We study properties of the quantale spectrum Max A of an arbitrary unital C*-algebra A. In particular we show that the spatialization of Max A with respect to one of the notions of spatiality in the literature yields the locale of closed ideals of A when A is commutative. We study under general conditions functors with this property, in addition requiring that colimits be preserved, and we conclude in this case that the spectrum of A necessarily coincides with the locale of closed ideals of the commutative reflection of A. Finally, we address functorial properties of Max, namely studying (non-)preservation of limits and colimits. Although Max is not an equivalence of categories, therefore not providing a direct generalization of Gelfand duality to the noncommutative case, it is a faithful complete invariant of unital C*-algebras.

Toposes, quantales and C* algebras in the atomic case

We start by reviewing the relation between toposes and Grothendieck quantales. We improve results of previous work on this relation by giving both a characterisation of the map from the tensor product of two internal sup-lattices to another sup-lattice and a description of the category of internal locales of a topos in terms of the associated Grothendieck quantale. On quantales that classify C*-algebras

The functor Max of Mulvey assigns to each unital C*-algebra A the unital involutive quantale Max A of closed linear subspaces of A, and it has been remarked that it classifies unital C*-algebras up to *-isomorphism. Quantales and Fell bundles

We study Fell bundles on groupoids from the viewpoint of quantale theory. Given any saturated upper semicontinuous Fell bundle $π:E\to G$ on an étale groupoid $G$ with $G_0$ locally compact Hausdorff, equipped with a suitable completion C*-algebra $A$ of its convolution algebra, we obtain a map of involutive quantales $p:\mathrm{Max}\ A\toΩ(G)$, where $\mathrm{Max}\ A$ consists of the closed linear subspaces of $A$ and $Ω(G)$ is the topology of $G$. Spectral synthesis in the multiplier algebra of a C_0(X)-algebra

Let A be a C_0(X)-algebra. Then the multiplier algebra M(A) is a C(Y)-algebra in a natural way, where Y is the Stone-Cech compactification of X. Each x in X gives rise to an ideal J_x of A and an ideal H_x of M(A). The ideal J_x is contained in H_x, and H_x is contained in the strict closure of J_x in M(A). This paper studies the problem of determining when H_x is equal to the strict closure of J_x. THis can be interpreted as a problem of spectral synthesis type.

Spectral Metric Spaces on Extensions of C*-Algebras

We construct spectral triples on C*-algebraic extensions of unital C*-algebras by stable ideals satisfying a certain Toeplitz type property using given spectral triples on the quotient and ideal. Our construction behaves well with respect to summability and produces new spectral quantum metric spaces out of given ones. Using our construction we find new spectral triples on the quantum 2- and 3-spheres giving a new perspective on these algebras in noncommutative geometry.

$KK$-theory spectra for $C^\ast$-categories and discrete groupoid $C^\ast$-algebras

Compact Group Actions On Operator Algebras and Their Spectra

Operator $K$-theory algebra spectra of $C^*$-algebras

We construct commutative algebra spectra that represent the operator $K$-theory of $C^*$-algebras, which are algebras over the commutative ring spectra that represent topological $K$-theory. Spectral and homological properties of Hilbert modules over the disc algebra

We study general Hilbert modules over the disc algebra and exhibit necessary spectral conditions for the vanishing of certain associated extension groups. Spectral isometries onto algebras having a separating family of finite-dimensional irreducible representations

To each unital C*-algebra A we associate a presheaf Σ^A, called the spectral presheaf of A, which can be regarded as a generalised Gelfand spectrum.
