From a previous paper where we proposed a description of general relativity within the gravito-electromagnetic limit, we propose an alternative modified gravitational theory. As in the former version, we analyze the vector and tensor equations of motion, the gravitational continuity equation, the conservation of the energy, the energy-momentum tensor, the field tensor, and the constraints concerning these fields. The Lagrangian formulation is also exhibited as an unified and simple formulation that will be useful for future investigation.
The paper contains a discussion of the properties of the gravito-magnetic interaction in non stationary conditions. A direct deduction of the equivalent of Faraday-Henry law is given. A comparison is made between the gravito-magnetic and the electro-magnetic induction, and it is shown that there is no Meissner-like effect for superfluids in the field of massive spinning bodies. The impossibility of stationary motions in directions not along the lines of the gravito-magnetic field is found. Finally the results are discussed in relation with the behavior of superconductors.
This work is focused on the theory of Gravitoelectromagnetism (GEM). In the first part of this work we present a brief review of gravitoelectromagnetism, we locate and discuss all the problems which appear in this approach. We also try to avoid these problems by proposing new approaches in which we use the additional degrees of freedom of the gravitational field. In the second part of this work, we review our previous work regarding the construction of a tensorial theory, using the formalism of General Relativity, which aims to describe the true electromagnetism. We also extend this theory in …
We deal with the gravitational theory relevant to gravito-electromagnetism (GEM) exactly. It is shown that the theory can be decomposed in terms of two sectors of Abelian gauge field theories. The two sectors dominate the whole action in an inverse way, showing a sign of strong-weak duality.
Using the weak field approximation, we can express the theory of general relativity in a Maxwell-type structure comparable to electromagnetism. We find that every electromagnetic field is coupled to a gravitoelectric and gravitomagnetic field. Acknowledging the fact that both fields originate from the same source, the particle, we can express the magnetic and electric field through their gravitational respective analogues using the proportionality coefficient k. This coefficient depends on the ratio of mass and charge and the ratio between the electromagnetic and gravitic-gravitomagnetic permi…
A tensor description of perturbative Einsteinian gravity about an arbitrary background spacetime is developed. By analogy with the covariant laws of electromagnetism in spacetime, gravito-electromagnetic potentials and fields are defined to emulate electromagnetic gauge transformations under substitutions belonging to the gauge symmetry group of perturbative gravitation. These definitions have the advantage that on a flat background, with the aid of a covariantly constant timelike vector field, a subset of the linearised gravitational field equations can be written in a form that is fully anal…
Gravito-electromagnetism is somewhat ubiquitous in relativity. In fact, there are many situations where the effects of gravitation can be described by formally introducing "gravito-electric" and "gravito-magnetic" fields, starting from the corresponding potentials, in analogy with the electromagnetic theory (see also A. Tartaglia's contribution to these proceedings). The "many faces of gravito-electromagnetism" are related to rotation effects in both approximated and full theory approaches. Here we show that, by using a 1+3 splitting, relativistic dynamics can be described in terms of gravito-…
We develop and apply a fully covariant 1+3 electromagnetic analogy for gravity. The free gravitational field is covariantly characterized by the Weyl gravito-electric and gravito-magnetic spatial tensor fields, whose dynamical equations are the Bianchi identities. Using a covariant generalization of spatial vector algebra and calculus to spatial tensor fields, we exhibit the covariant analogy between the tensor Bianchi equations and the vector Maxwell equations. We identify gravitational source terms, couplings and potentials with and without electromagnetic analogues. The nonlinear vacuum Bia…
In this work, we focus on the theory of Gravito-Electromagnetism (GEM) -- the theory that describes the dynamics of the gravitational field in terms of quantities met in Electromagnetism -- and we propose two novel forms of metric perturbations. The first one is a generalisation of the traditional GEM ansatz, and succeeds in reproducing the whole set of Maxwell's equations even for a dynamical vector potential A. The second form, the so-called alternative ansatz, goes beyond that leading to an expression for the Lorentz force that matches the one of Electromagnetism and is free of additional t…
The long-range gravitational terms associated with tidal forces, frame-dragging effects, and gravitational waves are described by the Weyl conformal tensor, the traceless part of the Riemann curvature that is not locally affected by the matter field. The Ricci and Bianchi identities provide a set of dynamical and kinematic equations governing the matter coupling and evolution of the electric and magnetic parts of the Weyl tensor, so-called gravitoelectric and gravitomagnetic fields. A detailed analysis of the Weyl gravitoelectromagnetic fields can be conducted using a number of algebraic and d…
