We study the quasi-two-body $D\to SP$ decays and the three-body $D$ decays proceeding through intermediate scalar resonances, where $S$ and $P$ denote scalar and pseudoscalar mesons, respectively. Our main results are: (i) Certain external and internal $W$-emission diagrams with the emitted meson being a scalar meson are na{ï}vely expected to vanish, but they actually receive contributions from vertex and hard spectator-scattering corrections beyond the factorization approximation. (ii) For light scalars with masses below or close to 1~GeV, it is more sensible to study three-body decays directly and compare with experiment as the two-body branching fractions are either unavailable or subject to large finite-width effects of the scalar meson. (iii) We consider the two-quark (scheme I) and four-quark (scheme II) descriptions of the light scalar mesons, and find the latter generally in better agreement with experiment. This is in line with recent BESIII measurements of semileptonic charm decays that prefer the tetraquark description of light scalars produced in charmed meson decays. (iv) The topological amplitude approach fails here as the $D\to SP$ decay branching fractions cannot be reliably inferred from the measurements of three-body decays, mainly because the decay rates cannot be factorized into the topological amplitude squared and the phase space factor. (v) The predicted rates for $D^0\to f_0 P, a_0 P$ are generally smaller than experimental data by one order of magnitude, presumably implying the significance of $W$-exchange amplitudes. (vi) The $W$-annihilation amplitude is found to be very sizable in the $SP$ sector with $|A/T|_{SP}\sim 1/2$, contrary to its suppression in the $PP$ sector with $|A/T|_{PP}\sim 0.18$.
A simple hadronic axion model is proposed in the framework of gauge-mediated supersymmetry breaking. Dynamics of Peccei-Quinn symmetry breaking is governed by supersymmetry breaking effects and the Peccei-Quinn breaking scale $f_{PQ}$ is inversely proportional to the gravitino mass. The gravitino mass range which corresponds to the axion window $f_{PQ} \simeq 10^{9}$ GeV -- $10^{13}$ GeV lies in the region predicted by gauge-mediated supersymmetry breaking models. The model is also shown to be cosmologically viable.
Recently we have proposed a simple hadronic axion model within gauge-mediated supersymmetry breaking. In this paper we discuss various cosmological consequences of the model in great detail. A particular attention is paid to a saxion, a scalar partner of an axion, which is produced as a coherent oscillation in the early universe. We show that our model is cosmologically viable, if the reheating temperature of inflation is sufficiently low. We also discuss the late decay of the saxion which gives a preferable power spectrum of the density fluctuation in the standard cold dark matter model when …
Searches for new hadronic resonances typically focus on high-mass spectra, due to overwhelming QCD backgrounds and detector trigger rates. We present a study of searches for relatively low-mass hadronic resonances at the LHC in the case that the resonance is boosted by recoiling against a well-measured high-$p_{\textrm{T}}$ probe such as a muon, photon or jet. The hadronic decay of the resonance is then reconstructed either as a single large-radius jet or as a resolved pair of standard narrow-radius jets, balanced in transverse momentum to the probe. We show that the existing 2015 LHC dataset …
Novel contributions to the total inclusive cross section for Higgs-Strahlung in the Standard Model at hadron colliders are evaluated. Although formally of order $α_s^2$, they have not been taken into account in previous NNLO predictions. The terms under consideration are induced by Higgs radiation off top-quark loops and thus proportional to the top-quark Yukawa coupling. At the Tevatron, their effects to HW production are below 1% in the relevant Higgs mass range, while for HZ production, we find corrections between about 1% and 2%. At the LHC, the contribution of the newly evaluated terms to…
I discuss how masses and widths of hadron resonances are extracted from lattice QCD. Recent lattice results on the light, strange and charm meson resonances are reviewed. Their properties are revealed by simulating the corresponding scattering channels pi-pi, K-pi and D-pi on the lattice and extracting the scattering phase shifts. In particular we address the resonances rho, D0*(2400), D1(2430), K*, kappa and K0*(1430).
We study the hadronic vacuum polarization in the resonance energy region, using the framework given by the Resonance Effective Theory of QCD. We consider the incorporation of vector-pseudoscalar meson loops that give, inclusively, three and four pseudoscalar meson cuts. After resummation we achieve a QCD-based inclusive parameterization of the correlator, hence of the hadronic cross-section in the energy region populated by resonances.
