Let G be a finite group, and let Omega:={t\in G\mid t^2=1}. Then Omega is a G-set under conjugation. Let k be an algebraically closed field of characteristic 2. It is shown that each projective indecomposable summand of the G-permutation module kOmega is irreducible and self-dual, whence it belongs to a real 2-block of defect zero. This, together with the fact that each irreducible kG-module that belongs to a real 2-block of defect zero occurs with multiplicity 1 as a direct summand of kOmega, establishes a bijection between the projective components of kOmega and the real 2-blocks of G of defect zero.
We enumerate over even characteristic the components of the permutation module of the symmetric group of even degree acting on the set of its fixed point free involutions. We find the vertex and Brauer quotient for each component, and the ordinary character associated with each component.
Let X be the group of weights of a maximal torus of a simply connected semisimple group over C and let W be the Weyl group. The semidirect product W(Q\otimes X/X) is called the extended Weyl group. There is a natural C(v)-algebra H called the extended Hecke algebra with basis indexed by the extended Weyl group which contains the usual Hecke algebra as a subalgebra. We construct an H-module with basis indexed by the involutions in the extended Weyl group. This generalizes a construction of the author and D.Vogan.
Let $W$ be a finite Weyl group and $\sg$ be a non-trivial graph automorphism of $W$. We show a remarkable relation between the $\sg$-twisted involution module for $W$ and the Frobenius--Schur indicators of the unipotent characters of a corresponding twisted finite group of Lie type. This extends earlier results of Lusztig-Vogan for the untwisted case and then allows us to state a general result valid for any finite group of Lie type. Inspired by recent work of Marberg, we also formally define Frobenius--Schur indicators for "unipotent characters" of twisted dihedral groups.
Let $G$ be a complex affine algebraic group, and let $σ_1$ and $σ_2$ be commuting anti-holomorphic involutions of $G$. We construct an algebraic family of algebraic groups over the complex projective line and a real structure on the family that interpolates between the real forms $G^{σ_1}$ and $G^{σ_2}$.
The pro-$p$-Iwahori Hecke algebra has an involution $ι$ defined in terms of Iwahori-Matsumoto basis. Then for a module $π$ of pro-$p$-Iwahori Hecke, $π^ι= π\circ ι$ is also a module. We calculate $π^ι$ for simple modules $π$. We also calculate the dual of $π$.
Let $G$ be a connected reductive $p$-adic group and let $θ$ be an automorphism of $G$ of order at most two. Suppose $π$ is an irreducible smooth representation of $G$ that is taken to its dual by $θ$. The space $V$ of $π$ then carries a non-zero bilinear form $(\mspace{7mu},\mspace{6mu})$, unique up to scaling, with the invariance property $(π(g)v, π({}^θg)w) = (v,w)$, for $g \in G$ and $v, w \in V$. The form is easily seen to be symmetric or skew-symmetric and we set $\varepsilon_θ(π) = \pm1$ accordingly. We use Cassleman's pairing (in commonly observed circumstances) to express $\varepsilon_…
Let $(W,S)$ be a Coxeter system and $\ast$ an automorphism of $W$ with order $\leq 2$ and $S^{\ast}=S$. Lusztig and Vogan ([11], [14]) have introduced a $u$-deformed version $M_u$ of Kottwitz's involution module over the Iwahori-Hecke algebra $\mathscr{H}_{u}(W)$ with Hecke parameter $u^2$, where $u$ is an indeterminate. Lusztig has proved that $M_u$ is isomorphic to the left $\mathscr{H}_{u}(W)$-submodule of ${\hat{\mathscr{H}}}_u$ generated by $X_{\emptyset}:=\sum_{w^*=w\in W}{u^{-\ell(w)}T_w}$, where ${\hat{\mathscr{H}}}_u$ is the vector space consisting of all formal (possibly infinite) su…
In a previous paper the author and D. Vogan defined and studied a Hecke algebra module structure on a vector space spanned by the involutions in a Weyl group. In this paper this study is continued by relating it to the asymptotic Hecke algebra.
