Anomalous scaling for 3d Cahn-Hilliard fronts

We prove the stability of the one dimensional kink solution of the Cahn-Hilliard equation under d-dimensional perturbations for d > 2. We also establish a novel scaling behavior of the large time asymptotics of the solution. The leading asymptotics of the solution is characterized by a length scale proportional to the cubic root of t instead of the usual square root of t scaling typical to parabolic problems.

Cahn-Hilliard Equations and Phase Transition Dynamics for Binary Systems

The process of phase separation of binary systems is described by the Cahn-Hilliard equation. The main objective of this article is to give a classification on the dynamic phase transitions for binary systems using either the classical Cahn-Hilliard equation or the Cahn-Hilliard equation coupled with entropy, leading to some interesting physical predictions. The analysis is based on dynamic transition theory for nonlinear systems and new classification scheme for dynamic transitions, developed recently by the authors.

The Cahn-Hilliard Equation with Singular Potentials and Dynamic Boundary Conditions

Our aim in this paper is to study the Cahn-Hilliard equation with singular potentials and dynamic boundary conditions. In particular, we prove, owing to proper approximations of the singular potential and a suitable notion of variational solutions, the existence and uniqueness of solutions. We also discuss the separation of the solutions from the singularities of the potential. Finally, we prove the existence of global and exponential attractors.

A mathematical model for phase separation: A generalized Cahn-Hilliard equation

In this paper we present a mathematical model to describe the phenomenon of phase separation, which is modelled as space regions where an order parameter changes smoothly. The model proposed, including thermal and mixing effects, is deduced for an incompressible fluid, so the resulting differential system couples a generalized Cahn-Hilliard equation with the Navier-Stokes equation. Its consistency with the second law of thermodynamics in the classical Clausius-Duhem form is finally proved.

A Hilbert expansions method for the rigorous sharp interface limit of the generalized Cahn-Hilliard Equation

We consider Cahn-Hilliard equations with external forcing terms. Energy decreasing and mass conservation might not hold. We show that level surfaces of the solutions of such generalized Cahn-Hilliard equations tend to the solutions of a moving boundary problem under the assumption that classical solutions of the latter exist. Weakly nonlocal nonequilibrium thermodynamics: the Cahn-Hilliard equation

The Cahn-Hilliard and Ginzburg-Landau (Allen-Cahn) equations are derived from the second law. The intuitive approach by separation of full divergences is supported by a more rigorous method, based on Liu procedure and a constitutive entropy flux. Thermodynamic considerations eliminate the necessity of variational techniques and explain the role of functional derivatives.

Homogenization of 2D Cahn-Hilliard-Navier-Stokes system

In the current work, we are performing the asymptotic analysis, beyond the periodic setting, of the Cahn-Hilliard-Navier-Stokes system. Under the general deterministic distribution assumption on the microstructures in the domain, we find the limit model equivalent to the heterogeneous one. Well-posedness of a modified degenerate Cahn-Hilliard model for surface diffusion

We study the well-posedness of a modified degenerate Cahn-Hilliard type model for surface diffusion.
