Using the closure operator that defines a subtractive ideal of a semiring $S$, in this note we introduce a topology on the set of all ideals of $S$ induced by that operator. We show that the corresponding subtractive space is $T_0$ and every nonempty irreducible closed set has a unique generic point, whereas the restricted subspace of subtractive ideals is $T_1$. Using a semiring homomorphism, we obtain a continuous map between the corresponding subtractive spaces.
In this paper, we introduce homological structure theory of semirings and CP-semirings---semirings all of whose cyclic semimodules are projective. We completely describe semisimple, Gelfand, subtractive, and anti-bounded, CP-semirings. We give complete characterizations of congruence-simple subtractive and congruence-simple anti-bounded CP-semirings, which solve two earlier open problems for these classes of semirings. We also study in detail the properties of semimodules over Boolean algebras whose endomorphism semirings are CP-semirings; and, as a consequence of this result, we give a comple…
In this paper, we introduce and study V- and CI-semirings---semirings all of whose simple and cyclic, respectively, semimodules are injective. We describe V-semirings for some classes of semirings and establish some fundamental properties of V-semirings. We show that all Jacobson-semisimple V-semirings are V-rings. We also completely describe the bounded distributive lattices, Gelfand, subtractive, semisimple, and anti-bounded, semirings that are CI-semirings. Applying these results, we give complete characterizations of congruence-simple subtractive and congruence-simple anti-bounded CI-semir…

In this paper, we investigate 2-absorbing ideals of commutative semirings and prove that if $\mathfrak{a}$ is a nonzero proper ideal of a subtractive valuation semiring $S$ then $\mathfrak{a}$ is a 2-absorbing ideal of $S$ if and only if $\mathfrak{a}=\mathfrak{p}$ or $\mathfrak{a}=\mathfrak{p}^2$ where $\mathfrak{p}=\sqrt\mathfrak{a}$ is a prime ideal of $S$. We also show that each 2-absorbing ideal of a subtractive semiring $S$ is prime if and only if the prime ideals of $S$ are comparable and if $\mathfrak{p}$ is a minimal prime over a 2-absorbing ideal $\mathfrak{a}$, then $\mathfrak{am} =…
We investigate ideal-semisimple and congruence-semisimple semirings. We give several new characterizations of such semirings using e-projective and e-injective semimodules. We extend several characterizations of semisimple rings to (not necessarily subtractive) commutative semirings.
We define Dedekind semidomains as semirings in which each nonzero fractional ideal is invertible. Then we find some equivalent condition for semirings to being Dedekind. For example, we prove that a Noetherian semidomain is Dedekind if and only if it is multiplication. Then we show that a subtractive Noetherian semidomain is Dedekind if and only if it is a $π$-semiring and each of it nonzero prime ideal is invertible. We also show that the maximum number of the generators of each ideal of a subtractive Dedekind semidomain is 2.
The main scope of this paper is to introduce valuation semirings in general and discrete valuation semirings in particular. In order to do that, first we define valuation maps and investigate them. Then we define valuation semirings with the help of valuation maps and prove that a multiplicatively cancellative semiring is a valuation semiring if and only if its ideals are totally ordered by inclusion. We also prove that if the unique maximal ideal of a valuation semiring is subtractive, then it is integrally closed. We end this paper by introducing discrete valuation semirings and show that a …
Spectral spaces, introduced by Hochster, are topological spaces homeomorphic to the prime spectra of commutative rings. In this paper we study spectral spaces in perspective of idempotent semirings which are algebraic structures receiving a lot of attention due to its several applications to tropical geometry. We first prove that a space is spectral if and only if it is the \emph{prime $k$-spectrum} of an idempotent semiring. In fact, we enrich Hochster's theorem by constructing a subcategory of idempotent semirings which is antiequivalent to the category of spectral spaces. We further provide…
We show that, if S is a finite semiring, then the free profinite S-semimodule on a Boolean Stone space X is isomorphic to the algebra of all S-valued measures on X, which are finitely additive maps from the Boolean algebra of clopens of X to S. These algebras naturally appear in the logic approach to formal languages as well as in idempotent analysis. Whenever S is a (pro)finite idempotent semiring, the S-valued measures are all given uniquely by continuous density functions. This generalises the classical representation of the Vietoris hyperspace of a Boolean Stone space in terms of continuou…
Spectrum constructions appear throughout mathematics as a way of constructing topological spaces from algebraic data. Given a commutative localic semiring R (the pointfree analogue of a topological semiring), we define a spectrum of R which generalises the Stone spectrum of a distributive lattice, the Zariski spectrum of a commutative ring, the Gelfand spectrum of a commutative unital C*-algebra and the Hofmann-Lawson spectrum of a continuous frame. We then provide an explicit construction of this spectrum under conditions on R which are satisfied by our main examples. Our results are construc…
