Raising and lowering operators and their factorization for generalized orthogonal polynomials of hypergeometric type on homogeneous and non-homogeneous lattice
We complete the construction of raising and lowering operators, given in a previous work, for the orthogonal polynomials of hypergeometric type on non-homogeneous lattice, and extend these operators to the generalized orthogonal polynomials, namely, those difference of orthogonal polynomials that satisfy a similar difference equation of hypergeometric type.
Supersymmetric quantum mechanics has many applications, and typically uses a raising and lowering operator formalism. For one dimensional problems, we show how such raising and lowering operators may be generalized to include an arbitrary function. As a result, the usual Rodrigues' formula of the theory of orthogonal polynomials may be recovered in special cases, and it may otherwise be generalized to incorporate an arbitrary function. We provide example generalized operators for several important classical orthogonal polynomials, including Chebyshev, Gegenbauer, and other polynomials. In part…
Spin raising and lowering operators for massless field equations constructed from twistor spinors are considered. Solutions of the spin-$\frac{3}{2}$ massless Rarita-Schwinger equation from source-free Maxwell fields and twistor spinors are constructed. It is shown that this construction requires Ricci-flat backgrounds due to the gauge invariance of the massless Rarita-Schwinger equation. Constraints to construct spin raising and lowering operators for Rarita-Schwinger fields are found. Symmetry operators for Rarita-Schwinger fields via twistor spinors are obtained.
In this paper we generalize the spin-raising and lowering operators of spin-weighted spherical harmonics to linear-in-$γ$ spin-weighted spheroidal harmonics where $γ$ is an additional parameter present in the second order ordinary differential equation governing these harmonics. One can then generalize these operators to higher powers in $γ$. Constructing these operators required calculating the $\ell$-, $s$- and $m$-raising and lowering operators (and various combinations of them) of spin-weighted spherical harmonics which have been calculated and shown explicitly in this paper.
For the class of quantum integrable models generated from the $q-$Onsager algebra, a basis of bispectral multivariable $q-$orthogonal polynomials is exhibited. In a first part, it is shown that the multivariable Askey-Wilson polynomials with $N$ variables and $N+3$ parameters introduced by Gasper and Rahman [1] generate a family of infinite dimensional modules for the $q-$Onsager algebra, whose fundamental generators are realized in terms of the multivariable $q-$difference and difference operators proposed by Iliev [2]. Raising and lowering operators extending those of Sahi [3] are also const…
In this paper, we discuss new results related to the generalized discrete $q$-Hermite II polynomials $ \tilde h_{n,α}(x;q)$, introduced by Mezlini et al. in 2014. Our aim is to give a continuous orthogonality relation, a $q$-integral representation and an evaluation at unity of the Poisson kernel, for these polynomials. Furthermore, we introduce $q$-Schrödinger operators and give the raising and lowering operator algebra corresponding to these polynomials. Our results generate a new explicit realization of the quantum algebra $\mathsf{su}_{q}(1, 1)$, using the generators associated with a $q$-…
We propose solutions of the quantum Q-systems of types $B_N,C_N,D_N$ in terms of $q$-difference operators, generalizing our previous construction for the Q-system of type $A$. The difference operators are interpreted as $q$-Whittaker limits of discrete time evolutions of Macdonald-van Diejen type operators. We conjecture that these new operators act as raising and lowering operators for $q$-Whittaker functions, which are special cases of graded characters of fusion products of KR-modules.
We introduce two q-analogues of the 2D-Hermite polynomials which are functions of two complex variables. We derive explicit formulas, orthogonality relations, raising and lowering operator relations, generating functions, and Rodrigues formulas for both families. We also introduce a q-2D analogue of the disk polynomials (Zernike polynomials) and derive similar formulas for them as well including evaluating certain connection coefficients. Some of the generating functions may be related to Rogers-Ramanujan type identities.
We call Krawtchouk-Griffiths systems, KG-systems, systems of multivariate polynomials orthogonal with respect to corresponding multinomial distributions. The original Krawtchouk polynomials are orthogonal with respect to a binomial distribution. Here we present a Fock space construction with raising and lowering operators. The operators of "multiplication by X" are found in terms of boson operators and corresponding recurrence relations presented. The Riccati partial differential equations for the differentiation operators, Berezin transform and associated partial differential equations are fo…
In this paper, we construct corrections to the raising and lowering (i.e. ladder) operators for a quantum harmonic oscillator subjected to a polynomial type perturbation of any degree and to any order in perturbation theory. We apply our formalism to a couple of examples, namely q and p 4 perturbations, and obtain the explicit form of those operators. We also compute the expectation values of position and momentum for the above perturbations. This construction is essential for defining coherent and squeezed states for the perturbed oscillator. Furthermore, this is the first time that correctio…
I solve a quantum chain whose Hamiltonian is comprised solely of local four-fermi operators by constructing free-fermion raising and lowering operators. The free-fermion operators are both non-local and highly non-linear in the local fermions. This construction yields the complete spectrum of the Hamiltonian and an associated classical transfer matrix. The spatially uniform system is gapless with dynamical critical exponent z=3/2, while staggering the couplings gives a more conventional free-fermion model with an Ising transition. The Hamiltonian is equivalent to that of a spin-1/2 chain with …
