Let G be a compact, locally L-analytic group, where L is a finite extension of Qp. Let K be a discretely valued extension field of L. We study the algebra D(G,K) of K-valued locally analytic distributions on G, and apply our results to the locally analytic representation theory of G in vector spaces over K. Our objective is to lay a useful and powerful foundation for the further study of such representations.
We show that the noncommutative, nonnoetherian ring D(G,K) "behaves" like the ring of functions on a rigid Stein space, and that (at least when G is Qp-analytic) it is a faithfully flat extension of its subring K\otimes Zp[[G]], where Zp[[G]] is the completed group ring of G. We use this point of view to describe an abelian subcategory of D(G,K) modules that we call coadmissible.
We say that a locally analytic representation V of G is admissible if its strong dual is coadmissible as D(G,K)-module. For noncompact G, we say V is admissible if its strong dual is coadmissible as D(H,K) module for some compact open subgroup H. In this way we obtain an abelian category of admissible locally analytic representations. These methods allow us to answer a number of questions raised in our earlier papers on p-adic representations; for example we show the existence of analytic vectors in the admissible Banach space representations of G that we studied in "Banach space representations ...", Israel J. Math. 127, 359-380 (2002).
Finally we construct a dimension theory for D(G,K), which behaves for coadmissible modules like a regular ring, and show that smooth admissible representations are zero dimensional.
Building on recent work of Ardakov and Wadsley, we prove Schur's lemma for absolutely irreducible admissible p-adic Banach space (respectively locally analytic) representations of p-adic Lie groups. We also prove finiteness results for the endomorphism algebra of an irreducible admissible representation.
We give a classification of irreducible admissible modulo $p$ representations of a split $p$-adic reductive group in terms of supersingular representations. This is a generalization of a theorem of Herzig.
Let F be a finite extension of Q_p. Using the mod p Satake transform, we define what it means for an irreducible admissible smooth representation of an F-split p-adic reductive group over \bar F_p to be supersingular. We then give the classification of irreducible admissible smooth GL_n(F)-representations over \bar F_p in terms of supersingular representations. As a consequence we deduce that supersingular is the same as supercuspidal. These results generalise the work of Barthel-Livne for n = 2. For general split reductive groups we obtain similar results under stronger hypotheses.
We classify the irreducible, admissible, smooth, genuine mod p representations of the metaplectic double cover of SL(2,F), where F is a p-adic field and p is odd. We show, using a generalized Satake transform, that each such representation is isomorphic to a certain explicit quotient of a compact induction from a maximal compact subgroup by an action of a spherical Hecke operator, and we define a parameter for the representation in terms of this data. We show that our parameters distinguish genuine nonsupercuspidal representations from genuine supercuspidals, and that every irreducible genuine…
A finite group G is K-admissible if there exists a G-crossed product K-division algebra. In this manuscript we study the behavior of admissibility under extensions of number fields M/K. We show that in many cases, including Sylow metacyclic and nilpotent groups whose order is prime to the number of roots of unity in M, a K-admissible group G is M-admissible if and only if G satisfies the easily verifiable Liedahl condition over M.
Let F be a locally compact non-archimedean field, p its residue characteristic, and G a connected reductive group over F. Let C an algebraically closed field of characteristic p. We give a complete classification of irreducible admissible C-representations of G = G(F), in terms of supercuspidal C-representations of the Levi subgroups of G, and parabolic induction. Thus we push to their natural conclusion the ideas of the third-named author, who treated the case G = GL_m, as further expanded by the first-named author, who treated split groups G. As in the split case, we first get a classificati…
In this paper we study certain category of smooth modules for reductive $p$--adic groups analogous to the usual smooth complex representations but with the field of complex numbers replaced by a $\mathbb Q$--algebra. We prove some fundamental results in these settings, and as an example we give a classification of admissible unramified irreducible representations proving by reduction to the complex case that if the space of $K$--invariants is finite dimensional in an irreducible smooth unramified representation that the representation is admissible.
We prove a finiteness result for the p-adic cohomology of the Lubin-Tate tower. For any n>=1 and p-adic field F, this provides a canonical functor from admissible p-adic representations of GL_n(F) towards admissible p-adic representations of Gal_F x D^*, where Gal_F is the absolute Galois group of F, and D/F is the central division algebra of invariant 1/n. Moreover, we verify a local-global-compatibility statement for this correspondence, and compatibility with the patching construction of Caraiani-Emerton-Gee-Geraghty-Paskunas-Shin.
