This paper is concerned with the implications of sufficient conditions ensuring that a perturbation of a frame is again a frame. We emphasize how stability of frames is fundamental for numerical applications and we discuss in particular the connection between stability conditions and localization principles for frame atomic decompositions in Banach spaces.
In this paper, we give some results concerning atomic decompositions for operators on reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces, using frame theory techniques. We provide also generalizations for atomic decompositions of some theorems for reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces. In particular, we obtain atomic decomposition results for operators on Bergman spaces and Fock spaces in a simple manner.
We study atomic decompositions in Fréchet spaces and their duals, as well as perturbation results. We define shrinking and boundedly complete atomic decompositions on a locally convex space, study the duality of these two concepts and their relation with the reflexivity of the space. We characterize when an unconditional atomic decomposition is shrinking or boundedly complete in terms of properties of the space. Several examples of concrete atomic decompositions in function spaces are also presented.
A new proof is given of the atomic decomposition of Hardy spaces Hp, in the classical setting of Rn. The new method can be used to establish atomic decomposition of maximal Hardy spaces in general setting and non classical settings.
In this paper, we consider the atomic decomposition for Morrey-Lorentz spaces and applications. Morrey-Lorentz spaces, which have structures of Morrey spaces, Lorentz spaces and their weak-type spaces, are introduced by M. A. Ragusa in 2012. Our study gave some extension of the atomic decomposition to Morrey-Lorentz spaces. As an application, the Olsen inequality can be obtained more sharpness.
In this paper we extend the atomic decompositions previously obtained for Besov spaces related to the forward light cone to general symmetric cones. We do so via wavelet theory adapted to the cone. The wavelet transforms sets up an isomorphism between the Besov spaces and certain reproducing kernel function spaces on the group, and sampling of the transformed data will provide the atomic decompositions and frames for the Besov spaces.
We use the author's previous work on atomic decompositions of Besov spaces with spectrum on symmetric cones, to derive new atomic decompositions for Bergman spaces on tube type domains. It is related to work by Ricci and Taibleson who derived decompositions for classical Besov spaces from atomic decompositions of Bergman spaces on the upper half plane. Moreover, for this class of domains our method is an alternative to classical results by Coifman and Rochberg, and it works for a larger range of Bergman spaces.
In this article we study atomic and molecular decompositions in $2$-microlocal Besov and Triebel--Lizorkin spaces with variable integrability. We show that, in most cases, the convergence implied in such decompositions holds not only in the distributions sense, but also in the function spaces themselves. As an application, we give a simple proof for the denseness of the Schwartz class in such spaces. Some other properties, like Sobolev embeddings, are also obtained via atomic representations.
[L. Gavruta, Frames for Operators, Appl. comput. Harmon. Anal. 32(2012), 139-144] introduced a special kind of frames, named $K$-frames, where $K$ is an operator, in Hilbert spaces, is significant in frame theory and has many applications. In this paper, first of all, we have introduced the notion of approximative $K$-atomic decomposition in Banach spaces. We gave two characterizations regarding the existence of approximative $K$-atomic decompositions in Banach spaces. Also some results on the existence of approximative $K$-atomic decompositions are obtained. We discuss several methods to cons…
We provide a large family of atoms for Bergman spaces on irreducible bounded symmetric domains. This vastly generalizes results by Coifman and Rochberg from 1980. The atomic decompositions are derived using the holomorphic discrete series representations for the domain, and the approach is inspired by recent advances in wavelet and coorbit theory. This approach also settles the relation between atomic decompositions for the bounded and unbounded realizations of the domain.
