Our goal is to extend the theory of the spectral shift function to the case where only the difference of some powers of the resolvents of self-adjoint operators belongs to the trace class. As an example, we consider a couple of Dirac operators.
Borg-type uniqueness theorems for matrix-valued Jacobi operators H and supersymmetric Dirac difference operators D are proved. More precisely, assuming reflectionless matrix coefficients A, B in the self-adjoint Jacobi operator H=AS^+ + A^-S^- + B (with S^\pm the right/left shift operators on the lattice Z) and the spectrum of H to be a compact interval [E_-,E_+], E_- < E_+, we prove that A and B are certain multiples of the identity matrix. An analogous result which, however, displays a certain novel nonuniqueness feature, is proved for supersymmetric self-adjoint Dirac difference operators D…
A Duistermaat-Guillemin-Gutzwiller trace formula for Dirac-type operators on a globally hyperbolic spatially compact stationary spacetime is achieved by generalising the recent construction by A. Strohmaier and S. Zelditch [Adv. Math. \textbf{376}, 107434 (2021)] to a vector bundle setting. We have analysed the spectrum of the Lie derivative with respect to a global timelike Killing vector field on the solution space of the Dirac equation and found that it consists of discrete real eigenvalues. The distributional trace of the time evolution operator has singularities at the periods of induced …
We explicitly determine the high-energy asymptotics for Weyl-Titchmarsh matrices associated with general Dirac-type operators on half-lines and on $\bbR$. We also prove new local uniqueness results for Dirac-type operators in terms of exponentially small differences of Weyl-Titchmarsh matrices. As concrete applications of the asymptotic high-energy expansion we derive a trace formula for Dirac operators and use it to prove a Borg-type theorem.
For manifolds including metric-contact manifolds with non-resonant Reeb ow, we prove a Gutzwiller type trace formula for the associated magnetic Dirac operator involving contributions from Reeb orbits on the base. As an application, we prove a semiclassical limit formula for the eta invariant.
We consider self-adjoint Dirac operators $\ham{D}=\ham{D}_0 + V(x)$, where $\ham{D}_0$ is the free three-dimensional Dirac operator and $V(x)$ is a smooth compactly supported Hermitian matrix. We define resonances of $\ham{D}$ as poles of the meromorphic continuation of its cut-off resolvent. An upper bound on the number of resonances in disks, an estimate on the scattering determinant and the Lifshits-Krein trace formula then leads to a global Poisson wave trace formula for resonances of $\ham{D}$.

We consider the 1D massless Dirac operator on the real line with compactly supported potentials. We study resonances as the poles of scattering matrix or equivalently as the zeros of modified Fredholm determinant. We obtain the following properties of the resonances: 1) asymptotics of counting function, 2) estimates on the resonances and the forbidden domain, 3) the trace formula in terms of resonances.
Trace formulae provide one of the most elegant descriptions of the classical-quantum correspondence. One side of a formula is given by a trace of a quantum object, typically derived from a quantum Hamiltonian, and the other side is described in terms of closed orbits of the corresponding classical Hamiltonian. In algebraic situations, such as the original Selberg trace formula, the identities are exact, while in general they hold only in semi-classical or high-energy limits. We refer to a recent survey \cite{Ur} for an introduction and references. In this paper we present an intermediate trace…
Let $P$ be a non-negative self-adjoint Laplace type operator acting on sections of a hermitian vector bundle over a closed Riemannian manifold. In this paper we review the close relations between various $P$-related coefficients such as the mollified spectral counting coefficients, the heat trace coefficients, the resolvent trace coefficients, the residues of the spectral zeta function as well as certain Wodzicki residues. We then use the Wodzicki residue to obtain results about the local counting function of operators of Dirac and Laplace type. In particular, we express the second term of the…
We investigate spectral features of the Dirac operator with infinite mass boundary conditions in a smooth bounded domain of $\mathbb{R}^2$. Motivated by spectral geometric inequalities, we prove a non-linear variational formulation to characterize its principal eigenvalue. This characterization turns out to be very robust and allows for a simple proof of a Szegö type inequality as well as a new reformulation of a Faber-Krahn type inequality for this operator. The paper is complemented with strong numerical evidences supporting the existence of a Faber-Krahn type inequality.