We prove the Fargues-Rapoport conjecture for p-adic period domains in the non-basic case with minuscule cocharacter. More precisely, we give a group theoretical criterion for the cases when the admissible locus and weakly admissible locus coincide.
Given a compact p-adic Lie group G over a finite unramified extension L/Q_p let G_0 be the product over all Galois conjugates of G. We construct an exact and faithful functor from admissible G-Banach space representations to admissible locally L-analytic G_0-representations that coincides with passage to analytic vectors in case L=Q_p. On the other hand, we study the functor "passage to analytic vectors" and its derived functors over general basefields. As an application we determine the higher analytic vectors in certain locally analytic induced representations.
We prove the Fargues-Rapoport conjecture for p-adic period domains: for a reductive group G over a p-adic field and a minuscule cocharacter μ of G, the weakly admissible locus coincides with the admissible one if and only if the Kottwitz set B(G,μ) is fully Hodge-Newton decomposable.
In 1993 David Vogan proposed a basis for the vector space of stable distributions on $p$-adic groups using the microlocal geometry of moduli spaces of Langlands parameters. In the case of general linear groups, distribution characters of irreducible admissible representations, taken up to equivalence, form a basis for the vector space of stable distributions. In this paper we show that these two bases, one putative, cannot be equal. Specifically, we use the Kashiwara-Saito singularity to find a non-Arthur type irreducible admissible representation of $p$-adic $\mathop{GL}_{16}$ whose ABV-packe…
We prove that if $W$ and $W'$ are two $B$-pairs whose tensor product is crystalline (or semi-stable or de Rham or Hodge-Tate), then there exists a character $μ$ such that $W(μ^{-1})$ and $W'(μ)$ are crystalline (or semi-stable or de Rham or Hodge-Tate). We also prove that if $W$ is a $B$-pair and $F$ is a Schur functor (for example $\Sym^n(-)$ or $Λ^n(-)$) such that $F(W)$ is crystalline (or semi-stable or de Rham or Hodge-Tate) and if the rank of $W$ is sufficiently large, then there is a character $μ$ such that $W(μ^{-1})$ is crystalline (or semi-stable or de Rham or Hodge-Tate). In particul…
Let $F$ be a local field with residue characteristic $p$, let $C$ be an algebraically closed field of characteristic $p$, and let $\mathbf{G}$ be a connected reductive $F$-group. In a previous paper, Florian Herzig and the authors classified irreducible admissible $C$-representations of $G=\mathbf{G}(F)$ in terms of supercuspidal representations of Levi subgroups of $G$. Here, for a parabolic subgroup $P$ of $G$ with Levi subgroup $M$ and an irreducible admissible $C$-representation $τ$ of $M$, we determine the lattice of subrepresentations of $\mathrm{Ind}_P^G τ$ and we show that $\mathrm{Ind…
We prove a conjecture of Colmez concerning the reduction modulo $p$ of invariant lattices in irreducible admissible unitary $p$-adic Banach space representations of $GL_2(Q_p)$ with $p\ge 5$. This enables us to restate nicely the $p$-adic local Langlands correspondence for $GL_2(Q_p)$ and deduce a conjecture of Breuil on irreducible admissible unitary completions of locally algebraic representations.
We prove that the canonical dimension of an admissible Banach space or a locally analytic representation of an arbitrary semisimple p-adic Lie group is either zero or at least half the dimension of a non-zero coadjoint orbit. This extends the results of Ardakov-Wadsley and Schmidt in the split semisimple case.
This article gives a new proof of the fundamental lemma of the "weakly admissible implies admissible" theorem of Colmez-Fontaine that describes the semi-stable p-adic representations. To this end, we introduce the category of spectral Banach spaces, which are p-adic Banach spaces with a C_p-algebra of analytic functions, and the subcategory of effective Banach-Colmez spaces. The fundamental lemma states the surjectivity of certain analytic maps and describes their kernel. It is proven by an explicit count of solutions of the equations defining these maps. It is equivalent to the existence of f…
We show that the continuous cohomology groups of a $ p $-adic reductive group with coefficients in the locally analytic vectors of an admissible $ \mathbb{Q}_p $-Banach space representation are homeomorphic to those with coefficients in the Banach space representation itself. Moreover, we deduce that the canonical topologies on those continuous cohomology groups are Hausdorff and are the uniquely determined finest locally convex topologies.
