We investigate several aspects of solutions to stochastic evolution equations in Hilbert spaces driven by a standard symmetric $α$-stable cylindrical noise. Similarly to cylindrical Brownian motion or Gaussian white noise, standard symmetric $α$-stable noise exists only in a generalised sense in Hilbert spaces. The main results of this work are the existence of a mild solution, long-term regularity of the solutions via Lyapunov functional approach, and an Itô formula for mild solutions to evolution equations under consideration. The main tools for establishing these results are Yosida approximations and an Itô formula for Hilbert space-valued semi-martingales where the martingale part is represented as an integral driven by cylindrical $α$-stable noise. While these tools are standard in stochastic analysis, due to the cylindrical nature of our noise, their application requires completely novel arguments and techniques.
In this paper, we first study the well-posedness of a class of McKean-Vlasov stochastic partial differential equations driven by cylindrical $α$-stable process, where $α\in(1,2)$. Then by the method of the Khasminskii's time discretization, we prove the averaging principle of a class of multiscale McKean-Vlasov stochastic partial differential equations driven by cylindrical $α$-stable processes. Meanwhile, we obtain a specific strong convergence rate.
Quantitative estimates for the top Lyapunov exponents for systems of stochastic reaction-diffusion equations are proven. The treatment includes reaction potentials with degenerate minima. The proof relies on an asymptotic expansion of the invariant measure, with careful control on the resulting error terms. As a consequence of these estimates, synchronisation by noise is deduced for systems of stochastic reaction-diffusion equations for the first time.
We prove a modification to the classical maximal inequality for stochastic convolutions in 2-smooth Banach spaces using the factorization method. This permits to study semilinear stochastic partial differential equations with unbounded diffusion operators driven by cylindrical Brownian motion via the mild solution approach. In the case of finite dimensional driving noise, provided sufficient regularity on the coefficients, we establish existence and uniqueness of strong solutions.
In the present work, we establish the approximation of nonlinear stochastic partial differential equation (SPDE) driven by cylindrical α-stable Lévy processes via modulation or amplitude equations. We study SPDEs with a cubic nonlinearity, where the deterministic equation is close to a change of stability of the trivial solution. The natural separation of time-scales close to this bifurcation allows us to obtain an amplitude equation describing the essential dynamics of the bifurcating pattern, thus reducing the original infinite dimensional dynamics to a simpler finite-dimensional effective d…
This paper introduces SPDE bridges with observation noise and contains an analysis of their spatially semidiscrete approximations. The SPDEs are considered in the form of mild solutions in an abstract Hilbert space framework suitable for parabolic equations. They are assumed to be linear with additive noise in the form of a cylindrical Wiener process. The observational noise is also cylindrical and SPDE bridges are formulated via conditional distributions of Gaussian random variables in Hilbert spaces. A general framework for the spatial discretization of these bridge processes is introduced. …
A numerical analysis for the fully discrete approximation of an operator Lyapunov equation related to linear SPDEs (stochastic partial differential equations) driven by multiplicative noise is considered. The discretization of the Lyapunov equation in space is given by finite elements and in time by a semiimplicit Euler scheme. The main result is the derivation of the rate of convergence in operator norm. Moreover, it is shown that the solution of the equation provides a representation of a quadratic and path dependent functional of the SPDE solution. This fact yields a deterministic numerical…
In this article, we consider the nonlinear stochastic partial differential equation of fractional order in both space and time variables with constant initial condition: \begin{equation*} \left(\partial^β_t+\dfracν{2}\left(-Δ\right)^{α/ 2}\right) u(t, x)= ~ I_{t}^γ\left[λu(t, x) \dot{W}(t, x)\right] \quad t>0,~ x\in\mathbb R^d, \end{equation*} where $\dot{W}$ is space-time white noise, $α>0$, $β\in(0,2]$, $γ\ge 0$, $λ\neq0$ and $ν>0$. The existence and uniqueness of solution in the Itô-Skorohod sense is obtained under Dalang's condition. We obtain explicit formulas for both the second moment a…
We show uniqueness in law for the critical SPDE $$ dX_t = AX_t dt + (-A)^{1/2}F(X(t))dt + dW_t,\;\; X_0 =x \in H, $$ where $A$ $ : dom(A) \subset H \to H$ is a negative definite self-adjoint operator on a separable Hilbert space $H$ having $A^{-1}$ of trace class and $W$ is a cylindrical Wiener process on $H$. Here $F: H \to H $ can be continuous with at most linear growth (some functions $F$ which grow more than linearly can also be considered). This leads to new uniqueness results for generalized stochastic Burgers' equations and for three-dimensional stochastic Cahn-Hilliard type equations …
We show uniqueness in law for the critical SPDE \begin{eqnarray} \label{qq1} dX_t = AX_t dt + (-A)^{1/2}F(X(t))dt + dW_t,\;\; X_0 =x \in H, \end{eqnarray} where $A$ $ : \text{dom}(A) \subset H \to H$ is a negative definite self-adjoint operator on a separable Hilbert space $H$ having $A^{-1}$ of trace class and $W$ is a cylindrical Wiener process on $H$. Here $F: H \to H $ can be locally Hölder continuous with at most linear growth (some functions $F$ which grow more than linearly can also be considered). This leads to new uniqueness results for generalized stochastic Burgers equations and for…
In this article, we consider the following class of stochastic partial differential equations (SPDE): \begin{equation*} \left\{\begin{aligned}\mathrm{d} \mathbf{X}(t)&=\mathrm{A}(t,\mathbf{X}(t))\mathrm{d} t+\mathrm{B}(t,\mathbf{X}(t))\mathrm{d}\mathrm{W}(t)+\int_{\mathrm{Z}}γ(t,\mathbf{X}(t-),z)\widetildeπ(\mathrm{d} t,\mathrm{d} z),\; t\in[0,T],\\ \mathbf{X}(0)&=\boldsymbol{x} \in \mathbb{H},\end{aligned} \right.\end{equation*} with fully locally monotone coefficients in a Gelfand triplet $\mathbb{V}\subset \mathbb{H}\subset\mathbb{V}^*$, where the mappings \begin{align*} \mathrm{A}:[0,T]\ti…
We prove a new Burkholder-Rosenthal type inequality for discrete-time processes taking values in a 2-smooth Banach space. As a first application we prove that if $(S(t,s))_{0\leq s\leq T}$ is a $C_0$-evolution family of contractions on a $2$-smooth Banach space $X$ and $(W_t)_{t\in [0,T]}$ is a cylindrical Brownian motion on a probability space $(Ω,P)$, then for every $0<p<\infty$ there exists a constant $C_{p,X}$ such that for all progressively measurable processes $g: [0,T]\times Ω\to X$ the process $(\int_0^t S(t,s)g_sdW_s)_{t\in [0,T]}$ has a continuous modification and $$E\sup_{t\in [0,T]…
