Perfect tensors describe highly entangled quantum states that have attracted particular attention in the fields of quantum information theory and quantum gravity. In loop quantum gravity, the natural question arises whether SU(2) invariant tensors, which are fundamental ingredients of the basis states of spacetime, can also be perfect. In this work, we present a number of general constraints for the layout of such invariant perfect tensors (IPTs) and further describe a systematic and constructive approach to check the existence of an IPT of given valence. We apply our algorithm to show that no qubit encoding of valence 6 can be described by an IPT and close a gap to prove a no-go theorem for invariant perfect qubit encodings. We also provide two alternative proofs for the non-existence of 4-valent qubit IPTs which has been shown in [1,2].
It is expected that quantum wires (q-wires), will be required to transport quantum information within many quantum computer implementations. Here we describe a new design for a q-wire with perfect transmission using a uniformly coupled Ising spin chain subject to global (homogeneously-applied) pulses. Besides allowing for perfect transport of single qubits, the design also yields the perfect ``mirroring'' of multiply encoded qubits within the wire. We further utilise this global-pulse generated perfect mirror operation as a ``clock cycle'' to perform universal quantum computation on these mult…
Recently, Agrawal and Pati [Phys. Rev. A 74, 062320 (2006)] have given a class of W-states that can be used for perfect teleportation. Here, two canonical forms of perfect quantum channel are presented by transformation operator and the GHZ state and the W state are special case of those two canonical forms of perfect quantum channel. Furthermore, the orthogonal complete measurement bases are given.
By using some techniques such as spectral distribution and stratification associated with the graphs, employed in [1,2] for the purpose of Perfect state transfer (PST) of a single qubit over antipodes of distance-regular spin networks and PST of a $d$-level quantum state over antipodes of pseudo-distance regular networks, PST of an m-qubit GHZ state is investigated. To do so, we employ the particular distance-regular networks (called Johnson networks) J(2m,m) to transfer an m-qubit GHZ state initially prepared in an arbitrary node of the network (called the reference node) to the corresponding…
Here we consider perfect entanglers from another perspective. It is shown that there are some {\em special} perfect entanglers which can maximally entangle a {\em full} product basis. We have explicitly constructed a one-parameter family of such entanglers together with the proper product basis that they maximally entangle. This special family of perfect entanglers contains some well-known operators such as {\textsc{cnot}} and {\textsc{dcnot}}, but {\em not} ${\small{\sqrt{\rm{\textsc{swap}}}}}$. In addition, it is shown that all perfect entanglers with entangling power equal to the maximal va…
We propose to use ferromagnetic systems for entanglement generation and distribution together with perfect state transfer between distant parties in a qubit chain. The scheme relies on an effective 2-qubit dynamics, realized by leaving two empty sites in a uniformly filled chain. This allows long-range interacting qubit chains to serve as quantum channels for both tasks with optimal performances. Remarkably, the entanglement between sender and receiver sites is independent of both the transmission distance and of system size. This property opens new perspectives for short and mid-range quantum…
Superconducting quantum circuits, fabricated with multiple layers, are proposed to implement perfect quantum state transfer between nodes of a hypercube network. For tunable devices such as the phase qubit, each node can transmit quantum information to any other node at a constant rate independent of the distance between qubits. The physical limits of quantum state transfer in this network are theoretically analyzed, including the effects of disorder, decoherence, and higher-order couplings.
We explicate an example of the so called Task oriented Maximally Entangled states (TMES) in the context of teleportation and superdense coding. In physical situation, this state can emerge from decoherence of more entangled state or may be prepared for the purpose at hand, with less entanglement resource. We find that a variant of the Brown state can be utilized for perfect teleportation of single and two qubit states. In case of superdense coding, it is observed that five cbits can be transmitted by sending only three qubits.
