We prove a substantial extension of a well-known result due to Bennett and Carl: The inclusion of a 2-concave symmetric Banach sequence space E into l_2 is (E,1)-summing, i.e. for every unconditionally summable sequence (x_n) in E the scalar sequence (||x_n||_2) is contained in E. Various applications are given, e.g. to the theory of eigenvalue distribution of compact operators and approximation theory.
In this paper we obtain new inclusion and coincidence theorems for absolutely or multiple summing multilinear mappings. In particular, we derive optimal coincidence theorems of Bohnenblust-Hille type for multilinear forms on K-convex Banach spaces of cotype 2.
We discuss the multiple summability of a multilinear map $T:X_1\times\cdots\times X_m\to Y$ when we have informations on the summability of the maps it induces on each coordinate. Our methods have applications to inclusion theorems for multiple summing multilinear mappings and to the product of $p$-Sidon sets.
Consider a Banach space valued measurable function $f$ and an operator $u$ from the space where {$f$} takes values. If $f $ is Pettis integrable, a classical result due to J. Diestel shows that composing it with $u$ gives a Bochner integrable function $u \circ f$ whenever $u$ is absolutely summing. In a previous work we have shown that a well-known interpolation technique for operator ideals allows to prove under some requirements that a composition of a $p$-Pettis integrable function with a $q$-summing operator provides an $r$-Bochner integrable function. In this paper a new abstract inclusio…
It is shown that the ultimate version of the nonlinear Pietsch Domination Theorem remains true, even in a stronger presentation, if one of its hypotheses is removed. More precisely, we show that no trace of (sub)-homogeneity assumption is needed. Some consequences are also presented.
We prove that the multiple summing norm of multilinear operators defined on some $n$-dimensional real or complex vector spaces with the $p$-norm may be written as an integral with respect to stables measures. As an application we show inclusion and coincidence results for multiple summing mappings. We also present some contraction properties and compute or estimate the limit orders of this class of operators.
Building upon the linear version of mixed summable sequences in arbitrary Banach spaces of A. Pietsch, we introduce a nonlinear version of his concept and study its properties. Extending previous work of J. D. Farmer, W. B. Johnson and J. A. Chávez-Domínguez, we define Lipschitz $\left(\mathfrak{m}^L\left(s;q\right),p\right)$ and Lipschitz $\left(p,\mathfrak{m}^L\left(s;q\right)\right)-$summing maps and establish inclusion theorems, composition theorems and several characterizations. Furthermore, we prove that the classes of Lipschitz $\left(r,\mathfrak{m}^L\left(r;r\right)\right)-$summing map…
We constructively determine the Pietsch measure of the 2-summing multiplication operator \[\mathcal{M}_u:\ell^{\infty} \rightarrow H^p, \quad (φ_I) \mapsto \sum φ_Ix_Ih_I. \] Our construction of the Pietsch measure for the multiplication operator $\mathcal{M}_u$ involves the Haar coefficients of $u$ and its atomic decomposition.
In this work we show that, given a linear map from a general operator space into the dual of a C$^*$-algebra, its completely bounded norm is upper bounded by a universal constant times its $(1,cb)$-summing norm. This problem is motivated by the study of quantum XOR games in the field of quantum information theory. In particular, our results imply that for such games entangled strategies cannot be arbitrarily better than those strategies using one-way classical communication.
For $f \in H^p(δ^2)$, $0<p\leq 2$, with Haar expansion $f=\sum f_{I \times J}h_{I\times J}$ we constructively determine the Pietsch measure of the $2$-summing multiplication operator \[\mathcal{M}_f:\ell^{\infty} \rightarrow H^p(δ^2), \quad (φ_{I\times J}) \mapsto \sum φ_{I\times J}f_{I \times J}h_{I \times J}. \] Our method yields a constructive proof of Pisier's decomposition of $f \in H^p(δ^2)$ \[|f|=|x|^{1-θ}|y|^θ\quad\quad \text{ and }\quad\quad \|x\|_{X_0}^{1-θ}\|y\|^θ_{H^2(δ^2)}\leq C\|f\|_{H^p(δ^2)}, \] where $X_0$ is Pisier's extrapolation lattice associated to $H^p(δ^2)$ and $H^2(δ^2…
A proof using the theory of completely positive maps is given to the fact that if $A \in M_2$, or $A \in M_3$ has a reducing eigenvalue, then every bounded linear operator $B$ with $W(B) \subseteq W(A)$ has a dilation of the form $I \otimes A$. This gives a unified treatment for the different cases of the result obtained by researchers using different techniques.
The notion of mid $p$-summable sequences was introduced by Karn and Sinha in 2014 and recently explored and expanded by Botelho, Campos and Santos in 2017. In this paper we design a theory of mid summable sequences in the anisotropic setting defining a new more general space called space of mid $(q,p)$-summable sequences. As a particular case of our results, we prove an inclusion relation between spaces of mid summable sequences. We also define classes of operators that deals with this new space, the mid $(q,p)$-summing operators, and prove some important results on these classes as inclusion …
In this paper we define and study a vector-valued sequence space, called the space of anisotropic $(s,q,r)$-summable sequences, that generalizes the classical space of $(s; q)$-mixed sequences (or mixed $(s; q)$-summable sequences). Furthermore, we define two classes of linear operators involving this new space and one of them generalizes the class of $(s; q) $-mixed linear operators due A. Pietsch. Some characterizations, inclusion results and a Pietsch domination-type theorem are presented for these classes. It is worth mentioning that some of these results are new even in the particular cas…
We develop a systematic approach to the study of duality for ideals of Lipschitz maps from a metric space to a Banach space, inspired by the classical theory that relates ideals of operators and tensor norms for Banach spaces, by using the Lipschitz tensor products previously introduced by the same authors. We first study spaces of Lipschitz maps, from a metric space to a dual Banach space, that can be represented canonically as the dual of a Lipschitz tensor product endowed with a Lipschitz cross-norm. We show that several known examples of ideals of Lipschitz maps (Lipschitz maps, Lipschitz …
We consider *-linear maps into a commutative C*-algebra C (X) of continuous functions on a locally compact Hausdorff space X with certain specified properties and prove two results: (1) an extension result for a class of *-linear maps Y --> C (X) which may be called of locally compact type (locally finite) with respect to an inclusion Y < X of normed vector spaces, and (2) a minimal decomposition for certain *-linear maps into C (X) (absolutely continuous) as a difference of two positive maps.
