A class of desingularizations for orbit closures of representations of Dynkin quivers is constructed, which can be viewed as a graded analogue of the Springer resolution. A stratification of the singular fibres is introduced; its geometry and combinatorics are studied. Via the Hall algebra approach, these constructions relate to bases of quantized enveloping algebras. Using Ginzburg's theory of convolution algebras, the base change coefficients of Lusztig's canonical basis are expressed as decomposition numbers of certain convolution algebras.
Inspired by recent work of Cerulli-Feigin-Reineke on desingularizations of quiver Grassmannians of representations of Dynkin quivers, we obtain desingularizations in considerably more general situations and in particular for Grassmannians of modules over iterated tilted algebras of Dynkin type. Our desingularization map is constructed from Nakajima's desingularization map for graded quiver varieties.
A desingularization of arbitrary quiver Grassmannians for representations of Dynkin quivers is constructed in terms of quiver Grassmannians for an algebra derived equivalent to the Auslander algebra of the quiver.
We construct small desingularizations of moduli spaces of semistable quiver representations for indivisible dimension vectors using deformations of stabilites and a dimension estimate for nullcones. We apply this construction to several classes of GIT quotients.
We describe noncommutative desingularizations of determinantal varieties, determinantal varieties defined by minors of generic symmetric matrices, and pfaffian varieties defined by pfaffians of generic anti-symmetric matrices. For maximal minors of square matrices and symmetric matrices, this gives a non-commutative crepant resolution. Along the way, we describe a method to calculate the quiver with relations for any non-commutative desingularizations coming from exceptional collections over partial flag varieties.
In a previous paper the authors have attached to each Dynkin quiver an associative algebra. The definition is categorical and the algebra is used to construct desingularizations of arbitrary quiver Grassmannians. In the present paper we prove that this algebra is isomorphic to an algebra constructed by Hernandez-Leclerc defined combinatorially and used to describe certain graded Nakajima quiver varieties. This approach is used to get an explicit realization of the orbit closures of representations of Dynkin quivers as affine quotients.
In this paper, we shall discuss Hilbert property of ${\rm Hilb}^{G}(\mathbb{C}^{3})$, Fujiki-Oka resolutions and iterated Fujiki-Oka resolutions for three dimensional canonical cyclic quotient singularities by using the classification shown by Ishida and Iwashita\cite{II}. Finally, we shall prove that there exists a Hilbert desingularization for any three dimensional canonical cyclic quotient singularity.
We investigate the properties of coordinate rings of orbit closures for quivers of type $A_3$ by considering the desingularization given by Reineke. We construct explicit minimal free resolutions of the defining ideals of the orbit closures thus giving us a minimal set of generators for the defining ideal. The resolution allows us to read off some geometric properties of the orbit closure. In addition, we give a characterization for the orbit closure to be Gorenstein.
In characteristic zero, we construct relative principalization of ideals for logarithmically regular morphisms of logarithmic schemes, and use it to construct logarithmically regular desingularization of morphisms. These constructions are relatively canonical and even functorial with respect to logarithmically regular morphisms and arbitrary base changes. Relative canonicity means, that the principalization requires a fine enough non-canonical modification of the base, and once it is chosen the process is canonical. As a consequence we deduce the semistable reduction theorem over arbitrary val…
Let $X$ be any variety in characteristic zero. Let $V \subset X$ be an open subset that has toroidal singularities. We show the existence of a canonical desingularization of $X$ except for V. It is a morphism $f: Y \to X$ , which does not modify the subset $ V $ and transforms $X$ into a toroidal embedding $Y$, with singularities extending those on $V$. Moreover, the exceptional divisor has simple normal crossings on $Y$. The theorem naturally generalizes the Hironaka canonical desingularization. It does not modify the nonsingular locus $V$ and transforms $X$ into a nonsingular variety $Y$. Th…
In this article we study a conjecture of Geiss-Leclerc-Schr{ö}er, which is an analogue of a classical conjecture of Lusztig in the Weyl group case. It concerns the relation between canonical basis and semi-canonical basis through the characteristic cycles. We formulate an approach to this conjecture and prove it for type $A_2$ quiver. In general type A case, we reduce the conjecture to show that certain nearby cycles have vanishing Euler characteristic.
