We obtain new regular black hole solutions for an action in 2+1 dimensions with bilocal Ricci scalar and negative cosmological constant. Besides their connection to the cosmological constant, these solutions depend on a fundamental length due to their non-local nature. The effective profile densities that result from the non-local geometries have quasi-localized mass/energy since they are finite at the origin and their integration in all space is convergent. The black holes obtained are free of singularities and present one, two, or none horizons depending on the values of the involved parameters. The new solutions can have either an AdS, dS, or even a flat core. In the case of a de-Sitter core, it could represent a repulsive force coming from quantum effects. Although the resulting (effective) cosmological constant is positive near the origin, the classical (naked) counterpart is still negative thus precluding a cosmological horizon. We investigate the energy conditions of the effective source and determine the region where exotic energy should be found. Thermodynamic quantities are also computed. On the one hand, Gibbs's potential shows that both solutions are globally unstable, as in the BTZ case. On the other, we show that for small values of the horizon radius the Hawking temperature is negatively divergent but a finite size remnant can be defined where $T_H$ crosses zero. At this point, the heat capacity sign changes from negative to positive, indicating that the black holes are locally stable while irradiating. Thus, such a quantity, along with $T_H$, presents crucial differences with the BTZ black hole for small horizon radii where quantum effects become relevant. Finally, we analyze the bilocal black hole geodesics and find stable circular orbits for massless and massive particles, another feature absent in the BTZ case.
With the aim of investigating the relation between gravity and non-locality at the classical level, we study a bilocal scalar field model. Bilocality introduces new (internal) degrees of freedom that seem to reproduce gravity. We show that the equations of motion of the massless branch of the free bilocal model match those of linearized gravity. We also discuss higher orders of perturbation theory, where there is self-interaction in both gravity and the bilocal field sectors.
We study a classical bilocal field theory perturbatively up to second order. The chosen theory is the simplest which incorporates action-at-a-distance, while keeping non-local effects short-ranged. We show that the new degrees of freedom introduced by bilocality can be interpreted as gravitational degrees of freedom in the following sense: solutions of the bilocal system at linear and second order contain as a subset, gravitational perturbations (spacetime fluctuations) also to that order. In other words, gravity can be thought to originate in a bilocal field theory. We examine potential impli…
In this paper, we obtain a static black string solution for a bilocal gravitational source in 3+1 dimensions. The solution is regular at the origin and tends asymptotically to the ordinary static uncharged black string solution of general relativity. It allows an event horizon and an internal horizon depending on the value of the mass density. A mass remnant associated with a vanishing Hawking temperature is also found. In order to stabilize the solution, a perfect cosmological fluid with state parameter $ω>-1$ should be present throughout space. However, energy conditions do not exclude an ex…

It is shown that polynomial gravity theories with more than four derivatives in each scalar and tensor sectors have a regular weak-field limit, without curvature singularities. This is achieved by proving that in these models the effect of the higher derivatives can be regarded as a complete regularization of the delta-source. We also show how this result implies that a wide class of non-local ghost-free gravities have a regular Newtonian limit too, and discuss the applicability of this approach to the case of weakly non-local models.
We consider the higher-order gravity theory derived from the quadratic lagrangian $R+εR^2$ in vacuum as a first-order (ADM-type) system with constraints, and build time developments of solutions of an initial value formulation of the theory. We show that all such solutions, if analytic, contain the right number of free functions to qualify as general solutions of the theory. We further show that any regular analytic solution which satisfies the constraints and the evolution equations can be given in the form of an asymptotic formal power series expansion.
