In this work we study the existence of solutions to the following critical fractional problem with concave-convex nonlinearities, \begin{equation*} \left \{ \begin{array}{l} (-Δ)^su=λu^q+u^{2_s^*-1},\ u>0\quad\text{in }Ω,\\[3pt] \mkern+51mu u=0\quad\text{on } Σ_{\mathcal{D}}\\ \mkern+36mu \displaystyle \frac{\partial u}{\partial ν}=0\quad\text{on } Σ_{\mathcal{N}}
\end{array} \right. \end{equation*}
where $Ω\subset\mathbb{R}^N$ is a smooth bounded domain, $\frac{1}{2}<s<1$, $0<q<2_s^*-1$, $q\neq 1$, being $2_s^*=\frac{2N}{N-2s}$ the critical fractional Sobolev exponent, $λ>0$, $ν$ is the outwards normal to $\partialΩ$, $Σ_{\mathcal{D}}$, $Σ_{\mathcal{N}}$ are smooth $(N-1)$-dimensional submanifolds of $\partialΩ$ such that $Σ_{\mathcal{D}}\cupΣ_{\mathcal{N}}=\partialΩ$, $Σ_{\mathcal{D}}\capΣ_{\mathcal{N}}=\emptyset$, and $Σ_{\mathcal{D}}\cap\overlineΣ_{\mathcal{N}}=Γ$ is a smooth $(N-2)$-dimensional submanifold of $\partialΩ$.\newline In particular, we will prove that, for the sublinear case $0<q<1$, there exists at least two solutions for every $0<λ<Λ$ for certain $Λ\in\mathbb{R}$ while, for the superlinear case $1<q<2_s^*-1$, we will prove that there exists at least one solution for every $λ>0$. We will also prove that solutions are bounded.
We study a nonlinear elliptic problem defined in a bounded domain involving fractional powers of the Laplacian operator together with a concave-convex term. We characterize completely the range of parameters for which solutions of the problem exist and prove a multiplicity result.
In this paper we will prove the nodal line $N$ of the second eigenfunction of the Laplacian over some simply connected concave domain $Ω$ in $\mathbb{R}^2$ must intersect the boundary $\partialΩ$ at exactly two points.
In this paper we consider a class of critical concave convex Ambrosetti-Prodi type problems for the fractional $p$-Laplacian operator. By applying the Linking Theorem and the Mountain Pass Theorem as well, the interaction of the nonlinearities with the first eigenvalue of fractional $p$-Laplacian will be used to prove existence and multiplicity of solutions.
This paper deals with existence of positive solutions for a class of quasilinear elliptic systems involving the $Φ$-Laplacian operator and convex-concave singular terms. Our approach is based on the generalized Galerkin Method along with perturbartion techniques and comparison arguments in the setting of Orlicz-Sobolev spaces
In this paper, we consider a fractional p-Laplacian system with both concave-convex nonlinearities and sign-changing weight functions in bounded domains. With the help of the Nehari\ manifold, we prove that the system has at least two nontrivial solutions when the pair of the parameters $(λ,μ)$ belongs to a certain subset of $\mathbb{R}^{n}$
A Dirichlet problem driven by the $(p,q)$-Laplace operator and an asymmetric concave reaction with positive parameter is investigated. Four nontrivial smooth solutions (two positive, one negative, and the remaining nodal) are obtained once the parameter turns out to be sufficiently small. Under a oddness condition near the origin for the perturbation, a whole sequence of sign-changing solutions, which converges to zero, is produced.
A homogeneous Dirichlet problem with $(p,q)$-Laplace differential operator and reaction given by a parametric $p$-convex term plus a $q$-concave one is investigated. A bifurcation-type result, describing changes in the set of positive solutions as the parameter $λ>0$ varies, is proven. Since for every admissible $λ$ the problem has a smallest positive solution $\bar u_λ$, both monotonicity and continuity of the map $ λ\mapsto \bar u_λ$ are studied.
We prove the existence of solutions for a class of quasilinear problems involving variable exponents and with nonlinearity having critical growth. The main tool used is the variational method, more precisely, Ekeland's Variational Principle and the Mountain Pass Theorem.
