In the present work we consider models of quantum droplets in the presence of a defect in the form of a laser beam moving through the respective condensates including the Lee-Huang-Yang correction. Our analysis features separately an exploration of the existence, stability, bifurcations and dynamics in 1D, 2D and 3D settings. In the absence of an analytical solution of the problem, we provide an analysis of the speed of sound and observe how the states traveling with the defect may feature a saddle-center bifurcation as the speed or the strength of the defect is modified. Relevant bifurcation diagrams are constructed systematically, and the unstable states, as well as the dynamics past the existence of stable states is monitored. The connection of the resulting states with dark solitonic patterns in 1D, vortical states in 2D and vortex rings in 3D is accordingly elucidated.
We theoretically analyze quasi-one-dimensional Bose-Einstein condensates under the influence of a harmonic trap and a narrow potential defect that moves through the atomic cloud. Performing simulations on the mean field level, we explore a robust mechanism in which a single dark soliton is nucleated and immediately pinned by the moving defect, making it possible to drag it to a desired position and release it there. We argue on a perturbative level that a defect potential which is attractive to the atoms is suitable for holding and moving dark solitons. The soliton generation protocol is inves…
We study an impurity immersed in the mixture of Bose ultracold gases in the regime where a quantum droplet exists. The quasi-one-dimensional geometry is considered. We find an effective attractive potential that acts by the quantum droplet onto the impurity. The bound states of the impurity in this potential are investigated. These impurity bound states can provide potential probes for the presence of quantum fluctuations effects on the droplet properties. In the case of strong impurity-BEC coupling, we study the properties of the nonlinear local modes on the impurity induced by the quantum fl…
Attractive Bose-Einstein condensates can host two types of macroscopic self-bound states of different nature: bright solitons and quantum liquid droplets. Here, we investigate the connection between them with a Bose-Bose mixture confined in an optical waveguide. We develop a simple theoretical model to show that, depending on atom number and interaction strength, solitons and droplets can be smoothly connected or remain distinct states coexisting only in a bi-stable region. We experimentally measure their spin composition, extract their density for a broad range of parameters and map out the b…
The properties of 3D Bose-Einstein condensate have been studied with variational and numerical methods. In the variational approach, we use the super-Gaussian trial function, and it is demonstrated that this trial function gives a good approach for the descriptions of the quantum droplets. The analytical equations for the variational parameters are obtained. The frequency of small oscillations of quantum droplets near the equilibrium position is estimated. It is also found that periodic modulation of the coupling constants leads to the resonance oscillations of the quantum droplets parameters …

Quantum droplets are ultradilute liquid states which emerge from the competitive interplay of two Hamiltonian terms, the mean-field energy and beyond-mean-field correction, in a weakly interacting binary Bose gas. We relate the formation of droplets in symmetric and asymmetric two-component one-dimensional boson systems to the modulational instability of a spatially uniform state driven by the beyond-mean-field term. Asymmetry between the components may be caused by their unequal populations or unequal intra-component interaction strengths. Stability of both symmetric and asymmetric droplets i…
Ultracold dipolar droplets have been realized in a series of ground-breaking experiments, where the stability of the droplet state is attributed to beyond-mean-field effects in the form of the celebrated Lee-Huang-Yang (LHY) correction. We scrutinize the dipolar droplet states in a one-dimensional context using a combination of analytical and numerical approaches, and identify experimentally viable parameters for accessing our findings for future experiments. In particular we identify regimes of stability in the restricted geometry, finding multiple roton instabilities as well as regions suppo…
Modulational instability of a uniform two-dimensional binary Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) in the presence of quantum fluctuations is studied. The analysis is based on the coupled Gross-Pitaevskii equations. It is shown that quantum fluctuations can induce instability when the BEC density is below a threshold. The dependence of the growth rate of modulations on the BEC parameters is found. It is observed that an asymmetry of the interaction parameters and/or initial densities of the components typically decreases the growth rate. Further development of the instability results in a break-up of…

When two Bose-Einstein condensates -- labelled 1 and 2 -- overlap spatially, the equilibrium state of the system depends on the miscibility criterion for the two fluids. Here, we theoretically focus on the non-miscible regime in two spatial dimensions and explore the properties of the localized wave packet formed by the minority component 2 when immersed in an infinite bath formed by component 1. We address the zero-temperature regime and describe the two-fluid system by coupled classical field equations. We show that such a wave packet exists only for an atom number $N_2$ above a threshold va…
The existence and stability of domain walls (DWs) and bubble-droplet (BD) states in binary mixtures of quasi-one-dimensional ultracold Bose gases with inter- and intra-species repulsive interactions is considered. Previously, DWs were studied by means of coupled systems of Gross-Pitaevskii equations (GPEs) with cubic terms, which model immiscible binary Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs). We address immiscible BECs with two- and three-body repulsive interactions, as well as binary Tonks--Girardeau (TG) gases, using systems of GPEs with cubic and quintic nonlinearities for the binary BEC, and cou…
We investigate the quench dynamics of quasi-one and two dimensional dipolar Bose-Einstein condensates (dBEC) of $^{164}$Dy atoms under the influence of a fast rotating magnetic field. The magnetic field thus controls both the magnitude and sign of the dipolar potential. We account for quantum fluctuations, critical to formation of exotic quantum droplet and supersolid phases in the extended Gross-Pitaevskii formalism, which includes the so-called Lee-Huang-Yang (LHY) correction. An analytical variational ansatz allows us to obtain the phase diagrams of the superfluid and droplet phases. The cr…