The discrepancy between the results of covariant and non-covariant one-loop calculations for higher-spin fields in quantum cosmology is analyzed. A detailed mode-by-mode study of perturbative quantum gravity about a flat Euclidean background bounded by two concentric 3-spheres, including non-physical degrees of freedom and ghost modes, leads to one-loop amplitudes in agreement with the covariant Schwinger-DeWitt method. This calculation provides the generalization of a previous analysis of fermionic fields and electromagnetic fields at one-loop about flat Euclidean backgrounds admitting a well…
The assumption that matter charges and currents could generate fields, which are called, by analogy with electromagnetism, gravitoeletric and gravitomagnetic fields, dates from the origins of General Relativity (GR). On the other hand, the Teleparallel Equivalent of GR (TEGR), as a gauge theory, seems to be the ideal scenario to define these fields, based on the gauge field strength components. The purpose of the present work is to investigate the nature of the gravitational electric and magnetic fields in the context of the TEGR, where the tetrad formalism behind it seems to be more appropria…
Analogies between gravitation and electromagnetism have been known since the 1950s. Here, we examine a fairly general type D solution---the exact seven parameter solution of Plebański--Demiański (PD)---to demonstrate these analogies for a physically meaningful spacetime: The two quadratic curvature invariants $\bf{B}^2-\bf{E}^2$ and $\bf{E}\cdot\bf{B}$ are evaluated analytically. In the asymptotically flat case, the leading terms of $\bf{E}$ and $\bf{B}$ can be interpreted as gravitoelectric mass and gravitoelectric current of the PD solution, respectively, if there are no gravitomagnetic mono…
Extreme-mass-ratio inspirals (EMRIs) are important sources for space-borne gravitational-wave (GW) detectors. Such a source normally consists of a stellar-mass black hole (BH) and a Kerr supermassive BH (SMBH), but recent astrophysical models predict that the small body could also be a stellar-mass binary BH (BBH). A BBH reaching several gravitational radii of a SMBH will induce rich observable signatures in the waveform, but the current numerical tools are insufficient to simulate such a triple system while capturing the essential relativistic effects. Here we solve the problem by studying th…
We discuss the linear gravitoelectromagnetic approach used to solve Einstein equations in the weak-field and slow-motion approximation, which is a powerful tool to explain, by analogy with electromagnetism, several gravitational effects in the Solar System, where the approximation holds true. In particular, we discuss the analogy according to which Einstein equations can be written as Maxwell-like equations and focus on the definition of the gravitoelectromagnetic fields in non stationary conditions. Furthermore, we examine to what extent, starting from a given solution of Einstein equations, …
A generally covariant four-dimensional representation of Maxwell's electrodynamics in a generic material medium can be achieved straightforwardly in the metric-free formulation of electromagnetism. In this setup, the electromagnetic phenomena described by two tensor fields, which satisfy Maxwell's equations. A generic tensorial constitutive relation between these fields is an independent ingredient of the theory. By use of different constitutive relations (local and non-local, linear and non-linear, etc.), a wide area of applications can be covered. In the current paper, we present the jump co…
In this paper, considering the linearized Einstein equation with a two-parameter family of linear covariant gauges in de Sitter spacetime, we examine possible vacuum states for the gravitons field with respect to invariance under the de Sitter group $SO_0(1,4)$. Our calculations explicitly reveal that there exists no natural de Sitter-invariant vacuum state (the Euclidean state) for the gravitons field. Indeed, on the foundation of a rigorous group theoretical reasoning, we prove that if one insists on full covariance as well as causality for the theory, has to give up the positivity requireme…
In this paper, the two-point function of linearized gravitons on de Sitter (dS) space is presented. Technically, respecting the dS ambient space notation, the field equation is given by the coordinate-independent Casimir operators of the de Sitter group. Analogous to the quantization of the electromagnetic field in Minkowski space, the field equation admits gauge solutions. The notation allows us to exhibit the formalism of Gupta-Bleuler triplets for the present field in exactly the same manner as it occurs for the electromagnetic field. In this regard, centering on the spin-two part (the trac…
Traditional derivations of general relativity from the graviton degrees of freedom assume space-time Lorentz covariance as an axiom. In this essay, we survey recent evidence that general relativity is the unique spatially-covariant effective field theory of the transverse, traceless graviton degrees of freedom. The Lorentz covariance of general relativity, having not been assumed in our analysis, is thus plausibly interpreted as an accidental or emergent symmetry of the gravitational sector. From this point of view, Lorentz covariance is a necessary feature of low-energy graviton dynamics, not…