We propose a new scheme in which perfect transmission of 1-qubit information is achieved with high success using purposefully delayed sharing of non-maximally entangled 2-qubit resource and repeated generalized Bell-state measurements (GBSM). Alice possesses initially all qubits and she makes repeated GBSM on the pair of qubits, consisting of (1) the qubit of information state and (2) one of the two entangled resource qubits (taken alternately) until transmission with perfect fidelity is indicated. Alice then sends to Bob, the qubit not used in the last GBSM and also the result of this GBSM an…
We investigate the usefulness of a recently introduced five qubit state by Brown $\it et al. \normalfont$ \cite{Brown} for quantum teleportation, quantum state sharing and superdense coding. It is shown that this five-qubit state can be utilized for perfect teleportation of arbitrary single and two qubit systems. We devise various schemes for quantum state sharing of an arbitrary single and two particle state via cooperative teleportation. We later show that this state can be used for superdense coding as well. It is found that five classical bits can be sent by sending only three quantum bits…
We propose a class of qubit networks that admit perfect transfer of any quantum state in a fixed period of time. Unlike many other schemes for quantum computation and communication, these networks do not require qubit couplings to be switched on and off. When restricted to N-qubit spin networks of identical qubit couplings, we show that 2 log_3 N is the maximal perfect communication distance for hypercube geometries. Moreover, if one allows fixed but different couplings between the qubits then perfect state transfer can be achieved over arbitrarily long distances in a linear chain.
We develop the work of Christandl et al. [M. Christandl, N. Datta, T. C. Dorlas, A. Ekert, A. Kay, and A. J. Landahl, Phys. Rev. A 71, 032312 (2005)], to show how a d-hypercube homogenous network can be dressed by additional links to perfectly route quantum information between any given input and output nodes in a duration which is independent of the routing chosen and, surprisingly, size of the network.
We derive expressions for the invariant length element and measure for the simple compact Lie group SU(4) in a coordinate system particularly suitable for treating entanglement in quantum information processing. Using this metric, we compute the invariant volume of the space of two-qubit perfect entanglers. We find that this volume corresponds to more than 84% of the total invariant volume of the space of two-qubit gates. This same metric is also used to determine the effective target sizes that selected gates will present in any quantum-control procedure designed to implement them.
An efficient and economical scheme is proposed for the perfect quantum teleportation of n-qubit non-maximally entangled state of generalized Bell-type. A Bell state is used as the quantum channel in the proposed scheme. It is also shown that the controlled teleportation of this n-qubit state can be achieved by using a GHZ state or a GHZ-like state as quantum channel. The proposed schemes are economical because for the perfect and controlled teleportation of n-qubit non-maximally entangled state of generalized Bell-type we only need a Bell state and a tripartite entangled state respectively. It…
The controlled-NOT gate and controlled square-root NOT gate play an important role in quantum algorithm. This article reports the experimental results of these two universal quantum logic gates (controlled square-root NOT gate and controlled-NOT gate) on a 7-qubit NMR quantum computer. Further, we propose a simple experimental method to measure and correct the error in the controlled phase-shift gate, which is helpful to construct a more perfect phase-shift gate experimentally and can also be used in more qubits discrete Fourier transformation.
We propose a scheme for perfect excitation of a single two-level atom by a single photon in free space. The photon state has to match the time reversed photon state originating from spontaneous decay of a two-level system. We discuss its experimental preparation. The state is characterized by a particular asymmetric exponentially-shaped temporal profile. Any deviations from this ideal state limit the maximum absorption. Although perfect excitation requires an infinite amount of time we demonstrate that there is a class of initial one-photon quantum states which can achieve almost perfect absor…
This study examines the possibility of finding perfect entanglers for a Hamiltonian which corresponds to several quantum information platforms of interest at the present time. However, in this study, we use a superconducting circuit that stands out from other quantum-computing devices, especially because Transmon qubits can be coupled via capacitors or microwave cavities, which enable us to combine high coherence, fast gates, and high flexibility in its design parameters. There are currently two factors limiting the performance of superconducting processors: timing mismatch and the limitation …
Large-scale universal quantum computing requires the implementation of quantum error correction (QEC). While the implementation of QEC has already been demonstrated for quantum memories, reliable quantum computing requires also the application of nontrivial logical gate operations to the encoded qubits. Here, we present examples of such operations by implementing, in addition to the identity operation, the NOT and the Hadamard gate to a logical qubit encoded in a five qubit system that allows correction of arbitrary single qubit errors. We perform quantum process tomography of the encoded gate…
Simultaneous measurement of multiple qubits stored in hyperfine levels of trapped 111Cd+ ions is realized with an intensified charge-coupled device (CCD) imager. A general theory of fluorescence detection for hyperfine qubits is presented and applied to experimental data. The use of an imager for photon detection allows for multiple qubit state measurement with detection fidelities of greater than 98%. Improvements in readout speed and fidelity are discussed in the context of scalable quantum computation architectures.
