General solutions of relativistic wave equations are studied in terms of the functions on the Lorentz group. A close relationship between hyperspherical functions and matrix elements of irreducible representations of the Lorentz group is established. A generalization of the Gel'fand-Yaglom formalism for higher-spin equations is given. It is shown that a two-dimensional complex sphere is associated with the each point of Minkowski spacetime. The separation of variables in a general relativistically invariant system is obtained via the hyperspherical functions defined on the surface of the two-dimensional complex sphere. In virtue of this, the wave functions are represented in the form of series on the hyperspherical functions. Such a description allows to consider all the physical fields on an equal footing. General solutions of the Dirac and Weyl equations, and also the Maxwell equations in the Majorana-Oppenheimer form, are given in terms of the functions on the Lorentz group.
We consider wave packets of free particles with a general energy-momentum dispersion relation $E(p)$. The spreading of the wave packet is determined by the velocity $v = \p_p E$. The position-velocity uncertainty relation $Δx Δv \geq {1/2} |< \p_p^2 E >|$ is saturated by minimal uncertainty wave packets $Φ(p) = A \exp(- αE(p) + βp)$. In addition to the standard minimal Gaussian wave packets corresponding to the non-relativistic dispersion relation $E(p) = p^2/2m$, analytic calculations are presented for the spreading of wave packets with minimal position-velocity uncertainty product for the la…
The velocity basis of the Poincare group is used in the direct product space of two irreducible unitary representations of the Poincare group. The velocity basis with total angular momentum j will be used for the definition of relativistic Gamow vectors.
We study several formulations of zero-mass relativistic equations, stressing similarities between different frameworks. It is shown that all these massless wave equations have fermionic as well as bosonic solutions.
Solitary waves of relativistic invariant nonlinear wave equation with symmetry group U(1) are considered. We prove that the energy-momentum relation for spherically symmetric solitary waves coincides with the Einstein energy-momentum relation for point particles.
We seek to introduce a mathematical method to derive the relativistic wave equations for two-particle system. According to this method, if we define stationary wave functions as special solutions like $Ψ(\mathbf{r}_1,\mathbf{r}_2,t)=ψ(\mathbf{r}_1,\mathbf{r}_2)e^{-iEt/\hbar},\, ψ(\mathbf{r}_1,\mathbf{r}_2)\in\mathscr{S} (\mathbb{R}^3\times\mathbb{R}^3)$, and properly define the relativistic reduced mass $μ_0$, then some new relativistic two-body wave equations can be derived. On this basis, we obtain the two-body Sommerfeld fine-structure formula for relativistic atomic two-body systems such a…
The classical relativistic wave equations are presented as partial difference equations in the arena of covariant discrete phase space. These equations are also expressed as difference-differential equations in discrete phase space and continuous time. The relativistic invariance and covariance of the equations in both versions are established. The partial difference and difference-differential equations are derived as the Euler-Lagrange equations from the variational principle. The difference and difference-differential conservation equations are derived. Finally, the total momentum, energy, …
The classical Lippmann-Schwinger equation plays an important role in the scattering theory (non-relativistic case, Schrödinger equation). In the present paper we consider the relativistic analogue of the Lippmann-Schwinger equation. We represent the corresponding equation in the integral form. Using this integral equation we investigate the stationary scattering problems (relativistic case, Dirac equation). We consider the dynamical scattering problems (relativistic case, Dirac equation) as well.
In this paper, we formulate the relativistic heat equation and the relativistic kinetic Fokker-Planck equations into the GENERIC (General Equation for Non-Equilibrium Reversible-Irreversible Coupling) framework. We also show that the relativistic Maxwellian distribution is the stationary solution of the latter. The GENERIC formulation provides an alternative justification that the two equations are meaningful relativistic generalizations of their nonrelativistic counterparts.
The use of operator methods of algebraic nature is shown to be a very powerful tool to deal with different forms of relativistic wave equations. The methods provide either exact or approximate solutions for various forms of differential equations, such as relativistic Schrödinger, Klein-Gordon and Dirac. We discuss the free particle hypotheses and those relevant to particles subject to non-trivial potentials. In the latter case we will show how the proposed method leads to easily implementable numerical algorithms.
Exact solutions of two-particle relativistic equations of quantum field theory describing the scattering $s$-states and the bound $s$-states are found in the cases of delta-shell potential and superposition of delta-shell potentials. Some properties of obtained relativistic wave functions, scattering amplitudes and quantization conditions are investigated. The resonance character of scattering processes is demonstrated by the behavior of amplitudes. It is shown that the non-relativistic limits of these relativistic values coincide with respective non-relativistic ones obtained from the Schrödi…
Relativistic complex Burgers-Schrödinger and Nonlinear Schrödinger equations are constructed. In the non-relativistic limit they reduce to the standard Burgers and NLS equations respectively and are integrable at any order of relativistic corrections.