Exclusive semi-leptonic decays of the tau lepton offer a clean probe to study the hadronization of QCD currents in its non-perturbative regime and learn about resonance dynamics, which drives strong interactions in these processes. In this theory outlook, I will use the simplest non-trivial di-pion tau decays to illustrate briefly recent theoretical progress on these analyses and their comparison to data.
Earlier described model amplitudes are used in this paper to evaluate both cross sections and density matrices for two-photon mediated resonance production in e^+e^- collisions. All 25 q\bar{q} low-lying ^1S_0, ^3P_J and ^1D_2 resonances can thus be treated. Two independent methods are described to obtain the resonance production density matrices and cross sections. These density matrices combined with a resonance decay density matrix give the detailed angular distributions of the resonance decay products. For two particular decays, χ_{c2},χ_{c1}\toγJ/ψthe details are given. Several numerical …
Using a relativistic hydrodynamics + hadronic afterburner simulation we explore resonance production in PbPb collisions at 5.02 TeV, and demonstrate that many resonance yields, mean transverse momenta, and flows are very sensitive to the late stage hadronic rescattering. Out of all measured resonances $Λ(1520)$ is affected strongest by the hadronic rescattering stage, which allows to estimate its duration, and even constrain branching ratios of $Σ^* \to Λ(1520)π$ decays. Strong suppression of $Λ(1520)$, which in vacuum has a lifetime of 12.6 fm/$c$, is explained by its small lifetime in a hadr…
Until present the study of the form factors associated to the vector and axial-vector components of the hadronic weak current has been carried out with a plethora of modelizations of the underlying strong interactions. While of importance to get an understanding of the dynamics involved, the amount and quality of the experimental data start to show some discrepancies with the analysed models. Moreover, and from a theoretical point of view, most of these models are not consistent with quantum chromodynamics (QCD). We propose a QCD-based model-independent procedure to analyse those decays throug…
The exchange of a light $t$-channel flavor-changing gauge boson, $\Vp$, with mass $\sim m_{top}$ remains a leading explanation for the anomalous forward backward asymmetry in top quark production at the Tevatron. Unlike other ideas, including heavier $t$-channel mediators, the light $\Vp$ model is not easily seen in the $\mtt$ distribution. We advocate a more promising strategy. While current analyses at hadron colliders may not be sensitive, we propose searching for a $jj$ resonance in association with single top that may allow discovery in existing data. Deviations in the lepton charge asymm…
Recently the concept of compositeness has been developed so as to distinguish whether interested hadrons are hadronic molecules or not. Here, in terms of compositeness, we investigate $\bar{K} N$ molecular structure of the $Λ(1405)$ resonance with the $Λ(1405)$ radiative decay and $K \bar{K}$ molecular structure of the $a_{0} (980)$ and $f_{0} (980)$ resonances with the $a_{0} (980)$-$f_{0} (980)$ mixing.
Hadronic decays of the highly excited $2D$ $D_s$ resonances have been studied in the $^3P_0$ model. Widths of all possible hadronic decay channels of the $2D$ $D_s$ have been computed. $D^*_{s1}(2700)$, $D^*_{s1}(2860)$, $D^*_{s3}(2860)$, $D(2600)$ and $D(2750)$ can be produced from hadronic decays of the $2D$ $D_s$, and relevant hadronic decay widths have been particularly paid attention to. The hadronic decay widths of $2D$ $D_s$ to $D(2600)$ or $D(2750)$ may be large, and the numerical results are different in different assignments of $D(2600)$ and $D(2750)$. The hadronic decay widths of $2…
Exploring the hadronic phase with momentum and azimuthal distribution of short-lived resonances and understanding the internal structure of exotic resonances with ALICE
We investigate the freeze-out conditions of a particle in an expanding system of interacting particles in order to understand the productions of resonances, hadronic molecules and light nuclei in heavy ion collisions. Applying the kinetic freeze-out condition with explicit hydrodynamic calculations for the expanding hadronic phase to the daughter particles of $K^*$ mesons, we find that the larger suppression of the yield ratio of $K^*/K$ at LHC than at RHIC compared to the expectations from the statistical hadronization model based on chemical freeze-out parameters reflects the lower kinetic f…
Production of $ϕ(1020), Λ^*(1520)$ and $\bar{K^*}(892)$ resonances at the final stage of a heavy-ion collision is considered. It is shown that original momentum distributions and abundance of resonances formed during the process of heavy ion collision may differ significantly from their measured spectra and yields. Reconstruction probability of resonances decaying inside the fireball can be strongly suppressed because of interactions of their hadronic decay products in the fireball medium. We investigate dependence of the degree of the suppression on the fireball size, dynamics, and the resona…
We classify the meson and baryon long lived resonances considering quarks with electric charge 5/3 and $-4/3$ (in units of $\vert e\vert$) predicted by some 3-3-1 models. Some of these exotic resonances have the usual electric charges $0,\pm1$, others have $\pm(3,4,5)$, and the lightest ones decaying only into leptons plus known resonances. We propose another heavy $SU(3)_H$ global symmetry under which hadrons involving only exotic quarks can be constructed.
