Some sharp inequalities of Gruss type for sequences of vectors in real or complex inner product spaces are obtained. Applications for Jensen's inequality for convex functions defined on such spaces are also provided.
In this paper, we use the Riemann-Liouville fractional integrals to establish some new integral inequalities of Ostrowski-Grüss type. From our results, the classical Ostrowski-Grüss type inequalities can be deduced as some special cases.
In this paper, we improve and further generalize some Ostrowski-Grüss type inequalities for the fractional integrals by using new Montogomery identities.
Several inequalities of Ostrowski-Gruss-type availabe in the literature are generalized by considering the weighted case of them. Involving the least concave majorant of the modulus of continuity we provide upper error bounds of such inequalities.
Some new counterparts of Bessel's inequality for orthornormal families in real or complex inner product spaces are pointed out. Applications for some Gruss type inequalities are also empahsized.
A new counterpart of Bessel's inequality for orthornormal families in real or complex inner product spaces is obtained. Applications for some Gruss type results are also provided.
We study functional inequality of the form $$|T(f,h)-T(f,g)T(g,h)| \leq F(f,g)F(g,h) -F(f,h)$$ where $T$ is a complex-valued functional and $F$ is a real-valued map. Motivation for our studies comes from some generalizations of Grüss inequality.
We prove a more general version of the Gruss inequality by using the recent theory of combined dynamic derivatives on time scales and the more general notions of diamond-alpha derivative and integral. For the particular case when alpha = 1, one gets a delta-integral Gruss inequality on time scales; for alpha = 0 a nabla-integral Gruss inequality. If we further restrict ourselves by fixing the time scale to the real (or integer) numbers, then the standard continuous (discrete) inequalities are obtained.
The classical form of Grüss' inequality, first published by G. Grüss in 1935, gives an estimate of the difference between the integral of the product and the product of the integrals of two functions. In the subsequent years, many variants of this inequality appeared in the literature. The aim of this paper is to introduce a different approach, presenting a new Chebyshev-Grüss-type inequality and applying it to different well-known linear, not necessarily positive, operators. Some conjectures are presented as well. We also compare the new inequalities with some older results. This new approach…
In this paper, using a fractional integral as proposed by Katugampola we establish a generalization of integral inequalities of Gruss-type. We prove two theorems associated with these inequalities and then immediately we enunciate and prove others inequalities associated with these fractional operator.
The main aim of this monograph is to survey some recent results obtained by the author related to reverses of the Schwarz, triangle and Bessel inequalities. Some Gruss' type inequalities for orthonormal families of vectors in real or complex inner product spaces are presented as well. Generalizations of the Boas-Bellman, Bombieri, Selberg, Heilbronn and Pecaric inequalities for finite sequences of vectors that are not necessarily orthogonal are also provided. Two extensions of the celebrated Ostrowski's inequalities for sequences or real numbers and the generalization of Wagner's inequality in…
We prove generalized weighted Ostrowski and Ostrowski--Grüss type inequalities on time scales via a parameter function. In particular, our result extends a result of Dragomir and Barnett. Furthermore, we apply our results to the continuous, discrete, and quantum cases, to obtain some interesting new inequalities.
In this work, an extension of two-point Ostrowski's formula for $n$-times differentiable functions is proved. A generalization of Taylor formula is deduced. An identity of Fink type for this extension is provided. Error estimates for the considered formulas are also given. Two-point Ostrowski-Gruss type inequalities are pointed out. An expansion of Guessab--Schmeisser two points formula for $n$-times differentiable functions via Fink type identity is established. Generalization of the main result for harmonic sequence of polynomials is established. Several bounds of the presented results are p…
The main object of this paper is to improve some of the known estimates for classical Kantorovich operators. A quantitative Voronovskaya-type result in terms of second moduli of continuity which improves some previous results is obtained. In order to explain non-multiplicativity of the Kantorovich operators a Chebyshev-Grüss inequality is given. Two Grüss-Voronovskaya theorems for Kantorovich operators are considered as well.
A counterpart of the famous Bessel's inequality for orthornormal families in real or complex inner product spaces is given. Applications for some Gruss type inequalities are also provided.
