Given a zero-one matrix A we consider certain one-parameter groups of automorphisms of the Cuntz-Krieger algebra O_A, generalizing the usual gauge group, and depending on a positive continuous function H defined on the Markov space Σ_A. The main result consists of an application of Ruelle's Perron-Frobenius Theorem to show that these automorphism groups admit a single KMS state.

We study KMS states for gauge actions with potential functions on Cuntz--Krieger algebras whose underlying one-sided topological Markov shifts are continuous orbit equivalent. As a result, we have a certain relationship between topological entropy of continuous orbit equivalent one-sided topological Markov shifts.
In this paper, we study a family of $C^*$-subalgebras defined by fixed points of generalized gauge actions of a Cuntz-Krieger algebra, by introducing a family of étale groupoids whose associated $C^*$-algebras are these $C^*$-subalgebras. We know that topological conjugacy classes of one-sided topological Markov shifts are characterized in terms of the isomorphism classes of these étale groupoids.

We construct a covariant functor from the topological torus bundles to the so-called Cuntz-Krieger algebras; the functor maps homeomorphic bundles into the stably isomorphic Cuntz-Krieger algebras. It is shown, that the K-theory of the Cuntz-Krieger algebra encodes torsion of the first homology group of the bundle. We illustrate the result by examples.
In this article, we present a new method to study relative Cuntz-Krieger algebras for higher-rank graphs. We only work with edges rather than paths of arbitrary degrees. We then use this method to simplify the existing results about relative Cuntz-Krieger algebras. We also give applications to study ideals and quotients of Toeplitz algebras.

We augment Restorff's classification of purely infinite Cuntz-Krieger algebras by describing the range of his invariant on purely infinite Cuntz-Krieger algebras. We also describe its range on purely infinite graph C*-algebras with finitely many ideals, and provide 'unital' range results for purely infinite Cuntz-Krieger algebras and unital purely infinite graph C*-algebras.
In this paper we extend work of Kawamura, see kawamura, for Cuntz-Krieger algebras O_A for infinite matrices A. We generalize the definition of branching systems, prove their existence for any given matrix A and show how they induce some very concrete representations of O_A. We use these representations to describe the Perron-Frobenius operator, associated to an nonsingular transformation, as an infinite sum and under some hypothesis we find a matrix representation for the operator. We finish the paper with a few examples.

