We study automorphism groups of smooth quintic threefolds. Especially, we describe all the maximal ones with explicit examples of target quintic threefolds. There are exactly $22$ such groups.

We show that the total spaces of these Mori Fiber Spaces always contain relative A2-cylinders, and we characterize those admitting relative A3-cylinders in terms of the existence of certain special lines in their generic fibers.

We consider Calabi-Yau threefolds Y defined as smooth linear sections of the double cover of the quintic symmetric determinantal hypersurface in P^{14}. In our previous works, we have shown that these Calabi-Yau threefolds Y are naturally paired with Reye congruence Calabi-Yau threefolds X, and X and Y have several interesting properties from the view point of mirror symmetry and projective geometry.