We present a general model of interacting metric fields with the sum of massless non-interacting spin 2 fields as the linear limit. In the non-interacting limit the model is reduced to a sum of general relativity actions, with the usual Einstein-Hilbert kinetic term for each metric field. Until now the accepted view was that such theories are inconsistent since it has been proven that ghost terms and/or discontinuity in the number of degrees of freedom at the zero interaction limit, are unavoidable. We do not refute these results, but instead prove by construction that they do not necessarily …
Using a covariant embedding formalism, we find the effective field equations for the Electromagnetism that emerge on branes in the context of Dvali-Gabadadze-Porrati (DGP) braneworld scenario. Our treatment is essentially geometrical. We start with Maxwell equations in five-dimensions and project them into an arbitrary brane. The formalism is quite general and allows us to consider curved bulk spaces and curved branes whose tension is not necessarily null. The kinetic electromagnetic term induced on the world volume of the brane, proper of DGP models, is incorporated in this formulation by mea…
In 2008-2009, F. Costa and C. Herdeiro proposed a new gravito-electromagnetic analogy, based on tidal tensors. We show that connections on the tangent bundle of the space-time manifold can help not only in finding a covnenient geometrization of their ideas, but also a common mathematical description of the main equations of gravity and electromagnetism.
We propose a new approach to a physical analogy between General Relativity and Electromagnetism, based on tidal tensors of both theories. Using this approach we write a covariant form for the gravitational analogues of the Maxwell equations. The following realisations of the analogy are given. The first one matches linearised gravitational tidal tensors to exact electromagnetic tidal tensors in Minkwoski spacetime. The second one matches exact magnetic gravitational tidal tensors for ultra-stationary metrics to exact magnetic tidal tensors of electromagnetism in curved spaces. In the third we …
Linearized general relativity admits a formulation in terms of gravitoelectric and gravitomagnetic fields that closely parallels the description of the electromagnetic field by Maxwell's equations. For steady mass currents, this formalism has been used to understand gravitomagnetic effects like the Lense-Thirring dragging of inertial frames. For time-varying mass-energy currents, the analog of Faraday's law suggests new effects based on the gravitational equivalent of a transformer where such currents take the place of electrical currents. New experimental possibilities are suggested including…
The solution to the linearized Einstein equation in de Sitter (dS) spacetime and the corresponding two-point function are explicitly written down in a gauge with two parameters `$a$' and `$b$'. The quantization procedure, independent of the choice of the coordinate system, is based on a rigorous group theoretical approach. Our result takes the form of a universal spin-two (transverse-traceless) sector and a gauge-dependent spin-zero (pure-trace) sector. Scalar equations are derived for the structure functions of each part. We show that the spin-two sector can be written as the resulting action…
In a recent paper (Phys. Rev. D78, 084031 (2008), arXiv:0808.0642, Ref. [1]) it was shown in examples that the covariant retarded Green's functions in particular gauges for electromagnetism and linearized gravity can be used to reproduce field configurations correctly in spite of the spacelike nature of past infinity in de Sitter spacetime. In this paper we extend the work of Ref. [1] concerning the electromagnetic field and show that the covariant retarded Green's function with an arbitrary value of the gauge parameter reproduces the electromagnetic field from two opposite charges at antipoda…
We develop a hydrodynamic representation of the Klein-Gordon-Maxwell-Einstein equations. These equations combine quantum mechanics, electromagnetism, and general relativity. We consider the case of an arbitrary curved spacetime, the case of weak gravitational fields in a static or expanding background, and the nonrelativistic (Newtonian) limit. The Klein-Gordon-Maxwell-Einstein equations govern the evolution of a complex scalar field, possibly describing self-gravitating Bose-Einstein condensates, coupled to an electromagnetic field. They may find applications in the context of dark matter, bo…
The Bel and Bel-Robinson tensors were introduced nearly fifty years ago in an attempt to generalize to gravitation the energy-momentum tensor of electromagnetism. This generalization was successful from the mathematical point of view because these tensors share mathematical properties which are remarkably similar to those of the energy-momentum tensor of electromagnetism. However, the physical role of these tensors in General Relativity has remained obscure and no interpretation has achieved wide acceptance. In principle, they cannot represent {\em energy} and the term {\em superenergy} has be…
We show that there are no vacuum solutions with a purely magnetic Weyl tensor with respect to an observer submitted to kinematic restrictions involving first order differential scalars. This result generalizes previous ones for the vorticity-free and shear-free cases. We use a covariant approach which makes evident that only the Bianchi identities are used and, consequently, the results are also valid for non vacuum solutions with vanishing Cotton tensor.
