Lie conformal algebras appear in the theory of vertex algebras. Their relation is similar to that of Lie algebras and their universal enveloping algebras. Associative conformal algebras play a role in conformal representation theory. We introduce the notions of conformal identity and unital associative conformal algebras and classify finitely generated simple unital associative conformal algebras of linear growth. These are precisely the complete algebras of conformal endomorphisms of finite modules.
We describe all irreducible conformal subalgebras of Cend_N. The classification of simple and semisimple associative conformal algebras with finite faithful representation follows from this description.
In this paper, we consider graded associative conformal algebras. The class of these objects includes pseudo-algebras over non-cocommutative Hopf algebras of regular functions on some linear algebraic groups. In particular, an associative conformal algebra which is graded by a finite group $Γ$ is a pseudo-algebra over the coordinate Hopf algebra of a linear algebraic group $G$ such that the identity component $G^0$ is the affine line and $G/G^0\simeq Γ$. A classification of simple and semisimple graded associative conformal algebras of finite type is obtained.
In this note, we introduce a class of algebras that are in some sense related to conformal algebras. This class (called TC-algebras) includes Weyl algebras and some of their (associative and Lie) subalgebras. By a conformal algebra we generally mean what is known as $H$-pseudo-algebra over the polynomial Hopf algebra $H=\Bbbk[T_1,..., T_n]$. Some recent results in structure theory of conformal algebras are applied to get a description of TC-algebras.
In this paper, we introduce the notions of crossed module of associative conformal algebras, 2-term strongly homotopy associative conformal algebras, and discuss the relationship between them and the 3-th Hochschild cohomology of associative conformal algebras. We classify the non-abelian extensions by introducing the non-abelian cohomology. We show that non-abelian extensions of an associative conformal algebra can be viewed as Maurer-Cartan elements of a suitable differential graded Lie algebra, and prove that the Deligne groupoid of this differential graded Lie algebra corresponds one to on…
We prove that a Lie conformal algebra L with bounded locality function is embeddable into an associative conformal algebra A with the same bound on the locality function. If L is nilpotent, then so is A, and the nilpotency index remains the same. We also give a list of open questions concerning the embedding of Lie conformal algebras into associative conformal.
We present an approach to the computation of confluent systems of defining relations in associative conformal algebras based on the similar technique for modules over ordinary associative algebras.
Associative conformal algebras of conformal endomorphisms are of essential importance for the study of finite representations of conformal Lie algebras (Lie vertex algebras). We describe all semisimple algebras of conformal endomorphisms which have the trivial second Hochschild cohomology group with coefficients in every conformal bimodule. As a consequence, we state a complete solution of the radical splitting problem in the class of associative conformal algebras with a finite faithful representation.
This note is to show the effectiveness of the notion of pseudoalgebra in the theory of conformal algebras. We adduce very simple construction of free associative conformal algebra and find its linear basis. There is no any new result but we hope that the technique could be useful for further development of the theory of conformal algebras and pseudoalgebras.
We prove a finite torsion-free associative conformal algebra to have a finite faithful conformal representation. As a corollary, it is shown that one may join a conformal unit to such an algebra. Some examples are stated to demonstrate that a conformal unit can not be joined to any torsion-free associative conformal algebra. In particular, there exist associative conformal algebras of linear growth and even locally finite ones that have no finite faithful representation. We also consider the problem of existence of a finite faithful representation for a torsion-free finite Lie conformal algebr…
In this paper, we construct a bialgebra theory for associative conformal algebras, namely antisymmetric infinitesimal conformal bialgebras. On the one hand, it is an attempt to give conformal structures for antisymmetric infinitesimal bialgebras. On the other hand, under certain conditions, such structures are equivalent to double constructions of Frobenius conformal algebras, which are associative conformal algebras that are decomposed into the direct sum of another associative conformal algebra and its conformal dual as $\mathbb{C}[\partial]$-modules such that both of them are subalgebras an…
We apply discrete algebraic Morse theory to the computation of Hochschild cohomologies of associative conformal algebras. As an example, we evaluate the dimensions of the universal associative conformal envelope $U(3)$ of the Virasoro Lie conformal algebra relative to the associative locality $N=3$ on the generator with scalar coefficients.
Lie conformal algebras are useful tools for studying vertex operator algebras and their representations. In this paper, we establish close relations between Poisson conformal algebras and representations of Lie conformal algebras. We also calculate explicitly Poisson conformal brackets on the associated graded conformal algebras of universal associative conformal envelopes of Virasoro conformal algebra and Neveu--Schwartz conformal superalgebra.
We investigate an analogue of the Wedderburn principal theorem for associative conformal algebras with finite faithful representations. It is shown that the radical splitting property for an algebra of this kind holds if the maximal semisimple factor of this algebra is unital, but does not hold in general.
We set up a strategy for studying large families of logarithmic conformal field theories by using the enlarged symmetries and non--semi-simple associative algebras appearing in their lattice regularizations (as discussed in a companion paper). Here we work out in detail two examples of theories derived as the continuum limit of XXZ spin-1/2 chains, which are related to spin chains with supersymmetry algebras gl($n|n$) and gl($n+1|n$), respectively, with open (or free) boundary conditions in all cases. These theories can also be viewed as vertex models, or as loop models. Their continuum limits…
Pseudoalgebras, introduced in [BDK], are multi-dimensional analogues of conformal algebras, which provide an axiomatic description of the singular part of the operator product expansion. Our main interest in this paper is the pseudoalgebra Cend_n, which is the analogue of an algebra of endomorphisms of a finite module. We study its algebraic properties. In particular, we introduce the class of unital pseudoalgebras and describe their structure and representations. Also, we classify pseudoalgebras algebraically similar to Cend_n.
