Vertex algebras in higher dimensions provide an algebraic framework for investigating axiomatic quantum field theory with global conformal invariance. We develop further the theory of such vertex algebras by introducing formal calculus techniques and investigating the notion of polylocal fields. We derive a Jacobi identity which together with the vacuum axiom can be taken as an equivalent definition of vertex algebra.
Assuming special relativity and Hamiltonian particle dynamics for a noncanonical Poisson bracket, the Jacobi identity is shown to have nontrivial physical consequences, including the homogeneous Maxwell equations and the geodesic law of motion of curved spacetime.
It was proved by Macdonald that the Giambelli identity holds if we define the Schur functions using the Jacobi-Trudi identity. Previously for the super Chern-Simons matrix model (the spherical one-point function of the superconformal Chern-Simons theory describing the worldvolume of the M2-branes) the Giambelli identity was proved from a shifted version of it. With the same shifted Giambelli identity we can further prove the Jacobi-Trudi identity, which strongly suggests an integrable structure for this matrix model.
设$V$是强正则顶点算子代数.对于满足适当完整性条件的状态$h \in V_1$,我们证明了迹函数Tr $_Mq^{L(0)-c/24}ζ^{h(0)} ($ M $ a $ V $-module) is a vector-valued weak Jacobi form of weight 0 and a certain index $ <h,h >/2 $. We discuss refinements and applications of this result when $ V $ is holomorphic, in particular we prove that if $ g = e^{h(0)} $ is a finite order automorphism then Tr$ _V q^{L(0)-c/24}g $ is a modular function of weight 0 on a congruence subgroup of $ SL_2(Z)$所张成的空间.
We discuss the appearance of Jacobi automorphic forms in the theory of superconformal vertex algebras, explaining it by way of supercurves and formal geometry. We touch on related topics such as Ramanujan's differential equations for Eisenstein series.
The purpose of this work is to illustrate in a family of interesting examples how to study the representation theory of vertex operator superalgebras by combining the theory of vertex algebra extensions and modular forms. Let $L_k\left(\mathfrak{osp}(1 | 2)\right)$ be the simple affine vertex operator superalgebra of $\mathfrak{osp}(1|2)$ at an admissible level $k$. We use a Jacobi form decomposition to see that this is a vertex operator superalgebra extension of $L_k(\mathfrak{sl}_2)\otimes \text{Vir}(p, (p+p')/2)$ where $k+3/2=p/(2p')$ and $\text{Vir}(u, v)$ denotes the regular Virasoro vert…
We consider a hierarchy of Poisson structures defined on rational functions on the Riemann sphere. This hierarchy is originated in the theory of the integrable Camassa-Holm equation associated with the Krein's string spectral problem. Previously the proof of Jacobi identity was obtained by reducing the bracket to canonical Darboux coordinates. The main result of this note is a direct proof of the Jacobi identity. It turns out that the direct proof of the Jacobi identity is far from trivial. We also give an example of another hierarchy of Poisson brackets and construct Darboux coordinates for i…
The spectral properties of two special classes of Jacobi operators are studied. For the first class represented by the $2M$-dimensional real Jacobi matrices whose entries are symmetric with respect to the secondary diagonal, a new polynomial identity relating the eigenvalues of such matrices with their matrix { entries} is obtained. In the limit $M\to\infty$ this identity induces some requirements, which should satisfy the scattering data of the resulting infinite-dimensional Jacobi operator in the half-line, which super- and sub-diagonal matrix elements are equal to -1. We obtain such require…
Classical electromagnetism with magnetic monopoles is not a Hamiltonian field theory because the Jacobi identity for the Poisson bracket fails. The Jacobi identity is recovered only if all of the species have the same ratio of electric to magnetic charge or if an electron and a monopole can never collide. Without the Jacobi identity, there are no local canonical coordinates or Lagrangian action principle. To build a quantum theory of magnetic monopoles, we either must explain why the positions of electrons and monopoles can never coincide or we must resort to new quantization techniques.
We prove an identity that relates the q-Laplace transform of the height function of a (higher spin inhomogeneous) stochastic six vertex model in a quadrant on one side, and a multiplicative functional of a Macdonald measure on the other. The identity is used to prove the GUE Tracy-Widom asymptotics for two instances of the stochastic six vertex model via asymptotics analysis of the corresponding Schur measures.
The geometric approach [1312.1262] to iterated variations of local functionals -- e.g., of the (master-)action functional -- resulted in an extension of the deformation quantisation technique to the set-up of Poisson models of field theory [IHES/M/15/13]. It also allowed of a rigorous proof ([1312.1262],[1210.0726]) for the main inter-relations between the Batalin-Vilkovisky (BV) Laplacian $Δ$ and variational Schouten bracket. The ad hoc use of these relations had been a known analytic difficulty in the BV-formalism for quantisation of gauge systems; now achieved, the proof does actually not r…
In this survey, we review the classical Hamilton Jacobi theory from a geometric point of view in different geometric backgrounds. We propose a Hamilton Jacobi equation for different geometric structures attending to one particular characterization: whether they fulfill the Jacobi and Leibniz identities simultaneously, or if at least they satisfy one of them. In this regard, we review the case of time dependent and dissipative physical systems as systems that fulfill the Jacobi identity but not the Leibnitz identity. Furthermore, we review the contact evolution Hamilton Jacobi theory as a split…
Fully inhomogeneous spin Hall-Littlewood symmetric rational functions $F_λ$ are multiparameter deformations of the classical Hall-Littlewood symmetric polynomials and can be viewed as partition functions in $\mathfrak{sl}(2)$ higher spin six vertex models. We obtain a refined Littlewood identity expressing a weighted sum of $F_λ$'s over all partitions $λ$ with even multiplicities as a certain Pfaffian. This Pfaffian can be derived as a partition function of the six vertex model in a triangle with suitably decorated domain wall boundary conditions. The proof is based on the Yang-Baxter equation…
We consider Hamiltonian closures of the Vlasov equation using the phase-space moments of the distribution function. We provide some conditions on the closures imposed by the Jacobi identity. We completely solve some families of examples. As a result, we show that imposing that the resulting reduced system preserves the Hamiltonian character of the parent model shapes its phase space by creating a set of Casimir invariants as a direct consequence of the Jacobi identity.