The theory of tent spaces on $\mathbb{R}^n$ was introduced by Coifman, Meyer and Stein, including atomic decomposition, duality theory and so on. Russ generalized the atomic decomposition for tent spaces to the case of spaces of homogeneous type $(X,d,μ)$. The main purpose of this paper is to extend the results of Coifman, Meyer, Stein and Russ to weighted version. More precisely, we obtain a $q$-atomic decomposition for the weighted tent spaces $T^p_{2,w}(X)$, where $0<p\leq 1, 1<q<\infty,$ and $w\in A_\infty$. As an application, we give an atomic decomposition for weighted Hardy spaces assoc…
We constructively determine the Pietsch measure of the 2-summing multiplication operator \[\mathcal{M}_u:\ell^{\infty} \rightarrow H^p, \quad (φ_I) \mapsto \sum φ_Ix_Ih_I. \] Our construction of the Pietsch measure for the multiplication operator $\mathcal{M}_u$ involves the Haar coefficients of $u$ and its atomic decomposition.
We prove that atomic decomposition for the Hardy spaces h_1 and H_1 is valid for noncommutative martingales. We also establish that the conditioned Hardy spaces of noncommutative martingales h_p and bmo form interpolation scales with respect to both complex and real interpolations.
We construct generalised shift-invariant systems of functions of several real variables for anisotropic Besov spaces that can be generated by the decomposition method using any given expansive matrix and establish the conditions on those systems under which they will constitute Banach frames or sets of atoms for the anisotropic homo- or inhomogeneous Besov spaces.
We provide non-smooth atomic decompositions for Besov spaces $\Bd(\rn)$, $s>0$, $0<p,q\leq \infty$, defined via differences. The results are used to compute the trace of Besov spaces on the boundary $Γ$ of bounded Lipschitz domains $Ω$ with smoothness $s$ restricted to $0<s<1$ and no further restrictions on the parameters $p,q$. We conclude with some more applications in terms of pointwise multipliers.
Arbieto and S. recently used atomic decomposition to study transfer operators. We give a long list of old and new expanding dynamical systems for which those results can be applied, obtaining the quasi-compactness of transfer operator acting on Besov spaces of measure spaces with a good grid.
We prove an atomic type decomposition for the noncommutative martingale Hardy space $\h_p$ for all $0<p<2$ by an explicit constructive method using algebraic atoms as building blocks. Using this elementary construction, we obtain a weak form of the atomic decomposition of $\h_p$ for all $0< p < 1,$ and provide a constructive proof of the atomic decomposition for $p=1$. We also study $(p,\8)_c$-atoms, and show that every $(p,2)_c$-atom can be decomposed into a sum of $(p,\8)_c$-atoms; consequently, for every $0<p\le 1$, the $(p,q)_c$-atoms lead to the same atomic space for all $2\le q\le\8$. As…
Given a Banach space $E$ with a supremum-type norm induced by a collection of operators, we prove that $E$ is a dual space and provide an atomic decomposition of its predual. We apply this result, and some results obtained previously by one of the authors, to the function space $\mathcal{B}$ introduced recently by Bourgain, Brezis, and Mironescu. This yields an atomic decomposition of the predual $\mathcal{B}_\ast$, the biduality result that $\mathcal{B}_0^\ast = \mathcal{B}_\ast$ and $\mathcal{B}_\ast^\ast = \mathcal{B}$, and a formula for the distance from an element $f \in \mathcal{B}$ to $…
Function spaces are central topic in analysis. Often those spaces and related analysis involves symmetries in form of an action of a Lie group. Coorbit theory as introduced by Feichtinger and Gröchenig and then later extended in [3] gives a unified method to construct Banach spaces of functions based on representations of Lie groups. In this article we identify the homogeneous Besov spaces on stratified Lie groups introduced in [13] as coorbit spaces in the sense of [3] and use this to derive atomic decompositions for the Besov spaces.
