We consider Talagrand-type transportation inequalities for the law of Brownian motion on Carnot groups. An important example is the lift of standard Brownian motion to the Brownian rough path. We present a direct proof on enhanced path space, which also yields equality when restricting to adapted couplings in the transport problem. Moreover, we prove a Talagrand inequality for the heat kernel measure on Carnot groups and deduce the inequality for the law of Brownian motion on Carnot groups via a bottom-up argument. Our study of this enhanced Wiener measure contributes to a longstanding programme to extend key properties of Wiener measure to the non-commutative setting of the enhanced Wiener measure, which is of central importance in Lyons' rough path theory. With a non-commutative sub-Riemannian state space, we observe phenomena that differ from the Euclidean case. In particular, while a top-down projection argument recovers Talagrand's inequality on Euclidean space from the corresponding inequality on the path space, such a projection argument breaks down in the Carnot group setting. We further study a Riemannian approximation of the Heisenberg group, in which case the failure of the top-down projection can be partially overcome. Finally, we show that the cost function used in the Talagrand inequality is a natural choice, in that it arises as a limit of discretised costs in the sense of $Γ$-convergence.
The purpose of this paper is twofold. Firstly, we prove transportation inequalities ${\bf T_2}(C)$ on the space of continuous paths with respect to the uniform metric for the law of the solution to a class of non-linear monotone stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs) driven by the Wiener noise. Furthermore, we also establish the ${\bf T_1}(C)$ property for such SPDEs but with merely locally monotone coefficients, including the stochastic Burgers type equation and stochastic $2$-D Navier-Stokes equation.
We develop a general framework for spectral gap inequalities for Gibbs measures on infinite dimensional spin spaces over nilpotent Lie groups in terms of weak U-bounds and weak single-site spectral gap inequalities. We then provide sufficient conditions on the local specification and give examples of measures constructed using the Kaplan norm and generalising a few results for the Carnot-Caratheodory distance on the Heisenberg group.
Most correlation inequalities for high-dimensional functions in the literature, such as the Fortuin-Kasteleyn-Ginibre (FKG) inequality and the celebrated Gaussian Correlation Inequality of Royen, are qualitative statements which establish that any two functions of a certain type have non-negative correlation. In this work we give a general approach that can be used to bootstrap many qualitative correlation inequalities for functions over product spaces into quantitative statements. The approach combines a new extremal result about power series, proved using complex analysis, with harmonic anal…
We show that there are no general stability results for the logarithmic Sobolev inequality in terms of the Wasserstein distances and $L^{p}(dγ)$ distance for $p>1$. To this end, we construct a sequence of centered probability measures such that the deficit of the logarithmic Sobolev inequality converges to zero but the relative entropy and the moments do not, which leads to instability for the logarithmic Sobolev inequality. As an application, we prove instability results for Talagrand's transportation inequality and the Beckner--Hirschman inequality.
This is an attempt to build Banach space valued theory for certain singular integrals on Hamming cube. Of course all estimates below are dimension independent, and we tried to find ultimate sharp assumptions on the Banach space for a corresponding operators to be bounded. In certain cases we succeeded, although there are still many open questions, some of them are listed in the last Section. Using the approach of \cite{IVHV} and also quantum random variables approach of \cite{ELP} we generalize several theorems of Pisier \cite{P} and Hytönen-Naor \cite{HN}. We also improve the constant in $L^1…
We present concentration inequalities on the multislice which are based on (modified) log-Sobolev inequalities. This includes bounds for convex functions and multilinear polynomials. As an application we show concentration results for the triangle count in the $G(n,M)$ Erdős--Rényi model resembling known bounds in the $G(n,p)$ case. Moreover, we give a proof of Talagrand's convex distance inequality for the multislice. Interpreting the multislice in a sampling without replacement context, we furthermore present concentration results for $n$ out of $N$ sampling without replacement. Based on a b…
