We introduce a quasi-symmetry invariant of a metric space Z called the capacity dimension. Our main result says that for a visual Gromov hyperbolic space X the asymptotic dimension of X is at most the capacity dimension of its boundary at infinity plus 1.
We show the manifolds at infinity of the complex hyperbolic triangle groups $Δ_{3,4,4;\infty}$ and $Δ_{3,4,6;\infty}$,are one-cusped hyperbolic 3-manifolds $m038$ and $s090$ in the Snappy Census respectively. That is,these two manifolds admit spherical CR uniformizations. Moreover, these two hyperbolic 3-manifolds above can be obtained by Dehn surgeries on the first cusp of the two-cusped hyperbolic 3-manifold $m295$ in the Snappy Census with slopes $2$ and $4$ respectively. In general, the main result in this paper allow us to conjecture that the manifold at infinity of the complex hyperbolic t…
Celebrated work of Alexandrov and Pogorelov determines exactly which metrics on the sphere are induced on the boundary of a compact convex subset of hyperbolic three-space. As a step toward a generalization for unbounded convex subsets, we consider convex regions of hyperbolic three-space bounded by two properly embedded disks which meet at infinity along a Jordan curve in the ideal boundary. In this setting, it is natural to augment the notion of induced metric on the boundary of the convex set to include a gluing map at infinity which records how the asymptotic geometry of the two surfaces c…
We study the length statistics of the components of a random multicurve on a surface of genus $g \geq 2$. For each fixed genus, the existence of such statistics follows from the work of M.~Mirzakhani, F.~Arana-Herrera and M.~Liu. We prove that as the genus $g$ tends to infinity the statistics converge in law to the Poisson--Dirichlet distribution of parameter $θ=1/2$. In particular, as the genus tends to infinity the mean length of the three longest components converge respectively to $75.8\%$, $17.1\%$ and $4.9\%$ of the total length.