We describe a method based on precision magnetometry that can extend the search for axion-mediated spin-dependent forces by several orders of magnitude. By combining techniques used in nuclear magnetic resonance and short-distance tests of gravity, our approach can substantially improve upon current experimental limits set by astrophysics, and probe deep into the theoretically interesting regime for the Peccei-Quinn (PQ) axion. Our method is sensitive to PQ axion decay constants between 10^9 and 10^12 GeV or axion masses between 10^-6 and 10^-3 eV, independent of the cosmic axion abundance.
The hadronic vacuum polarization contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon is parametrized by using the quark-resonance model formulated in \cite{QR}. In this context a recent prediction obtained within the ENJL model \cite{RAF} can be affected by two additional contributions: the next to leading corrections in the inverse cutoff expansion and the gluonic corrections. Motivated by the necessity of reaching a highly accurate theoretical prediction of the hadronic contribution to the muon g-2, we study in detail both the effects.
Measurements of the production of short-lived hadronic resonances are used to probe the properties of the late hadronic phase in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions. Since these resonances have lifetimes comparable to that of the fireball, they are sensitive to the competing effects of particle re-scattering and regeneration in the hadronic gas, which modify the observed particle momentum distributions and yields after hadronisation. Having different masses, quantum numbers and quark content, hadronic resonances carry a wealth of information on different aspects of ion-ion collisions, incl…
We consider the contribution of scalar resonances to hadronic light-by-light scattering in the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. While the $f_0(500)$ has already been addressed in previous work using dispersion relations, heavier scalar resonances have only been estimated in hadronic models so far. Here, we compare an implementation of the $f_0(980)$ resonance in terms of the coupled-channel $S$-waves for $γ^*γ^*\to ππ/\bar K K$ to a narrow-width approximation, which indicates $a_μ^{\text{HLbL}}[f_0(980)]=-0.2(2)\times 10^{-11}$. With a similar estimate for the $a_0(980)$, the combined ef…
A large separation of scales is frequently required by theories describing physics beyond the Standard Model. In mass-split models with some massless (light) and some heavy flavors, large scale separation arises by construction if the system is conformal in the ultraviolet but chirally broken in the infrared. Due to the presence of a conformal fixed point, such chirally broken systems show hyperscaling and have a highly constrained resonance spectrum that is significantly different from the QCD spectrum. We present numerical evidence for hyperscaling of both light-light and heavy-heavy meson r…
Hadronic decays of radially excited $2D$ $D(2^3D_1)$, $D(2^3D_3)$, $D(2D_2)$ and $D(2D^\prime_2)$ have been studied in a $^3P_0$ model. All OZI-allowed decay channels of these $2D$ $D$ resonances have been given, and relevant decay widths have been calculated. $D(2550)$, $D^*(2600)$, $D(2750)$, $D^*_1(2760)$ and $D^*_3(2760)$ can be produced in hadronic decays of $D(2^3D_1)$, $D(2^3D_3)$, $D(2D_2)$ and $D(2D^\prime_2)$. In different assignments, hadronic decay widths and some relevant ratios from the $2D$ $D$ resonances to $D(2550)$, $D^*(2600)$, $D(2750)$, $D^*_1(2760)$ or $D^*_3(2760)$ final…
The properties of strange pseudoscalar and vectors mesons as well as strange baryon resonances in dense matter are reviewed. Some open questions on the properties of strange hadrons in medium are addressed, such as the experimental signatures of in-medium effects coming from the hadronic phase on the final observables in heavy-ion collisions for the experimental conditions at SIS, RHIC and LHC energies.
Charged particles $p_T$ spectra and elliptic flow in 0-60% Au+Au collisions at RHIC are analyzed in a hydrodynamic model with hot, hadronic resonance gas in the initial state. Physically conceivable hadronic resonance gas, thermalized in the time scale $τ_i$=1 fm, at a (central) temperature $T_i$=220 MeV, with viscosity to entropy ratio $η/s$=0.24, reasonably well explains $p_T$ spectra in all the collision centralities. Centrality dependence of elliptic flow however demands continual increase of viscosity to entropy ratio with centrality.
