In a recent paper by Xiu-Li Gao, Zhi-Hui Guo, Zhiguang Xiao, and Zhi-Yong Zhou, Phys. Rev. D 105, 094002 (2022), here referred to as I, $S$-wave $ππ$ scattering phase shifts obtained in a lattice-QCD calculation are analyzed using dispersive $S$-matrix methods. We question the reliability of the conclusion from this analysis that, for a pion mass of 391 MeV, the lattice phases favor the presence of both a $σ$-meson bound state and a nearby virtual state. Our main criticism concerns the neglect of the $S$-wave $K\bar{K}$ channel, which was considered alongside additional $s\bar{s}$ interpolating fields in the lattice computation used by the authors of I and also in typical coupled-channel models. As an illustration, some results from such a recent model are presented as well. Concluding remarks concern possible improvements of the analysis in I as well as further model tests.
We reply to the comment [arxiv:2202.08809] by E. van Beveren and G. Rupp on our recent work [arxiv:2202.03124], by further clarifying the difference between the two approaches. We emphasize that the left-hand cuts and constraints of crossing symmetry play an important role in reliably extracting the poles' information below the $ππ$ threshold.
In this paper, the $IJ=00, 11, 20$ partial wave $ππ$ scattering phase shifts determined by the lattice QCD approach are analyzed by using a novel dispersive solution of the S-matrix, i.e. the PKU representation, in which the unitarity and analyticity of scattering amplitudes are automatically satisfied and the phase shifts are conveniently decomposed into the contributions of the cuts and various poles, including bound states, virtual states and resonances. The contribution of the left-hand cut is estimated by the $SU(2)$ chiral perturbation theory to $\mathcal{O}(p^4)$. The Balanchandran-Nuyt…
This short technical note addresses a number of issues regarding the estimates of the 2004 paper by Ericson, Loiseau, and Wycech for the corrections $δ_ε$ and $δ_Γ$, which aim at the removal of the effects of electromagnetic origin from the measurements of the strong-interaction shift $ε_{1s}$ and of the total decay width $Γ_{1s}$ of the ground state in pionic hydrogen.
Within a chiral quark model, we evaluate the good cross section in the Euclidean space in the vector - axial vector channel, proposed recently by Ma and Qiu as means to extract the so far elusive parton distribution functions of the pion from lattice QCD. Our results are remarkably simple at the quark model scale and agree well, after the necessary QCD evolution, with with the most recent lattice calculations at the scale $μ\sim 2$ GeV for various values of the lattice pion mass. Comparisons are made as functions of the Ioffe time variable. We also comment on the information on the lowest mome…

We report on our progress in studying exotic, heavy tetraquark states, $qq\prime \bar Q\bar Q\prime$. Using publicly available dynamical $n_f =2+1$ Wilson-Clover gauge configurations, generated by the PACS-CS collaboration, with pion masses $\simeq$164, 299 and 415 MeV, we extend our previous analysis to heavy quark components containing heavier than physical bottom quarks $\bar Q\bar Q\prime=\bar b\prime\bar b\prime$ or $\bar Q\bar Q\prime=\bar b\bar b\prime$, charm and bottom quarks $\bar c\bar b$ and also only charm quarks $\bar c\bar c$. Throughout we employ NRQCD and relativistic heavy qu…
Lattice QCD already offers the possibility of extracting three-hadron scattering quantities from first principles. In the last few years, significant progress has been achieved in developing and applying the finite-volume three-body formalism. The formalism is now able to treat physically relevant systems of three mesons, including those with resonances, as well as three-body decays. In this talk, I will review the state of the art, and comment on recent applications to lattice QCD data for systems of three pions and kaons.
There are emerging tensions for theory results of the hadronic vacuum polarization contribution to the muon anomalous magnetic moment both within recent lattice QCD calculations and between some lattice QCD calculations and R-ratio results. In this paper we work towards scrutinizing critical aspects of these calculations. We focus in particular on a precise calculation of Euclidean position-space windows defined by RBC/UKQCD that are ideal quantities for cross-checks within the lattice community and with R-ratio results. We perform a lattice QCD calculation using physical up, down, strange, an…
As recently shown, the ground state of dense QCD matter in a strong magnetic field is an inhomogeneous condensate of neutral pions which was named Chiral Soliton Lattice (CSL) phase in analogy with a state present for chiral magnets. We continue this work by showing that similar phase is present for a class of QCD-like theories which are accessible to standard lattice Monte-Carlo simulations unlike the QCD itself which suffers from the notorious sign problem if non-zero baryon chemical potential is considered. On the occasion of the Gravitation session of the Moriond conference we also briefly…