We find a near detailed balance solution to the relativistic Boltzmann equation under the relaxation time approximation with a collision term which differs from the Anderson-Witting model and is dependent on the stationary observer. Using this new solution, we construct an explicit covariant transport equation for the particle flux in response to the generalized temperature and chemical potential gradients in generic stationary spacetimes, with the transport tensors characterized by some integral functions in the chemical potential and the relativistic coldness. To illustrate the application o…
The effects of Horava-Lifshitz corrections to the gravito-magnetic field are analyzed. Solutions in the weak field, slow motion limit, referring to the motion of a satellite around the Earth are considered. The post-newtonian paradigm is used to evaluate constraints on the Horava-Lifshitz parameter space from current satellite and terrestrial experiments data. In particular, we focus on GRAVITY PROBE B, LAGEOS and the more recent LARES mission, as well as a forthcoming terrestrial project, GINGER.
We reexamine and further develop different gravito-electromagnetic (GEM) analogies found in the literature, and clarify the connection between them. Special emphasis is placed in two exact physical analogies: the analogy based on inertial fields from the so-called "1+3 formalism", and the analogy based on tidal tensors. Both are reformulated, extended and generalized. We write in both formalisms the Maxwell and the full exact Einstein field equations with sources, plus the algebraic Bianchi identities, which are cast as the source-free equations for the gravitational field. New results within …
This is the third in a series of papers which considers first-order gauge-invariant and covariant gravitational perturbations to locally rotationally symmetric (LRS) class II space-times. In this paper we complete our analysis of the first-order gravito-electromagnetic (GEM) system by showing how to derive three decoupled equations governing the GEM scalar fields. One of these is for the gravito-magnetic scalar, whereas another two arise from the 2-gradient of the gravito-electric scalar.
The similarities between linearized gravity and electromagnetism are known since the early days of General Relativity. Using an exact approach based on tidal tensors, we show that such analogy holds only on very special conditions and depends crucially on the reference frame. This places restrictions on the validity of the "gravito-electromagnetic" equations commonly found in the literature.
We obtain the fully covariant linearized field equations for the metric perturbation in the de Rham-Gabadadze-Tolley (dRGT) ghost free massive gravities. For a subset of these theories, we show that the non dynamical metric that appears in the dRGT setup can be completely eliminated leading to the theory of a massive graviton moving in a single metric. This has a mass term which contains non trivial contributions of the space-time curvature. We show further how 5 covariant constraints can be obtained including one which leads to the tracelessness of the graviton on flat space-time and removes …
In the first part of the present work, we focus on the theory of gravitoelectromagnetism (GEM), and we derive the full set of equations and constraints that the GEM scalar and vector potentials ought to satisfy. We discuss important aspects of the theory, such as the presence of additional constraints resulting from the field equations and gauge condition, the requirement of the time-independence of the vector potential and the emergence of additional terms in the expression of the Lorentz force. We also propose an alternative ansatz for the metric perturbations that is found to be compatible …
We give a systematic treatment of a spin 1/2 particle in a combined electromagnetic field and a weak gravitational field that is produced by a slowly moving matter source. This paper continues previous work on a spin zero particle, but it is largely self-contained and may serve as an introduction to spinors in a Riemann space. The analysis is based on the Dirac equation expressed in generally covariant form and coupled minimally to the electromagnetic field. The restriction to a slowly moving matter source, such as the earth, allows us to describe the gravitational field by a gravitoelectric (…
We demonstrate in examples that the covariant retarded Green's functions in electromagnetism and linearized gravity work as expected in de Sitter spacetime. We first clarify how retarded Green's functions should be used in spacetimes with spacelike past infinity such as de Sitter spacetime. In particular, we remind the reader of a general formula which gives the field for given initial data on a Cauchy surface and a given source (a charge or stress-energy tensor distribution) in its future. We then apply this formula to three examples: (i) electromagnetism in the future of a Cauchy surface in …