Any variety of classical algebras has a so-called conformal counterpart. For example one can consider Lie conformal or associative conformal algebras. Lie conformal algebras are closely related to vertex algebras. We define free objects in the categories of conformal and vertex algebras. In some cases we can explicitly build their Groebner bases.
We study $\N$-graded $ϕ$-coordinated modules for a general quantum vertex algebra $V$ of a certain type in terms of an associative algebra $\widetilde{A}(V)$ introduced by Y.-Z. Huang. Among the main results, we establish a bijection between the set of equivalence classes of irreducible $\N$-graded $ϕ$-coordinated $V$-modules and the set of isomorphism classes of irreducible $\widetilde{A}(V)$-modules. We also show that for a vertex operator algebra, rationality, regularity, and fusion rules are independent of the choice of the conformal vector.
We distinguish a class of irreducible finite representations of conformal Lie (super)algebras. These representations (called universally defined) are the simplest ones from the computational point of view: a universally defined representation of a conformal Lie (super)algebra $L$ is completely determined by commutation relations of $L$ and by the requirement of associative locality of generators. We describe such representations for conformal superalgebras $W_n$, $n\ge 0$, with respect to a natural set of generators. We also consider the problem for superalgebras $K_n$. In particular, we find …
In this paper, we first recall the notion of (noncommutative) Poisson conformal algebras and describe some constructions of them. Then we study the formal distribution (noncommutative) Poisson algebras and coefficient (noncommutative) Poisson algebras. Next, we introduce the notion of conformal formal deformations of commutative associative conformal algebras and show that Poisson conformal algebras are the corresponding semi-classical limits. At last, we develop the cohomology theory of noncommutative Poisson conformal algebras and use this cohomology to study their deformations.
In this paper, we construct six families of infinite simple conformal superalgebra of finite growth based on our earlier work on constructing vertex operator superalgebras from graded assocaitive algebras. Three subfamilies of these conformal superalgebras are generated by simple Jordan algebras of types A, B and C in a certain sense.
It is known that there are 48 Virasoro algebras acting on the monster conformal field theory. We call conformal field theories with such a property, which are not necessarily chiral, code conformal field theories. In this paper, we introduce a notion of a framed algebra, which is a finite-dimensional non-associative algebra, and showed that the category of framed algebras and the category of code conformal field theories are equivalent. We have also constructed a new family of integrable conformal field theories using this equivalence. These conformal field theories are expected to be useful f…
We introduce notions of open-string vertex algebra, conformal open-string vertex algebra and variants of these notions. These are ``open-string-theoretic,'' ``noncommutative'' generalizations of the notions of vertex algebra and of conformal vertex algebra. Given an open-string vertex algebra, we show that there exists a vertex algebra, which we call the ``meromorphic center,'' inside the original algebra such that the original algebra yields a module and also an intertwining operator for the meromorphic center. This result gives us a general method for constructing open-string vertex algebras…
In this article, we first give a short introduction to conformal algebras. Then we present three families of simple conformal algebras finite growth generated by simple Jordan algebras of types A, B, C.
This thesis contains results relevant for two different classes of conformal field theory. We partly treat rational conformal field theory, but also derive results that aim at a better understanding of logarithmic conformal field theory. For rational conformal field theory, we generalize the proof that the construction of correlators, via three-dimensional topological field theory, satisfies the consistency conditions to oriented world sheets with defect lines. We also derive a classifying algebra for defects. This is a semisimple commutative associative algebra over the complex numbers whose …
We demonstrate that topological defects in a rational conformal field theory can be described by a classifying algebra for defects - a finite-dimensional semisimple unital commutative associative algebra whose irreducible representations give the defect transmission coefficients. We show in particular that the structure constants of the classifying algebra are traces of operators on spaces of conformal blocks and that the defect transmission coefficients determine the defect partition functions.
We develop in this paper the principles of an associative algebraic approach to bulk logarithmic conformal field theories (LCFTs). We concentrate on the closed $gl(1|1)$ spin-chain and its continuum limit - the $c=-2$ symplectic fermions theory - and rely on two technical companion papers, "Continuum limit and symmetries of the periodic gl(1|1) spin chain" [Nucl. Phys. B 871 (2013) 245-288] and "Bimodule structure in the periodic gl(1|1) spin chain" [Nucl. Phys. B 871 (2013) 289-329]. Our main result is that the algebra of local Hamiltonians, the Jones-Temperley-Lieb algebra JTL_N, goes over i…
A two-dimensional chiral conformal field theory can be viewed mathematically as the representation theory of its chiral algebra, a vertex operator algebra. Vertex operator algebras are especially well suited for studying logarithmic conformal field theory (in which correlation functions have logarithmic singularities arising from non-semisimple modules for the chiral algebra) because of the logarithmic tensor category theory of Huang, Lepowsky, and Zhang. In this paper, we study not-necessarily-semisimple or rigid braided tensor categories $\mathcal{C}$ of modules for the fixed-point vertex op…
