We prove that, for the moduli space of flat SU(2)-connections on the torus, the Weyl quantization and the quantization using the quantum group of SL(2,C) are unitarily equivalent. This is done by comparing the matrices of the operators associated by the two quantization to cosine functions. We also discuss the *-product of the Weyl quantization and show that it satisfies the product-to-sum formula for noncommutative cosines on the noncommutative torus.
The Weyl quantization of classical observables on the torus (as phase space) without regularity assumptions is explicitly computed. The equivalence class of symbols yielding the same Weyl operator is characterized. The Heisenberg equation for the dynamics of general quantum observables is written through the Moyal brackets on the torus and the support of the Wigner transform is characterized. Finally, a dequantization procedure is introduced that applies, for instance, to the Pauli matrices. As a result we obtain the corresponding classical symbols.
In this paper, we give a correspondence between the Berezin-Toeplitz and the complex Weyl quantizations of the torus $ \mathbb{T}^2$. To achieve this, we use the correspondence between the Berezin-Toeplitz and the complex Weyl quantizations of the complex plane and a relation between the Berezin-Toeplitz quantization of a periodic symbol on the real phase space $\mathbb{R}^2$ and the Berezin-Toeplitz quantization of a symbol on the torus $ \mathbb{T}^2 $.
The moduli space of flat SL(2,R)-connections modulo gauge transformations on the torus may be described by ordered pairs of commuting SL(2,R) matrices modulo simultaneous conjugation by SL(2,R) matrices. Their spectral properties allow a classification of the equivalence classes, and a unique canonical form is given for each of these. In this way the moduli space becomes explicitly parametrized, and has a simple structure, resembling that of a cell complex, allowing it to be depicted. Finally, a Hausdorff topology based on this classification and parametrization is proposed.
We study doubly-periodic instantons, i.e. instantons on the product of a 1-dimensional complex torus T with a complex line C, with quadratic curvature decay. We determine the asymptotic behaviour of these instantons, constructing new asymptotic invariants. We show that the underlying holomorphic bundle extends to TxP1. The converse statement is also true, namely a holomorphic bundle on TxP1 which is flat on the torus at infinity, and satisfies a stability condition, comes from a doubly-periodic instanton. Finally, we study the hyperkahler geometry of the moduli space of doubly-periodic instant…
We study the moduli space of a super Chern-Simons theory on a manifold with the topology ${\bf R}\times §$, where $§$ is a compact surface. The moduli space is that of flat super connections modulo gauge transformations on $§$, and we study in detail the case when $§$ is atorus and the supergroup is $OSp(m|2n)$. The bosonic moduli space is determined by the flat connections for the maximal bosonic subgroup $O(m)\times Sp(2n)$, while the fermionic moduli appear only for special parts of the bosonic moduli space, which are determined by a vanishing determinant of a matrix associated to the boson…
A mapping between operators on the Hilbert space of $N$-dimensional quantum system and the Wigner quasiprobability distributions defined on the symplectic flag manifold is discussed. The Wigner quasiprobability distribution is constructed as a dual pairing between the density matrix and the Stratonovich-Weyl kernel. It is shown that the moduli space of the Stratonovich-Weyl kernel is given by an intersection of the coadjoint orbit space of the $SU(N)$ group and a unit $(N-2)$-dimensional sphere. The general consideration is exemplified by a detailed description of the moduli space of 2, 3 and …
We describe some results concerning the phase space of 3-dimensional Einstein gravity when space is a torus and with negative cosmological constant. The approach uses the holonomy matrices of flat SL(2,R) connections on the torus to parametrise the geometry. After quantization, these matrices acquire non-commuting entries, in such a way that they satisfy q-commutation relations and exhibit interesting geometrical properties. In particular they lead to a quantization of the Goldman bracket.
A normal form transformation is carried out on the operators of a complete set of commuting observables in a multidimensional, integrable quantum system, mapping them by unitary conjugation into functions of the harmonic oscillators in the various degrees of freedom. The transformation works at the level of the Weyl symbols of the operators, which are manipulated as formal power series in hbar by use of the Moyal star product. It is assumed that the Weyl symbol of one of the operators (the Hamiltonian) has a generic, stable fixed point in phase space. The normal form transformation takes place…
The two-sphere valued wave map flow on a Lorentzian domain R x Sigma, where Sigma is any flat two-torus, is studied. The Cauchy problem with initial data tangent to the moduli space of holomorphic maps Sigma -> S^2 is considered, in the limit of small initial velocity. It is proved that wave maps, in this limit, converge in a precise sense to geodesics in the moduli space of holomorphic maps, with respect to the L^2 metric. This establishes, in a rigorous setting, a long-standing informal conjecture of Ward.