It is found that, when the coupling constants $α_p$ in the theory of regularized Lovelock gravity are properly chosen and the number of Lovelock tensors $p\rightarrow \infty$, there exist a fairly large number of nonsingular (singularity free) black holes and nonsingular universes. Some nonsingular black holes have numerous horizons and numerous energy levels (a bit like atom) inside the outer event horizon. On the other hand, some nonsingular universes start and end in two de Sitter phases. The ratio of energy densities for the two phases are $120$ orders. It is thus helpful to understand the…
It turns out that the infinite derivative gravity (IDG) is ghost-free and renormalizable when one chooses the exponential of an entire function. For this IDG case, the corresponding Newtonian potential generated from the delta function is non-singular at the origin. However, we will explicitly show that the source generating this non-singular potential is given not by the delta-function due to the point-like source of mass, but by the Gaussian mass distribution. This explains clearly why the IDG with the exponential of an entire function yields the finite potential at the origin.
In this paper, we study two different phenomena (the Newman-Janis algorithm and the semiclassical Hamilton-Jacobi method) to analyze the Hawking temperature ($T_H$) for massive $4$-dimensional regular Hayward BH with spin parameter. First of all, we compute the rotating regular Hayward black hole solution by taking the Newman-Janis algorithmic rule. We derive the $T_H$ for rotating regular Hayward BH with the help of surface gravity. We have also analyzed the effects of spin parameter $a$ and free parameter $l$ on $T_H$ with the help of graphs. Moreover, we investigate the quantum corrected Ha…
In this work, we consider that in energy scales greater than the Planck energy, the geometry, fundamental physical constants, as charge, mass, speed of light and Newtonian constant of gravitation, and matter fields will depend on the scale. This type of theory is known as Rainbow Gravity. We coupled the nonlinear electrodynamics to the Rainbow Gravity, defining a new mass function $M(r,ε)$, such that we may formulate new classes of spherically symmetric regular black hole solutions, where the curvature invariants are well-behaved in all spacetime. The main differences between the General Relat…
In the context of Born-Infeld gravity theories we report the existence of a regular black hole interior representing a spherically symmetric vacuum solution of the theory. It reduces to the Schwarzschild interior metric in the weak field region. In particular, there is a new length scale which is related to the Born-Infeld parameter. This endows the spacetime with an inner (i.e. well inside the event horizon) asymptotic region which is unattainable for observers. The central curvature singularity is replaced by an infinitely long cosmic string with constant curvature invariants related to the …

A version of massive gravity, namely conformal massive gravity, is employed to study the behavior of thermodynamic geometry for both the static and the rotating regular black holes. Whereas in thermodynamic geometry singularity can be interpreted as the second phase transition, seeing such phenomena as heat capacity behavior for both cases is investigated in detail. In addition, other thermodynamic quantities like the entropy and the temperature are analyzed as well. Another important property of the black holes is the so-called stability, in which utilizing the first phase transition of the h…
In terms of the complex angular momentum method, we compute the absorption cross section by analyzing a massless test scalar field around conformally related black holes. At first, we investigate circular null geodesics and thereby prove a precondition for calculating the absorption cross section in the context of conformally related black holes. Then we use the WKB approximation method to derive the analytic expression of Regge frequency and the oscillation part of absorption cross sections. We find that this oscillation part depends on the scale factor of conformal transformations. By taking…
We give a novel definition of gravitational energy for an arbitrary theory of gravity including quadratic-curvature corrections to Einstein equations. We focus on the theory in four dimensions, in presence of negative cosmological constant, and with asymptotically anti-de Sitter (AdS) boundary conditions. As a first example, we compute the gravitational energy and angular momentum of Schwarzschild-AdS black holes, for which we obtain results consistent with previous computations performed using different methods. However, our method differs qualitatively from other ones in the feature of being…
Regular self-consistent geometries with infinite quantum backreaction in 2D dilaton gravity and black hole thermodynamics: unfamiliar features of familiar models
We seek to obtain a new class of exact solutions of regular black holes in $f(T)$ Gravity with non-linear electrodynamics material content, with spherical symmetry in $4D$. The equations of motion provide the regaining of various solutions of General Relativity, as a particular case where the function $f(T)=T$. We developed a powerful method for finding exact solutions, where we get the first new class of regular black holes solutions in the $f(T)$ Theory, where all the geometrics scalars disappear at the origin of the radial coordinate and are finite everywhere, as well as a new class of sing…
In this work, we investigate the static, spherically symmetric regular black hole solutions in a generalized Rastall gravity. In particular, the prescription of Rastall gravity implies that the present approach does not necessarily involve nonlinear electrodynamics. Subsequently, the resulting regular black hole solution can be electrically and magnetically neutral. The general properties of the regular black hole solutions are explored. Moreover, specific solutions are derived and discussed, particularly regarding the parameter related to the degree of violation of energy-momentum conservatio…
In this study we investigate regular black hole solutions of the non-minimally coupled $ Y(R)F^2 $ gravity model. We give two regular black hole solutions and the corresponding non-minimal model for both electrically or magnetically charged cases. We calculate all the energy conditions for these solutions.