The paper is devoted to the trace formula for the magnetic Laplacian associated with a magnetic system on a compact manifold. This formula is a natural generalization of the semiclassical Gutzwiller trace formula and reduces to it in the case when the magnetic field form is exact. It differs somewhat from the Guillemin-Uribe trace formula studied in the author's previous work with I.A. Taimanov. Moreover, in contrast to that work, the focus is on the trace formula at the zero energy level, which is a critical energy level. The paper gives an overview of the main notions and results related to …
We consider the radial Dirac operator with compactly supported potentials. We study resonances as the poles of scattering matrix or equivalently as the zeros of modified Fredholm determinant. We obtain the following properties of the resonances: 1) asymptotics of counting function, 2) in the massless case we get the trace formula in terms of resonances.
In this paper, we consider the dynamical zeta functions of Ruelle and Selberg associated with the geodesic flow of a compact hyperbolic odd dimensional manifold $X$. These functions are initially defined on one complex variable $s$ in some right half-plane of $\mathbb{C}$. Our goal is the continue meromorphically the dynamical zeta functions to the whole complex plane, using the Selberg trace formula for arbitrary, not necessarily unitary, representations $χ$ of the fundamental group. First, we prove a trace formula for the integral operator $D^{\sharp}_χ(σ)e^{-t(D^{\sharp}_χ(σ))^{2}}$, induce…
In this paper, the regularized trace formulas for a diffusion operator which include conformable fractional derivatives of order α (0<{α\leq 1}) is obtained.
We present a new description of the spectrum of the (spin-) Dirac operator $D$ on lens spaces. Viewing a spin lens space $L$ as a locally symmetric space $Γ\backslash \operatorname{Spin}(2m)/\operatorname{Spin}(2m-1)$ and exploiting the representation theory of the $\operatorname{Spin}$ groups, we obtain explicit formulas for the multiplicities of the eigenvalues of $D$ in terms of finitely many integer operations. As a consequence, we present conditions for lens spaces to be Dirac isospectral. Tackling classic questions of spectral geometry, we prove with the tools developed that neither spin…
We consider Schrödinger operators with complex decaying potentials (in general, not from trace class) on the lattice. We determine trace formulae and estimate of eigenvalues and singular measure in terms of potentials. The proof is based on estimates of free resolvent and analysis of functions from Hardy space.
We obtain general trace formulae in the case of perturbation of self-adjoint operators by self-adjoint operators of class $\bS_m$, where $m$ is a positive integer. In \cite{PSS} a trace formula for operator Taylor polynomials was obtained. This formula includes the Livshits--Krein trace formula in the case $m=1$ and the Koplienko trace formula in the case $m=2$. We establish most general trace formulae in the case of perturbation of Schatten--von Neumann class $\bS_m$. We also improve the trace formula obtained in \cite{PSS} for operator Taylor polynomials and prove it for arbitrary functions …
We compute the Selberg trace formula for Hecke operators (also called the trace formula for modular correspondences) in the context of cocompact Kleinian groups with finite-dimentional unitary representations. We give some applications to the distribution of Hecke eigenvalues, and give an analogue of Huber's theorem.
We consider an elliptic self-adjoint first order differential operator acting on pairs (2-columns) of complex-valued half-densities over a connected compact 3-dimensional manifold without boundary. The principal symbol of our operator is assumed to be trace-free. We study the spectral function which is the sum of squares of Euclidean norms of eigenfunctions evaluated at a given point of the manifold, with summation carried out over all eigenvalues between zero and a positive lambda. We derive an explicit two-term asymptotic formula for the spectral function as lambda tends to plus infinity, ex…
