In this paper, we give a realization of crystal bases for quantum affine algebras using some new combinatorial objects which we call the Young walls. The Young walls consist of colored blocks with various shapes that are built on the given ground-state wall and can be viewed as generalizations of Young diagrams. The rules for building Young walls and the action of Kashiwara operators are given explicitly in terms of combinatorics of Young walls. The crystal graphs for basic representations are characterized as the set of all reduced proper Young walls. The characters of basic representations can be computed easily by counting the number of colored blocks that have been added to the ground-state wall.
We study finite-dimensional representations of quantum affine algebras using q-characters. We prove the conjectures from math.QA/9810055 and derive some of their corollaries. In particular, we prove that the tensor product of fundamental representations is reducible if and only if at least one of the corresponding normalized R-matrices has a pole.
Using combinatorics of Young walls, we give a new realization of arbitrary level irreducible highest weight crystals $\mathcal{B}(λ)$ for quantum affine algebras of type $A_n^{(1)}$, $B_n^{(1)}$, $C_n^{(1)}$, $A_{2n-1}^{(2)}$, $A_{2n}^{(2)}$, and $D_{n+1}^{(2)}$. The irreducible highest weight crystals are realized as the affine crystals consisting of reduced proper Young walls. The notion of slices and splitting of blocks plays a crucial role in the constructions of crystal graphs.
We give a realization of crystal graphs for basic representations of the quantum affine algebra U_q(C_n^{(1)}) using combinatorics of Young walls. The notion of splitting blocks plays a crucial role in the construction of crystal graphs.
We construct a subcrystal of the Littelmann's path crystal whose formal character coincides with that of a certain simple integrable module of level zero over the untwisted affine Lie algebra associated to sl_n. We also establish an analogue of the Littlewood-Richardson rule for the tensor product of that crystal with a highest weight crystal.
We construct the Fock space representations of classical quantum affine algebras using combinatorics of Young walls. We also show that the crystal graphs of the Fock space representations can be realized as the abstract crystal consisting of proper Young walls. Finally, we give a generalized version of Lascoux-Leclerc-Thibon algorithm for computing the global bases of the basic representations of classical quantum affine algebras.
We give a new realization of arbitrary level perfect crystals and arbitrary level irreducible highest weight crystals of type $D_n^{(1)}$, in the language of Young walls. The notions of splitting of blocks and slices play crucial roles in the construction of crystals. The perfect crystals are realized as the set of equivalence classes of slices. And the irreducible highest weight crystals are realized as the affine crystals consisting of reduced proper Young walls which, in turn, are concatenations of slices.
We study a $q$-deformation for the semi-direct product of the symmetric group $S_n$ with the Clifford algebra on $n$ anticommuting generators. We obtain a $q$-version of the projective analogue for the classical Young symmetrizer found by the second author [Adv. Math. 127(1997), 190-257]. Our main tool is an analogue of the Hecke algebra of complex valued functions on the group $GL_{n}$ over a $p$-adic field relative to the Iwahori subgroup.
We construct the Fock space representations for the quantum affine algebra of type $C_2^{(1)}$ in terms of Young walls. Using this construction, we give a generalized Lascoux-Leclerc-Thibon algorithm for computing the global bases of the basic representations.