This article contains an elementary constructive proof of resolution of singularities in characteristic zero. Our proof applies in particular to schemes of finite type and to analytic spaces (so we recover the great theorems of Hironaka). We introduce a discrete local invariant $\inv_X (a)$ whose maximum locus determines a smooth centre of blowing up, leading to desingularization. To define $\inv_X$, we need only to work with a category of local-ringed spaces $X=(|X|,{\cal O}_X)$ satisfying certain natural conditions. If $a\in |X|$, then $\inv_X(a)$ depends only on $\widehat{\cal O}_{X,a}$. Mo…
For an acyclic quiver, we establish a connection between the cohomology of quiver Grassmannians and the dual canonical bases of the algebra $U_q^-(\mathfrak{g})$, where $U_q^-(\mathfrak{g})$ is the negative half of the quantized enveloping algebra associated with the quiver. In order to achieve this goal, we study the cohomology of quiver Grassmannians by Lusztig's category. As a consequence, we describe explicitly the Poincaré polynomials of rigid quiver Grassmannians in terms of the coefficients of dual canonical bases, which are viewed as elements of quantum shuffle algebras. By this result…
In this paper, the singular Ringel-Hall algebra for a tame quiver is introduced and shown to be isomorphic to the positive part of the quantum extended Kac-Moody algebra. A PBW basis is constructed and a new class of perverse sheaves is shown to have purity property. This allows to construct the canonical bases of the positive part of the quantum extended Kac-Moody algebra. As an application, the existence of Hall polynomials for tame quiver algebras is proved.
With the help of Lusztig's canonical basis, we study local intersection cohomology of the Zariski closures of orbits of representations of a quiver of type A, D or E. In particular, we characterize the rationally smooth orbits and prove that orbit closures are smooth if and only if they are rationally smooth. This provides an analogue of theorems of V. Deodhar, and J. Carrell and D. Peterson on Schubert varieties.
We present a complete generalization of Kirwan's partial desingularization theorem on quotients of smooth varieties. Precisely, we prove that if $\mathcal{X}$ is an irreducible Artin stack with stable good moduli space $\mathcal{X} \to X$, then there is a canonical sequence of birational morphisms of Artin stacks $\mathcal{X}_n \to \mathcal{X}_{n-1} \to \ldots \to \mathcal{X}_0 = \mathcal{X}$ with the following properties: (1) the maximum dimension of a stabilizer of a point of $\mathcal{X}_{k+1}$ is strictly smaller than the maximum dimension of a stabilizer of $\mathcal{X}_k$ and the final s…
Let $Q$ be a quiver, $M$ a representation of $Q$ with an ordered basis $\cB$ and $\ue$ a dimension vector for $Q$. In this note we extend the methods of \cite{L12} to establish Schubert decompositions of quiver Grassmannians $\Gr_\ue(M)$ into affine spaces to the ramified case, i.e.\ the canonical morphism $F:T\to Q$ from the coefficient quiver $T$ of $M$ w.r.t.\ $\cB$ is not necessarily unramified. In particular, we determine the Euler characteristic of $\Gr_\ue(M)$ as the number of \emph{extremal successor closed subsets of $T_0$}, which extends the results of Cerulli Irelli (\cite{Cerulli11…
Sklyanin's formula provides a set of canonical spectral coordinates on the standard Calogero-Moser space associated with the quiver consisting of a vertex and a loop. We generalize this result to Calogero-Moser spaces attached to cyclic quivers by constructing rational functions that relate spectral coordinates to conjugate variables. These canonical coordinates turn out to be well-defined on the corresponding simple singularity of type $A$, and the rational functions we construct define interpolating polynomials between them.
The $\imath$quiver algebras were introduced recently by the authors to provide a Hall algebra realization of universal $\imath$quantum groups, which is a generalization of Bridgeland's Hall algebra construction for (Drinfeld doubles of) quantum groups; here an $\imath$quantum group and a corresponding Drinfeld-Jimbo quantum group form a quantum symmetric pair. In this paper, the Dynkin $\imath$quiver algebras are shown to arise as new examples of singular Nakajima-Keller-Scherotzke categories. Then we provide a geometric construction of the universal $\imath$quantum groups and their ``dual can…
We study Laurent expansions of cluster variables in a cluster algebra of rank 2 associated to a generalized Kronecker quiver. In the case of the ordinary Kronecker quiver, we obtain explicit expressions for Laurent expansions of the elements of the canonical basis for the corresponding cluster algebra.