Simpler encoding and decoding networks are necessary for more reliable quantum error correcting codes (QECCs). The simplification of the encoder-decoder circuit for a perfect five-qubit QECC can be derived analytically if the QECC is converted from its equivalent one-way entanglement purification protocol (1-EPP). In this work, the analytical method to simplify the encoder-decoder circuit is introduced and a circuit that is as simple as the existent simplest circuits is presented as an example. The encoder-decoder circuit presented here involves nine single- and two-qubit unitary operations, o…
We show that using a slightly modified XX model for a spin-1/2 chain, one can transmit almost perfectly a maximally entangled two-qubit state from one end of the chain to the other one. This is accomplished without external fields or modulation of the coupling constants among the qubits. We also show that this strategy works for any size of the chain and is relatively robust to imperfections in the coupling constants among the qubits belonging to the chain. Actually, under certain scenarios of small disorder, we obtain better results than those predicted by the optimal ordered and noiseless ca…
We propose a protocol for perfect state transfer between any pair of vertices in a hypercube. Given a pair of distinct vertices in the hypercube we determine a sub-hypercube that contains the pair of vertices as antipodal vertices. Then a switching process is introduced for determining the sub-hypercube of a memory enhanced hypercube that facilitates perfect state transfer between the desired pair of vertices. Furthermore, we propose a physical architecture for the pretty good state transfer implementation of our switching protocol with fidelity arbitrary close to unity, using superconducting …
Motivated by the need for communication of coherent state-based qubits in quantum computers, we introduce a method for perfect transferring of an arbitrary superposition of coherent states between two distant nodes of a linear array of three semiconductor QDs. The QDs trapped in a system of coupled cavities. In this method, the field mode of the cavities, as the resource of transferring of quantum states, are only virtually excited which minimizes the effect of decoherence due to photon loss.
Invariant tensors are states in the SU(2) tensor product representation that are invariant under the SU(2) action. They play an important role in the study of loop quantum gravity. On the other hand, perfect tensors are highly entangled many-body quantum states with local density matrices maximally mixed. Recently, the notion of perfect tensors recently has attracted a lot of attention in the fields of quantum information theory, condensed matter theory, and quantum gravity. In this work, we introduce the concept of an invariant perfect tensor (IPT), which is a $n$-valent tensor that is both i…
In this work we have proposed a scheme for generating $N$ qubit entangled states which can teleport an unknown state perfectly. By switching on the exchange interaction ($J$) between the qubits one can get the desired states periodically. A multi electron quantum dot can be a possible realization for generating such $N$ qubit states with high fidelity. In the limit of $N \to \infty$, there exists a unique time $t=\frac{1}{J}\cos^{-1}(-1/8)$ where the Hamiltonian dynamics gives the $N$ qubit state that can assist perfect teleportation. We have also discussed the effect of the nuclear spin envir…
We propose a protocol for perfect quantum state transfer that is resilient to a broad class of realistic experimental imperfections, including noise sources that could be modelled either as independent Markovian baths or as certain forms of spatially correlated environments. We highlight interesting connections between the fidelity of state transfer and quantum stochastic resonance effects. The scheme is flexible enough to act as an effective entangling gate for the generation of genuine multipartite entanglement in a control-limited setting. Possible experimental implementations using superco…
We propose a procedure for transferring the state a microwave qubit via a transmission line from one resonator to another resonator, with a theoretical efficiency arbitrarily close to 100%. The emission and capture of the microwave energy is performed using tunable couplers, whose transmission coefficients vary in time. Using the superconducting phase qubit technology and tunable couplers with maximum coupling of 100 MHz, the procedure with theoretical efficiency $η=0.999$ requires a duration of about 400 ns (excluding propagation time) and an ON/OFF ratio of 45. The procedure may also be used…
Faithfully transferring the quantum state is essential for quantum information processing. Here we demonstrate a fast (in 84 ns) and high-fidelity (99.2%) transfer of arbitrary quantum states in a chain of four superconducting qubits with nearest-neighbor coupling. This transfer relies on full control of the effective couplings between neighboring qubits, which is realized only by our parametrically modulating the qubits without increasing circuit complexity. Once the couplings between qubits fulfill a specific ratio, perfect quantum state transfer can be achieved in a single step, and is ther…
Quantum feedback control is a technology which can be used to drive a quantum system into a predetermined eigenstate. In this article, sufficient conditions for the experiment parameters of a quantum feedback control process of a homodyne QND measurement are given to guarantee feedback control of a spin-1/2 quantum system in case of imperfect detection efficiency. For the case of pure states and perfect detection efficiency, time scales of feedback control processes are calculated.