Recently there has been interest in pairs of Banach spaces $(E_0,E)$ in an $o-O$ relation and with $E_0^{**}=E$. It is known that this can be done for Lipschitz spaces on suitable metric spaces. In this paper we consider the case of a compact subset $K$ of $\mathbb{R}^n$ with the euclidean metric, which does not give an $o-O$ structure, but we use part of the theory concerning these pairs to find an atomic decomposition of the predual of $Lip(K)$. In particular, since the space $\mathfrak{M}(K)$ of finite signed measures on $K$, when endowed with the Kantorovich-Rubinstein norm, has as dual sp…
In this paper, we give an atomic decomposition characterization of flag Hardy spaces $H^p_F({\rr}^n\times {\rr}^m)$ for $0<p\le 1$, which were introduced in \cite{hl1}. A remarkable feature of atoms of such flag Hardy spaces is that these atoms have only partial cancellation conditions. As an application, we prove a boundedness criterion for operators on flag Hardy spaces.
In this paper we consider a complete connected noncompact Riemannian manifold M with bounded geometry and spectral gap. We prove that the Hardy type spaces X^k(M), introduced in a previous paper of the authors, have an atomic characterization. As an application, we prove that the Riesz transforms of even order 2k are bounded from X^k(M) to L^1(M)and on L^p(M) for 1<p<\infty.
The purpose of this paper is to establish an atomic decomposition for functions in the weighted mixed norm space $A^{p,q}_ω$ induced by a radial weight $ω$ in the unit disc admitting a two-sided doubling condition. The obtained decomposition is further applied to characterize Carleson measures for $A^{p,q}_ω$, and bounded differentiation operators $D^{(n)}(f)=f^{(n)}$ acting from $A^{p,q}_ω$ to $L^p_μ$, induced by a positive Borel measure $μ$, on the full range of parameters $0<p,q,s<\infty$.
Several possible notions of Hardy-Sobolev spaces on a Riemannian manifold with a doubling measure are considered. Under the assumption of a Poincaré inequality, the space $\Mone$, defined by Hajłasz, is identified with a Hardy-Sobolev space defined in terms of atoms. Decomposition results are proved for both the homogeneous and the nonhomogeneous spaces.
We use the method of atomic decomposition to build new families of function spaces, similar to Besov spaces, in measure spaces with grids, a very mild assumption. Besov spaces with low regularity are considered in measure spaces with good grids, and results on multipliers and left compositions are obtained.
For $α>-1$ and $0<p<\infty$, we study weighted Bergman spaces $\mathcal B^p_α$ of harmonic functions on the real hyperbolic ball and obtain an atomic decomposition of these spaces in terms of reproducing kernels. We show that an $r$-separated sequence $\{a_m\}$ with sufficiently large $r$ is an interpolating sequence for $\mathcal B^p_α$. Using these we determine precisely when a Bergman space $\mathcal B^p_α$ is included in another Bergman space $\mathcal B^q_β$.
We consider the Sobolev type spaces $H^σ(K)$ with $σ\geq 0$, where $K$ is a post-critically finite self-similar set with the natural boundary. Firstly, we compare different classes of Sobolev spaces $H^σ_N(K),H^σ_D(K)$ and $H^σ(K)$, {and observe} a sequence of critical orders of $σ$ in our comparison theorem. Secondly, We present a general atomic decomposition theorem of Sobolev spaces $H^σ(K)$, where the same critical orders play an important role. At the same time, we provide purely analytic approaches for various Besov type characterizations of Sobolev spaces $H^σ(K)$.