J. Lepowsky and R. L. Wilson initiated the approach to combinatorial Rogers-Ramanujan type identities via the vertex operator constructions of representations of affine Lie algebras. In a joint work with Arne Meurman this approach is developed further in the framework of vertex operator algebras. The main ingredients of that construction are defining relations for standard modules and relations among them. The arguments involve both representation theory and combinatorics, the final results hold only for affine Lie algebras $A_1^{(1)}$ and $A_2^{(1)}$. In the present paper some of those argume…
We review and motivate recently-observed relationships between exactly solvable lattice models and modular representations of Hecke algebras. Firstly, we describe how the set of $n$-regular partitions label both of the following classes of objects: 1. The spectrum of unrestricted solid-on-solid lattice models based on level-1 representations of the affine algebras $\sl_n$, 2. The irreducible representations of type-A Hecke algebras at roots of unity: $H_m(\sqrt[n]{1})$. Secondly, we show that a certain subset of the $n$-regular partitions label both of the following classes of objects: 1. The …
The weight multiplicities of finite dimensional simple Lie algebras can be computed individually using various methods. Still, it is hard to derive explicit closed formulas. Similarly, explicit closed formulas for the multiplicities of maximal weights of affine Kac--Moody algebras are not known in most cases. In this paper, we study weight multiplicities for both finite and affine cases of classical types for certain infinite families of highest weights modules. We introduce new classes of Young tableaux, called the {\em $($spin$)$ rigid tableaux}, and prove that they are equinumerous to the w…
We study finite-dimensional representations of quantum affine algebras of type $B_N$. We show that a module is tame if and only if it is thin. In other words, the Cartan currents are diagonalizable if and only if all joint generalized eigenspaces have dimension one. We classify all such modules and describe their $q$-characters. In some cases, the $q$-characters are described by super standard Young tableaux of type $(2N|1)$.
Denote by $N \subset SL_k$ the subgroup of unipotent upper triangular matrices. In this paper, we show that the dual canonical basis of $\mathbb{C}[N]$ (and base affine spaces) can be parameterized by semi-standard Young tableaux. Moreover, we give an explicit formula for every element in the the dual canonical basis using the data of the corresponding semistandard Young tableau. We apply our results to study cluster variables in $\mathbb{C}[N]$.
We construct a Fock space representation and the action of the two-parameter quantum algebra $U_{r,s}(\frak{gl}_{\infty})$ using extended Young diagrams. In particular, we obtain an integrable representation of the two-parameter quantum affine algebra of type $C_n^{(1)}$ which is a two-parameter generalization of Kang-Misra-Miwa's realization.
We explore combinatorics associated with the degenerate Hecke algebra at $q=0$, obtaining a formula for a system of orthogonal idempotents, and also exploring various pattern avoidance results. Generalizing constructions for the 0-Hecke algebra, we explore the representation theory of $\JJ$-trivial monoids. We then discuss two-tensors of crystal bases for $U_q(\tilde{\mathfrak{sl}_2})$, establishing a complementary result to one of Bandlow, Schilling, and Thiéry on affine crystals arising from promotion operators. Finally, we give a computer implementation of Stembridge's local axioms for simp…
We first describe how the Kashiwara involution on crystals of affine type $A$ is encoded by the combinatorics of aperiodic multisegments. This yields a simple relation between this involution and the Zelevinsky involution on the set of simple modules for the affine Hecke algebras. We then give efficient procedures for computing these involutions. Remarkably, these procedures do not use the underlying crystal structure. They also permit to match explicitly the Ginzburg and Ariki parametrizations of the simple modules associated to affine and cyclotomic Hecke algebras, respectively .
The $k$-Young lattice $Y^k$ is a partial order on partitions with no part larger than $k$. This weak subposet of the Young lattice originated from the study of the $k$-Schur functions(atoms) $s_λ^{(k)}$, symmetric functions that form a natural basis of the space spanned by homogeneous functions indexed by $k$-bounded partitions. The chains in the $k$-Young lattice are induced by a Pieri-type rule experimentally satisfied by the $k$-Schur functions. Here, using a natural bijection between $k$-bounded partitions and $k+1$-cores, we establish an algorithm for identifying chains in the $k$-Young l…
We introduce and study some affine Hecke algebras of type ADE, generalising the affine Hecke algebras of GL. We construct irreducible calibrated representations and describe the calibrated spectrum. This is done in terms of new families of combinatorial objects equipped with actions of the corresponding Weyl groups. These objects are built from and generalise the usual standard Young tableaux, and are controlled by the considered affine Hecke algebras. By restriction and limiting procedure, we obtain several combinatorial models for representations of finite Hecke algebras and Weyl groups of t…
An action of the Yangian of the general Lie algebra gl(N) is defined on every irreducible integrable highest weight module of affine gl(N) with level greater than 1. This action is derived, by means of the Drinfeld duality and a subsequent semi-infinite limit, from a certain induced representation of the degenerate double affine Hecke algebra H. Each vacuum module of affine gl(N) is decomposed into irreducible Yangian subrepresentations by means of the intertwiners of H. Components of this decomposition are parameterized by semi-infinite skew Young diagrams.