Recently, Horava and Melby-Thompson proposed in arXiv:1007.2410 a nonrelativistic gravity theory with extended gauge symmetry that is free of the spin-0 graviton. We propose a minimal substitution recipe to implement this extended gauge symmetry which reproduce the results obtained by them. Our prescription has the advantage of being manifestly gauge invariant and immediately generalizable to other fields, like matter. We briefly discuss the coupling of gravity with scalar and vector fields found by our method. We show also that the extended gauge invariance in gravity does not force the value…
We present a covariant nonlinear completion of the Fierz-Pauli (FP) mass term for the graviton. The starting observation is that the FP mass is immediately obtained by expanding the cosmological constant term, i.e. the determinant of the vielbein, around Minkowski space to second order in the vielbein perturbations. Since this is an unstable expansion in the standard case, we consider an extended theory of gravity which describes two vielbeins that give rise to chiral spin--connections (consequently, fermions of a definite chirality only couple to one of the gravitational sectors). As for Eins…
We quantise the massless vector potential A of electromagnetism in the presence of a classical electromagnetic (background) current, j, in a generally covariant way on arbitrary globally hyperbolic spacetimes M. By carefully following general principles and procedures we clarify a number of topological issues. First we combine the interpretation of A as a connection on a principal U(1)-bundle with the perspective of general covariance to deduce a physical gauge equivalence relation, which is intimately related to the Aharonov-Bohm effect. By Peierls' method we subsequently find a Poisson brack…
We give a systematic treatment of the quantum mechanics of a spin zero particle in a combined electromagnetic field and a weak gravitational field, which is produced by a slow moving matter source. The analysis is based on the Klein-Gordon equation expressed in generally covariant form and coupled minimally to the electromagnetic field. The Klein-Gordon equation is recast into Schroedinger equation form (SEF), which we then analyze in the non-relativistic limit. We include a discussion of some rather general observable physical effects implied by the SEF, concentrating on gravitomagnetism. Of …
The metric-affine Lagrangian of Ponomarev and Obukhov for the unified gravitational and electromagnetic field is linear in the Ricci scalar and quadratic in the tensor of homothetic curvature. We apply to this Lagrangian the variational principle with the tetrad and spin connection as dynamical variables and show that, in this approach, the field equations are the Einstein-Maxwell equations if we relate the electromagnetic potential to the trace of the spin connection. We also show that, as in the Ponomarev-Obukhov formulation, the generally covariant Dirac Lagrangian gives rise to the standar…
The origin of large-scale magnetic fields in cosmic structures and the intergalactic medium is still poorly understood. We explore the effects of non-minimal couplings of electromagnetism on the cosmological evolution of currents and magnetic fields. In this context, we revisit the mildly non-linear plasma dynamics around recombination that are known to generate weak magnetic fields. We use the covariant approach to obtain a fully general and non-linear evolution equation for the plasma currents and derive a generalised Ohm law valid on large scales as well as in the presence of non-minimal co…
We study spherically symmetric solutions of the cubic covariant Galileon model in curved spacetime in presence of a matter source, in the test scalar field approximation. We show that a cosmological time evolution of the Galileon field gives rise to an induced matter-scalar coupling, due to the Galileon-graviton kinetic braiding, therefore the solution for the Galileon field is non trivial even if the bare matter-scalar coupling constant is set to zero. The local solution crucially depends on the asymptotic boundary conditions, and in particular, Minkowski and de Sitter asymptotics correspond …
Let X be a smooth manifold of dimension 1+n endowed with a lorentzian metric g, and let T be the electromagnetic energy tensor associated to a 2-form F. In this paper we characterize this tensor T as the only 2-covariant natural tensor associated to a lorentzian metric and a 2-form that is independent of the unit of scale and satisfies certain condition on its divergence. This characterization is motivated on physical grounds, and can be used to justify the Einstein-Maxwell field equations. More generally, we characterize in a similar manner the energy tensor associated to a differential form …
