The reduction of Feynman integrals to a basis of linearly independent master integrals is a pivotal step in loop calculations, but also one of the main bottlenecks. In this paper, we assess the impact of using transverse integration identities for the reduction to master integrals. Given an integral family, some of its sectors correspond to diagrams with fewer external legs or to diagrams that can be factorized as products of lower-loop integrals. Using transverse integration identities, i.e. a tensor decomposition in the subspace that is transverse to the external momenta of the diagrams, one can map integrals belonging to such sectors and their subsectors to (products of) integrals belonging to new and simpler integral families, characterized by either fewer generalized denominators, fewer external invariants, fewer loops or combinations thereof. Integral reduction is thus drastically simpler for these new families. We describe a proof-of-concept implementation of the application of transverse integration identities in the context of integral reduction. We include some applications to cutting-edge integral families, showing significant improvements over traditional algorithms.
Anomalies in transverse Ward--Takahashi identities are studied, allowing discussion of the feasibility of anomalies arising in general non-symmetry Ward--Takahashi identities. We adopt the popular Fujikawa's method and rigorous dimensional renormalization to verify the existence of transverse anomalies to one-loop order and any loop order, respectively. The arbitrariness of coefficients of transverse anomalies is revealed, and a way out is also proposed after relating transverse anomalies to Schwinger terms and comparing symmetry and non-symmetry anomalies. Papers that claim the non-existence …
I obtain identities satisfied by the 3-loop self-energy master integrals with four or five propagators with generic masses, including the derivatives with respect to each of the squared masses and the external momentum invariant. These identities are then recast in terms of the corresponding renormalized master integrals, enabling straightforward numerical evaluation of them by the differential equations approach. Some benchmark examples are provided. The method used to obtain the derivative identities relies only on the general form implied by integration by parts relations, without actually …
Novel Master Formula for Twist-3 Soft-Gluon-Pole Mechanism to Single Transverse-Spin Asymmetry
We extend earlier studies of transverse Ward-Fradkin-Green-Takahashi identities in QED, their usefulness to constrain the transverse fermion-boson vertex and their importance for multiplicative renormalizability, to the equivalent gauge identities in QCD. To this end, we consider transverse Slavnov-Taylor identities that constrain the transverse quark-gluon vertex and derive its eight associated scalar form factors. The complete vertex can be expressed in terms of the quark's mass and wave-renormalization functions, the ghost-dressing function, the quark-ghost scattering amplitude and a set of…
We utilize the technology of open quantum systems in conjunction with the recently developed effective field theory for forward scattering to address the question of massless jet propagation through a weakly-coupled quark-gluon plasma in thermal equilibrium. We discuss various possible hierarchies of scales that may appear in this problem, by comparing thermal scales of the plasma with relevant scales in the effective field theory. Starting from the Lindblad equation, we derive and solve a master equation for the transverse momentum distribution of a massless quark jet, at leading orders both …

We analytically compute two-loop Yukawa corrections to Higgs boson pair production in the high-energy limit. Such corrections are generated by an exchange of a Higgs boson between the virtual top quark lines. We propose two approaches to obtain expansions of the massive two-loop box integrals and show that precise results are obtained for transverse momenta of the Higgs bosons above about 150 GeV. We discuss in detail the computation of all 140 master integrals and present analytic results.