We propose a class of qubit networks that admit perfect state transfer of any two-dimensional quantum state in a fixed period of time. We further show that such networks can distribute arbitrary entangled states between two distant parties, and can, by using such systems in parallel, transmit the higher dimensional systems states across the network. Unlike many other schemes for quantum computation and communication, these networks do not require qubit couplings to be switched on and off. When restricted to $N$-qubit spin networks of identical qubit couplings, we show that $2\log_3 N$ is the m…

We find the generating set of SL-invariant polynomials in four qubits that are also invariant under permutations of the qubits. The set consists of four polynomials of degrees 2,6,8, and 12, for which we find an elegant expression in the space of critical states. In addition, we show that the Hyperdeterminant in four qubits is the only SL-invariant polynomial (up to powers of itself) that is non-vanishing precisely on the set of generic states.
We propose a scheme for perfect transfer of an unknown qubit state via the discrete-time quantum walk on a line or a circle. For this purpose, we introduce an additional coin operator which is applied at the end of the walk. This operator does not depend on the state to be transferred. We show that perfect state transfer over an arbitrary distance can be achieved only if the walk is driven by an identity or a flip coin operator. Other biased coin operators and Hadamard coin allow perfect state transfer over finite distances only. Furthermore, we show that quantum walks ending with a perfect st…
We present a quantum error correction code which protects a qubit of information against general one qubit errors which maybe caused by the interaction with the environment. To accomplish this, we encode the original state by distributing quantum information over five qubits, the minimal number required for this task. We give a simple circuit which takes the initial state with four extra qubits in the state |0> to the encoded state. The circuit can be converted into a decoding one by simply running it backward. Reading the extra four qubits at the decoder's output we learn which one of the six…
A $2\otimes 2$ unitary operation is called a perfect entangler if it can generate a maximally entangled state from some unentangled input. We study the following question: How many runs of a given two-qubit entangling unitary operation is required to simulate some perfect entangler with one-qubit unitary operations as free resources? We completely solve this problem by presenting an analytical formula for the optimal number of runs of the entangling operation. Our result reveals an entanglement strength of two-qubit unitary operations.
We show the existence of dynamical purity swapping phenomena in the Jaynes-Cummings model. Moreover we show that purity swapping between a qubit and a generic quantum system is possible, provided they are coupled via non-unitary matrix elements interaction. We particularize to the case of a quantum optical Ramsey interferometer. We show that using purity swapping, a perfect interference pattern can be obtained at the output port of the interferometer even if we start from totally unpolarized sources. This feature is shown to be associated with the phenomena of recreation of the state vector at…
We investigate how entanglement can be perfectly transfered between continuous variable and qubits system. We find that a two-mode squeezed vacuum state can be converted to the product state of an infinitive number of two-qubit states while keeping the entanglement. The reverse process is also possible. The interaction Hamitonian is a kind of non-linear Jaynes-Cumings Hamiltonian.
We show a perfect state transfer of an arbitrary unknown two-qubit state can be achieved via a discrete-time quantum walk with various settings of coin flippings, and extend this method to distribution of an arbitrary unknown multi-qubit entangled state between every pair of sites in the multi-dimensional network. Furthermore, we study the routing of quantum information on this network in a quantum walk architecture, which can be used as quantum information processors to communicate between separated qubits.
Any n-qubit state with n independent perfect correlations is equivalent to a graph state. We present the optimal Bell inequalities for perfect correlations and maximal violation for all classes of graph states with n < 7 qubits. Twelve of them were previously unknown and four give the same violation as the Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger state, although the corresponding states are more resistant to decoherence.
We present a communication protocol for chains of permanently coupled qubits which achieves perfect quantum state transfer and which is efficient with respect to the number chains employed in the scheme. The system consists of $M$ uncoupled identical quantum chains. Local control (gates, measurements) is only allowed at the sending/receiving end of the chains. Under a quite general hypothesis on the interaction Hamiltonian of the qubits a theorem is proved which shows that the receiver is able to asymptotically recover the messages by repetitive monitoring of his qubits.

Some of the asymmetric three qubit $W$ states are used for perfect teleportation, superdense coding and quantum information splitting. We present the protocols for the optimal distillation of the asymmetric as well as the symmetric $W$ states from a single copy of any three qubit $W$ class pure state.
