The pursuit of discovery in particle physics has always required study at the highest possible energies. Multi-TeV muon colliders, which have important advantages, offer unprecedented potential for investigating new physics beyond the Standard Model. We extensively assume a range of center-of-mass energies from 3 to 30 TeV and a range of integrated luminosities from 1 to 90 ab$^{-1}$ for future multi-TeV muon colliders. We perform a phenomenological study of the anomalous $WWγ$ couplings via the process $μ^+ μ^-\,\rightarrow\,μ^+γ^* μ^-\,\rightarrow\,μ^+\ell^-ν_\ell \barν_\ell$ using a model-independent analysis in the effective field theory framework at multi-TeV muon colliders. The sensitivity estimates obtained for the anomalous $WWγ$ couplings at systematic uncertainties of $δ_{sys}=0$, $3$, $5\%$ are compared with the experimental results. Our best sensitivity limits at 95$\%$ confidence level for $c_{WWW}/{Λ^2}$, $c_{\widetilde{W}WW}/Λ^2$, $c_{B}/{Λ^2}$, $c_{W}/{Λ^2}$ and $c_{\widetilde{W}}/Λ^2$ couplings are $[-0.030; 0.025]\,\text{TeV}^{-2}$, $[-0.014; 0.014]\,\text{TeV}^{-2}$, $[-0.185; 0.187]\,\text{TeV}^{-2}$, $[-0.187; 0.189]\,\text{TeV}^{-2}$ and $[-1.177; 1.097]\,\text{TeV}^{-2}$ at the multi-TeV muon collider with center-of-mass energy of 30 TeV and integrated luminosity of 90 ab$^{-1}$, respectively.
Constraints from the muon anomalous magnetic dipole moment and lepton flavor violating processes are translated into lower bounds on v_Delta*m_H++ in the Higgs Triplet Model by considering correlations through the neutrino mass matrix. The discrepancy of the sign of the contribution to the muon anomalous magnetic dipole moment between the measurement and the prediction in the model is clarified. It is shown that mu to e gamma, tau decays (especially, tau to mu e e), and the muonium conversion can give a more stringent bound on v_Delta*m_H++ than the bound from mu to eee which is expected naive…
The evidence for dark matter signals a new class of particles at the TeV scale, which may manifest themselves indirectly through loop effects. In a simple model we show that these loop effects may be responsible for the enhanced muon anomalous magnetic moment, for the neutrino mass, as well as for leptogenesis in a novel way. This scenario can be verified at LHC experiments.
Observational evidences of nonzero neutrino masses and the existence of dark matter request physics beyond standard model. A model with extra scalars and leptonic vector-like fermions is introduced. By imposing a Z_2 symmetry, the neutrino masses as well as anomalous muon magnetic moment can be generated via one-loop effects at TeV-scale. An effort of explaining dark matter, Lithium problem, and leptogenesis is presented. This scenario can be tested at LHC and/or future experiments.
In the framework of the k_T-factorization QCD approach we consider the production of b quark pairs in p\bar p collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron. We investigate the dependence of the b quark, B meson and decay muon differential cross sections on the different forms of unintegrated gluon distributions. The analysis also covers the azimuthal correlations between the b and \bar b quarks and their decay muons. Our theoretical results agree well with recent data taken by the D0 and CDF collaborations at Tevatron. Finally, we present our predictions for muon-muon and muon-jet cross sections at the …
The muon anomalous magnetic moment $a_μ$ is studied in the infinite $\tanβ$ limit of the MSSM. Since the muon mass arises completely from loop effects, large corrections to $a_μ$ are expected in comparison to the usual case with moderately high $\tanβ$. Due to the qualitatively different parameter dependence, the gap between the experimental value and the Standard Model prediction can be filled only in parameter volumes in which a mass hierarchy suppresses the chargino loop in favour of the neutralino contribution. Two such possibilities are found to have either large Higgsino mass or large mu…
We study the complementarity of the proposed multi-TeV muon colliders and the near-future gravitational wave (GW) detectors to the first order electroweak phase transition (FOEWPT), taking the real scalar extended Standard Model as the representative model. A detailed collider simulation shows the FOEWPT parameter space can be greatly probed via the the vector boson fusion production of the singlet, and its subsequent decay to the di-Higgs or di-boson channels. Especially, almost all the parameter space yielding detectable GW signals can be probed by the muon colliders. Therefore, if we could …
We study the excited muon production at the FCC based muon-hadron colliders. We give the excited muon decay widths and production cross section. We deal with the $μp\rightarrowμ^{\star}q\rightarrowμγq$ process and we plot the transverse momentum, rapidity and invariant mass distributions of final state particles to get the discovery cuts. By using discovery cuts, we get the mass limits for excited muons. It is shown that the discovery limits on the mass of $μ^{\star}$ are 2.2 TeV, 5.9 TeV and 7.5 TeV for $\mu63$-FCC, $\mu750$-FCC and $\mu1500$-FCC, respectively.