Let $K$ be a discrete valuation field with perfect residue field, we study the functor from weakly admissible filtered $(φ,N,G_K)$-modules over $K$ to the isogeny category of Breuil-Kisin-Fargues $G_K$-modules. This functor is the composition of a functor defined by Fargues-Fontaine from weakly admissible filtered $(φ,N,G_K)$-modules to $G_K$-equivariant modifications of vector bundles over the Fargues-Fontaine curve $X_{FF}$, with the functor of Fargues-Scholze that between the category of admissible modifications of vector bundles over $X_{FF}$ and the isogeny category of Breuil-Kisin-Fargue…
We give a new proof of the "weakly admissible implies admissible" theorem of Colmez and Fontaine describing the semi-stable p-adic representations. We study Banach-Colmez spaces, i.e. p-adic Banach spaces with the extra data of a C_p-algebra of analytic functions. The "weakly admissible" theorem is then a result of the existence of dimension and height functions on these objects. Furthermore, we show that the subcategory of Banach-Colmez spaces corresponding to crystalline representations is naturally filtered by the positive rationals.
In [BS07] Breuil and Schneider formulated a conjecture on the equivalence of the existence of invariant norms on certain $p$-adically locally algebraic representations of $GL_n(F)$ and the existence of certain de-Rham representations of $Gal(\bar{F}/F)$, where $F$ is a finite extension of $\mathbb{Q}_p$. In [Bre03b, DI13] Breuil and de Ieso proved that in the case $n = 2$ and under some restrictions, the existence of certain admissible filtrations on the $ϕ$-module associated to the two-dimensional de-Rham representation of $Gal(\bar{F}/F)$ implies the existence of invariant norms on the corre…
In this paper, we study the fine Selmer groups of two congruent Galois representations over an admissible $p$-adic Lie extension. We show that under appropriate congruence conditions, if the dual fine Selmer group of one is pseudo-null, so is the other. Our results also compare the $π$-primary submodules of the two dual fine Selmer groups. We then apply our results to compare the structure of Galois group of the maximal abelian unramified pro-$p$ extension of an admissible $p$-adic Lie extension and the structure of the dual fine Selmer group over the said admissible $p$-adic Lie extension.
Let $D$ be the non-split quaternion algebra over $\mathbb{Q}_p$. We prove that a class of admissible unitary Banach space representations of $D^{\times}$ of global origin are topologically of finite length.
As an example of relative p-adic Hodge theory, we sketch the construction of the universal admissible filtration of an isocrystal (ϕ$-module) over the completion of the maximal unramified extension of Q_p, together with the associated universal crystalline local system.
Let f be a cuspidal newform with complex multiplication (CM) and let p be an odd prime at which f is non-ordinary. We construct admissible p-adic L-functions for the symmetric powers of f, thus verifying general conjectures of Dabrowski and Panchishkin in this special case. We also construct their "mixed" plus and minus counterparts and prove an analogue of Pollack's decomposition of the admissible p-adic L-functions into mixed plus and minus p-adic L-functions. On the arithmetic side, we define corresponding mixed plus and minus Selmer groups. We unite the arithmetic with the analytic by firs…
We describe the generic blocks in the category of smooth locally admissible mod $2$ representations of $\mathrm{GL}_2(\mathbb{Q}_2)$. As an application we obtain new cases of Breuil--Mézard and Fontaine--Mazur conjectures for $2$-dimensional $2$-adic Galois representations.
Let G be a connected simple adjoint p-adic group not isomorphic to a projective linear group PGL(m,D) of a division algebra D, or an adjoint ramified unitary group of a split hermitian form in 3 variables. We prove that G admits an irreducible admissible supercuspidal (i.e. supersingular) representation over any field of characteristic p.
We prove that the canonical dimension of a coadmissible representation of a semisimple $p$-adic Lie group in a $p$-adic Banach space is either zero or at least half the dimension of a non-zero coadjoint orbit. To do this we establish analogues for $p$-adically completed enveloping algebras of Bernstein's inequality for modules over Weyl algebras, the Beilinson-Bernstein localisation theorem and Quillen's Lemma about the endomorphism ring of a simple module over an enveloping algebra.
We show that basic notions of locally analytic representation theory can be reformulated in the language of topological coalgebras (Hopf algebras) and comodules. We introduce the notion of admissible comodule and show that it corresponds to the notion of admissible representation in the case of topological Hopf algebra of locally analytic functions on a compact $p$-adic group.