The geometry of four-qubit entanglement is investigated. We replace some of the polynomial invariants for four-qubits introduced recently by new ones of direct geometrical meaning. It is shown that these invariants describe four points, six lines and four planes in complex projective space ${\bf CP}^3$. For the generic entanglement class of stochastic local operations and classical communication they take a very simple form related to the elementary symmetric polynomials in four complex variables. Moreover, their magnitudes are entanglement monotones that fit nicely into the geometric set of $…
We relate the U-duality invariants characterizing two-center extremal black hole solutions in the stu, st^2 and t^3 models of N=2, d=4 supergravity to the basic invariants used to characterize entanglement classes of four-qubit systems. For the elementary example of a D0D4-D2D6 composite in the t^3 model we illustrate how these entanglement invariants are related to some of the physical properties of the two-center solution. Next we show that it is possible to associate elliptic curves to charge configurations of two-center composites. The hyperdeterminant of the hypercube, a four-qubit polyno…
We give a fermionic Fock space description of embedded entangled qubits. Within this framework the problem of classification of pure state entanglement boils down to the problem of classifying spinors. The usual notion of separable states turns out to be just a special case of the one of pure spinors. By using the notion of single, double and mixed occupancy representation with intertwiners relating them a natural physical interpretation of embedded qubits is found. As an application of these ideas one can make a physically sound meaning of some of the direct sum structures showing up in the c…
We show a simple relation connecting entangling power and local invariants of two-qubit gates. From the relation, a general condition under which gates have same entangling power is arrived. The relation also helps in finding the lower bound of entangling power for perfect entanglers, from which the classification of gates as perfect and nonperfect entanglers is obtained in terms of local invariants.
In this Brief Report we show the relation between three-qubit entanglement invariants and two-qubit concurrence with the help of projective measurements. How to use these invariants to represent the entanglement property of three-qubit pure states is also investigated.
The transfer of data is a fundamental task in information systems. Microprocessors contain dedicated data buses that transmit bits across different locations and implement sophisticated routing protocols. Transferring quantum information with high fidelity is a challenging task, due to the intrinsic fragility of quantum states. We report on the implementation of the perfect state transfer protocol applied to a photonic qubit entangled with another qubit at a different location. On a single device we perform three routing procedures on entangled states with an average fidelity of 97.1%. Our pro…
An efficient coding circuit is given for the perfect quantum error correction of a single qubit against arbitrary 1-qubit errors within a 5 qubit code. The circuit presented employs a double `classical' code, i.e., one for bit flips and one for phase shifts. An implementation of this coding circuit on an ion-trap quantum computer is described that requires 26 laser pulses. A further circuit is presented requiring only 24 laser pulses, making it an efficient protection scheme against arbitrary 1-qubit errors. In addition, the performance of two error correction schemes, one based on the quantum…
The difficulty of an optimization task in quantum information science depends on the proper mathematical expression of the physical target. Here we demonstrate the power of optimization functionals targeting an arbitrary perfect two-qubit entangler, creating a maximally-entangled state out of some initial product state. For two quantum information platforms of current interest, nitrogen vacancy centers in diamond and superconducting Josephson junctions, we show that an arbitrary perfect entangler can be reached faster and with higher fidelity than specific two-qubit gates or local equivalence …
Given L-qubit states with the fixed spectra of reduced one-qubit density matrices, we find a formula for the minimal number of invariant polynomials needed for solving local unitary (LU) equivalence problem, that is, problem of deciding if two states can be connected by local unitary operations. Interestingly, this number is not the same for every collection of the spectra. Some spectra require less polynomials to solve LU equivalence problem than others. The result is obtained using geometric methods, i.e. by calculating the dimensions of reduced spaces, stemming from the symplectic reduction…
Entangling properties of a mixed 2-qubit system can be described by the local homogeneous unitary invariant polynomials in elements of the density matrix. The structure of the corresponding invariant polynomial ring for the special subclass of states, the so-called mixed X-states, is established. It is shown that for the X-states there is an injective ring homomorphism of the quotient ring of SU(2)xSU(2) invariant polynomials modulo its syzygy ideal and the SO(2)xSO(2)-invariant ring freely generated by five homogeneous polynomials of degrees 1,1,1,2,2.
We show there are at least 28 distinct true SLOCC entanglement classes for four-qubits by means of SLOCC invariant and semi-invariants and derive the number of the degenerated SLOCC classes for n-qubits.