We completely classify type III factor representations of Cuntz-Krieger algebras associated with quasi-free states up to unitary equivalence. Furthermore, we realize these representations on concrete Hilbert spaces without using GNS construction. Free groups and their type ${\rm II}_{1}$ factor representations are used in these realizations.
We introduced a non-symmetric tensor product of any two states or any two representations of Cuntz-Krieger algebras associated with a certain non-cocommutative comultiplication in previous our work. In this paper, we show that a certain set of KMS states is closed with respect to the tensor product. From this, we obtain formulae of tensor product of type {\rm III} factor representations of Cuntz-Krieger algebras which is different from results of the tensor product of factors of type {\rm III}.
We catalogue the primitive ideals of the Cuntz-Krieger algebra of a row-finite higher-rank graph with no sources. Each maximal tail in the vertex set has an abelian periodicity group of finite rank at most that of the graph; the primitive ideals in the Cuntz-Krieger algebra are indexed by pairs consisting of a maximal tail and a character of its periodicity group. The Cuntz-Krieger algebra is primitive if and only if the whole vertex set is a maximal tail and the graph is aperiodic.
We will prove that one-sided topological Markov shifts $(X_A,σ_A)$ and $(X_B,σ_B)$ for matrices $A$ and $B$ with entries in $\{0,1\}$ are topologically orbit equivalent if and only if there exists an isomorphism between the Cuntz-Krieger algebras ${\Cal O}_A$ and ${\Cal O}_B$ keeping their commutative $C^*$-subalgerbas $C(X_A)$ and $C(X_B)$. It is also equivalent to the condition that there exists a homeomorphism from $X_A$ to $X_B$ intertwining their topological full groups. We will also study structure of the automorphisms of ${\Cal O}_A$ keeping the commutative $C^*$-algebra $C(X_A)$.
The note presents a further study of the class of Cuntz--Krieger type algebras. A necessary and sufficient condition is identified that ensures that the algebra is purely infinite, the ideal structure is studied, % and applied to semigraph algebras, and nuclearity is proved by presenting the algebra as a crossed product of an AF-algebra by an abelian group. The results are applied to examples of Cuntz--Krieger type algebras, such as higher rank semigraph $C^*$-algebras and higher rank Exel-Laca algebras.
We study a new class of representations of the Cuntz-Krieger algebras $\mathcal O_A$ constructed by semibranching function systems, naturally related to stationary Bratteli diagrams. The notion of isomorphic semibranching function systems is defined and studied. We show that any isomorphism of such systems implies the equivalence of the corresponding representations of Cuntz-Krieger algebra $\mathcal O_A$. Given a group cocycle on a finitely aligned left cancellative small category (LCSC) we investigate the associated skew product category and its Cuntz-Krieger algebra, which we describe as the crossed product of the Cuntz-Krieger algebra of the original category by an induced coaction of the group. We use our results to study Cuntz-Krieger algebras arising from free actions of groups on finitely aligned LCSC's, and to construct coactions of groups on Exel-Pardo algebras. Finally we discuss the universal group of a small category and connectedness of skew product categories.
In 2006, Restorff completed the classification of all Cuntz-Krieger algebras with finitely many ideals (i.e., those that are purely infinite) up to stable isomorphism. He left open the questions concerning strong classification up to stable isomorphism and unital classification. In this paper, we address both questions. We show that any isomorphism between the reduced filtered K-theory of two Cuntz-Krieger algebras with finitely many ideals lifts to a *-isomorphism between the stabilized Cuntz-Krieger algebras. As a result, we also obtain strong unital classification.
For a row-finite higher-rank graph Λ, we construct a higher-rank graph TΛ such that the Toeplitz algebra of Λ is isomorphic to the Cuntz-Krieger algebra of TΛ. We then prove that the higher-rank graph TΛ is always aperiodic and use this fact to give another proof of a uniqueness theorem for the Toeplitz algebras of higher-rank graphs.
We study relations between $(H,β)$--KMS states on Cuntz--Krieger algebras and the dual of the Perron--Frobenius operator $\mathcal{L}_{-βH}^{*}$. Generalising the well--studied purely hyperbolic situation, we obtain under mild conditions that for an expansive dynamical system there is a one--one correspondence between $(H,β)$--KMS states and eigenmeasures of $\mathcal{L}_{-βH}^{*}$ for the eigenvalue 1. To each finitely aligned higher-rank graph $Λ$ and each $\mathbb{T}$-valued 2-cocycle on $Λ$, we associate a family of twisted relative Cuntz-Krieger algebras. We show that each of these algebras carries a gauge action, and prove a gauge-invariant uniqueness theorem. We describe an isomorphism between the fixed point algebras for the gauge actions on the twisted and untwisted relative Cuntz-Krieger algebras. Let A,B be square irreducible matrices with entries in {0,1}. We will show that if the one-sided topological Markov shifts (X_A,σ_A) and (X_B,σ_B) are continuously orbit equivalent, then the two-sided topological Markov shifts (\bar X_A,\barσ_A) and (\bar X_B,\barσ_B) are flow equivalent, and hence det(id-A)=det(id-B). As a result, the one-sided topological Markov shifts (X_A,σ_A) and (X_B,σ_B) are continuously orbit equivalent if and only if the Cuntz-Krieger algebras O_A and O_B are isomorphic and det(id-A)=det(id-B).
We study Sims-Yeend's product system C*-algebras and topological higher-rank graph C*-algebras by Yeend. We give a relation between Katsura's Cuntz-Pimsner covariance and Sims-Yeend's one by a direct approach and an explicit form of the core of product system C*-algebras. Finally, we prove Cuntz-Krieger type uniqueness theorem for topological higher-rank graph C*-algebras under certain aperiodic condition.
Motivated by the theory of Cuntz-Krieger algebras we define and study $ C^\ast $-algebras associated to directed quantum graphs. For classical graphs the $ C^\ast $-algebras obtained this way can be viewed as free analogues of Cuntz-Krieger algebras, and need not be nuclear. We study two particular classes of quantum graphs in detail, namely the trivial and the complete quantum graphs. We generalize permutative representations of the Cuntz algebras for the \cka\ $\coa$ for any $A$. We characterize cyclic permutative representations by notions of cycle and chain, and show their existence and uniqueness. We show necessary and sufficient conditions for their irreducibility and equivalence. In consequence, we have a complete classification of permutative representations of $\coa$. Furthermore we show decomposition formulae and that the uniqueness of irreducible decomposition holds for permutative representation.
We first observe that the relations of the canonical generating isometries of the Cuntz algebra ${\cal O}_N$ are naturally related to the $N$-colored Catalan numbers. For a directed graph $G$, we generalize the Catalan numbers by using the canonical generating partial isometries of the Cuntz-Krieger algebra ${\cal O}_{A^G}$ for the transition matrix $A^G$ of $G$. The generalized Catalan numbers $c_n^G, n=0,1,2,...$ enumerate the number of Dyck paths and oriented rooted trees for the graph $G$. Its generating functions will be studied.
We give a construction of a nuclear $C^\ast$-algebra associated with an amalgamated free product of groups, generalizing Spielberg's construction of a certain Cuntz-Krieger algebra associated with a finitely generated free product of cyclic groups. Our nuclear $C^\ast$-algebras can be identified with certain Cuntz-Krieger-Pimsner algebras. We will also show that our algebras can be obtained by the crossed product construction of the canonical actions on the hyperbolic boundaries, which proves a special case of Adams' result about amenability of the boundary action for hyperbolic groups. To an $r$-dimensional subshift of finite type satisfying certain special properties we associate a $C^*$-algebra $\cA$. This algebra is a higher rank version of a Cuntz-Krieger algebra. In particular, it is simple, purely infinite and nuclear. We study an example: if $\G$ is a group acting freely on the vertices of an $\wt A_2$ building, with finitely many orbits, and if $Ω$ is the boundary of that building, then $C(\Om)\rtimes \G$ is the algebra associated to a certain two dimensional subshift.
We apply Arveson's non-commutative boundary theory to dilate every Toeplitz-Cuntz-Krieger family of a directed graph $G$ to a full Cuntz-Krieger family for $G$. We do this by describing all representations of the Toeplitz algebra $\mathcal{T}(G)$ that have unique extension when restricted to the tensor algebra $\mathcal{T}_+(G)$. This yields an alternative proof to a result of Katsoulis and Kribs that the $C^*$-envelope of $\mathcal T_+(G)$ is the Cuntz-Krieger algebra $\mathcal O(G)$. It is shown that a C*-algebra generated by any faithful covariant representation of a Hilbert bimodule X is canonically isomorphic to the crossed product associated to X provided that Rieffel's induced representation functor X-ind is topologically free. It is discussed how this result could be applied to universal C*-algebras generated by relations with a circle gauge action. This paper is a contribution to the theory of what might be termed $0$-dimensional non-commutative spaces. We prove that associated with each inverse semigroup $S$ is a Boolean inverse semigroup presented by the abstract versions of the Cuntz-Krieger relations. We call this Boolean inverse semigroup the Exel completion of $S$ and show that it arises from Exel's tight groupoid under non-commutative Stone duality.
We show that an outer action of a finite abelian group on a simple Cuntz-Krieger algebra is strongly approximately inner in the sense of Izumi if the action is given by diagonal quasi-free automorphisms and the associated matrix is aperiodic. This is achieved by an approximate cohomology vanishing-type argument for the canonical shift restricted to the relative commutant of the set of domain projections of the canonical generating isometries in the fixed point algebra.