We first describe how the Kashiwara involution on crystals of affine type $A$ is encoded by the combinatorics of aperiodic multisegments. This yields a simple relation between this involution and the Zelevinsky involution on the set of simple modules for the affine Hecke algebras. We then give efficient procedures for computing these involutions. Remarkably, these procedures do not use the underlying crystal structure. They also permit to match explicitly the Ginzburg and Ariki parametrizations of the simple modules associated to affine and cyclotomic Hecke algebras, respectively .
We investigate finite non-Abelian simple groups $G$ for which the projective cover of the trivial module coincides with the permutation module on a subgroup and classify all cases unless $G$ is of Lie type in defining characteristic.
Let $(W, S)$ be a Coxeter system equipped with a fixed automorphism $\ast$ of order $\leq 2$ which preserves $S$. Lusztig (and with Vogan in some special cases) have shown that the space spanned by set of "twisted" involutions was naturally endowed with a module structure of the Hecke algebra of $(W, S)$. Lusztig has conjectured that this module is isomorphic to the right ideal of the Hecke algebra (with Hecke parameter $u^2$) associated to $(W,S)$ generated by the element $X_{\emptyset}:=\sum_{w^\ast=w}u^{-\ell(w)}T_w$. In this paper we prove this conjecture in the case when $\ast=\text{id}$ …
Let $W$ be a Coxeter group and let $M$ be the free $Z[v,v^{-1}]$-module with basis indexed by the involutions of $W$. We show how recent results of Elias and Williamson on Soergel bimodules can be used to give an alternative definition of an action of the Hecke algebra of $W$ on $M$.
By computing Frobenius-Schur indicators of modules of certain weak Hopf algebras, we give a formula for the number of involutions in symmetric groups, which are contained in a given coset with respect to a given Young subgroup.
We define an imbedding of the Hecke algebra module carried by the involutions in a Weyl group W (defined by the author and Vogan) into a completion of the Hecke algebra. An analogous result is proved for any Coxeter group. A variant of the construction gives an imbedding of the biregular representation of a Hecke algebra of W in a completion of the Hecke algebra of W^2.
For a reductive group G, we study the Drinfeld-Gaitsgory functor of the category of conjugation-equivariant D-modules on G. We show that this functor is an equivalence of categories, and that it has a filtration with layers expressed via parabolic induction of parabolic restriction. We use this to provide a conceptual definition of the Deligne-Lusztig involution on the set of isomorphism classes of irreducible character D-modules, which was defined previously in [Lu1, section 15].
We investigate the representation of the symmetric group afforded by the action on its conjugacy class of fixed point free involutions, over an algebraically closed field of finite characteristic p. We discuss the general form of the set of involutions fixed by an arbitrary vertex of an irreducible component of the module afforded by the action, and show how such a set is composed of certain basic fixed point sets which we can enumerate in the case p = 2. The Broué correspondence allows us to pass from the fixed point sets to the vertices.
An irreducible module for the parafermion vertex operator algebra $K(\mathfrak{sl}_2,k)$ is said to be of $σ$-type if an automorphism of the fusion algebra of $K(\mathfrak{sl}_2,k)$ of order $k$ is trivial on it. For any integer $k \ge 3$, we show that there exists an automorphism of order $2$ of the subalgebra of the fusion algebra of $K(\mathfrak{sl}_2,k)^{\langle θ\rangle}$ spanned by the irreducible direct summands of $σ$-type irreducible $K(\mathfrak{sl}_2,k)$-modules, where $θ$ is an involution of $K(\mathfrak{sl}_2,k)$. We discuss some examples of such an automorphism as well.
This paper concerns when a finitely generated IG-projective module is projective over commutative Noetherian local rings. We prove that a finitely generated IG-projective module is projective if and only if it is selforthogonal.
Let $G$ be a complex simply connected semisimple Lie group, and let $B_V$ be the canonical base of a Weyl module $V$ of $G$. We calculate explicitely the action of the longest element $w_0$ of the Weyl group on $B_V$ in terms of parametrizations. The method is based on results of Berenstein and Zelevinsky on the geometric lifting.