In this work, a generalization of Chebyshev functional is presented. New inequalities of Gruss type via Pompeiu's mean value theorem are established. Improvements of some old inequalities are proved. A generalization of pre-Gruss inequality is elaborated. Some remarks to further generalization of Chebyshev functional are presented. As applications, bounds for the reverse of CBS inequality are deduced. Hardy type inequalities on bounded real interval [a,b] under some other circumstances are introduced. Other related ramified inequalities for differentiable functions are also given.
For a probability measure $μ$ and for square integrable fields $(\mathscr{A}_t)$ and $(\mathscr{B}_t)$ ($t\inΩ$) of commuting normal operators we prove Landau type inequality \llu\int_Ω\mathscr{A}_tX\mathscr{B}_tdμ(t)- \int_Ω\mathscr{A}_t\,dμ(t)X \int_Ω\mathscr{B}_t\,dμ(t) \rru \le \llu \sqrt{\,\int_Ω|\mathscr{A}_t|^2\dt-|\int_Ω\mathscr{A}_t\dt|^2}X \sqrt{\,\int_Ω|\mathscr{B}_t|^2 \dt-|\int_Ω\mathscr{B}_t\dt|^2} \rru for all $X\in\mathcalb{B}(\mathcal{H})$ and for all unitarily invariant norms $\lluo\cdot\rruo$. For Schatten $p$-norms similar inequalities are given for arbitrary double square …
Reverses of Schwarz, triangle and Bessel inequalities in inner product spaces that improve some earlier results are pointed out. They are applied to obtain new Gruss type inequalities in inner product spaces. Some natural applications for integral inequalities are also pointed out.
New reverses of the Schwarz, triangle and Bessel inequalities in inner product spaces are pointed out. These results complement the recent ones obtained by the author in an earlier paper. Further, they are employed to establish new Gruss type inequalities. Finally, some natural integral inequalities are stated as well.
In this paper our aim is to deduce some complete monotonicity properties and functional inequalities for the Bickley function. The key tools in our proofs are the classical integral inequalities, like Chebyshev, Hölder-Rogers, Cauchy-Schwarz, Carlson and Grüss inequalities, as well as the monotone form of l'Hospital's rule. Moreover, we prove the complete monotonicity of a determinant function of which entries involve the Bickley function.
Assuming a unitarily invariant norm $|||\cdot|||$ is given on a two-sided ideal of bounded linear operators acting on a separable Hilbert space, it induces some unitarily invariant norms $|||\cdot|||$ on matrix algebras $\mathcal{M}_n$ for all finite values of $n$ via $|||A|||=|||A\oplus 0|||$. We show that if $\mathscr{A}$ is a $C^*$-algebra of finite dimension $k$ and $Φ: \mathscr{A} \to \mathcal{M}_n$ is a unital completely positive map, then \begin{equation*} |||Φ(AB)-Φ(A)Φ(B)||| \leq \frac{1}{4} |||I_{n}|||\,|||I_{kn}||| d_A d_B \end{equation*} for any $A,B \in \mathscr{A}$, where $d_X$ d…
We prove the Levin-Stečkin inequality using Chebyshev's inequality and symmetrization. Symmetry and slightly modified Chebyshev's inequality are also the key to an elementary proof of Clausing's inequality .
In this article we give some refinements of Simpson's Rule in cases when it is not applicable in it's classical form i.e., when the target function is not four times differentiable on a given interval. Some sharp two-sided inequalities for an extended form of Simpson's Rule are also proven.
We give a new proof for the self-improvement of uniform p-fatness in the setting of general metric spaces. Our proof is based on rather standard methods of geometric analysis, and in particular the proof avoids the use of deep results from potential theory and analysis on metric spaces that have been indispensable in the previous proofs of the self-improvement. A key ingredient in the proof is a self-improvement property for local Hardy inequalities.
We describe a recent, one-parameter family of characterizations of Sobolev and BV functions on $\mathbb{R}^n$, using sizes of superlevel sets of suitable difference quotients. This provides an alternative point of view to the BBM formula by Bourgain, Brezis and Mironescu, and complements in the case of BV some results of Cohen, Dahmen, Daubechies and DeVore about the sizes of wavelet coefficients of such functions. An application towards Gagliardo-Nirenberg interpolation inequalities is then given. We also establish a related one-parameter family of formulae for the $L^p$ norm of functions in …