In regularized 4-dimensional Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet (EGB) gravity derived from a Kaluza-Klein reduction of higher-dimensional EGB theory, we study the existence and stability of black hole (BH) solutions on a static and spherically symmetric background. We show that asymptotically-flat hairy BH solutions realized for a spatially-flat maximally symmetric internal space are unstable against linear perturbations for any rescaled GB coupling constant. This instability is present for the angular propagation of even-parity perturbations both in the vicinity of an event horizon and at spatial infinity…
We investigated the regular multi-horizon black holes in the Einstein gravity, $F(R)$ gravity and the 5 dimensional Gauss-Bonnet gravity, all of them coupled with non-linear electrodynamics. We presented several explicit examples of the actions which admit the solutions describing regular black hole space-time with multi-horizons. Thermodynamics of the obtained black hole solutions is studied. The explicit expressions of the temperature, the entropy, the thermodynamical energy and the free energy are obtained. Although the temperature vanishes in the extremal limit where the radii of the two h…
In this paper, we determine regular black hole solutions using a very general $f(R)$ theory, coupled to a non-linear electromagnetic field given by a Lagrangian $\mathcal{L}_{NED}$. The functions $f(R)$ and $\mathcal{L}_{NED}$ are left in principle unspecified. Instead, the model is constructed through a choice of the mass function $M(r)$ presented in the metric coefficients. Solutions which have a regular behaviour of the geometric invariants are found. These solutions have two horizons, the event horizon and the Cauchy horizon. All energy conditions are satisfied in the whole space-time, exc…
We discuss static, cylindrically symmetric vacuum solutions of hybrid metric-Palatini gravity (HMPG), a recently proposed theory that has been shown to successfully pass the local observational tests and to produce a certain progress in cosmology. We use HMPG in its well-known scalar-tensor representation. The latter coincides with general relativity containing, as a source of gravity, a conformally coupled scalar field $ϕ$ and a self-interaction potential $V(ϕ)$. The $ϕ$ field can be canonical or phantom, and accordingly the theory splits into canonical and phantom sectors. We seek solitonic …
We examine the effect of addition of graviton mass on the efficiency of a regular charged black hole (RCB). In doing so, we make few comments on the critical behaviour of the system and calculate the relevant thermodynamic quantities such as entropy, Hawkings temperature and heat capacity. We confirm that graviton mass has a positive effect on the efficacy of such a heat engine under consideration.
We examine the thermodynamics of a regular charged black hole (RCB) added with corrections due to massive gravity and thermal fluctuations at quantum level. We then derive the expressions for all the relevant thermodynamic quantities such as entropy, Hawkings temperature, internal energy, Gibbs free energy, corrected to first order. We also briefly discuss the stability of such a system with the help of quantities like specific heat and thermodynamic pressure, along with this we present their comparative study with the corresponding original values.
An one-parameter regularization freedom of the Hamiltonian constraint for loop quantum gravity is analyzed. The corresponding spatially flat, homogenous and isotropic model includes the two well-known models of loop quantum cosmology as special cases. The quantum bounce nature is tenable in the generalized cases. For positive value of the regularization parameter, the effective Hamiltonian leads to an asymptotic de-Sitter branch of the Universe connecting to the standard Friedmann branch by the quantum bounce. Remarkably, by suitably choosing the value of the regularization parameter, the obse…