The nonlinear concepts of mixed summable families and maps for the spaces that only non-void sets are developed. Several characterizations of the corresponding concepts are achieved and the proof for a general Pietsch Domination-type theorem is established. Furthermore, this work has presented plenty of composition and inclusion results between different classes of mappings in the abstract settings. Finally, a generalized notation of mixing maps and their characteristics are extended to a more general setting.
We prove the existence of free objects in certain subcategories of Banach lattices, including $p$-convex Banach lattices, Banach lattices with upper $p$-estimates, and AM-spaces. From this we immediately deduce that projectively universal objects exist in each of these subcategories, extending results of Leung, Li, Oikhberg and Tursi (\emph{Israel J.\ Math.}~2019). In the $p$-con\-vex and AM-space cases, we are able to explicitly identify the norms of the free Banach lattices, and we conclude by investigating the structure of these norms in connection with nonlinear $p$-summing maps.
We classify several notions of norm attaining Lipschitz maps which were introduced previously, and present the relations among them in order to verify proper inclusions. We also analyze some results for the sets of Lipschitz maps satisfying each of these properties to be dense or not in $\Lip(X,Y)$. For instance, we characterize a Banach space $Y$ with the Radon-Nikodým property in terms of the denseness of norm attaining Lipschitz maps with values in $Y$. Further, we introduce a property called the local directional Bishop-Phelps-Bollobás property for Lipschitz compact maps, which extends the…
We prove that if an amenable operator algebra is nearly contained in a complemented dual operator algebra, then it can be embedded inside this dual operator algebra via a similarity. The proof relies on a B.E. Johnson Theorem on approximately multiplicative maps.
Let $X$ be a Banach space and let $C$ be a closed convex bounded subset of $X$. It is proved that $C$ is weakly compact if, and only if, $C$ has the {it generic} fixed point property ($\mathcal{G}$-FPP) for the class of $L$-bi-Lipschitz affine mappings for every $L>1$. It is also proved that if $X$ has Pełczyński's property $(u)$, then either $C$ is weakly compact, contains an $\ell_1$-sequence or a $\mathrm{c}_0$-summing basic sequence. In this case, weak compactness of $C$ is equivalent to the $\mathcal{G}$-FPP for the strengthened class of affine mappings that are uniformly bi-Lipschitz. We…

To help understand various reproducing kernels used in applied sciences, we investigate the inclusion relation of two reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces. Characterizations in terms of feature maps of the corresponding reproducing kernels are established. A full table of inclusion relations among widely-used translation invariant kernels is given. Concrete examples for Hilbert-Schmidt kernels are presented as well. We also discuss the preservation of such a relation under various operations of reproducing kernels. Finally, we briefly discuss the special inclusion with a norm equivalence.
We study a few approaches to identify inclusion (up to a shift) between two convex bodies in ${\mathbb R}^n$. To this goal we use mixed volumes and fractional linear maps. We prove that inclusion may be identified by comparing volume or surface area of all projective positions of the sets. We prove similar results for Minkowski sums of the sets.
We consider the dilation property of the modulation spaces $M^{p,q}$. Let $D_λ:f(t)\mapsto f(λt)$ be the dilation operator, and we consider the behavior of the operator norm $\|D_λ\|_{M^{p,q}\to M^{p,q}}$ with respect to $λ$. Our result determines the best order for it, and as an application, we establish the optimality of the inclusion relation between the modulation spaces and Besov space, which was proved by Toft.
In the present paper, we introduce and investigate a new class of positively $p$-nuclear operators that are positive analogues of right $p$-nuclear operators. One of our main results establishes an identification of the dual space of positively $p$-nuclear operators with the class of positive $p$-majorizing operators that is a dual notion of positive $p$-summing operators. As applications, we prove the duality relationships between latticially $p$-nuclear operators introduced by O. I. Zhukova and positively $p$-nuclear operators. We also introduce a new concept of positively $p$-integral opera…
We prove that the Moyal multiplier algebras of the generalized Gelfand-Shilov spaces of type $S$ contain Palamodov spaces of type $\mathcal E$ and the inclusion maps are continuous. We also give a direct proof that the Palamodov spaces are algebraically and topologically isomorphic to the strong duals of the spaces of convolutors for the corresponding spaces of type $S$. The obtained results provide an effective way to describe the properties of pseudodifferential operators with symbols in the spaces of type $\mathcal E$.
This work presents a general principle, in the spirit of convex integration, leading to a method for the characterization of Young measures generated by gradients of maps in $W^{1,p}$ with $p$ less than the space dimension, whose Jacobian determinant is subjected to a range of constraints. Two special cases are particularly important in the theories of elasticity and fluid dynamics: (a) the generating gradients have positive Jacobians that are uniformly bounded away from zero and (b) the underlying deformations are incompressible, corresponding to their Jacobian determinants being constantly o…
