有限温度下的p-body SYK模型表现出次最大混沌,并包含对偶JT引力的类弦修正。它可以在两个不同的极限下精确求解:“large p” SYK(1 ≪ p ≪ N)和“double-scaled” SYK(N, p → ∞,且λ = 2p²/N固定)。

The p-body SYK model at finite temperature exhibits submaximal chaos and contains stringy-like corrections to the dual JT gravity. It can be solved exactly in two different limits: "large p" SYK $1 \ll p \ll N$ and "double-scaled" SYK $N,p \to \infty$ with $λ= 2 p^2/N$ fixed. We clarify the relation between the two. Starting from the exact results in the double-scaled limit, we derive several observables in the large p limit. We compute euclidean $2n$-point correlators and out-of-time-order four-point function at long lorentzian times. To compute the correlators we find the relevant asymptototics of the $U_{q}(su(1,1))$ 6j-symbol.
We study the double-scaling limit of SYK (DS-SYK) model and elucidate the underlying quantum group symmetry. The DS-SYK model is characterized by a parameter $q$, and in the $q\rightarrow 1$ and low-energy limit it goes over to the familiar Schwarzian theory. We relate the chord and transfer-matrix picture to the motion of a ``boundary particle" on the Euclidean Poincar{é} disk, which underlies the single-sided Schwarzian model. $AdS_2$ carries an action of $\mathfrak{s}\mathfrak{l}(2,{\mathbb R}) \simeq \mathfrak{s}\mathfrak{u}(1,1)$, and we argue that the symmetry of the full DS-SYK model is…

We solve for the exact energy spectrum, 2-point and 4-point functions of the complex SYK model, in the double scaling limit at all energy scales. This model has a $U(1)$ global symmetry. The analysis shows how to incorporate a chemical potential in the chord diagram picture, and we present results for the various observables also at a given fixed charge sector. In addition to matching to the spectral asymmetry, we consider an analogous asymmetry measure of the 2-point function obeying a non-trivial dependence on the operator's dimension. We also provide the chord diagram structure for an SYK-l…
We consider a supersymmetric SYK-like model without quenched disorder that is built by coupling two kinds of fermionic N=1 tensor-valued superfields, "quarks" and "mesons". We prove that the model has a well-defined large-N limit in which the (s)quark 2-point functions are dominated by mesonic "melon" diagrams. We sum these diagrams to obtain the Schwinger-Dyson equations and show that in the IR, the solution agrees with that of the supersymmetric SYK model.
We compute the exact density of states and 2-point function of the $\mathcal{N} =2$ super-symmetric SYK model in the large $N$ double-scaled limit, by using combinatorial tools that relate the moments of the distribution to sums over oriented chord diagrams. In particular we show how SUSY is realized on the (highly degenerate) Hilbert space of chords. We further calculate analytically the number of ground states of the model in each charge sector at finite $N$, and compare it to the results from the double-scaled limit. Our results reduce to the super-Schwarzian action in the low energy short …
We compute the exact, all energy scale, 4-point function of the large $N$ double-scaled SYK model, by using only combinatorial tools and relating the correlation functions to sums over chord diagrams. We apply the result to obtain corrections to the maximal Lyapunov exponent at low temperatures. We present the rules for the non-perturbative diagrammatic description of correlation functions of the entire model. The latter indicate that the model can be solved by a reduction of a quantum deformation of SL$(2)$, that generalizes the Schwarzian to the complete range of energies.
In the present work we discuss aspects of the 1/N expansion in the SYK model, formulated in terms of the semiclassical expansion of the bilocal field path integral. We derive cutting rules, which are applicable for all planar vertices in the bilocal field diagrams. We show that these cutting rules lead to novel identities on higher-point correlators, which could be used to constrain their form beyond the solvable conformal limit. We also demonstrate how the cutting rules can simplify the computation of amplitudes on an example of the six-point function.
The exact 2-point function of certain physically motivated operators in SYK-like spin glass models is computed, bypassing the Schwinger-Dyson equations. The models possess an IR low energy conformal window, but our results are exact at all time scales. The main tool developed is a new approach to the combinatorics of chord diagrams, allowing to rewrite the spin glass system using an auxiliary Hilbert space, and Hamiltonian, built on the space of open chord diagrams. We argue the latter can be interpreted as the bulk description and that it reduces to the Schwarzian action in the low energy lim…
Large $N$ melonic theories are characterized by two-point function Feynman diagrams built exclusively out of melons. This leads to conformal invariance at strong coupling, four-point function diagrams that are exclusively ladders, and higher-point functions that are built out of four-point functions joined together. We uncover an incredibly useful property of these theories: the six-point function, or equivalently, the three-point function of the primary $O(N)$ invariant bilinears, regarded as an analytic function of the operator dimensions, fully determines all correlation functions, to leadi…
The Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev (SYK) model is a model of $q$ interacting fermions. Gross and Rosenhaus have proposed a generalization of the SYK model which involves fermions with different flavors. In terms of Feynman graphs, those flavors are reminiscent of the colors used in random tensor theory. This gives us the opportunity to apply some modern, yet elementary, tools developed in the context of random tensors to one particular instance of such colored SYK models. We illustrate our method by identifying all diagrams which contribute to the leading and next-to-leading orders of the 2-point and 4-poi…
Certain models with rank-$3$ tensor degrees of freedom have been shown by Gurau and collaborators to possess a novel large $N$ limit, where $g^2 N^3$ is held fixed. In this limit the perturbative expansion in the quartic coupling constant, $g$, is dominated by a special class of "melon" diagrams. We study "uncolored" models of this type, which contain a single copy of real rank-$3$ tensor. Its three indexes are distinguishable; therefore, the models possess $O(N)^3$ symmetry with the tensor field transforming in the tri-fundamental representation. Such uncolored models also possess the large $…
A crucial result on the celebrated Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev model is that its large $N$ limit is dominated by melonic graphs. In this letter we offer a rigorous, diagrammatic proof of that result by direct, combinatorial analysis of its Feynman graphs.
We study correlation functions in the one-dimensional $\mathcal{N}=2$ supersymmetric SYK model. The leading order 4-point correlation functions are computed by summing over ladder diagrams expanded in a suitable basis of conformal eigenfunctions. A novelty of the $\mathcal{N}=2$ model is that both symmetric and antisymmetric eigenfunctions are required. Although we use a component formalism, we verify that the operator spectrum and 4-point functions are consistent with $\mathcal{N}=2$ supersymmetry. We also confirm the maximally chaotic behavior of this model and comment briefly on its 6-point…
We study the $6j$ symbol for the conformal group, and its appearance in three seemingly unrelated contexts: the SYK model, conformal representation theory, and perturbative amplitudes in AdS. The contribution of the planar Feynman diagrams to the three-point function of the bilinear singlets in SYK is shown to be a $6j$ symbol. We generalize the computation of these and other Feynman diagrams to $d$ dimensions. The $6j$ symbol can be viewed as the crossing kernel for conformal partial waves, which may be computed using the Lorentzian inversion formula. We provide closed-form expressions for $6…
We compute the phase diagram of a $\text{U}(N)^{2}\times\text{O}(D)$ invariant fermionic planar matrix quantum mechanics [equivalently tensor or complex Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev (SYK) models] in the new large $D$ limit, dominated by melonic graphs. The Schwinger-Dyson equations can have two solutions describing either a high entropy, SYK black-hole-like phase, or a low entropy one with trivial IR behavior. In the strongly coupled region of the mass-temperature plane, there is a line of first order phase transitions between the high and low entropy phases. This line terminates at a new critical point …
In this article we study an asymptotic expansion for $C_n$, the number of connected chord diagrams on $n$ chords. The expansion is obtained in earlier work by means of alien derivatives applied to the generating series of connected chord diagrams; we seek a combinatorial interpretation. The main outcome presented here is a new combinatorial interpretation for entry https://oeis.org/A088221 of the OEIS. We will show that https://oeis.org/A088221 counts pairs of connected chord diagrams (allowing empty diagrams). This gives a combinatorial interpretation for the part of the closed form of the as…
The combinatorics of the BPHZ subtraction scheme for a class of ladder graphs for the three point vertex in $ϕ^3$ theory is transcribed into certain connectivity relations for marked chord diagrams (knots with transversal intersections). The resolution of the singular crossings using the equivalence relations in these examples provides confirmation of a proposed fundamental relationship between knot theory and renormalization in perturbative quantum field theory.
We analytically evaluate the moments of the spectral density of the $q$-body Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev (SYK) model, and obtain order $1/N^2$ corrections for all moments, where $N$ is the total number of Majorana fermions. To order $1/N$, moments are given by those of the weight function of the Q-Hermite polynomials. Representing Wick contractions by rooted chord diagrams, we show that the $1/N^2$ correction for each chord diagram is proportional to the number of triangular loops of the corresponding intersection graph, with an extra grading factor when $q$ is odd. Therefore the problem of finding $1/N…