In this paper, we study the John-Nirenberg inequality for BMO and the atomic decomposition for H1 of noncommutative martingales. We first establish a crude version of the column (resp. row) John-Nirenberg inequality for all 0 < p < \infty. By an extreme point property of Lp -space for 0 < p \leq 1, we then obtain a fine version of this in equality. The latter corresponds exactly to the classical John-Nirenberg inequality and enables us to obtain an exponential integrability inequality like in the classical case. These results extend and improve Junge and Musat's John-Nirenberg inequality. By d…
This paper ist concerned with recent progress in the context of coorbit space theory. Based on a square integrable group representation, the coorbit theory provides new families of associated smoothness spaces, where the smoothness of a function is measured by the decay of the associated voice transform. Moreover, by discretizing the representation, atomic decomposi- tions and Banach frames can be constructed. Usually, the whole machinery works well if the associated reproducing kernel is integrable with respect to a weighted Haar measure on the group. In recent studies, it has turned out that…
For $f \in H^p(δ^2)$, $0<p\leq 2$, with Haar expansion $f=\sum f_{I \times J}h_{I\times J}$ we constructively determine the Pietsch measure of the $2$-summing multiplication operator \[\mathcal{M}_f:\ell^{\infty} \rightarrow H^p(δ^2), \quad (φ_{I\times J}) \mapsto \sum φ_{I\times J}f_{I \times J}h_{I \times J}. \] Our method yields a constructive proof of Pisier's decomposition of $f \in H^p(δ^2)$ \[|f|=|x|^{1-θ}|y|^θ\quad\quad \text{ and }\quad\quad \|x\|_{X_0}^{1-θ}\|y\|^θ_{H^2(δ^2)}\leq C\|f\|_{H^p(δ^2)}, \] where $X_0$ is Pisier's extrapolation lattice associated to $H^p(δ^2)$ and $H^2(δ^2…
We use the method of atomic decomposition and a new family of Banach spaces to study the action of transfer operators associated to piecewise-defined maps. It turns out that these transfer operators are quasi-compact even when the associated potential, the dynamics and the underlying phase space have very low regularity. In particular it is often possible to obtain exponential decay of correlations, the Central Limit Theorem and almost sure invariance principle for fairly general observables, including unbounded ones.
We prove that a Schauder frame for any separable Banach space is shrinking if and only if it has an associated space with a shrinking basis, and that a Schauder frame for any separable Banach space is shrinking and boundedly complete if and only if it has a reflexive associated space. To obtain these results, we prove that the upper and lower estimate theorems for finite dimensional decompositions of Banach spaces can be extended and modified to Schauder frames. We show as well that if a separable infinite dimensional Banach space has a Schauder frame, then it also has a Schauder frame which i…
In this paper we provide non-smooth atomic decompositions of 2-microlocal Besov-type and Triebel-Lizorkin-type spaces with variable exponents $B^{\mathrm{\boldsymbolω}, ϕ}_{p(\cdot),q(\cdot)}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ and $F^{\mathrm{\boldsymbolω}, ϕ}_{p(\cdot),q(\cdot)}(\mathbb{R}^n)$. Of big importance in general, and an essential tool here, are the characterizations of the spaces via maximal functions and local means, that we also present. These spaces were recently introduced by Wu at al. and cover not only variable 2-microlocal Besov and Triebel-Lizorkin spaces $B^{\mathrm{\boldsymbolω}}_{p(\cdot),q…
In this paper, we show that every (weighted) Bergman space $\mathcal{A}^p_α (\mathbb{B}_n)$ in the complex ball admits an atomic decomposition of real-variable type for any $0 < p \le 1$ and $α> -1.$ More precisely, for each $f \in \mathcal{A}^p_α (\mathbb{B}_n)$ there exist a sequence of real-variable $(p, \8)_α$-atoms $a_k$ and a scalar sequence $\{λ_k \}$ with $\sum_k | λ_k |^p < \8$ such that $f = \sum_k λ_k P_α (a_k),$ where $P_α$ is the Bergman projection from $L^2_α (\mathbb{B}_n)$ onto $\mathcal{A}^2_α (\mathbb{B}_n).$ The proof is constructive, and our construction is based on some sh…