The category ${\rm gp}(Λ)$ of Gorenstein-projective modules over tensor algebra $Λ= A\otimes_kB$ can be described as the monomorphism category ${\rm mon}(B, {\rm gp}(A))$ of $B$ over ${\rm gp}(A)$. In particular, Gorenstein-projective $Λ$-modules are monic. In this paper, we find the similar relation between semi-Gorenstein-projective $Λ$-modules and $A$-modules, via monic modules, namely, ${\rm mon}(B, \ ^\perp A) = {\rm mon}(B, A)\cap \ ^\perp Λ.$ Using this, it is proved that if $A$ is weakly Gorenstein, then $Λ$ is weakly Gorenstein if and only each semi-Gorenstein-projective $Λ$-modules a…
Let k be a field and q a non-zero element of k. In Part I, we have exhibited a 6-dimensional k-algebra A = A(q) and we have shown that if q has infinite multiplicative order, then A has a 3-dimensional local module which is semi-Gorenstein-projective, but not torsionless, thus not Gorenstein-projective. This Part II is devoted to a detailed study of all the 3-dimensional local A-modules for this particular algebra A. If q has infinite multiplicative order, we will encounter a whole family of 3-dimensional local modules which are semi-Gorenstein-projective, but not torsionless.
We introduce the notions of Gorenstein projective $τ$-rigid modules, Gorenstein projective support $τ$-tilting modules and Gorenstein torsion pairs and give a Gorenstein analog to Adachi-Iyama-Reiten's bijection theorem on support $τ$-tilting modules. More precisely, for an algebra $Λ$, We prove that there is a bijection between the set of Gorenstein projective support $τ$-tilting modules and the set of functorially finite Gorenstein projective torsion classes. As an application, we introduce the notion of CM-$τ$-tilting finite algebras and show that $Λ$ is CM-$τ$-tilting finite if and only if…
Let $A$ be the one point extension of an algebra $B$ by a projective $B$-module. We prove that the extension of a given support $τ$-tilting $B$-module is a support $τ$-tilting $A$-module; and, conversely, the restriction of a given support $τ$-tilting $A$-module is a support $τ$-tilting $B$-module. Moreover, we prove that there exists a full embedding of quivers between the corresponding poset of support $τ$-tilting modules.
This article gives the structure of all projective indecomposable modules in blocks with non-cyclic defect group for $n\leq 11$, and almost all in the case of $n=12$, leaving four simple modules for $p=2$ and one simple module for $p=3$.
Let $A$ be a coherent algebra and $B$ be a finite-dimensional Gorenstein algebra over a field $k$. We describe finitely presented Gorenstein projective $A\otimes_k B$-modules in terms of their underlying onesided modules. Moreover, if the global dimension of $B$ is finite, we give a more precise description of finitely presented Gorenstein projective $A\otimes_k B$-modules.
We study totally acyclic complexes of projective modules over triangular matrix rings and then use it to classify Gorenstein projective modules over such rings. We also use this classification to obtain some information concerning Cohen-Macaulay finite and virtually Gorenstein triangular matrix artin algebras.
For a finite free and projective EI category, we prove that Gorenstein-projective modules over its category algebra are closed under the tensor product if and only if each morphism in the given category is a monomorphism.
We prove a BGG type reciprocity law for the category of finite dimensional modules over algebraic supergroups satisfying certain conditions. The equivalent of a standard module in this case is a virtual module called Euler characteristic due to its geometric interpretation. In the orthosymplectic case, we also describe indecomposable projective modules in terms of those Euler characteristics.
We show that the category of discrete modules over an infinite profinite group has no non-zero projective objects and does not satisfy Ab4*. We also prove the same types of results in a generalized setting using a ring with linear topology.
In the paper, we investigate the lifting of recollements with respect to Gorenstein-projective modules. Specifically, a homological ring epimorphism can induce a lifting of the recollement of the stable category of finitely generated Gorenstein-projective modules; the recollement of the bounded Gorenstein derived categories of some upper triangular matrix algebras can be lifted to the homotopy category of Gorenstein-projective modules. As a byproduct, we give a sufficient and necessary condition on the upper triangular matrix algebra T_{n}(A) to be of finite CM-type for an algebra A of finite …
We compute the Loewy structure of the indecomposable projective modules for the group algebra FG, where G is the alternating group on 10 letters and F is an algebraically closed field of characteristic 3.