We study the thermodynamic properties of a two-site coupled complex Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev (SYK) model in the large $N$ limit by solving the saddle-point Schwinger-Dyson (SD) equations. We find that its phase diagram is richer than in the Majorana case. In the grand canonical ensemble, we identify a region of small chemical potential, and weak coupling between the two SYKs, for which two first order thermodynamic phase transitions occur as a function of temperature. First, we observe a transition from a cold wormhole phase to an intermediate phase that may correspond to a charged wormhole. For a hi…
In this paper we consider the enumeration of orientable and non-orientable chord diagrams. We show that this enumeration is encoded in appropriate expectation values of the $β$-deformed Gaussian and RNA matrix models. We evaluate these expectation values by means of the $β$-deformed topological recursion, and - independently - using properties of quantum curves. We show that both these methods provide efficient and systematic algorithms for counting of chord diagrams with a given genus, number of backbones and number of chords.
Chord diagrams and combinatorics of word algebras are used to model products of Dirac matrices, their traces, and contractions. A simple formula for the result of arbitrary contractions is derived, simplifying and extending an old contraction algorithm due to Kahane. This formula is then used to express the Schwinger parametric integrand of a QED Feynman integral in a much simplified form, with the entire internal tensor structure eliminated. Possible next steps for further simplification, including a specific conjecture, are discussed.
We study quantum mechanical models in which the dynamical degrees of freedom are real fermionic tensors of rank five and higher. They are the non-random counterparts of the Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev (SYK) models where the Hamiltonian couples six or more fermions. For the tensors of rank five, there is a unique $O(N)^5$ symmetric sixth-order Hamiltonian leading to a solvable large $N$ limit dominated by the melonic diagrams. We solve for the complete energy spectrum of this model when $N=2$ and deduce exact expressions for all the eigenvalues. The subset of states which are gauge invariant exhibit dege…