We investigate the kinetic heating of neutron stars due to dark matter scattering in minimal models with scalar lepton partners mediating interactions which can account for the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. In particular, such models in which the dark matter is a thermally produced Majorana fermion can be extremely difficult to detect at conventional searches. We demonstrate that future infrared observations of an old neutron star population could definitively probe the entire parameter space of this scenario.
The effects of heavy quarks energy loss on the transverse momentum spectra of single muons are studied. The energy loss of heavy quarks when traversing the medium formed in PbPb collisions at $\sqrt{s_\mathrm{NN}}$=5.5 TeV is calculated by implementing the collision geometry and the quenching weights. The medium density is assumed to decrease at forward pseudo-rapidity and to be proportional with pseudo-rapidity multiplicity $dN/dη$. Muons from W decays can be used as a medium-blind reference to quantify the effect of heavy quarks energy loss on the single muon production.
We propose to realize (natural) NMSSM spectrum from deflected AMSB with new messenger-matter interactions. With additional messenger-matter interactions involving ${\bf 10}\oplus{\bf \overline{10}}$ representation messengers, the muon g-2 anomaly can be solved at $2σ$ (or $3σ$) level with the corresponding gluino mass range $2.8~{\rm TeV}<m_{\tilde{g}}<5.4~ {\rm TeV}$ (or $2.6 ~{\rm TeV}<m_{\tilde{g}}<7.3~ {\rm TeV}$). Besides, our scenario is fairly natural within which the involved fine tuning can be as low as 47. So, in the framework of AMSB-type scenarios, NMSSM can be advantageous in expl…
We study the search potential of heavy triplet leptons in Type III Seesaw mechanism at future high-energy and high-luminosity muon colliders. The impact of up-to-date neutrino oscillation results is taken into account on neutrino parameters and the consequent decay patterns of heavy leptons in Type III Seesaw. The three heavy leptons in the Casas-Ibarra parametrization with diagonal unity matrix are distinguishable in their decay modes. We consider the pair production of charged triplet leptons $E^+ E^-$ through both $μ^+μ^-$ annihilation and vector boson fusion (VBF) processes. The leading-or…
We apply Bogoliubov compensation principle to the gauge electro-weak interaction to demonstrate a spontaneous generation of anomalous three-boson gauge invariant effective interaction. The non-trivial solution of compensation equations uniquely defines values of parameters of the theory and the form-factor of the anomalous interaction. The contribution of this interaction to running EW coupling $α_{ew}(p^2)$ gives its observable value $α_{ew}(M_W^2)=0.0374$ in satisfactory agreement to the experiment. The anomalous three-boson interaction gives natural explanation of the well-known discrepancy…
The long-standing discrepancy of muon $g-2$ is a hint of new physics beyond the standard model of particle physics. In this letter we show that heavy new physics contribution can be fully tested at a muon collider with center-of-mass energy up to $O(10)\,$TeV. Even if there is no new particle in this energy range, one can measure the $g-2$ directly via the channel to a Higgs boson and a monochromatic photon.
We show that Compton scattering can be used to cool TeV-scale muon beams, and we derive analytical expressions for the equilibrium transverse angular spread, longitudinal energy spread, and power requirements. We find that a factor of a few thousand reduction in emittance is possible for a 3 TeV muon collider.