We define coadmissible equivariant $\mathcal{D}$-modules on smooth rigid analytic spaces and relate them to admissible locally analytic representations of semisimple $p$-adic Lie groups.
Let $\mathbf{B}(V)$ be the admissible unitary $GL_2(\mathbb{Q}_p)$-representation associated to two dimensional crystalline Galois representation $V$ by $p$-adic Langlands constructed by Breuil. Berger and Breuil conjectured an explicit description of the locally analytic vectors $\mathbf{B}(V)_{\mathrm{la}}$ of $\mathbf{B}(V)$ which is now proved by Liu. Emerton recently studied $p$-adic representations from the viewpoint of rigid analytic geometry. In this article, we consider certain rigid analytic subgroups of $GL(2)$ and give an explicit description of the rigid analytic vectors in $\math…
In this paper we study the $p$-adic equation $x^q=a$ over the field of $p$-adic numbers. We construct an algorithm of calculation of criteria of solvability in the case of $q=p^m$ and present a computer program to compute the criteria for fixed value of $m \leq p-1$. Moreover, using this solvability criteria for $q=2,3,4,5,6$, we classify $p$-adic 6-dimensional filiform Leibniz algebras.
We reprove two results of Saltman, Theorem 5.1 and Corollary 5.2 of [Sa07]: If F is the function field of a smooth p-adic curve and D is an F-division algebra of prime degree l\neq p, then D is Z/l-cyclic, and that if D is an F-division algebra of prime period l\neq p then D has index l if and only if its ramification locus on a suitable 2-dimensional model forF has no "hot points".
We give an overview of the theory of $\wideparen{\mathcal{D}}$-modules on rigid analytic spaces and its applications to admissible locally analytic representations of $p$-adic Lie groups.
Let K be a locally compact nonarchimedean field, g a split reductive Lie algebra over K and U(g) its universal enveloping algebra. We study the category C_g of coadmissible modules over the nonarchimedean Arens-Michael envelope of U(g). Let p be a parabolic subalgebra of g. The main result identifies a certain explicitly given highest weight category inside C_g with the classical parabolic BGG category of g relative to p. This paper is in final form, replaces and expands the former preprint 'BGG reciprocity for p-adic Arens-Michael envelopes of semisimple Lie algebras' and appears in Journal o…
In this paper we consider the (affine) Schur algebra introduced by Vignéras as the endomorphism algebra of certain permutation modules for the Iwahori-Matsumoto Hecke algebra. This algebra describes, for a general linear group over a $p$-adic field, a large part of the unipotent block over fields of characteristic different from $p$. We show that this Schur algebra is, after a suitable completion, isomorphic to the quiver Schur algebra attached to the cyclic quiver. The isomorphism is explicit, but nontrivial. As a consequence, the completed (affine) Schur algebra inherits a grading. As a bypr…
Bachmann, Takeyama and Tasaka introduced a $\mathbb{Q}$-linear map $ϕ$, which we call the symmetrization map in this paper, on the harmonic algebra $\mathfrak{H}^1$. They calculated $ϕ(w)$ explicitly for an element $w$ in $\mathfrak{H}^1$ related to the multiple zeta values of Mordell--Tornheim type. In this paper, we introduce its $t$-adic generalization $\widehatϕ$ and calculate $\widehatϕ(w)$ for an element $w$ in $\mathfrak{H}^1[[t]]$ constructed from the theory of $2$-colored rooted tree.
Let $G$ be a $p$-adic Lie group associated to a connected reductive group over $\mathbb{Q}_{p}$. Let $P$ be a parabolic subgroup of $G$ and let $M$ be a Levi quotient of $P$. In this paper, we define a $δ$-functor $H^{\star}J_{P}$ from the category of admissible locally analytic $G$-representations to the category of essentially admissible locally analytic $M$-representations that extends the Jacquet-Emerton module functor $J_{P}$ defined by Emerton.
This survey article, is written as an extended note and supplement of my lectures in the current developments in mathematics conference in 2015. We discuss some recent developments on the conjugacy classes of affine Weyl groups and $p$-adic groups, and some applications to Shimura varieties and to representations of affine Hecke algebras.
Let F be the function field of a curve over a p-adic field. Let D/F be a central division algebra of prime exponent $\ell$ which is different from p. Assume that F contains a primitive ${\ell}^2$-th root of unity. Then the group $SK_1(D):=SL_1(D)/[D^*, D^*]$ is trivial.