Let $Δ$ be the Dunkl Laplacian on $\mathbb R^N$ associated with a normalized root system $R$ and a multiplicity function $k(α)\geq 0$. We say that a function $f$ belongs to the Hardy space $H^1_Δ$ if the nontangential maximal function $\mathcal M_H f(\mathbf x)=\sup_{\| \mathbf x-\mathbf y\|<t} |\exp(t^2Δ)f(\mathbf x)|$ belongs to $L^1(w(\mathbf x)\, d\mathbf x)$, where $w(\mathbf x)=\prod_{α\in R} |\langle α,\mathbf x\rangle|^{k(α)}$. We prove that $H^1_Δ$ coincides with the space $H^1_{\rm atom}(\mathbb R^N, \| \mathbf x-\mathbf y\|, w(\mathbf x)d\mathbf x)$ understood as the atomic Hardy sp…
We consider a nonnegative self-adjoint operator $L$ on $L^2(X)$, where $X\subseteq \mathbb{R}^d$. Under certain assumptions, we prove atomic characterizations of the Hardy space $$H^1(L) = ł\{f\in L^1(X) \ : \ \ {\|}\sup_{t>0} \ |\exp(-tL)f \ | \ {\|}_{L^1(X)}<\infty\ \}.$$ We state simple conditions, such that $H^1(L)$ is characterized by atoms being either the classical atoms on $X\subseteq \mathbb{R}^d$ or local atoms of the form $|Q|^{-1}χ_Q$, where $Q\subseteq X$ is a cube (or cuboid). One of our main motivation is to study multidimensional operators related to orthogonal expansions. We p…

This paper defines local weighted Hardy spaces with variable exponent. Local Hardy spaces permit atomic decomposition, which is one of the main themes in this paper. A consequence is that the atomic decomposition is obtained for the functions in the Lebesgue spaces with exponentially decaying exponent. As an application, we obtain the boundedness of singular integral operators, the Littlewood--Paley characterization and wavelet decomposition.
In this paper we consider series expansions via a frame and a non-frame and the possibilities for interchange of the two sequences, both in the Hilbert and Banach space setting. First we give a characterization of frame-related concepts in Banach spaces (atomic decompositions, Banach frames, $X_d$-Riesz bases, $X_d$-frames, $X_d$-Bessel sequences, and sequences satisfying the lower $X_d$-frame condition). We also determine necessary and sufficient conditions for operators to preserve the type of the concepts listed above. Then we discuss differences and relationships between expansions in a Ba…
Let L_U = -Delta+U be a Schrödinger operator on R^d, where U\in L^1_{loc}(R^d) is a non-negative potential and d\geq 3. The Hardy space H^1(L_U) is defined in terms of the maximal function for the semigroup K_{t,U} = exp(-t L_U), namely H^1(L_U) = {f\in L^1(R^d): \|f\|_{H^1(L_U)}:= \|sup_{t>0} |K_{t,U} f| \|_{L^1(R^d)} < \infty. Assume that U=V+W, where V\geq 0 satisfies the global Kato condition sup_{x\in R^d} \int_{R^d} V(y)|x-y|^{2-d} < \infty. We prove that, under certain assumptions on W\geq 0, the space H^1(L_U) admits an atomic decomposition of local type. An atom a for H^1(L_U) is eith…
Recently representation theory has been used to provide atomic decompositions for a large collection of classical Banach spaces. In this paper we extend the techniques to also include projective representations. As our main application we obtain atomic decompositions of Bergman spaces on the unit ball through the holomorphic discrete series for the group of isometries of the ball.
We generalize the classical coorbit space theory developed by Feichtinger and Gr"ochenig to quasi-Banach spaces. As a main result we provide atomic decompositions for coorbit spaces defined with respect to quasi-Banach spaces. These atomic decompositions are used to prove fast convergence rates of best $n$-term approximation schemes. We apply the abstract theory to time-frequency analysis of modulation spaces $M^{p,q}_m$, $0< p,q \leq \infty$.
Let $Δ$ and $L=Δ-\|\mathbf x\|^2$ be the Dunkl Laplacian and the Dunkl harmonic oscillator respectively. We define the Hardy space $\mathcal H^1$ associated with the Dunkl harmonic oscillator by means of the nontangential maximal function with respect to the semigroup $e^{tL}$. We prove that the space $\mathcal H^1$ admits characterizations by relevant Riesz transforms and atomic decompositions. The atoms which occur in the atomic decompositions are of local type.
