This paper is concerned with the concept of linear repetitivity in the theory of tilings. We prove a general uniform subadditive ergodic theorem for linearly repetitive tilings. This theorem unifies and extends various known (sub)additive ergodic theorems on tilings. The results of this paper can be applied in the study of both random operators and lattice gas models on tilings.

Linear repetitivity and subadditive ergodic theorems for cut and project sets

By using a combination of algebraic, geometric, and dynamical techniques, together with input from higher dimensional Diophantine approximation, we give a complete characterization of all linearly repetitive cut and project sets with cubical windows. We also prove that these are precisely the collection of such sets which satisfy subadditive ergodic theorems. The results are explicit enough to allow us to apply them to known classical models, and to construct linearly repetitive cut and project sets in all pairs of dimensions and codimensions in which they exist.

Hierarchical structures in Sturmian dynamical systems

Uniform ergodic theorems on subshifts over a finite alphabet

We investigate uniform ergodic type theorems for additive and subadditive functions on a subshift over a finite alphabet. We show that every strictly ergodic subshift admits a uniform ergodic theorem for Banach-space-valued additive functions. We then give a necessary and sufficient condition on a minimal subshift to allow for a uniform subadditive ergodic theorem. This provides in particular a sufficient condition for unique ergodicity.

Subadditive and Multiplicative Ergodic Theorems

A result for subadditive ergodic cocycles is proved that provides more delicate information than Kingman's subadditive ergodic theorem. As an application we deduce a multiplicative ergodic theorem generalizing an earlier result of Karlsson-Ledrappier, showing that the growth of a random product of semi-contractions is always directed by some horofunction. We discuss applications of this result to ergodic cocycles of bounded linear operators, holomorphic maps and topical operators, as well as a random mean ergodic theorem.

Nonadditive Measure-theoretic Pressure and Applications to Dimensions of an Ergodic Measure

Without any additional conditions on subadditive potentials, this paper defines subadditive measure-theoretic pressure, and shows that the subadditive measure-theoretic pressure for ergodic measures can be described in terms of measure-theoretic entropy and a constant associated with the ergodic measure. Zero temperature limits of equilibrium states for subadditive potentials and approximation of the maximal Lyapunov exponent

In this paper we study ergodic optimization problems for subadditive sequences of functions on a topological dynamical system. We prove that for $t\rightarrow \infty$ any accumulation point of a family of equilibrium states is a maximizing measure. Cut and project sets with polytopal window II: linear repetitivity

This paper gives a complete classification of linear repetitivity (LR) for a natural class of aperiodic Euclidean cut and project schemes with convex polytopal windows. Our results cover those cut and project schemes for which the lattice projects densely into the internal space and (possibly after translation) hits each supporting hyperplane of the polytopal window. Constructing the Oseledets decomposition with subspace growth estimates

The semi-invertible version of Oseledets' multiplicative ergodic theorem providing a decomposition of the underlying state space of a random linear dynamical system into fast and slow spaces is deduced for a strongly measurable cocycle on a separable Banach space. Measures of full dimension on self-affine sets

Under the assumption of a natural subadditive potential, the so called cylinder function, working on the symbol space we prove the existence of the ergodic invariant probability measure satisfying the equilibrium state.
