In nonperturbative formulation of Euclidean signature quantum field theory (QFT), the vacuum state is characterized by the Wilsonian renormalization group (RG) flow of Feynman measures. Such an RG flow is a family of Feynman measures on the space of ultraviolet (UV) regularized fields, linked by the Wilsonian renormalization group equation. In this paper we show that under mild conditions, a Wilsonian RG flow of Feynman measures extending to arbitrary regularization strengths has a factorization property: there exists an ultimate Feynman measure (UV limit) on the distribution sense fields, such that the regularized instances in the flow are obtained from this UV limit via taking the marginal measure against the regulator. Existence theorems on the flow and UV limit of the corresponding action functional are also discussed.
By integrating out the heavy fields in type II or heterotic string field theory one can construct the effective action for the light fields. This effective theory inherits all the algebraic structures of the parent theory and the effective action automatically satisfies the Batalin-Vilkovisky quantum master equation. This theory is manifestly ultraviolet finite, has only light fields as its explicit degrees of freedom, and the Feynman diagrams of this theory reproduce the exact scattering amplitudes of light states in string theory to any arbitrary order in perturbation theory. Furthermore in …
This is a continuation of our previous works on entanglement entropy (EE) in interacting field theories. In arXiv:2103.05303, we have proposed the notion of $\mathbb{Z}_M$ gauge theory on Feynman diagrams to calculate EE in quantum field theories and shown that EE consists of two particular contributions from propagators and vertices. As shown in the next paper arXiv:2105.02598, the purely non-Gaussian contributions from interaction vertices can be interpreted as renormalized correlation functions of composite operators. In this paper, we will first provide a unified matrix form of EE containi…
It is widely accepted that the Feynman integral is one of the most promising methodologies for defining a generally covariant formulation of nonperturbative interacting quantum field theories (QFTs) without a fixed prearranged causal background. Recent literature suggests that if the spacetime metric is not fixed, e.g. because it is to be quantized along with the other fields, one may not be able to avoid considering the Feynman integral in the original Lorentz signature, without Wick rotation. Several mathematical phenomena are known, however, which are at some point showstoppers to a mathema…
Wilsonian Effective Actions and the IR/UV Mixing in Noncommutative Gauge Theories
Brownian Motion in the Hilbert Space of Quantum States and the Stochastically Emergent Lorentz Symmetry: A Fractal Geometric Approach from Wiener Process to Formulating Feynman's Path-Integral Measure for Relativistic Quantum Fields
We propose a theoretical understanding of neural networks in terms of Wilsonian effective field theory. The correspondence relies on the fact that many asymptotic neural networks are drawn from Gaussian processes, the analog of non-interacting field theories. Moving away from the asymptotic limit yields a non-Gaussian process and corresponds to turning on particle interactions, allowing for the computation of correlation functions of neural network outputs with Feynman diagrams. Minimal non-Gaussian process likelihoods are determined by the most relevant non-Gaussian terms, according to the fl…
Feynman periods are Feynman integrals that do not depend on external kinematics. Their computation, which is necessary for many applications of quantum field theory, is greatly facilitated by graphical functions or the equivalent conformal four-point integrals. We describe a set of transformation rules that act on such functions and allow their recursive computation in arbitrary even dimensions. As a concrete example we compute all subdivergence-free Feynman periods in $ϕ^3$ theory up to six loops and 561 of 607 Feynman periods at seven loops. Our results support the conjectured existence of a…
We present a new tensor network algorithm for calculating the partition function of interacting quantum field theories in 2 dimensions. It is based on the Tensor Renormalization Group (TRG) protocol, adapted to operate entirely at the level of fields. This strategy was applied in Ref.[1] to the much simpler case of a free boson, obtaining an excellent performance. Here we include an arbitrary self-interaction and treat it in the context of perturbation theory. A real space analogue of the Wilsonian effective action and its expansion in Feynman graphs is proposed. Using a $λϕ^4$ theory for benc…
We define in this paper a class of three indices tensor models, endowed with $O(N)^{\otimes 3}$ invariance ($N$ being the size of the tensor). This allows to generate, via the usual QFT perturbative expansion, a class of Feynman tensor graphs which is strictly larger than the class of Feynman graphs of both the multi-orientable model (and hence of the colored model) and the $U(N)$ invariant models. We first exhibit the existence of a large $N$ expansion for such a model with general interactions. We then focus on the quartic model and we identify the leading and next-to-leading order (NLO) gra…
In this thesis we elaborate on two different aspects of the Effective Field Theory (EFT) approach to a Binary Coalescing system in General Relativity (GR). First, we consider the issue of hereditary effects in the Post-Newtonian (PN) perturbative scheme, and we compute hereditary diagrams in the far zone region up to 5PN order, using both Feynman and Schwinger-Keldysh formalism, comparing our results with those appearing in literature. Then, we focus on the Post-Minkowskian (PM) perturbative scheme, and we compute the bending angle of a massless scalar field under the influence of a massive sc…
Father time. II. A physical basis behind Feynman's idea of antiparticles moving backward in time, and an extension of the CPT theorem to include non-local gauge fields
This paper aims at giving a novel approach to investigate the behavior of the renormalization group flow for tensorial group field theories to all orders of the perturbation theory. From an appropriate choice of the kinetic kernel, we build an infinite family of just-renormalizable models, for tensor fields with arbitrary rank $d$. Investigating the large $ d$ limit, we show that the self-energy melonic amplitude is decomposed as a product of loop-vertex functions, depending only on dimensionless mass. The corresponding melonic amplitudes may be mapped as trees in the so-called Hubbard-Straton…
The Dimensional Regularization of Bollini and Giambiags (Phys. Lett. {\bf B 40}, 566 (1972), Il Nuovo Cim. {\bf B 12}, 20 (1972). Phys. Rev. {\bf D 53}, 5761 (1996)) can not be defined for all Schwartz Tempered Distributions Explicitly Lorentz Invariant (STDELI) ${\cal S}^{'}_L$. In this paper we overcome here such limitation and show that it can be generalized to all aforementioned STDELI and obtain a product in a ring with zero divisors. For this purpose, we resort to a formula obtained in [Int. J. of Theor. Phys. {\bf 43}, 1019 (2004)] and demonstrate the existence of the convolution (in Mi…