We derive a superpotential for null electromagnetic fields in which the field line structure is in the form of an arbitrary torus knot. These fields are shown to correspond to single copies of a class of anti-self-dual Kerr-Schild spacetimes containing the Sparling-Tod metric. This metric is the pure Weyl double copy of the electromagnetic Hopfion, and we show that the Eguchi-Hanson metric is a mixed Weyl double copy of this Hopfion and its conformally inverted state. We formulate two conditions for electromagnetic fields, generalizing torus knotted fields and linked optical vortices, that, vi…
We study the eigenvalues of the Toeplitz quantization of complex-valued functions on the torus subject to small random perturbations given by a complex-valued random matrix whose entries are independent copies of a random variable with mean $0$, variance $1$ and bounded fourth moment. We prove that the eigenvalues of the perturbed operator satisfy a Weyl law with probability close to one, which proves in particular a conjecture by T. Christiansen and M. Zworski.
We study a toy model for "partially open" wave-mechanical system, like for instance a dielectric micro-cavity, in the semiclassical limit where ray dynamics is applicable. Our model is a quantized map on the 2-dimensional torus, with an additional damping at each time step, resulting in a subunitary propagator, or "damped quantum map". We obtain analogues of Weyl's laws for such maps in the semiclassical limit, and draw some more precise estimates when the classical dynamic is chaotic.
We construct locally defined symplectic torus actions on ribbon graph complexes. Symplectic reduction techniques allow for a recursive formula for the symplectic volumes of these spaces. Taking the Laplace transform results in the Eynard-Orantin recursion formulas for the Airy curve x = y^2 / 2.
We prove an analog of the Verlinde formula on the moduli space of semistable meromorphic G-Higgs bundles over a smooth curve for a reductive group G whose fundamental group is free. The formula expresses the graded dimension of the space of sections of a positive line bundle as a finite sum whose terms are indexed by formal solutions of a generalized Bethe ansatz equation on the maximal torus of G. In an appendix, Constantin Teleman proves a vanishing theorem for the higher cohomology of positive line bundles on the stack of Higgs bundles.
Using the Weil-Brezin-Zak transform of solid state physics, we describe line bundles over elliptic curves in terms of Weyl operators. We then discuss the connection with finitely-generated projective modules over the algebra $A_θ$ of the noncommutative torus. We show that such $A_θ$-modules have a natural interpretation as Moyal deformations of vector bundles over an elliptic curve $E_τ$, under the condition that the deformation parameter $θ$ and the modular parameter $τ$ satisfy a non-trivial relation.
Kontsevich and Soibelman defined Donaldson-Thomas invariants of a 3d Calabi-Yau category equipped with a stability condition. Any cluster variety gives rise to a family of such categories. Their DT invariants are encapsulated in a single formal automorphism of the cluster variety, called the DT-transformation. Let S be an oriented surface with punctures, and a finite number of special points on the boundary considered modulo isotopy. It give rise to a moduli space X(m, S), closely related to the moduli space of PGL(m)-local systems on S, which carries a canonical cluster Poisson variety struct…
We present in this paper a construction for Gabor-type frames built out of generalized Weyl-Heisenberg groups. These latter are obtained via central extensions of groups which are direct products of locally compact abelian groups and their duals. Our results generalize many of the results, appearing in the literature, on frames built out of the Schrödinger representation of the standard Weyl-Heisenberg group. In particular, we obtain a generalization of the result in \cite{PO}, in which the product $ab$ determines whether it is possible for the Gabor system $\{E_{mb}T_{na}g \}_{m,n\in \mathbb …
Let G be a split reductive group. We introduce the moduli problem of "bundle chains" parametrizing framed principal G-bundles on chains of lines. Any fan supported in a Weyl chamber determines a stability condition on bundle chains. Its moduli stack provides an equivariant toroidal compactification of G. All toric orbifolds may be thus obtained. Moreover, we get a canonical compactification of any semisimple G, which agrees with the wonderful compactification in the adjoint case, but which in other cases is an orbifold. Finally, we describe the connections with Losev-Manin's spaces of weighted…
