This paper explains the relation between the fusion product of symmetric power sl(n) evaluation modules, as defined by Feigin and Loktev, and the graded coordinate ring R(mu), which describes the cohomology ring of the flag variety Fl(mu) of GL(N). The graded multiplicity spaces appearing in the decomposition of the fusion product into irreducible sl(n)-modules are identified with the multiplicity spaces of the Specht modules in R(mu). This proves that the Kostka polynomial gives the character of the fusion product in this case. In the case of the product of fundamental evaluation modules, we give the precise correspondence with the reduced wedge product, and thus the usual wedge space construction of irreducible level-1 ^sl(n)-modules in the limit N->infty. The multiplicity spaces are W(sl(n))-algebra modules in this limit.
We study an algebra spanned by modified Kostka polynomials. Particular structure coefficients of this algebra are interpreted as traces of some Weyl group actions on the intersection cohomology of comet-shaped quiver varieties.
For any triple $(i,a,μ)$ consisting of a vertex $i$ in a quiver $Q$, a positive integer $a$, and a dominant $GL_a$-weight $μ$, we define a quiver current $H^{(i,a)}_μ$ acting on the tensor power $Λ^Q$ of symmetric functions over the vertices of $Q$. These provide a quiver generalization of parabolic Garsia-Jing creation operators in the theory of Hall-Littlewood symmetric functions. For a triple $(\mathbf{i},\mathbf{a},μ(\bullet))$ of sequences of such data, we define the quiver Hall-Littlewood function $H^{\mathbf{i},\mathbf{a}}_{μ(\bullet)}$ as the result of acting on $1\inΛ^Q$ by the corres…
Let $G$ be the group scheme $\operatorname{SL}_{d+1}$ over $\mathbb{Z}$ and let $Q$ be the parabolic subgroup scheme corresponding to the simple roots $α_{2},\cdots,α_{d-1}$. Then $G/Q$ is the $\mathbb{Z} $-scheme of partial flags $\{D_{1}\subset H_{d}\subset V\}$. We will calculate the cohomology modules of line bundles over this flag scheme. We will prove that the only non-trivial ones are isomorphic to the kernel or the cokernel of certain matrices with multinomial coefficients.
We study the $S_n$-equivariant log-concavity of the cohomology of flag varieties, also known as the coinvariant ring of $S_n$. Using the theory of representation stability, we give computer-assisted proofs of the equivariant log-concavity in low degrees and high degrees and conjecture that it holds for all degrees. Furthermore, we make a stronger unimodal conjecture which implies the equivariant log-concavity.
We study the null-cone of a semi-simple algebraic group acting on a number of copies of its Lie algebra via the diagonal adjoint action. We show that the null cone has rational singularities in the case of SL3. We observe by example that the null-cone is not normal in general and that the normalization of the null-cone does not have rational singularities in general. This is achieved by computing cohomology of certain vector bundles on flag varieties.

We describe the cohomology of the sheaf of twisted differential operators on the quantized flag manifold at a root of unity whose order is a prime power. It follows from this and our previous results that for the De Concini-Kac type quantized enveloping algebra, where the parameter $q$ is specialized to a root of unity whose order is a prime power, the number of irreducible modules with a certain specified central character coincides with the dimension of the total cohomology group of the corresponding Springer fiber. This gives a weak version of a conjecture of Lusztig concerning non-restrict…
Over a field $K$ of characteristic $p$, let $Z$ be the incidence variety in $\mathbb{P}^d \times (\mathbb{P}^d)^*$ and let $\mathcal{L}$ be the restriction to $Z$ of the line bundle $\mathcal{O}(-n-d) \boxtimes \mathcal{O}(n)$, where $n = p+f$ with $0 \leq f \leq p-2$. We prove that $H^d(Z,\mathcal{L})$ is the simple $\operatorname{GL}_{d+1}$-module corresponding to the partition $λ_0 = (p-1+f,p-1,f+1)$. When $f= 0$, using the first author's description of $H^d(Z,\mathcal{L})$ and Jantzen's sum formula, we obtain as a by-product that the sum of the monomial symmetric functions $m_λ$, for all p…
For any reductive group G and a parabolic subgroup P with its Levi subgroup L, the first author in [Ku2] introduced a ring homomorphism $ ξ^P_λ: Rep^\mathbb{C}_{λ-poly}(L) \to H^*(G/P, \mathbb{C})$, where $ Rep^\mathbb{C}_{λ-poly}(L)$ is a certain subring of the complexified representation ring of L (depending upon the choice of an irreducible representation $V(λ)$ of G with highest weight $λ$). In this paper we study this homomorphism for G=Sp(2n) and its maximal parabolic subgroups $P_{n-k}$ for any $1\leq k\leq n$ (with the choice of $V(λ) $ to be the defining representation $V(ω_1) $ in $\…
We study equivariant localization of intersection cohomology complexes on Schubert varieties in Kashiwara's flag manifold. Using moment graph theory, we establish a link to the representation theory of Kac-Moody algebras and give a new proof of the Kazhdan-Lusztig conjecture for blocks containing an antidominant element.
The characters of Kazhdan--Lusztig elements of the Hecke algebra over $S_n$ (and in particular, the chromatic symmetric function of indifference graphs) are completely encoded in the (intersection) cohomology of certain subvarieties of the flag variety. Considering the forgetful map to some partial flag variety, the decomposition theorem tells us that this cohomology splits as a sum of intersection cohomology groups with coefficients in some local systems of subvarieties of the partial flag variety. We prove that these local systems correspond to representations of subgroups of $S_n$. An expli…
For any reductive group $G$ and a parabolic subgroup $P$ with its Levi subgroup $L$, the first author [Ku2] introduced a ring homomorphism $ ξ^P_λ: Rep^\mathbb{C}_{λ-poly}(L) \to H^*(G/P, \mathbb{C})$, where $ Rep^\mathbb{C}_{λ-poly}(L)$ is a certain subring of the complexified representation ring of $L$ (depending upon the choice of an irreducible representation $V(λ)$ of $G$ with highest weight $λ$). For a finite dimensional vector space V of dimension n, we consider the incidence correspondence (or partial flag variety) X in P(V) x P(V*), parametrizing pairs consisting of a point and a hyperplane containing it. We completely characterize the vanishing and non-vanishing behavior of the cohomology groups of line bundles on X in characteristic p>0. If n=3 then X is the full flag variety of V, and the characterization is contained in the thesis of Griffith from the 70s. In characteristic 0, the cohomology groups are described for all V by the Borel-Weil-Bott theorem. Our strategy is to recast…
We combine recent developments on weakly symmetric pseudo--riemannian nilmanifolds with with geometric methods for construction of unitary representations on square integrable Dolbeault cohomology spaces. This runs parallel to construction of discrete series representations on spaces of square integrable harmonic forms with values in holomorphic vector bundles over flag domains. Some special cases had been described by Satake in 1971 and the author in 1975. Here we develop a theory of pseudo--riemannian nilmanifolds of complex type and the nilmanifold versions of flag domains. We construct the…