Recently, many fractional integral operators were introduced by different mathematicians. One of these fractional operators, Atangana-Baleanu fractional integral operator, was defined by Atangana and Baleanu in [2]. In this study, firstly, a new identity by using Atangana-Baleanu fractional integral operators are proved. Then, new fractional integral inequalities have been obtained for convex and concave functions with the help of this identity and some certain integral inequalities
We study the following boundary value problem with a concave-convex nonlinearity: \begin{equation*} \left\{ \begin{array}{r c l l} -Δ_p u & = & Λ\,u^{q-1}+ u^{r-1} & \textrm{in }Ω, \\ u & = & 0 & \textrm{on }\partialΩ. \end{array}\right. \end{equation*} Here $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^n$ is a bounded domain and $1<q<p<r<p^*$. It is well known that there exists a number $Λ_{q,r}>0$ such that the problem admits at least two positive solutions for $0<Λ<Λ_{q,r}$, at least one positive solution for $Λ=Λ_{q,r}$, and no positive solution for $Λ> Λ_{q,r}$. We show that \[ \lim_{q \to p} Λ_{q,r} = λ_1(p), \]…
In this paper, we first establish Hopf's lemmas for parabolic fractional equations and parabolic fractional $p$-equations. Then we derive an asymptotic Hopf's lemma for antisymmetric solutions to parabolic fractional equations. We believe that these Hopf's lemmas will become powerful tools in obtaining qualitative properties of solutions for nonlocal parabolic equations.
In this article we study the existence of sign changing solution of the following p-fractional problem with concave-critical nonlinearities: \begin{eqnarray*} (-Δ)^s_pu &=& μ|u|^{q-1}u + |u|^{p^*_s-2}u \quad\mbox{in}\quad Ω, u&=&0\quad\mbox{in}\quad\mathbb{R}^N\setminusΩ, \end{eqnarray*} where $s\in(0,1)$ and $p\geq 2$ are fixed parameters, $0<q<p-1$, $μ\in\mathbb{R}^+$ and $p_s^*=\frac{Np}{N-ps}$. $Ω$ is an open, bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^N$ with smooth boundary with $N>ps$ .
In this paper, we give the boundeness of solutions to Fractional Laplacian Ginzburg-Landau equation, which extends the Brezis theorem into the nonlinear Fractional Laplacian equation. A related linear fractional Schrodinger equation is also studied.
In this paper, we present an approach to the fractional Dunkl Laplacian in a framework emerging from certain reflection symmetries in Euclidean spaces. Our main result is pointwise formulas, Bochner subordination, and an extension problem for the fractional Dunkl Laplacian as well
We obtain a unique continuation result for fractional Schrödinger operators with potential in Morrey spaces. This is based on Carleman inequalities for fractional Laplacians.
In this note, we study the asymptotic behavior of eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the regional fractional Laplacian $(-Δ)^s$ as $ s \to 0^+$. Our analysis leads to a study of the regional logarithmic Laplacian, which arises as a formal derivative of regional fractional Laplacians at $s = 0$.
In this paper, we generalize the direct method of moving planes for the fractional Laplacian to the system case. Considering a coupled nonlinear system with fractional Laplacian, we first establish a decay at infinity principle and a narrow region principle. Using these principles, we obtain two radial symmetry results for the decaying solutions of the fractional Laplacian systems. Our method can be applied to fractional Schrödinger systems and fractional Hénon systems.
In this paper, we prove the existence and uniqueness of nonnegative renormalized solutions for the fractional p(x)-Laplacian problem with L1 data. Our results are new even in the constant exponent fractional p-Laplacian equation case.
In this paper we study the fractional Dirichlet p-sub-Laplacian in a Haar measurable set on homogeneous Lie groups. We prove fractional Sobolev and Hardy inequalities and we also present a Lyapunov-type inequality for the fractional p-sub-Laplacian. As a consequence of the Lyapunov-type inequality we show an estimate of the first eigenvalue in a quasi-ball for the Dirichlet fractional p-sub-Laplacian.
We compare two natural types of fractional Laplacians $(-Δ)^s$, "Navier" and "Dirichlet" ones. We show that for $0<s<1$ their difference is positive definite and positivity preserving. Then we prove the coincidence of the Sobolev constants for these two fractional Laplacians.
In this paper, we give some properties and remarks of the new fractional Sobolev spaces with variable exponents. We also study the eigenvalue problem involving the new fractional $p(\cdot)$-Laplacian.
In this work we analyze the behavior of the spectrum of the peridynamic fractional $p$-Laplacian, $(-Δ_p)_δ^s$, under the limit process $δ\to0^+$ or $δ\to+\infty$. We prove spectral convergence to the classical $p$-Laplacian under a suitable scaling as $δ\to0^+$ and to the fractional $p$-Laplacian as $δ\to+\infty$.
