With the known group relations for the elements $(a,b,c,d)$ of a quantum matrix $T$ as input a general solution of the $RTT$ relations is sought without imposing the Yang - Baxter constraint for $R$ or the braid equation for $\hat{R} = PR$. For three biparametric deformatios, $GL_{(p,q)}(2), GL_{(g,h)}(2)$ and $GL_{(q,h)}(1/1)$, the standard, the nonstandard and the hybrid one respectively, $R$ or $\hat{R}$ is found to depend, apart from the two parameters defining the deformation in question, on an extra free parameter $K$,such that only for two values of $K$, given explicitly for each case, one has the braid equation. Arbitray $K$ corresponds to a class (conserving the group relations independent of $K$) of the MQYBE or modified quantum YB equations studied by Gerstenhaber, Giaquinto and Schak. Various properties of the triparametric $\hat{R}(K;p,q)$, $\hat{R}(K;g,h)$ and $\hat{R}(K;q,h)$ are studied. In the larger space of the modified braid equation (MBE) even $\hat{R}(K;p,q)$ can satisfy $\hat{R}^2 = 1$ outside braid equation (BE) subspace. A generalized, $K$- dependent, Hecke condition is satisfied by each 3-parameter $\hat{R}$. The role of $K$ in noncommutative geometries of the $(K;p,q)$,$(K;g,h)$ and $(K;q,h)$ deformed planes is studied. K is found to introduce a "soft symmetry breaking", preserving most interesting properties and leading to new interesting ones. Further aspects to be explored are indicated.
Modified braid equations satisfied by generalized ${\hat R}$ matrices (for a {\em given} set of group relations obeyed by the elements of ${\sf T}$ matrices ) are constructed for q-deformed quantum groups $GL_q (N), SO_q (N)$ and $Sp_q (N)$ with arbitrary values of $N$. The Baxterization of ${\hat R}$ matrices, treated as an aspect complementary to the {\em modification} of the braid equation, is obtained for all these cases in particularly elegant forms. A new class of braid matrices is discovered for the quantum groups $SO_{q}(N)$ and $Sp_{q}(N)$. The ${\hat R}$ matrices of this class, while…
We construct the join of noncommutative Galois objects (quantum torsors) over a Hopf algebra H. To ensure that the join algebra enjoys the natural (diagonal) coaction of H, we braid the tensor product of the Galois objects. Then we show that this coaction is principal. Our examples are built from the noncommutative torus with the natural free action of the classical torus, and arbitrary anti-Drinfeld doubles of finite-dimensional Hopf algebras. The former yields a noncommutative deformation of a non-trivial torus bundle, and the latter a finite quantum covering.
We discuss the recent proposal of arXiv:1608.05351 about generalization of the RTT relation to network matrix models. We show that the RTT relation in these models is modified by a nontrivial, but essentially abelian anomaly cocycle, which we explicitly evaluate for the free field representations of the quantum toroidal algebra. This cocycle is responsible for the braiding, which permutes the external legs in the q-deformed conformal block and its 5d/6d gauge theory counterpart, i.e. the non-perturbative Nekrasov functions. Thus, it defines their modular properties and symmetry. We show how to…
General solutions of the $\hat{R}TT$ equation with a maximal number of free parameters in the specrtal decomposition of vector $SO_q (3)$ $\hat{R}$ matrices are implemented to construct modified braid equations (MBE). These matrices conserve the given, standard, group relations of the nine elements of T, but are not constrained to satisfy the standard braid equation (BE). Apart from q and a normalisation factor our $\hat{R}$ contains two free parameters, instead of only one such parameter for deformed unitary algebras studied in a previous paper [1] where the nonzero right hand side of the $MB…
Various properties of a class of braid matrices, presented before, are studied considering $N^2 \times N^2 (N=3,4,...)$ vector representations for two subclasses. For $q=1$ the matrices are nontrivial. Triangularity $(\hat R^2 =I)$ corresponds to polynomial equations for $q$, the solutions ranging from roots of unity to hyperelliptic functions. The algebras of $L-$ operators are studied. As a crucial feature one obtains $2N$ central, group-like, homogenous quadratic functions of $L_{ij}$ constrained to equality among themselves by the $RLL$ equations. They are studied in detail for $N =3$ and …
We discuss the obstruction to the construction of a multiparticle field theory on a $κ$-Minkowski noncommutative spacetime: the existence of multilocal functions which respect the deformed symmetries of the problem. This construction is only possible for a light-like version of the commutation relations, if one requires invariance of the tensor product algebra under the coaction of the $κ$-Poincaré group. This necessitates a braided tensor product. We study the representations of this product, and prove that $κ$-Poincaré-invariant N-point functions belong to an Abelian subalgebra, and are ther…
Quantum principal bundles or principal comodule algebras are re-interpreted as principal bundles within a framework of Synthetic Noncommutative Differential Geometry. More specifically, the notion of a noncommutative principal bundle within a braided monoidal category is introduced and it is shown that a noncommutative principal bundle in the category opposite to the category of vector spaces is the same as a faithfully flat Hopf-Galois extension.