We show that if the hadronic resonance gas (HRG), with viscosity to entropy ratio $η/s\approx$0.24, is physical at temperature $T\approx$220 MeV, charged particles $p_T$ spectra and elliptic flow in Au+Au collisions at RHIC, over a wide range of collision centrality do not distinguish between initial QGP fluid and initial hadronic resonance gas. Unambiguous identification of bulk of the matter produced in Au+Au collisions require clear demonstration that HRG is unphysical at temperature $T<$200 MeV. It calls for precise lattice simulations with realistic boundary conditions.
With an effective chiral flavour SU(3) model we show the effect of hadronic resonances on the QCD phase diagram. We state that varying the resonance couplings to the scalar and vector fields affects the order and location of the phase transition, the possible existence of a critical end point (CEP), and the thermodynamic properties. We present (strange) quark number susceptibilities at zero baryochemical potential and at three different points at the phase transition. Comparing results to lattice QCD, we state that reasonable large vector couplings limit the phase transition to a smooth crosso…
We compute four-loop corrections to the hadronic decay of the Standard Model Higgs boson which are induced by effective couplings to bottom quarks and gluons, mediated by the top quark. Our numerical results are comparable in size to the purely massless contributions which have been known for a few years. The results presented in this paper complete the order $α_s^4$ corrections to the hadronic Higgs boson decay.
We predict several new exotic doubly-heavy hadronic resonances, inferring from the observed exotic bottomonium-like and charmonium-like narrow states $X(3872)$, $Z_b(10610)$, $Z_b(10650)$, $Z_c(3900)$, and $Z_c(4020/4025)$. We interpret the binding mechanism as mostly molecular-like isospin-exchange attraction between two heavy-light mesons in a relative S-wave state. We then generalize it to other systems containing two heavy hadrons which can couple through isospin exchange. The new predicted states include resonances in meson-meson, meson-baryon, baryon-baryon, and baryon-antibaryon channel…
Dilepton production from resonance scattering in hot hadronic matter is studied. Including the widths of these resonances, which enhance the phase space for dilepton production, we find that the production rate is significantly increased if a resonance appears in the extended phase space. For the reaction $π+ρ\to l^++l^-$, the finite $ρ$ meson width extends the invariant mass below the $ω$-meson mass, so a peak at the $ω$ meson mass is seen in the dilepton spectrum. Similarly, a $ρ$-meson peak appears in the reaction $ρ+ρ\to l^++l^-$. On the other hand, the effect of particle widths in the rea…
We study two and three meson decays of the tau lepton within the framework of the Resonance Chiral Theory, that is based on the following properties of QCD: its chiral symmetry in the massless case, its large-N_C limit, and the asymptotic behaviour it demands to the relevant form factors. Most of the couplings in the Lagrangian are determined this way rendering the theory predictive. Our outcomes can be tested thanks to the combination of a very good experimental effort (current and forthcoming, at B- and tau-charm-factories) and the very accurate devoted Monte Carlo generators.
We study the reaction $e^+e^-\toπ^0γ$ based on a dispersive representation of the underlying $π^0\toγγ^*$ transition form factor. As a first application, we evaluate the contribution of the $π^0γ$ channel to the hadronic-vacuum-polarization correction to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. We find $a_μ^{π^0γ}\big|_{\leq 1.35\,\text{GeV}}=43.8(6)\times 10^{-11}$, in line with evaluations from the direct integration of the data. Second, our fit determines the resonance parameters of $ω$ and $ϕ$. We observe good agreement with the $e^+e^-\to3π$ channel, explaining a previous tension in the…
The identification of problematic meson states as the members of the quark model $q\bar{q}$ nonets by using a hadronic resonance spectrum is discussed. The results favor the currently adopted $q\bar{q}$ assignments for the axial-vector, tensor, and 1 $^3F_4$ $J^{PC}=4^{++}$ meson nonets, and suggest a new $q\bar{q}$ assignment for the scalar meson nonet which favors the interpretation of the $f_0(980)$ and $f_0(1710)$ mesons as non-$q\bar{q}$ objects. We also suggest that the 2 $^3S_1$ $\frac{1}{2}(1^{-})$ state should be identified with the $K^\ast (1680)$ rather than $K^\ast (1410)$ meson.
