In this paper we prove some results about K3 surfaces with Picard number 1 and 2. In particular, we give a new simple proof of a theorem due to Oguiso which shows that, given an integer $N$, there is a K3 surface with Picard number 2 and at least $N$ non-isomorphic FM-partners. We describe also the Mukai vectors of the moduli spaces associated to the Fourier-Mukai partners of K3 surfaces with Picard number 1.
We show that the second Chern character of any projective toric manifold of Picard number three is not ample. In connection with this result, we give various examples of the positivity of higher Chern characters of projective toric manifolds.
We study the smooth projective symmetric variety of Picard number one that compactifies the exceptional complex Lie group G2, by describing it in terms of vector bundles on the spinor variety of Spin(14). We call it the double Cayley Grassmannian because quite remarkably, it exhibits very similar properties to those of the Cayley Grassmannian (the other symmetric variety of type G2), but doubled in the certain sense. We deduce among other things that all smooth projective symmetric varieties of Picard number one are infinitesimally rigid.
Let $C$ be a curve on a K3 surface $X$ with Picard group $\mathbb{Z}.[C]$. Mukai's program seeks to recover $X$ from $C$ by exhibiting it as a Fourier-Mukai partner to a Brill-Noether locus of vector bundles on $C$. We use wall-crossing in the space of Bridgeland stability conditions to prove this for genus $\ge14$. This paper deals with the case $g-1$ prime left over from Paper I.
We study the family of K3 surfaces of Picard rank sixteen associated with the double cover of the projective plane branched along the union of six lines, and the family of its Van Geemen-Sarti partners, i.e., K3 surfaces with special Nikulin involutions, such that quotienting by the involution and blowing up recovers the former. We prove that the family of Van Geemen-Sarti partners is a four-parameter family of K3 surfaces with $H \oplus E_7(-1) \oplus E_7(-1)$ lattice polarization. We describe explicit Weierstrass models on both families using even modular forms on the bounded symmetric domai…
Suppose that a Hilbert scheme of points on a K3 surface S of Picard rank one admits a rational Lagrangian fibration. We show that if the degree of the surface is sufficiently large compared to the number of points, then the Hilbert scheme is the unique hyperkähler manifold in its birational class. In particular, the Hilbert scheme is a Lagrangian fibration itself, which we realize as coming from a (twisted) Beauville-Mukai system on a Fourier-Mukai partner of S. We also show that when the degree of the surface is small our method can be used to find all birational models of the Hilbert scheme.
We prove that ideal sheaves of lines in a Fano threefold $X$ of Picard rank one and index two are stable objects in the Kuznetsov component $\mathsf{Ku}(X)$, with respect to the stability conditions constructed by Bayer, Lahoz, Macrì and Stellari, giving a modular description to the Hilbert scheme of lines in $X$. When $X$ is a cubic threefold, we show that the Serre functor of $\mathsf{Ku}(X)$ preserves these stability conditions. As an application, we obtain the smoothness of non-empty moduli spaces of stable objects in $\mathsf{Ku}(X)$. When $X$ is a quartic double solid, we describe a conn…
This note is a short survey on the Lefschetz defect, an invariant of smooth Fano varieties that has been recently introduced; it is related to the Picard number rho(X) of X, and to the Picard number of prime divisors in X. We explain the definition of the Lefschetz defect delta(X) and its origin, the known results - mainly on the case delta(X)>1, and several examples, especially in dimensions 3 and 4. In particular, we explain how the results on the Lefschetz defect allow to recover the classification of Fano 3-folds with rho(X)>4, due to Mori and Mukai. We also review the known examples of Fa…
Mukai's program seeks to recover a K3 surface $X$ from any curve $C$ on it by exhibiting it as a Fourier-Mukai partner to a Brill-Noether locus of vector bundles on the curve. In the case $X$ has Picard number one and the curve $C\in |H|$ is primitive, this was confirmed by Feyzbakhsh for $g\geq 11$ and $g\neq 12$. More recently, Feyzbakhsh has shown that certain moduli spaces of stable bundles on $X$ are isomorphic to the Brill-Noether locus of curves in $|H|$ if $g$ is sufficiently large. In this paper, we work with irreducible curves in a non-primitive ample linear system $|mH|$ and prove t…