An A-module M will be said to be semi-Gorenstein-projective provided that Ext^i(M,A) = 0 for all i > 0. All Gorenstein-projective modules are semi-Gorenstein-projective and only few and quite complicated examples of semi-Gorenstein-projective modules which are not Gorenstein-projective have been known. The aim of the paper is to provide conditions on A such that all semi-Gorenstein-projective modules are Gorenstein-projective (we call such an algebra left weakly Gorenstein). In particular, we show that in case there are only finitely many isomorphism classes of indecomposable left modules whic…
Invariants with respect to recollements of the stable category of Gorenstein projective A-modules over an algebra A and stable equivalences are investigated. Specifically, the Gorenstein rigidity dimension is introduced. It is shown that the Gorenstein rigidity dimension is invariant with respect to both Morita equivalences and the stable equivalences of Gorenstein projective modules. As a consequence, the Gorenstein rigidity dimension is shown the invariant of derived equivalences. The Gorenstein rigidity dimension is compared along the recollements of the stable category of Gorenstein projec…
In this paper, we show that the homotopy category of N-complexes of projective R-modules is triangle equivalent to the homotopy category of projective T_{N-1}(R)- modules where T_{N-1}(R) is the ring of triangular matrices of order N-1 with entries in R. We also define the notions of N-singularity category and N-totally acyclic complexes. We show that the category of N-totally acyclic complexes of finitely generated projective R-modules embeds in the N-singularity category, which is a result analogous to the case of ordinary chain complexes.
For a finite dimensional Frobenius cellular algebra, a sufficient and necessary condition for a simple cell module to be projective is given. A special case that dual bases of the cellular basis satisfying a certain condition is also considered. The result is similar to that in symmetric case.
We determine the Verma multiplicities and the characters of projective modules for atypical blocks in the BGG Category O for the general linear Lie superalgebras $\frak{gl}(2|2)$ and $\frak{gl}(3|1)$. We then explicitly determine the composition factor multiplcities of Verma modules in the atypicality 2 block of $\frak{gl}(2|2)$.
We classify indecomposable non-projective Gorenstein-projective modules over a monomial algebra via the notion of perfect paths. We apply this classification to a quadratic monomial algebra and describe explicitly the stable category of its Gorenstein-projective modules.
In this article we investigate the relations between the Gorenstein projective dimensions of $Λ$-modules and their socles for minimal n-Auslander-Gorenstein algebras $Λ$ in the sense of Iyama and Solberg \cite{IS}. First we give a description of projective-injective $Λ$-modules in terms of their socles. Then we prove that a $Λ$-module $N$ has Gorenstein projective dimension at most n iff its socle has Gorenstein projective dimension at most n iff $N$ is cogenerated by a projective $Λ$-module. Furthermore, we show that minimal n-Auslander-Gorenstein algebras can be characterised by the relation…
For modules over a finite-dimensional algebra, there is a canonical one-to-one correspondence between the projective indecomposable modules and the simple modules. In this purely expository note, we take a straight-line path from the definitions to this correspondence. The proof is self-contained.
In this paper, we study the problem when a finitely generated torsionless module is projective. Let $Λ$ be an Artinian local algebra with radical square zero. Then a finitely generated torsionless $Λ$-module $M$ is projective if ${\rm Ext^1_Λ}(M,M)=0$. For a commutative Artinian ring $Λ$, a finitely generated torsionless $Λ$-module $M$ is projective if the following conditions are satisfied: (1) ${\rm Ext}^i_Λ(M,Λ)=0$ for $i=1,2,3$; and (2) ${\rm Ext}^i_Λ(M,M)=0$ for $i=1,2$. As a consequence of this result, we have that for a commutative Artinian ring $Λ$, a finitely generated Gorenstein proj…
An artin algebra $A$ is said to be CM-finite if there are only finitely many, up to isomorphisms, indecomposable finitely generated Gorenstein-projective $A$-modules. We prove that for a Gorenstein artin algebra, it is CM-finite if and only if every its Gorenstein-projective module is a direct sum of finitely generated Gorenstein-projective modules. This is an analogue of Auslander's theorem on algebras of finite representation type (\cite{A,A1}).