We introduce a comultiplication $Δ_ϕ$ and a counit $ε$ on ${\sf CK}_{*}$ such that $Δ_ϕ$ is a nondegenerate $*$-homomorphism from ${\sf CK}_{*}$ to ${\sf CK}_{*}\otimes {\sf CK}_{*}$ and $ε$ is a $*$-homomorphism from ${\sf CK}_{*}$ to ${\bf C}$. From this, ${\sf CK}_{*}$ is a counital non-commutative non-cocommutative C$^{*}$-bialgebra. We show that filtered K-theory is equivalent to a substantially smaller invariant for all real-rank-zero C*-algebras with certain primitive ideal spaces -- including the infinitely many so-called accordion spaces for which filtered K-theory is known to be a complete invariant. As a consequence, we give a characterization of purely infinite Cuntz-Krieger algebras whose primitive ideal space is an accordion space.

We consider the higher-rank graphs introduced by Kumjian and Pask as models for higher-rank Cuntz-Krieger algebras. We describe a variant of the Cuntz-Krieger relations which applies to graphs with sources, and describe a local convexity condition which characterises the higher-rank graphs that admit a nontrivial Cuntz-Krieger family. We then prove versions of the uniqueness theorems and classifications of ideals for the C*-algebras generated by Cuntz-Krieger families.