Let $\mathfrak g$ be an affine Lie algebra with index set $I = \{0, 1, 2, \cdots , n\}$ and ${\mathfrak g}^L$ be its Langlands dual. It is conjectured by Kashiwara et al.([16]) that for each $k \in I \setminus \{0\}$ the affine Lie algebra $\mathfrak g$ has a positive geometric crystal whose ultra-discretization is isomorphic to the limit of certain coherent family of perfect crystals for ${\mathfrak g}^L$. Motivated by this conjecture we construct a positive geometric crystal for the affine Lie algebra ${\mathfrak g}= A^{(1)}_n$ for each Dynkin index $k\in I\setminus\{0\}$ and show that its u…
We give a realization of crystal graphs for basic representations of the quantum affine algebra $U_q(C_2^{(1)})$ in terms of new combinatorial objects called the Young walls.
We construct all fundamental modules for the two parameter quantum affine algebra of type $A$ using a combinatorial model of Young diagrams. In particular we also give a fermionic realization of the two-parameter quantum affine algebra.
The spectral decomposition of the path space of the vertex model associated to the vector representation of the quantized affine algebra $U_q(\hat{sl}_n)$ is studied. We give a one-to-one correspondence between the spin configurations and the semi-standard tableaux of skew Young diagrams. As a result we obtain a formula of the characters for the degeneracy of the spectrum in terms of skew Schur functions. We conjecture that our result describes the $sl_n$-module contents of the Yangian $Y(sl_n)$-module structures of the level 1 integrable modules of the affine Lie algebra $\hat{sl}_n$. An anal…
In this paper we study a family of commutative algebras generated by two infinite sets of generators. These algebras are parametrized by Young diagrams. We explain a connection of these algebras with the fusion product of integrable irreducible representations of the affine $sl_2$ Lie algebra. As an application we derive a fermionic formula for the character of the affine fusion product of two modules. These fusion products can be considered as a simplest example of the double affine Demazure modules.
We decompose the level-1 irreducible highest weight modules of the quantum affine algebra $U_q(\hat{sl}_n)$ with respect to the level-0 $U'_q (\hat{sl}_n)$--action defined in q-alg/9702024. The decomposition is parameterized by the skew Young diagrams of the border strip type.
For irreducible integrable highest weight modules of the finite and affine Lie algebras of type A and D, we define an isomorphism between the geometric realization of the crystal graphs in terms of irreducible components of Nakajima quiver varieties and the combinatorial realizations in terms of Young tableaux and Young walls. For affine type A, we extend the Young wall construction to arbitrary level, describing a combinatorial realization of the crystals in terms of new objects which we call Young pyramids.
We introduce and study an affine analogue of skew Young diagrams and tableaux on them. It turns out that the double affine Hecke algebra of type $A$ acts on the space spanned by standard tableaux on each diagram. It is shown that the modules obtained this way are irreducible, and they exhaust all irreducible modules of a certain class over the double affine Hecke algebra. In particular, the classification of irreducible modules of this class, announced by Cherednik, is recovered.
We characterize, in the case of affine sl(2), the crystal base of the Demazure module E_w(\La) in terms of extended Young diagrams or paths for any dominant integral weight \La and Weyl group element w. Its character is evaluated via two expressions, 'bosonic' and 'fermionic'.
With the help of path realization and affine energy function, we give a Young wall construction of level-1 highest weight crystals $B(λ)$ over $U_{q}(G_{2}^{(1)})$ and $U_{q}(D_{4}^{(3)})$. Our construction is based on four different shapes of colored blocks, $\mathbf O$-block, $\mathbf I$-block, $\mathbf L$-block and $\mathbf{LL}$-block, obtained by cutting the unit cube in three different ways.