We describe weighted projective lines in the sense of Geigle and Lenzing by a moduli problem on the canonical algebra of Ringel. We then go on to study generators of the derived categories of coherent sheaves on the total spaces of their canonical bundles, and show that they are rarely tilting. We also give a moduli construction for these total spaces for weighted projective lines with three orbifold points.
For an acyclic quiver with three vertices, we consider the canonical decomposition of a non-Schurian root and associate certain representations of a generalized Kronecker quiver. These representations correspond to points contained in the intersection of two subvarieties of a Grassmannian and give rise to representations of the original quiver, preserving indecomposability. We show that these subvarieties intersect using Schubert calculus. Provided that the intersection contains a Schurian representation, it already contains an open subset of Schurian representations whose dimension is what we…
Given a quiver, we consider its cohomological Hall algebra (CoHA) as well as CoHA modules built of cohomology groups of non-commutative Hilbert schemes. We investigate cell decompositions of non-commutative Hilbert schemes and the corresponding (non-canonical) bases of CoHA modules. We construct canonical bases of CoHA modules, which consist of products of Chern classes of tautological vector bundles over non-commutative Hilbert schemes. This result generalizes classical results for Grassmannians and (partial) flag varieties.
This paper uses reconstruction algebras to construct simultaneous resolution of determinantal surfaces. The main new difference to the classical case is that, in addition to the quiver of the reconstruction algebra, certain noncommutative relations, namely those of the canonical algebra of Ringel, are required. All the relations of the reconstruction algebra except the canonical relation are then deformed, and these deformed relations together with variation of the GIT quotient achieve the simultaneous resolution.
We prove that quantized multiplicative quiver varieties and quantum character varieties define sheaves of Azumaya algebras over the corresponding classical moduli spaces, and we prove that the Azumaya locus of the Kauffman bracket skein algebras contains the smooth locus, proving a strong form of the Unicity Conjecture of Bonahon and Wong. The proofs exploit a strong compatibility between quantum Hamiltonian reduction and the quantum Frobenius homomorphism as it arises in each setting. We therefore introduce the concepts of Frobenius quantum moment maps and their Hamiltonian reduction, and of …
We introduce a class of new algebras, the shifted quiver Yangians, as the BPS algebras for type IIA string theory on general toric Calabi-Yau three-folds. We construct representations of the shifted quiver Yangian from general subcrystals of the canonical crystal. We derive our results via equivariant localization for supersymmetric quiver quantum mechanics for various framed quivers, where the framings are determined by the shape of the subcrystals. Our results unify many known BPS state counting problems, including open BPS counting, non-compact D4-branes, and wall crossing phenomena, simply…
Pursuing the similarity between the Kontsevich--Soibelman construction of the cohomological Hall algebra of BPS states and Lusztig's construction of canonical bases for quantum enveloping algebras, and the similarity between the inetgrality conjecture for motivic Donaldson--Thomas invariants and the PBW theorem for quantum enveloping algebras, we build a coproduct on the cohomological Hall algebra associated to a quiver with potential. We also prove a cohomological dimensional reduction theorem, further linking a special class of cohomological Hall algebras with Yangians, and explaining how to…
We develop a theory of general sheaves over weighted projective lines. We define and study a canonical decomposition, analogous to Kac's canonical decomposition for representations of quivers, study subsheaves of a general sheaf, general ranks of morphisms, and prove analogues of Schofield's results on general representations of quivers. Using these, we give a recursive algorithm for computing properties of general sheaves. Many of our results are proved in a more abstract setting, involving a hereditary abelian category.