The Einstein field equations in linear post-Newtonian approximation can be written in analogy with electromagnetism, in the so-called gravito-electromagnetic formalism. We use this analogy to study the gravitational field of a massive ring: in particular, we consider a continuous mass distribution on Keplerian orbit around a central body, and we work out the gravitational field generated by this mass distribution in the intermediate zone between the central body and the ring, focusing on the gravito-magnetic component that originates from the rotation of the ring. In doing so, we generalize an…
We discuss Stueckelberg massive electromagnetism on an arbitrary four-dimensional curved spacetime (gauge invariance of the classical theory and covariant quantization, wave equations for the massive spin-1 field $A_μ$, for the auxiliary Stueckelberg scalar field $Φ$ and for the ghost fields $C$ and $C^\ast$, Ward identities, Hadamard representation of the various Feynman propagators and covariant Taylor series expansions of the corresponding coefficients). This permits us to construct, for a Hadamard quantum state, the expectation value of the renormalized stress-energy tensor associated with…
The electromagnetic hopfion (EM hopfion) is a topologically nontrivial solution to the vacuum Maxwell equations with the property that any two field lines belonging to either the electric, magnetic, or Poynting vector fields (EBS fields) are closed and linked exactly once. The most striking and characteristic feature of this peculiar field configuration is the existence of an exceptional constant-time hyperplane wherein the EBS fields are tangent to three orthogonal Hopf fibrations. Using twistor methods we find the spin-$N$ generalization of the EM hopfion. Furthermore, we analyze the spin-2 …
The quantum field theoretic description of general relativity is a modern approach to gravity where gravitational force is carried by spin-2 gravitons. In the classical limit of this theory, general relativity as described by the Einstein field equations is obtained. This limit, where classical general relativity is derived from quantum field theory is the topic of this thesis. The Schwarzschild-Tangherlini metric, which describes the gravitational field of an inertial point particle in arbitrary space-time dimensions, $D$, is analyzed. The metric is related to the three-point vertex function …
In the framework of generally covariant (pre-metric) electrodynamics (``charge & flux electrodynamics''), the Maxwell equations can be formulated in terms of the electromagnetic excitation $H=({\cal D}, {\cal H})$ and the field strength $F=(E,B)$. If the spacetime relation linking $H$ and $F$ is assumed to be {\em linear}, the electromagnetic properties of (vacuum) spacetime are encoded into 36 components of the vacuum constitutive tensor density $χ$. We study the propagation of electromagnetic waves and find that the metric of spacetime emerges eventually from the principal part $^{(1)}χ$ of …
We formulate Lorentz-covariant classical perturbation theory to deal with relativistic bremsstrahlung under gravitational scattering. Our approach is a version of the fast motion approximation scheme, the main novelty being the use of the momentum space representation. Using it we calculate in a closed form the spectrum of scalar, electromagnetic and gravitational radiation. Our results for the total emitted energy agree with those by Thorne and Kovacs. We also explain why the method of equivalent gravitons fails to produce the correct result for the spectral-angular distribution of emitted ra…
It is well known that a covariant Lagrangian for relativistic charged particles can lead to a vanishing Hamiltonian. Alternatively, it is shown that using a "space+time" Lagrangian leads to a new canonical momentum and minimal coupling rule that describes the coupling of both electromagnetic and gravitational fields to a relativistic charged particle. Discrepancies between Hamiltonians obtained by various authors are resolved. The canonical momentum leads to a new form of the London equations and London gauge. Using the linearized Einstein field equation in harmonic coordinates, and a non-rela…
We formulate higher derivative gravity with Lagrange multiplier constraint and scalar projectors. Its gauge-fixed formulation as well as vector fields formulation is developed and corresponding spontaneous Lorentz symmetry breaking is investigated. We show that the only propagating mode is higher derivative graviton while scalar and vector modes do not propagate. Despite to higher derivatives structure of the action, its first FRW equation is the first order differential equation which admits the inflationary universe solution.
We introduce the Gauge Vector-Tensor (GVT) theory by extending the AQUAL's approach to the GravitoElectroMagnetism (GEM) approximation of gravity. GVT is a generally covariant theory of gravity composed of a pseudo Riemannian metric and two U(1) gauge connections that reproduces MOND in the limit of very weak gravitational fields while remains consistent with the Einstein-Hilbert gravity in the limit of strong and Newtonian gravitational fields. GVT also provides a simple framework to study the GEM approximation to gravity. We illustrate that the gravitomagnetic force at the edge of a galaxy c…