In this paper we study the existence of multiple nontrivial positive weak solutions to the following system of problems. \begin{align*} \begin{split} -Δ_{p}u-Δ_q u &= λf(x)|u|^{r-2}u+ν\frac{1-α}{2-α-β}h(x) |u|^{-α}|v|^{1-β}\,\,\mbox{in}\,\,Ω,\\ -Δ_{p}v-Δ_q v &= μg(x)|v|^{r-2}v+ν\frac{1-β}{2-α-β}h(x) |u|^{1-α}|v|^{-β}\,\,\mbox{in}\,\,Ω,\\ u,v&>0\,\,\mbox{in}\,\,Ω,\\ u= v &= 0\,\, \mbox{on}\,\, \partialΩ\end{split} \end{align*} where (C):~$0<α<1,\;0<β<1,$ $2-α-β<q<\frac{N(p-1)}{N-p}<p<r<p^*$, with $p^*=\frac{Np}{N-p}$. We will guarantee the existence of a solution in the Nehari manifold. Further…
By using the fibering method jointly with Nehari manifold techniques, we obtain the existence of multiple solutions to a fractional $p$-Laplacian system involving critical concave-convex nonlinearities provided that a suitable smallness condition on the parameters involved is assumed. The result is obtained despite there is no general classification for the optimizers of the critical fractional Sobolev embedding.
We extend the classical Liouville Theorem from Laplacian to the fractional Laplacian, that is, we prove Every $α$-harmonic function bounded either above or below in all of $R^n$ must be constant.
The main objective of this paper is to establish the convergence for the fractional $p$-Laplacian of nonnegative sequence of functions with $p>2$. Further, we show the blow-up phenomena for solutions to the extended Nirenberg problem modeled by fractional $p$-Laplacian with the prescribed negative functions.
In this paper, we study existence of boundary blow-up solutions for elliptic equations involving regional fractional Laplacian. We also discuss the optimality of our results.
In this paper, we consider a Lewy-Stampacchia-type inequality for the fractional Laplacian on a bounded domain in Euclidean space. Using this inequality, we can show the well-posedness of fractional-type anomalous unidirectional diffusion equations. This study is an extension of the work by Akagi-Kimura (2019) for the standard Laplacian. However, there exist several difficulties due to the nonlocal feature of the fractional Laplacian. We overcome those difficulties employing the Caffarelli-Silvestre extension of the fractional Laplacian.
In this work we study the following fractional critical problem $$ (P_λ)=\left\{\begin{array}{ll} (-Δ)^s u=λu^{q} + u^{2^*_{s}-1}, \quad u{>}0 & \mbox{in} Ω\\ u=0 & \mbox{in} \RR^n\setminus Ω\,, \end{array}\right. $$ where $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^n$ is a regular bounded domain, $λ>0$, $0<s<1$ and $n>2s$. Here $(-Δ)^s$ denotes the fractional Laplace operator defined, up to a normalization factor, by $$ -(-Δ)^s u(x)={\rm P. V.} \int_{\RR^n}\frac{u(x+y)+u(x-y)-2u(x)}{|y|^{n+2s}}\,dy, \quad x\in \RR^n. $$ Our main results show the existence and multiplicity of solutions to problem $(P_λ)$ for differe…
This paper concerns with the study of the asymptotic behavior of the solutions to a family of fractional type problems on a bounded domain, satisfying homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions. The family of differential operators includes the fractional $p_n$-Laplacian when $p_n\to\infty$ as a particular case, tough it could be extended to a function of the Hölder quotient of order $s$, whose primitive is an Orlicz function satisfying appropriated growth conditions. The limit equation involves the Hölder infinity Laplacian.
We show a convergence result of the fractional Laplacian for sequences of nonnegative functions without uniform boundedness near infinity. As an application, we construct a sequence of solutions to the fractional Nirenberg problem that blows up in the region where the prescribed functions are negative. This is a different phenomenon from the classical Nirenberg problem.
The existence of at least two solutions to superlinear integral equation in cone is proved using the Krasnosielskii Fixed Point Theorem. The result is applied to the Dirichlet BVPs with the fractional Laplacian.
In this paper we study the obstacle problems for the Navier (spectral) fractional Laplacian $\left(-Δ_Ω\right)^{\!s}$ of order $s\in(0,1)$, in a bounded domain $Ω\subset\mathbb R^n$.
We investigate the existence of nonnegative solutions for a nonlinear problem involving the fractional p-Laplacian operator. The problem is set on a unbounded domain, and compactness issues have to be handled.
In this note we present the Pohozaev identity for the fractional Laplacian. As a consequence of this identity, we prove the nonexistence of nontrivial bounded solutions to semilinear problems with supercritical nonlinearities in star-shaped domains.