We prove that a certain eventually homological isomorphism between module categories induces a triangle equivalence between their singularity categories, Gorenstein defect categories and the stable categories of Gorenstein projective modules. Further, we show that Auslander-Reiten conjecture and Gorenstein symmetry conjecture can be reduced by eventually homological isomorphisms. Applying the results to arrow removal and vertex removal, we describe the Gorenstein projective modules over some non-monomial algebras, and we verify the Auslander-Reiten conjecture for certain algebras.
The aim of this note is to outline the structure of the category of the Gorenstein projective modules for a Nakayama algebra. We are going to introduce the resolution quiver of such an algebra. It provides a fast algorithm in order to obtain the Gorenstein projective modules and to decide whether the algebra is a Gorenstein algebra or not, and whether it is CM-free or not.
We study twisted D-modules on the weighted projective stacks. We determine for which values of the twist and the weight the global section functor is an equivalence, thus, proving a version of Beilinson-Bernstein Localisation Theorem.
Let $Λ$ be the path algebra of a finite quiver $Q$ over a finite-dimensional algebra $A$. Then $Λ$-modules are identified with representations of $Q$ over $A$. This yields the notion of monic representations of $Q$ over $A$. If $Q$ is acyclic, then the Gorenstein-projective $\m$-modules can be explicitly determined via the monic representations. As an application, $A$ is self-injective if and only if the Gorenstein-projective $\m$-modules are exactly the monic representations of $Q$ over $A$.
We categorify Verma and indecomposable projective modules in the category $\mathcal I_{\mathfrak{g}}(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$ for $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ using a tensor product decomposition theorem of T. J. Enright and work of J. Chuang and R. Rouquier, A. Licata and A. Savage (Hecke algebras, finite general linear groups, and Heisenberg categorification) and M. Khovanov (Heisenberg algebra and a graphical calculus).
We give a new geometric construction of the big projective module in the principal block of the BGG category $\mathscr{O}$, or rather the corresponding $\mathscr{D}$-module on the flag variety. Namely, given a one-parameter family of nondegenerate additive characters of the unipotent radical of a Borel subgroup which degenerate to the trivial character, there is a corresponding one-parameter family of Whittaker sheaves. We show that the unipotent nearby cycles functor applied to this family yields the big projective $\mathscr{D}$-module.
I classify projective modules over idempotent semirings that are free on a monoid. The analysis extends to the case of the semiring of convex, piecewise-affine functions on a polyhedron, for which projective modules correspond to convex families of weight polyhedra for the general linear group.
Let A be an artin algebra. An A-module M is semi-Gorenstein-projective provided that Ext^i(M,A) = 0 for all i > 0. If M is Gorenstein-projective, then both M and its A-dual M* are semi-Gorenstein projective. As we have shown recently, the converse is not true, thus answering a question raised by Avramov and Martsinkovsky. The aim of the present note is to analyse in detail the modules M such that both M and M* are semi-Gorenstein-projective.
We study the structure of the $0$-Schur algebra $S_0(n, r)$ following the geometric construction of $S_0(n, r)$ by Jensen and Su \cite{JS}. The main results are the construction and classification of indecomposable projective modules. In addition, we construct bases of these modules and their homomorphism spaces. We also give a filtration of projective modules, which leads to a decomposition of $S_0(n,r)$ into indecomposable left modules.
We give a result of Auslander-Ringel-Tachikawa type for Gorenstein-projective modules over a complete Gorenstein order. In particular, we prove that a complete Gorenstein order is of finite Cohen-Macaulay representation type if and only if every indecomposable pure-injective object in the stable category of Gorenstein-projective modules is compact.