The aim of the paper is twofold. First, we introduce analogs of (partial) derivatives on certain Noncommutative algebras, including some enveloping algebras and their "braided counterparts", namely, the so-called modified Reflection Equation algebras. By using these derivatives we construct an analog of the de Rham complex on these algebras. Second, we discuss deformation property of some quantum algebras and show that contrary to a commonly held view, in the so-called q-Witt algebra there is no analog of the PBW theorem. In this connection, we discuss different forms of the Jacobi condition r…
The first steps towards linearisation of partial orders and equivalence relations are described. The definitions of partial orders and equivalence relations (on sets) are formulated in a way that is standard in category theory and that makes the linearisation (almost) automatic. The linearisation is then achieved by replacing sets by coalgebras and the Cartesian product by the tensor product of vector spaces. As a result, definitions of orders and equivalence relations on coalgebras are proposed. These are illustrated by explicit examples that include relations on colagebras spanned by groupli…
We develop a sheaf theory approach to toric noncommutative geometry which allows us to formalize the concept of mapping spaces between two toric noncommutative spaces. As an application we study the `internalized' automorphism group of a toric noncommutative space and show that its Lie algebra has an elementary description in terms of braided derivations.
Using the theory of noncommutative geometry in a braided monoidal category, we improve upon a previous construction of noncommutative families of instantons of arbitrary charge on the deformed sphere S^4_θ. We formulate a notion of noncommutative parameter spaces for families of instantons and we explore what it means for such families to be gauge equivalent, as well as showing how to remove gauge parameters using a noncommutative quotient construction. Although the parameter spaces are a priori noncommutative, we show that one may always recover a classical parameter space by making an approp…
We develop the formalism for noncommutative differential geometry and Riemmannian geometry to take full account of the *-algebra structure on the (possibly noncommutative) coordinate ring and the bimodule structure on the differential forms. We show that *-compatible bimodule connections lead to braid operators $σ$ in some generality (going beyond the quantum group case) and we develop their role in the exterior algebra. We study metrics in the form of Hermitian structures on Hilbert *-modules and metric compatibility in both the usual and a cotorsion form. We show that the theory works well f…
We study de Rham cohomology for various differential calculi on finite groups G up to order 8. These include the permutation group S_3, the dihedral group D_4 and the quaternion group Q. Poincare' duality holds in every case, and under some assumptions (essentially the existence of a top form) we find that it must hold in general. A short review of the bicovariant (noncommutative) differential calculus on finite G is given for selfconsistency. Exterior derivative, exterior product, metric, Hodge dual, connections, torsion, curvature, and biinvariant integration can be defined algebraically. A …
Generalization of the quantum Yang-Baxter equation solutions to an arbitrary grading is studied. The noncommutative differential calculi corresponding to such solutions is considered. The connection with the ordinary and supersymmetric solutions of the quantum Yang-Baxter equation is given.
