In this article we develop some aspects of the construction of new Hopf algebras found recently by Andruskiewitsch and Schneider. There the authors classified (under some slight restrictions) all pointed finite dimensional Hopf algebras with coradical (Z/p)^s. We contribute to this work by giving a closer description of the possible ``exotic'' linkings.
A detailed presentation of the results obtained during my Ph.D. research. The main investigations concern explicit descriptions of classes of finite dimensional pointed Hopf algebras and their quasi-isomorphism types.
We present a classification of characteristic Dynkin diagrams for the $A_N$, $B_N$, $C_N$ and $D_N$ algebras. This classification is related to the classification of \cw(\cg,\ck) algebras arising from non-Abelian Toda models, and we argue that it can give new insight on the structure of $W$ algebras.
In this note we illustrate by a few examples the general principle: interesting algebras and representations defined over Z_+ come from category theory, and are best understood when their categorical origination has been discovered. We show that indecomposable Z_+-representations of the character ring of SU(2) satisfying certain conditions correspond to affine and infinite Dynkin diagrams with loops. We also show that irreducible Z_+-representations of the Verlinde algebra (the character ring of the quantum group SU(2)_q, where q is a root of unity), satisfying similar conditions correspond to…
The theory of cluster algebras of S. Fomin and A. Zelevinsky has assigned a fan to each Dynkin diagram. Then A. Buan, R. Marsh, M. Reineke, I. Reiten and G. Todorov have generalized this construction using arbitrary quivers on Dynkin diagrams. In the special case of the unioriented quiver of type A, we describe the cohomology ring of the toric variety associated to this fan. A natural base is obtained and an explicit rule is given for the product of any two generators.
Let D be a connected graph. The Dynkin complex CD(A) of a D-algebra A was introduced by the second author in [TL2] to control the deformations of quasi-Coxeter algebra structures on A. In the present paper, we study the cohomology of this complex when A is the group algebra of a Coxeter group W and D is the Dynkin diagram of W. We compute this cohomology when W is finite and prove in particular the rigidity of quasi-Coxeter algebra structures on kW. For an arbitrary W, we compute the top cohomology group and obtain a number of additional partial results when W is affine. Our computations are c…
We introduce and study the twisted adapted $r$-cluster point and its combinatorial Auslander-Reiten quivers, called twisted AR-quivers and folded AR-quivers, of type $A_{2n+1}$ which are closely related to twisted Coxeter elements and the non-trivial Dynkin diagram automorphism. As applications of the study, we prove that folded AR-quivers encode crucial information on the representation theory of quantum affine algebra $U_q'(B^{(1)}_{n+1})$ such as Dorey's rule and denominator formulas.
Any automorphism of the Dynkin diagram of a symmetrizable Kac-Moody algebra induces an automorphism of the algebra and a mapping between its highest weight modules. For a large class of such Dynkin diagram automorphisms, we can describe various aspects of these maps in terms of another Kac-Moody algebra, the `orbit Lie algebra'. In particular, the generating function for the trace of the map on modules, the `twining character', is equal to a character of the orbit Lie algebra. Orbit Lie algebras and twining characters constitute a crucial step towards solving the fixed point resolution problem…
As a continuation of the previous paper, we find a combinatorial interpretation of Dorey's rule for type $C_n$ via twisted Auslander-Reiten quivers (AR-quivers) of type $D_{n+1}$, which are combinatorial AR-quivers related to certain Dynkin diagram automorphisms. Combinatorial properties of twisted AR-quivers are useful to understand not only Dorey's rule but also other notions in the representation theory of the quantum affine algebra $U_q'(C_n^{(1)})$ such as denominator formulas. In addition, unlike twisted adapted classes of type $A_{2n-1}$ in the previous paper, we show twisted AR-quivers…
Zamolodchikov periodicity is periodicity of certein recursions associated with box products $X \square Y$ of two finite type Dynkin diagrams. We suggest an affine analog of Zamolodchikov periodicity, which we call Zamolodchikov integrability. We conjecture that it holds for products $X \square Y$, where $X$ is a finite type Dynkin diagram and $Y$ is an extended Dynkin diagram. We prove this conjecture for the case of $A_m \square A_{2n-1}^{(1)}$. The proof employs cluster structures in certain classical rings of invariants, previously studied by S. Fomin and the author.