In this paper, we study qualitative properties of the fractional $p$-Laplacian. Specifically, we establish a Hopf type lemma for positive weak super-solutions of the fractional $p-$Laplacian equation with Dirichlet condition. Moreover, an optimal condition is obtained to ensure $(-\triangle)_p^s u\in C^1(\mathbb{R}^n)$ for smooth functions $u$.
We study various qualitative and quantitative (global) unique continuation properties for the fractional discrete Laplacian. We show that while the fractional Laplacian enjoys striking rigidity properties in the form of (global) unique continuation properties, the fractional discrete Laplacian does not enjoy these in general. While discretization thus counteracts the strong rigidity properties of the continuum fractional Laplacian, by discussing quantitative forms of unique continuation, we illustrate that these properties can be recovered if exponentially small (in the lattice size) correctio…
In this work we prove the non-degeneracy of the critical points of the Robin function for the Fractional Laplacian under symmetry and convexity assumptions on the domain $Ω$. This work extends to the fractional setting the results of M. Grossi concerning the classical Laplace operator.
We obtain some existence theorems for periodic solutions to several linear equations involving fractional Laplacian. We also prove that the lower bound of all periods for semilinear elliptic equations involving fractional Laplacian is not larger than some exact positive constant. Hamiltonian identity, Modica-type inequalities and an estimate of the energy for periodic solutions are also established.
We obtain fundamental imbeddings for the fractional Sobolev space with variable exponent that is a generalization of well-known fractional Sobolev spaces. As an application, we obtain a-priori bounds and multiplicity of solutions to some nonlinear elliptic problems involving the fractional $p(\cdot)$-Laplacian.
In this paper we study existence and nonexistence of nonnegative distributional solutions for a class of semilinear fractional elliptic equations involving the Hardy potential.
We show how nonlocal boundary conditions of Robin type can be encoded in the pointwise expression of the fractional operator. Notably, the fractional Laplacian of functions satisfying homogeneous nonlocal Neumann conditions can be expressed as a regional operator with a kernel having logarithmic behaviour at the boundary.
In this paper we give sufficient conditions on the approximating domains in order to obtain the continuity of solutions for the fractional $p-$laplacian. These conditions are given in terms of the fractional capacity of the approximating domains.
In this paper, we are interested to analyze a nonlocal nonlinear parabolic equation with fractional Laplacian. We show that there are no nontrivial global weak solutions using the test function method.
We investigate the role of the noncompact group of dilations in $\mathbb R^n$ on the difference of the quadratic forms associated to the fractional Dirichlet and Navier Laplacians. Then we apply our results to study the Brezis--Nirenberg effect in two families of noncompact boundary value problems involving the Navier-Laplacian.
We study the Brezis--Nirenberg effect in two families of noncompact boundary value problems involving Dirichlet-Laplacian of arbitrary real order $m>0$.
We show that the fractional Laplacian on $\mathbb{R}^d$ fails to satisfy the Bakry-Émery curvature-dimension inequality $CD(κ,N)$ for all curvature bounds $κ\in \mathbb{R}$ and all finite dimensions $N>0$.
For a one-phase free boundary problem involving a fractional Laplacian, we prove that "flat free boundaries" are $C^{1,α}$. We recover the regularity results of Caffarelli for viscosity solutions of the classical Bernoulli-type free boundary problem with the standard Laplacian.
The short note here is to give a few heuristic arguments on the weird looking fractional Laplacian operator. This is certainly going to expand the vision of a reader who is looking to develope a taste for research in this direction.
We prove the attainability of the best constant in the fractional Hardy--Sobolev inequality with boundary singularity for the Spectral Dirichlet Laplacian. The main assumption is the average concavity of the boundary at the origin.
We prove the coincidence of the Sobolev and Hardy constants relative to the "Dirichlet" and "Navier" fractional Laplacians of any real order $m\in(0,\frac{n}{2})$ over bounded domains in $\mathbb R^n$.
In this work we introduce volume constraint problems involving the nonlocal operator $(-Δ)_δ^{s}$, closely related to the fractional Laplacian $(-Δ)^{s}$, and depending upon a parameter $δ>0$ called horizon. We study the associated linear and spectral problems and the behavior of these volume constraint problems when $δ\to0^+$ and $δ\to+\infty$. Through these limit processes on $(-Δ)_δ^{s}$ we derive spectral convergence to the local Laplacian and to the fractional Laplacian as $δ\to 0^+$ and $δ\to +\infty$ respectively, as well as we prove the convergence of solutions of these problems to sol…
We provide a detailed description of the relationships between the fractional Laplacian of order $2s\in(0,n)$ on $\mathbb{R}^n$ and the $\textit{$s$-polyharmonic}$ extension operator to the upper half space $\mathbb{R}^{n+1}_+$.