The perspectives for the observation of the rare decay H -> mumu decay and the determination of the muon Yukawa coupling at a TeV-class and at a multi-TeV e+e- linear colliders are discussed. The signal for the decay can be obtained at 0.8 TeV and a first estimate of the coupling derived. A linear collider operating at 3 TeV, with high luminosity, is able to improve the accuracy on this couplings to 4% to 11% for 120 GeV < M_H < 150 GeV.
We have investigated the production potential of the spin-1/2 excited muons, predicted by the preonic models, at the four SPPC (Super Proton-Proton Collider)-based muon-proton colliders in different center-of-mass energies. For the signal process μp\rightarrowμ^{\star}X\rightarrowμγX, the production cross-section and the decay width values of the excited muons have been calculated. The pseudorapidity and transverse momentum distributions of the final state particles of muons and photons have been obtained to be determine the kinematical cuts best suited for discovery of the excited muons. By a…
We explore the sensitivity of directly testing the muon-Higgs coupling at a high-energy muon collider. This is strongly motivated if there exists new physics that is not aligned with the Standard Model Yukawa interactions which are responsible for the fermion mass generation. We illustrate a few such examples for physics beyond the Standard Model. With the accidentally small value of the muon Yukawa coupling and its subtle role in the high-energy production of multiple (vector and Higgs) bosons, we show that it is possible to measure the muon-Higgs coupling to an accuracy of ten percent for a …
In a previous publication, we showed that a high energy muon collider can make decisive statements about the electroweak (WIMP) Dark Matter (DM), reaching a DM mass which could give the observed thermal relic abundance. In this document, we report new studies of the spin-$0$ minimal WIMP DM at high energy muon colliders, and update our results on the fermionic spin-$1/2$ case. We find that, by combining multiple inclusive missing mass search channels, it is possible to fully cover the thermal targets of fermionic and scalar doublets, and Dirac triplet, with a 10 TeV muon collider. Higher energ…
The muon anomalous magnetic moment $a_μ$ is investigated in the MSSM for $\tanβ\to\infty$. This is an attractive example of radiative muon mass generation with completely different qualitative parameter dependence compared to the MSSM with the usual, finite $\tanβ$. The observed, positive difference between the experimental and Standard Model value can only be explained if there are mass splittings, such that bino contributions dominate over wino ones. The two most promising cases are characterized either by large Higgsino mass $μ$ or by large left-handed smuon mass $m_L$. The required mass sp…
The reported discrepancy of the muon abnormal magnetic moment $a_μ^{}$ has impacts on the low energy phenomenology. In this paper we calculate the corrections to $a_μ$ in the standard model extended by the TeV scale seesaw models. We show that the correction induced by the type-I seesaw model is negative and of the order ${\cal O} (10^{-11})$, which can be neglected compared with $a_μ^{\rm SM}$. The correction induced by the type-II seesaw model, which depends on the mass of the Higgs triplet $m_Δ$ and the Yukawa coupling $Y_Δ$, can be of the order ${\cal O}(10^{-10})$ and compensate for the d…
We study the nuclear modification factors RAA and RCP of the high transverse momentum 5<pt<60 GeV/c distribution of muons in Pb--Pb collisions at LHC energies. We consider two pseudo-rapidity ranges covered by the LHC experiments: $|η|<2.5$ and $2.5<η<4$. Muons from semi-leptonic decays of heavy quarks (c and b) and from leptonic decays of weak gauge bosons (W and Z) are the main contributions to the muon pt distribution above a few GeV/c. We compute the heavy quark contributions using available pQCD-based programs. We include the nuclear shadowing modification of the parton distribution funct…
We consider triple Higgs boson production at a future 100 TeV proton-proton collider. We perform a survey of viable final states and compare and contrast triple production to Higgs boson pair production. Focussing on the $hhh \rightarrow (b\bar{b}) (b\bar{b}) (γγ)$ final state, we construct a baseline analysis for the Standard Model scenario and simple deformations, demonstrating that the process merits investigation in the high-luminosity phase of the future collider as a new probe of the self-coupling sector of the Higgs boson.