In this paper, we study the log-likelihood function and Maximum Likelihood Estimate (MLE) for the matrix normal model for both real and complex models. We describe the exact number of samples needed to achieve (almost surely) three conditions, namely a bounded log-likelihood function, existence of MLEs, and uniqueness of MLEs. As a consequence, we observe that almost sure boundedness of log-likelihood function guarantees almost sure existence of an MLE, thereby proving a conjecture of Drton, Kuriki and Hoff. The main tools we use are from the theory of quiver representations, in particular, re…
Using the tensor product variety introduced by Malkin and Nakajima, the complete structure of the tensor product of a finite number of integrable highest weight modules of U_q(sl_2) is recovered. In particular, the elementary basis, Lusztig's canonical basis, and the basis adapted to the decomposition of the tensor product into simple modules are all exhibited as distiguished elements of certain spaces of invariant functions on the tensor product variety. For the latter two bases, these distinguished elements are closely related to the irreducible components of the tensor product variety. The …
In this paper, we give a method for relating the generalized category $\mathcal{O}$ defined by the author and collaborators to explicit finitely presented algebras, and apply this to quiver varieties. This allows us to describe combinatorially not just the structure of these category $\mathcal{O}$'s but also how certain interesting families of derived equivalences, the shuffling and twisting functors, act on them. In the case of Nakajima quiver varieties, the algebras that appear are weighted KLR algebras and their steadied quotients, defined by the author in earlier work. In particular, these…
Attached to a weight space in an integrable highest weight representation of a simply-laced Kac-Moody algebra $\mathfrak{g}$, there are two natural commutative algebras: the cohomology ring of a quiver variety and the center of a cyclotomic KLR algebra. In this note, we describe a natural geometric map between these algebras in terms of quantum coherent sheaves on quiver varieties. The cohomology ring of an algebraic symplectic variety can be interpreted as the Hochschild cohomology of a quantization of this variety in the sense of Bezrukavnikov and Kaledin. On the other hand, cyclotomic KLR a…
Methods of Harder and Narasimhan from the theory of moduli of vector bundles are applied to moduli of quiver representations. Using the Hall algebra approach to quantum groups, an analog of the Harder-Narasimhan recursion is constructed inside the quantized enveloping algebra of a Kac-Moody algebra. This leads to a canonical orthogonal system, the HN system, in this algebra. Using a resolution of the recursion, an explicit formula for the HN system is given. As an application, explicit formulas for Betti numbers of the cohomology of quiver moduli are derived, generalizing several results on th…
We study the principal parts bundles $P^k (L)$ of the degree $d$ line bundle $L$ on the $n$ dimensional projective space as homogeneous bundles and we describe their associated quiver representations. We use this approach to show that if $n$ is greater or equal that 2, and $0\leq d<k$, then there exists an invariant splitting $P^k(L)=Q\oplus (S^dV\otimes \OO_{\PP^n})$ with $Q$ a stable homogeneous vector bundle. The splitting properties of such bundles were previously known only for n=1 or $k\leq d$ or $d<0$. Moreover we show that for any $d$ and any $h<k$ the canonical map from $P^k(L)$ to $P…
Let Q be a finite quiver without oriented cycles. Denote by U --> M the fine moduli space of stable thin sincere representations of Q with respect to the canonical stability notion. We prove Ext^i(U,U) = 0 for all i >0 and compute the endomorphism algebra of the universal bundle U. Moreover, we obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for when this algebra is isomorphic to the path algebra kQ of the quiver Q. If so, then the bounded derived category of finitely generated right kQ-modules is embedded into that of coherent sheaves on M.
Ordinarily, quiver varieties are constructed as moduli spaces of quiver representations in the category of vector spaces. It is also natural to consider quiver representations in a richer category, namely that of vector bundles on some complex variety equipped with a fixed sheaf that twists the morphisms. Representations of A-type quivers in this twisted category --- known in the literature as "holomorphic chains" --- have practical use in questions concerning the topology of the moduli space of Higgs bundles. In that problem, the variety is a Riemann surface of genus at least 2, and the twist…
Given a quiver $Q$, a formal potential is called analytic if its coefficients are bounded by the terms of a geometric series. As shown by Toda, the potentials appearing in the deformation theory of complexes of coherent sheaves on complex projective Calabi-Yau threefolds are analytic. Our paper consists of two parts. In the first part, we establish the foundations of the differential calculus of quivers with analytic potentials and prove two fundamental results: the inverse function theorem and Moser's trick. As an application, we prove finite determinacy of analytic potentials with finite-dim…
We study the representation theory of Dynkin quivers of type A in abstract stable homotopy theories, including those associated to fields, rings, schemes, differential-graded algebras, and ring spectra. Reflection functors, (partial) Coxeter functors, and Serre functors are defined in this generality and these equivalences are shown to be induced by universal tilting modules, certain explicitly constructed spectral bimodules. In fact, these universal tilting modules are spectral refinements of classical tilting complexes. As a consequence we obtain split epimorphisms from the spectral Picard g…
In this note, we show that the canonical orientation data on the quiver hearts are compatible under the autoequivalence $\_\otimesπ^*O(1)$, and hence glue to give an orientation data for the stack of coherent sheaves on local P2.
