By means of a penalization argument due to del Pino and Felmer, we prove the existence of multi-spike solutions for a class of quasilinear elliptic equations under natural growth conditions. Compared with the semilinear case some difficulties arise, mainly concerning the properties of the limit equation. The study of concentration of the solutions requires a somewhat involved analysis in which a Pucci-Serrin type identity plays an important role.
In this paper, we apply the moving plane method to some degenerate elliptic equations to get a Liouville type theorem. As an application, we derive the a priori bounds for positive solutions of some semi-linear degenerate elliptic equations.

We study a Dirichlet problem in the entire space for some nonlocal degenerate elliptic operators with internal nonlinearities. With very mild assumptions on the boundary datum, we prove existence and uniqueness of the solution in the viscosity sense. If we further assume uniform ellipticity then the solution is shown to be classical, and even smooth if both the operator and the boundary datum are smooth.

In this paper, we prove the N-barrier maximum principle, which extends the result in [5] from linear diffusion equations to nonlinear diffusion equations, for a wide class of degenerate elliptic systems of porous medium type. This paper is devoted to the study of degenerate critical elliptic equations of Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg type. By means of blow-up analysis techniques, we prove an a-priori estimate in a weighted space of continuous functions. We study a nonlinear equation with an elliptic operator having degenerate coercivity. We prove the existence of a unique W^{1,1}_0 distributional solution under suitable summability assumptions on the source in Lebesgue spaces. Moreover, we prove that our problem has no solution if the source is a Radon measure concentrated on a set of zero harmonic capacity.

In the present paper, a class of fully non-linear elliptic equations are considered, which are degenerate as the gradient becomes small. Hölder estimates obtained by the first author (2011) are combined with new Lipschitz estimates obtained through the Ishii-Lions method in order to get $C^{1,α}$ estimates for solutions of these equations.

We are concerned with fully nonlinear possibly degenerate elliptic partial differential equations (PDEs) with superlinear terms with respect to $Du$. We prove several comparison principles among viscosity solutions which may be unbounded under some polynomial-type growth conditions. Our main result applies to PDEs with convex superlinear terms but we also obtain some results in nonconvex cases. Applications to monotone systems of PDEs are given.
We obtain optimal boundary and global regularity estimates for viscosity solutions of fully nonlinear elliptic equations whose ellipticity degenerates at the critical points of a given solution. We show that any solution is $C^{1,α}$ on the boundary of the domain, for an optimal and explicit $α$ given only in terms of the regularity of the boundary datum and the elliptic degeneracy degree, no matter how possibly low is the interior regularity for that class of equations. We obtain new local Calderon-Zygmund estimates for elliptic equations with matrix-valued weights for linear as well as non-linear equations. We introduce a novel log-BMO condition on the weight M. In particular, we assume smallness of the logarithm of the matrix-valued weight in BMO. This allows to include degenerate, discontinuous weights. We provide examples that show the sharpness of the estimates in terms of the log-BMO-norm.
We introduce a notion of subunit vector field for fully nonlinear degenerate elliptic equations. We prove that an interior maximum of a viscosity subsolution of such an equation propagates along the trajectories of subunit vector fields. This implies strong maximum and minimum principles when the operator has a family of subunit vector fields satisfying the Hörmander condition.