In addition to the long-standing anomalies seen in the muon $g-2$, $R_{K^{(*)}}$, and $R_{D^{(*)}}$ observables by various independent experiments, the CDF Collaboration has found another significant one in the $W$-boson mass. These anomalies might be intertwined at a fundamental level and have a single new-physics explanation. In this paper, we present a simultaneous solution to these anomalies with two scalar leptoquarks of roughly equal mass -- one weak-singlet $S_1$ and the other a weak-triplet $S_3$ -- which mix through a Higgs portal. The solution has only a few new couplings and TeV-sca…
We show that in a two Higgs doublet model type-II extended by vectorlike leptons the contributions from heavy neutral and charged Higgs bosons to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon simultaneously feature chiral enhancement from masses of new leptons and $\tan^2 β$ enhancement from couplings of Higgs bosons. Assuming moderate values of new Yukawa couplings, not exceeding one, that can remain perturbative to very high energy scales, the measured value of muon $g-2$ can be explained within one standard deviation even with 6.5 TeV leptons or 20 TeV Higgs bosons. Allowing new couplings near …
We use the Higgs coupling and the muon anomalous magnetic moment measurements to constrain the parameter space of the natural supersymmetry (SUSY) in the Generalized Minimal Supergravity (GmSUGRA) model. We scan the parameter space of the GmSUGRA model with small electroweak fine-tuning measure ($Δ_{\rm EW} \leq 100$). The parameter space after applying various sparticle mass bounds, Higgs mass bounds, B-physics bounds, the muon magnetic moment constraint, and the Higgs coupling constraint from measurements at HL-LHC, ILC, and CEPC, is shown in the planes of various interesting model parameter…
We explore the capabilities for new physics discovery in proton-antiproton collisions at 5.4 TeV center-of-mass energy with luminosity $10^{33} cm^{-2} s^{-1}$ at a Tripler upgrade of the Tevatron collider. The prospects are robust for the usual Higgs boson and supersymmetry benchmarks. With an integrated luminosity of 40 fb$^{-1}$, discoveries at 5$σ$ could be made for a standard Higgs boson of mass $\alt 680$ GeV (600 GeV for 10 fb$^{-1}$), a lighter chargino of mass $\alt 380$ GeV, and an extra $Z$ boson of mass $\alt 2.6$ TeV; four-fermion contact interactions from new physics with scale $…
If the masses of at least two generations of right-handed neutrinos (RHNs) are near-degenerate, the scale of leptogenesis can be as low as $\sim$ 100 GeV. In this work, we study probing such resonant leptogenesis in the $B-L$ model at the LHC and future multi-TeV muon colliders via the process $Z'\to NN\to\ell^\pm\ell^\pm+{\rm jets}$, with $Z'$ the $U(1)_{B-L}$ gauge boson and $N$ the RHN. The same-sign dilepton feature of the signal makes it almost background-free, while the event number difference between positive and negative leptons is a hint for $CP$ violation, which is a key ingredient o…
The FLUKA Monte Carlo program is used to predict the distributions of the muons which originate from primary cosmic gamma rays and reach sea level. The main result is the angular distribution of muons produced by vertical gamma rays which is necessary to predict the inherent angular resolution of any instrument utilizing muons to infer properties of gamma ray primaries. Furthermore, various physical effects are discussed which affect these distributions in differing proportions.
We calculate event rate and demonstrate the observational feasibility of very high energy muons (1-1000 TeV) in a large mass underground detector operating as a pair-meter. This energy range corresponds to surface muon energies of $\sim$(5 TeV - 5000 TeV) and primary cosmic ray energies of $\sim$ (50 TeV - 5 $\times 10^4$ TeV). Such measurements would significantly assist in an improved understanding of the prompt contribution to $ν_e, ν_μ$ and $μ$ fluxes in present and future ultra-high energy neutrino detectors. In addition, they would shed light on the origin of the observed 'knee' in the c…
In recent years, with the enlightenment of some issues encountered at muon colliders, muon colliders have become more feasible for the high-energy physics community. For this reason, we studied single production of excited muon at muon colliders via contact interaction. Besides, we assumed that the excited muon is produced via contact interactions and decays to the photon and the muon through the gauge interaction. Then, signal and background analyses were performed at the muon anti-muon collider options with 6 TeV, 14 TeV, and 100 TeV center-of-mass energies for the excited muon. Attainable m…
In view of the interpretation of data collected by large, deep underground experiments in terms of primary Cosmic Ray physics, this work is focused on the study of the production of of TeV muons in Extensive Air Showers. The review tries to point out those features of hadronic interactions that mostly affect the production of the high energy muons. A few different Monte Carlo codes are compared, with a particular attention to those based on the Regge-Gribov framework. The possibility of performing experimental tests of the proposed models is also briefly discussed.