The author, and independently De Concini, conjectured that the monodromy of the Casimir connection of a simple Lie algebra g is described by the quantum Weyl group operators of the quantum group U_h(g). The aim of this paper, and of its sequel [TL4], is to prove this conjecture. The proof relies upon the use of quasi-Coxeter algebras, which are to generalised braid groups what Drinfeld's quasitriangular quasibialgebras are to the Artin braid groups B_n. Using an appropriate deformation cohomology, we reduce the conjecture to the existence of a quasi-Coxeter, quasitriangular quasibialgebra stru…
In Kac's classification of finite-dimensional Lie superalgebras, the contragredient ones can be constructed from Dynkin diagrams similar to those of the simple finite-dimensional Lie algebras, but with additional types of nodes. For example, $A(n-1,0) = \mathfrak{sl}(1|n)$ can be constructed by adding a "gray" node to the Dynkin diagram of $A_{n-1} = \mathfrak{sl}(n)$, corresponding to an odd null root. The Cartan superalgebras constitute a different class, where the simplest example is $W(n)$, the derivation algebra of the Grassmann algebra on $n$ generators. Here we present a novel construct…
The affine Dynkin diagram of type $A_n^{(1)}$ has a cyclic symmetry. The analogue of this Dynkin diagram automorphism on the level of crystals is called a promotion operator. In this paper we show that the only irreducible type $A_n$ crystals which admit a promotion operator are the highest weight crystals indexed by rectangles. In addition we prove that on the tensor product of two type $A_n$ crystals labeled by rectangles, there is a single connected promotion operator. We conjecture this to be true for an arbitrary number of tensor factors. Our results are in agreement with Kashiwara's conj…
Groupoidification is a form of categorification in which vector spaces are replaced by groupoids, and linear operators are replaced by spans of groupoids. We introduce this idea with a detailed exposition of 'degroupoidification': a systematic process that turns groupoids and spans into vector spaces and linear operators. Then we present two applications of groupoidification. The first is to Feynman diagrams. The Hilbert space for the quantum harmonic oscillator arises naturally from degroupoidifying the groupoid of finite sets and bijections. This allows for a purely combinatorial interpretat…
Tensor hierarchy algebras constitute a class of non-contragredient Lie superalgebras, whose finite-dimensional members are the "Cartan-type" Lie superalgebras in Kac's classification. They have applications in mathematical physics, especially in extended geometry and gauged supergravity. We further develop the recently proposed definition of tensor hierarchy algebras in terms of generators and relations encoded in a Dynkin diagram (which coincides with the diagram for a related Borcherds superalgebra). We apply it to cases where a grey node is added to the Dynkin diagram of a rank $r+1$ Kac-Mo…
The idea that a Dynkin diagram can provide one of the `spatial' variables for an integrable difference-difference system is no news. I propose a `model' where the only variable is of this sort.
This paper develops the theory of KLR algebras with a Dynkin diagram automorphism. This is foundational material intended to allow folding techniques in the theory of KLR algebras.
Representation theory, for the classical binary polyhedral groups is encoded by the affine Dynkin diagrams E6^{(1)}, E7^{(1)} and E8^{(1)} (McKay correspondance). The quantum versions of these classical geometries are associated with representation theories described by the usual Dynkin diagrams E6, E7 and E8. The purpose of these notes is to compare several chosen aspects of the classical and quantum geometries by using the study of spaces of paths and spaces of essential paths (Ocneanu theory) on these diagrams. To keep the size of this contribution small enough, most of our discussion will …

This is a set of notes describing several aspects of the space of paths on ADE Dynkin diagrams, with a particular attention paid to the graph E6. Many results originally due to A. Ocneanu are here described in a very elementary way (manipulation of square or rectangular matrices). We recall the concept of essential matrices (intertwiners) for a graph and describe their module properties with respect to right and left actions of fusion algebras. In the case of the graph E6, essential matrices build up a right module with respect to its own fusion algebra but a left module with respect to the fu…
Let $G$ be a finite subgroup in SU(2), and $Q$ the corresponding affine Dynkin diagram. In this paper, we review the relation between the categories of $G$-equivariant sheaves on $P^1$ and $Rep Q_h$, where $h$ is an orientation of $Q$, constructing an explicit equivalence of corresponding derived categories.