We present a neat example of a meson--baryon system where the vicinity of two different thresholds enhances the binding of a hadronic resonance, a pentaquark. As a consequence the pattern of states may change when moving among different flavor sectors, what poses a warning on naive extrapolations to heavy flavor sectors based on systematic expansions. For this purpose we simultaneously analyze the $N\bar D$ and $NB$ two-hadron systems looking for possible bound states or resonances. When a resonance is controlled by a coupled-channel effect, going to a different flavor sector may enhance or di…
Tau decays into hadrons foresee the study of the hadronization of vector and axial-vector QCD currents, yielding relevant information on the dynamics of the resonances entering into the processes. We analyse tau -> (3 pion) nu_tau decays within the framework of the Resonance Chiral Theory, comparing this theoretical scheme with the experimental data, namely ALEPH spectral function and branching ratio. Hence we get values for the mass and on-shell width of the a_1(1260) resonance, and provide the structure functions that have been measured by OPAL and CLEO-II.
In this paper we study the influence of hadronic resonances on the phase diagram calculated with an effective chiral flavour SU(3) model. We show that varying the couplings of the baryonic resonances to the attractive scalar and the repulsive vector fields has a major impact on the order and location of the chiral phase transition and the possible existence of a critical end point as well as on the thermodynamic properties of the model. Furthermore, we study (strange) quark number fluctuations and show the related susceptibilities both at zero baryochemical potential and when crossing the phas…
We present a nucleon resonance analysis by simultaneously considering all pion- and photon-induced experimental data on the final states gamma N, pi N, 2 pi N, eta N, K Lambda, K Sigma, and omega N for energies from the nucleon mass up to sqrt(s) = 2 GeV. In this analysis we find strong evidence for the resonances P_{31}(1750), P_{13}(1900), P_{33}(1920), and D_{13}(1950). The omega N production mechanism is dominated by large P_{11}(1710) and P_{13}(1900) contributions. In this first part, we present the results of the pion-induced reactions and the extracted resonance and background properti…
We use the Interacting Instanton Liquid Model (IILM) as a tool to study the role played by the chiral interactions in the lowest-lying vector and axial vector meson resonances. We find that narrow a1 and rho meson resonances can be generated by instanton-induced chiral forces, even in the absence of confinement. In the IILM, these hadrons are found to have masses only about 30% larger than the experimental value and small width <10-50 MeV. This result suggests that chiral interactions are very important in these systems and provide most of their mass. We explore the decaying patterns of the rh…
We evaluate the contribution of scalar mesons to the hadronic light-by-light piece of the muon anomalous magnetic moment, using a warped five-dimensional model and holographic methods. We assess the contribution of the lightest, sub-GeV scalars $σ(500)$, $a_0(980)$ and $f_0(980)$ together with their associated towers of excited states, which the model generates automatically. Our results point at a clearly negative contribution, overwhelmingly dominated by the $σ(500)$ meson, that we estimate at $a_μ^{\rm{HLbL,S}}=-9(2)\cdot 10^{-11}$. This number is in very good agreement with the most recent…
Within the resonance chiral effective theory we study the dressed propagators of the spin-1 fields, as arise from a Dyson-Schwinger resummation perturbatively constructed from loop diagrams with absorptive contributions in the s-channel. We apply the procedure to the vector pion form factor and the elastic pion-pion scattering to obtain the off-shell width of the rho_0 meson. We adopt a definition of the off-shell width of spin-1 meson resonances that satisfies the requirements of analyticity, unitarity, chiral symmetry and asymptotic behaviour ruled by QCD. To fulfil these constraints the res…
In this note we present a new parametrization of the hadronic current for the decay $τ\to πππν_τ$ derived from the chiral lagrangian with explicit inclusion of resonances. We have included both scalar, vector and axial-vector resonances. For the first time, the lowest tensor resonance ($f_2(1270)$) is included as well. Both single and double-resonance contributions to the hadronic form factors are taken into account. To satisfy the correct high energy behaviour of the hadronic form factors, constraints on numerical values of the vertex constants are obtained.
In the article of V.V. Anisovich et al., Yad. Fiz. 63, 1489 (2000), the K-matrix solutions for the wave IJ^{PC}=00^{++} were obtained in the mass region 450 - 1900 MeV where four resonances f0(980), f0(1300), f0(1500), f0(1750) and the broad state f0(1530^{+90}_{-250}) are located. Based on these solutions, we determine partial widths for scalar-isoscalar states decaying into the channels pi-pi, K-anti K, eta-eta, eta-eta', pi-pi-pi-pi and corresponding decay couplings.