We revisit the process of inverse neutrino-less double beta decay (e e -> W W) at future linear colliders. The cases of Majorana neutrino and Higgs triplet exchange are considered. We also discuss the processes e mu -> W W and mu mu -> W W, which are motivated by the possibility of muon colliders. For heavy neutrino exchange and center-of-mass energies larger than 1 TeV, we show that masses up to 10^6 (10^5) GeV could be probed for e-e and e-mu machines, respectively. The stringent limits for mixing of heavy neutrinos with muons render mu mu -> W W less promising, even though this process is n…
This is a preliminary study to examine the prospect of detecting TeV photons from $γ$-ray bursts (GRB) using km-size neutrino telescopes, specifically for the ANTARES neutrino telescope. Although optimized to detect upgoing neutrino-induced muons, neutrino telescopes nevertheless have a potential to detect high-energy photons by detecting downgoing muons from the electromagnetic cascade induced by the interaction of TeV photons with the Earth's atmosphere. The photon energy spectrum of a GRB is modeled by a simple power law and is normalized by simple energy considerations. Taking into account…

We estimate the expected precision at a multi-TeV muon collider for measuring the Higgs boson couplings with electroweak gauge bosons, $HVV$ and $HHVV\ (V=W^\pm,Z)$, as well as the trilinear Higgs self-coupling $HHH$. At very high energies both single and double Higgs productions rely on the vector-boson fusion (VBF) topology. The outgoing remnant particles have a strong tendency to stay in the very forward region, leading to the configuration of the "inclusive process" and making it difficult to isolate $ZZ$ fusion events from the $WW$ fusion. In the single Higgs channel, we perform a maximum…
Measuring longitudinally polarized vector boson scattering in, e.g., the ZZ channel is a promising way to investigate the unitarization scheme from the Higgs and possible new physics beyond the Standard Model. However, at the LHC, it demands the end of the HL-LHC lifetime luminosity, 3000/fb, and advanced data analysis technique to reach the discovery threshold due to its small production rates. Instead, there could be great potential for future colliders. In this paper, we perform a Monte Carlo study and examine the projected sensitivity of longitudinally polarized ZZ scattering at a TeV scal…
Measuring the shape of the Higgs boson potential is of paramount importance and will be a challenging task at current as well as future colliders. While the expectations for the measurement of the trilinear Higgs self-coupling are rather promising, an accurate measurement of the quartic self-coupling interaction is presently considered extremely challenging even at a future 100 TeV proton-proton collider. In this work we explore the sensitivity that a muon collider with a center of mass energy in the multi-TeV range, and luminosities of the order of 10^35cm^-2s^-1, as presently under discussio…
A lepton collider in the multi-TeV range has the potential to measure the trilinear Higgs self-coupling constant $λ_{hhh}$ via the W-fusion mode $\ell^+\ell^- \rightarrow ν_\ell \barν_\ell h h$. In this paper we do a generator-level study to explore how center-of-mass energy spread, cone size, tracking resolution, and collision energy range affect how precisely a muon collider can measure $λ_{hhh}$ in comparison to an $e^+e^-$ collider. The smaller spread in center-of-mass energy and higher energy range of a muon collider improve cross section while the larger cone required to reduce beam-indu…
If the discrepancy between the theoretical and newly measured values of the muon's anomalous magnetic moment is ascribed to muon substructure, there results an improved model--independent limit on its energy scale, 1.2 TeV < Lambda_mu < 3.2 TeV at 95% C.L.
Intrigued by some features of a small but significant fraction of the multi-muon events recently published by the CDF collaboration, we show an explicit attempt to describe them in terms of a light scalar singlet $ϕ$ which communicates with the standard quarks either through a heavy scalar or a heavy fermion exchange. As suggested in arXiv:0810.7530, the singlet $ϕ$ has a chain decay into a final state made of four $τ\barτ$ pairs. We can simulate most of the muon properties of the selected sample of events. Some of these properties adhere rather well to the already published data; others shoul…