In this present communication the relativistic formulation of the curl forces with saddle potentials has been performed. In particular, we formulated the relativistic version of the Kapitza equation. The dynamics and trapping phenomena of this equation have been studied both theoretically and numerically. The numerical results show interesting characteristics of the charged particles associated with the particle trapping and escaping in the relativistic domain. In addition, the relativistic generalization of the Kapitza equation associated with the monkey saddle has also been discussed.
We obtain criteria for shock wave (SW)existence in relativistic magnetic hydrodynamics with no suppositions about convexity of the equation of state. Method of derivation involves consideration of a continuous SW profile in presence of Landau-Lifshitz relativistic viscosity tensor with both non-zero viscosity coefficients.
We study the local-in-time hydrodynamic limit of the relativistic Boltzmann equation using a Hilbert expansion. More specifically, we prove the existence of local solutions to the relativistic Boltzmann equation that are nearby the local relativistic Maxwellian constructed from a class of solutions to the relativistic Euler equations that includes a large subclass of near-constant, non-vacuum fluid states. In particular, for small Knudsen number, these solutions to the relativistic Boltzmann equation have dynamics that are effectively captured by corresponding solutions to the relativistic Eul…
We derive the relativistic Vlasov equation from quantum Hartree dynamics for fermions with relativistic dispersion in the mean-field scaling, which is naturally linked with an effective semiclassic limit. Similar results in the non-relativistic setting have been recently obtained in [6]. The new challenge that we have to face here, in the relativistic setting, consists in controlling the difference between the quantum kinetic energy and the relativistic transport term appearing in the Vlasov equation.
By combining the DiPerna and Lions techniques for the nonrelativistic Boltzmann equation and the Dudyński and Ekiel-Jeżewska device of the causality of the relativistic Boltzmann equation, it is shown that there exists a global mild solution to the Cauchy problem for the relativistic Boltzmann equation with the assumptions of the relativistic scattering cross section including some relativistic hard interactions and the initial data satisfying finite mass, energy and entropy. This is in fact an extension of the result of Dudyński and Ekiel-Jeżewska to the case of the relativistic Boltzmann equ…
Let $G=(V,E)$ be a connected finite graph. We study the relativistic non-Abelian Chern-Simons-Higgs vortex equations on the graph $G$. We establish an existence result to the relativistic non-Abelian Chern-Simons-Higgs vortex equations.
A new probalistic approach to general relativistic kinetic theory is proposed. The general relativistic Boltzmann equation is linked to a new Markov process in a completely intrinsic way. This treatment is then used to prove the causal character of the relativistic Boltzmann model.
We give two hypotheses of the relativistic collision kernal and show the existence and uniqueness of the global mild solution to the relativistic Enskog equation with the initial data near the vacuum for a hard sphere gas.
By using the DiPerna and Lions techniques for the nonrelativistic Boltzmann equation, it is shown that there exists a global mild solution to the Cauchy problem for the relativistic Boltzmann equation with the assumptions of the relativistic scattering cross section including some relativistic hard interactions and the initial data satifying finite mass, ``inertia'', energy and entropy.
We obtain an exact solution of the self-consistent relativistic magnetohydrodynamic equations for an anisotropic magnetoactive plasma in the background of a plane gravitational wave metric (PGW) with an arbitrary polarization. It is shown that, in the linear approximation in the gravitational wave amplitude, only the $\mathbf{e_+}$ polarization of the PGW interacts with a magnetoactive plasma.
The Biedenharn type relativistic wavefunctions are considered on the group manifold of the Poincaré group. It is shown that the wavefunctions can be factorized on the group manifold into translation group and Lorentz group parts. A Lagrangian formalism and field equations for such factorizations are given. Parametrizations of the functions obtained are studied in terms of a ten-parameter set of the Poincaré group. An explicit construction of the wavefunction for the spin 1/2 is given. A relation of the proposed description with the quantum field theory and harmonic analysis on the Poincaré gro…
After a brief account of the derivation of the first-order relativistic hydrodynamic equation as a construction of the invariant manifold of relativistic Boltzmann equation, we give a sketch of derivation of the second-order hydrodynamic equation (extended thermodynamics) both in the nonrelativistic and relativistic cases. We show that the resultant equation suggests a novel ansatz for the functional form to be used in Grad moment method, which turns out to give the same expressions for the transport coefficients as those given in the Chapman-Enskog theory as well as the novel expressions for …