Tau decays into hadrons have a twofold interest: On the one hand, they are a clean environment for studying the hadronization of the left-handed current of QCD, while, on the other side, provide relevant dynamical information of the resonances that mediate these processes. Within an effective field theory-like framework, namely Resonance Chiral Theory, we analyse the decays ot the tau into K K pion modes and compare the results with CLEO and BaBar data. In this way, we provide bounds on the couplings entering our Lagrangian and predict the corresponding spectral functions. As a main result -an…
One type of dynamical generation consists in the formation of multiple hadronic resonances from single seed states by incorporating hadronic loop contributions on the level of $s$-wave propagators. Along this line, we study the propagator poles within two models of scalar resonances and report on the status of our work: (i) Using a simple quantum field theory describing the decay of $f_{0}(500)$ into two pions, we may obtain a second, additional pole on the first Riemann sheet below the pion-pion threshold (i.e., a stable state can emerge). (ii) We perform a numerical study of the pole(s) of $…
The spectrum of hadronic resonances continually receives updates from the Particle Data Group, which lists every state with a status representing how established the state is. Moreover, the existence of additional states is predicted by relativistic quark models. It has been suggested that further states might need to be included in the hadronic spectrum in order to improve the agreement between the hadron resonance gas model predictions and lattice QCD data. Such an inclusion would also affect the results of many areas of heavy-ion collision physics that make use of hadronic degrees of freedo…
We suggest using the half-width rule to make an estimate of the 1/Nc errors in hadronic models containing resonances. We show simple consequences ranging from the analysis of meson Regge trajectories, the hadron resonance gas at finite temperature and generalized hadronic form factors.
In a finite volume, resonances and multi-hadron states are identified by discrete energy levels. When comparing the results of lattice QCD calculations to scattering experiments, it is important to have a way of associating the energy spectrum of the finite-volume lattice with the asymptotic behaviour of the S-matrix. A new technique for comparing energy eigenvalues with scattering phase shifts is introduced, which involves the construction of an exactly solvable matrix Hamiltonian model. The model framework is applied to the case of $Δ\rightarrow Nπ$ decay, but is easily generalized to includ…
Detailed knowledge of the hadronic spectrum is still an open question, which has phenomenological consequences on the study of heavy-ion collisions. A previous lattice QCD study concluded that additional strange resonances are missing in the currently tabulated lists provided by the Particle Data Group (PDG). That study identified the list labeled PDG2016+ as the ideal spectrum to be used as an input in thermal-model-based analyses. In this work, we determine the effect of additional resonances on the freeze-out parameters of systems created in heavy-ion collisions. These parameters are obtain…
Several methods for studying the nature of a resonance are applied to resonances recently discovered in the bottonomium and charmonium sectors. We employ the effective-range expansion, the saturation of the width and compositeness of a resonance, as well as direct fits to data. The latter stem from generic $S$-matrix parameterization that account for relevant dynamical features associated to channels that couple strongly in an energy region around the resonance masses, in which their thresholds also lie. We report on results obtained with these methods for the resonances $Z_b(10610)$, $Z_b(106…
The QCD equation of state at zero baryon chemical potential is the only element of the standard dynamical framework to describe heavy ion collisions that can be directly determined from first principles. Continuum extrapolated lattice QCD equations of state have been computed using 2+1 quark flavors (up/down and strange) as well as 2+1+1 flavors to investigate the effect of thermalized charm quarks on QCD thermodynamics. Lattice results have also indicated the presence of new strange resonances that not only contribute to the equation of state of QCD matter but also affect hadronic afterburner…
The proper description of hadronic decays of baryon resonances has been a long standing problem in soliton models for baryons. In this talk I present a solution to this problem in the three flavor Skyrme model that is consistent with large-Nc consistency conditions. As an application I discuss hadronic pentaquark decays and show that predictions based on axial current matrix elements are erroneous.
We estimate the transport coefficients like shear and bulk viscosities of hot hadronic matter in van der Walls hadron resonance gas ( VDW HRG ) model in the relaxation time approximation. We also have compared these results with excluded volume hadron resonance ( EV HRG ) calculations. $η/s$ decreases as the temperature of the hadronic system increases at a fixed baryon chemical potential. $η/s$ in VDW HRG is always less than that of EV HRG case due to the large entropy density in VDW HRG compared to EV HRG case. At a fixed chemical potential, $ζ/s$ in VDW HRG is also less than that of EV HRG …
