permutation graphs as complete graphs that are the edge-disjoint union of "classical" permutation graphs. We show that a graph $G=(V,E)$ is a complete edge-colored permutation graph if and only if each monochromatic subgraph of $G$ is a "classical" permutation graph and $G$ does not contain a triangle with~$3$ different colors. We find a combinatorial setting for the coefficients of the Boros-Moll polynomials $P_m(a)$ in terms of partially 2-colored permutations. Using this model, we give a combinatorial proof of a recurrence relation on the coefficients of $P_m(a)$. This approach enables us to give a combinatorial interpretation of the log-concavity of $P_m(a)$ which was conjectured by Moll and confirmed by Kauers and Paule.
Despite the fact that the field of pattern avoiding permutations has been skyrocketing over the last two decades, there are very few exhaustive generating algorithms for such classes of permutations.