$\newcommand{mc}[1]{\mathcal{#1}}$ $\newcommand{D}{\mc{D}(\mc{Q},L^p,\ell_w^q)}$ We present a framework for the construction of structured, possibly compactly supported Banach frames and atomic decompositions for decomposition spaces. Such a space $\D$ is defined using a frequency covering $\mc{Q}=(Q_i)_{i\in I}$: If $(φ_i)_{i}$ is a suitable partition of unity subordinate to $\mc{Q}$, then $\Vert g\Vert_{\D}:=\left\Vert\left(\Vert\mc{F}^{-1}(φ_i\hat{g})\Vert_{L^p}\right)_{i}\right\Vert_{\ell_w^q}$. We assume $\mc{Q}=(T_iQ+b_i)_{i}$, with $T_i\in{\rm GL}(\Bbb{R}^d),b_i\in\Bbb{R}^d$. Given a pr…
In this article we construct affine systems that provide a simultaneous atomic decomposition for a wide class of functional spaces including the Lebesgue spaces $L^p(\Rdst)$, $1<p<+\infty$. The novelty and difficulty of this construction is that we allow for non-lattice translations. We prove that for an arbitrary expansive matrix $A$ and any set $Λ$ - satisfying a certain spreadness condition but otherwise irregular- there exists a smooth window whose translations along the elements of $Λ$ and dilations by powers of $A$ provide an atomic decomposition for the whole range of the anisotropic Tr…
Given a probability space $(Ω,Σ,μ)$, the Hardy space $\mathrm{H}_1(Ω)$ which is associated to the martingale square function does not admit a classical atomic decomposition when the underlying filtration is not regular. In this paper we construct a decomposition of $\mathrm{H}_1(Ω)$ into "atomic blocks"${}$ in the spirit of Tolsa, which we will introduce for martingales. We provide three proofs of this result. Only the first one also applies to noncommutative martingales, the main target of this paper. The other proofs emphasize alternative approaches for commutative martingales. One might be …
In this paper, several weak Orlicz-Hardy martingale spaces associated with concave functions are introduced, and some weak atomic decomposition theorems for them are established. With the help of weak atomic decompositions, a sufficient condition for a sublinear operator defined on the weak Orlicz-Hardy martingale spaces to be bounded is given. Further, we investigate the duality of weak Orlicz-Hardy martingale spaces and obtain a new John-Nirenberg type inequality when the stochastic basis is regular. These results can be regarded as weak versions of the Orlicz-Hardy martingale spaces due to …
We study conditions on a Banach frame that ensures the validity of a reconstruction formula. In particular, we show that any Banach frames for (a subspace of) $L_p$ or $L_{p,q}$ ($1\le p < \infty$) with respect to a solid sequence space always satisfies an unconditional reconstruction formula. The existence of reconstruction formulae allows us to prove some James-type results for atomic decompositions: an unconditional atomic decomposition (or unconditional Schauder frame) for $X$ is shrinking (respectively, boundedly complete) if and only if $X$ does not contain an isomorphic copy of $\ell_1$…
We provide explicit criteria for wavelets to give rise to frames and atomic decompositions in ${\rm L}^2(\mathbb{R}^d)$, but also in more general Banach function spaces. We consider wavelet systems that arise by translating and dilating the mother wavelet, with the dilations taken from a suitable subgroup of ${\rm GL}(\mathbb{R}^d)$, the so-called {\em dilation group}.The paper provides a unified approach that is applicable to a wide range of dilation groups, thus giving rise to new atomic decompositions for homogeneous Besov spaces in arbitrary dimensions, but also for other function spaces s…
We derive an extension of the Walnut-Daubechies criterion for the invertibility of frame operators. The criterion concerns general reproducing systems and Besov-type spaces. As an application, we conclude that $L^2$ frame expansions associated with smooth and fast-decaying reproducing systems on sufficiently fine lattices extend to Besov-type spaces. This simplifies and improves recent results on the existence of atomic decompositions, which only provide a particular dual reproducing system with suitable properties. In contrast, we conclude that the $L^2$ canonical frame expansions extend to m…