We study noncommutative differential structures on the group of permutations $S_N$, defined by conjugacy classes. The 2-cycles class defines an exterior algebra $Λ_N$ which is a super analogue of the Fomin-Kirillov algebra $\CE_N$ for Schubert calculus on the cohomology of the $GL_N$ flag variety. Noncommutative de Rahm cohomology and moduli of flat connections are computed for $N<6$. We find that flat connections of submaximal cardinality form a natural representation associated to each conjugacy class, often irreducible, and are analogues of the Dunkl elements in $\CE_N$. We also construct $…
We consider some general aspects of the new noncommutative or quantum geometry coming out of the theory of quantum groups, in connection with Planck scale physics. A generalisation of Fourier or wave-particle duality on curved spaces emerges. Another feature is the need for particles with fractional or braid statistics. The conformal group also has a special role.
We introduce a noncommutative and noncocommutative Hopf algebra which takes for certain Hopf categories (and therefore braided monoidal bicategories) a similar role as the Grothendieck- Teichmueller group for quasitensor categories. We also give a result which highly restricts the possibility for similar structures for even higher weak n-categories than bicategories by showing that these structures would not allow for any nontrivial deformations. Finally, we give an explicit description of the elements of this Hopf algebra.
For transcendental values of q the quantum tangent spaces of all left-covariant first order differential calculi of dimension less than four on the quantum group $\SLq 2$ are given. All such differential calculi $Γ$ are determined and investigated for which the left-invariant differential one-forms $ω(u^1_2)$, $ω(u^2_1)$ and $ω(u^1_1-u^2_2)$ generate $Γ$ as a bimodule and the universal higher order differential calculus has the same dimension as in the classical case. Important properties (cohomology spaces, *-structures, braidings, generalized Lie brackets) of these calculi are examined as we…

We construct noncommutative `Riemannian manifold' structures on dual quasitriangular Hopf algebras such as $C_q[SU_2]$ with its standard bicovariant differential calculus, using the quantum frame bundle formalism introduced previously. The metric is provided by the braided-Killing form on the braided-Lie algebra on the tangent space and the $n$-bein by the Maurer-Cartan form. We also apply the theory to finite sets and in particular to finite group function algebras $C[G]$ with differential calculi and Killing forms determined by a conjugacy class. The case of the permutation group $C[S_3]$ is…
We describe the statistical mechanics of a melting crystal in three dimensions and its relation to a diverse range of models arising in combinatorics, algebraic geometry, integrable systems, low-dimensional gauge theories, topological string theory and quantum gravity. Its partition function can be computed by enumerating the contributions from noncommutative instantons to a six-dimensional cohomological gauge theory, which yields a dynamical realization of the crystal as a discretization of spacetime at the Planck scale. We describe analogous relations between a melting crystal model in two d…
A finite set can be supplied with a group structure which can then be used to select (classes of) differential calculi on it via the notions of left-, right- and bicovariance. A corresponding framework has been developed by Woronowicz, more generally for Hopf algebras including quantum groups. A differential calculus is regarded as the most basic structure needed for the introduction of further geometric notions like linear connections and, moreover, for the formulation of field theories and dynamics on finite sets. Associated with each bicovariant first order differential calculus on a finite…
We find and classify all bialgebras and Hopf algebras or `quantum groups' of dimension $\le 4$ over the field $\Bbb F_2=\{0,1\}$. We summarise our results as a quiver, where the vertices are the inequivalent algebras and there is an arrow for each inequivalent bialgebra or Hopf algebra built from the algebra at the source of the arrow and the dual of the algebra at the target of the arrow. There are 314 distinct bialgebras, and among them 25 Hopf algebras with at most one of these from one vertex to another. We find a unique smallest noncommutative and noncocommutative one, which is moreover s…
GL_q(N)- and SO_q(N)-covariant deformations of the completely symmetric/antisymmetric projectors with an arbitrary number of indices are explicitly constructed as polynomials in the braid matrices. The precise relation between the completely antisymmetric projectors and the completely antisymmetric tensor is determined. Adopting the GL_q(N)- and SO_q(N)-covariant differential calculi on the corresponding quantum group covariant noncommutative spaces C_q^N, R_q^N, we introduce a generalized notion of vielbein basis (or "frame"), based on differential-operator-valued 1-forms. We then give a thor…
