In this paper, we consider the mimetic gravitational theory to derive a novel category of anisotropic star models. To end and to put the resulting differential equations into a closed system, the form of the metric potential $g_{rr}$ as used by Tolman (Tolman 1939) is assumed as well as a linear form of the equation-of-state. The resulting energy-momentum components, energy-density, and radial and tangential pressures contain five constants; three of these are determined through the junction condition, matching the interior with the exterior Schwarzschild solution the fourth is constrained by the vanishing of the radial pressure on the boundary and the fifth is constrained by a real compact star. The physical acceptability of our model is tested using the data of the pulsar 4U 1820-30. The stability of this model is evaluated using the Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff equation and the adiabatic index and it is shown to be stable. Finally, our model is challenged with other compact stars demonstrating that it is consistent with those stars.
We consider a mimetic set up in which the mimetic scalar is coupled to a vector field. It is shown that such a field with a time-like component does not contribute to the background equations and yet produces healthy isocurvature perturbations with respect to ghost and gradient instabilities in spite of the absence of any propagating curvature perturbations at the level of the quadratic action. We then consider a vector field with space-like components which leads to an anisotropic Bianchi universe and show that the ghost and gradient instabilities are absent in the limit of high momenta and t…
In this paper, we study the structure and gravitational resonances of thick branes generated by a mimetic scalar field in $f(R)$ gravity. We obtain several typical thick brane solutions for $f(R)=R+αR^2$. To study their stability, we analyze the tensor perturbation of the metric. It is shown that any thick brane model with $df/dR>0$ is stable and the graviton zero mode can be localized on the brane for each solution, which indicates that the four-dimensional Newtonian gravity can be restored. The effect of the parameter $α$ on the gravitational resonances is studied. As a brane splits into mul…
In this paper, we employ the {\bf mimetic-like} field equations coupled with the Lagrange multiplier and %mimetic {\bf potential} to derive non-trivial spherically symmetric black hole (BH) solutions. We divided this study into three cases: The first one in which we take the Lagrange multiplier and %mimetic {\bf the potential} to have vanishing value and derive a BH solution that completely coincides with the BH of the Einstein general relativity despite the non-vanishing value of the {\bf mimetic-like scalar field}. The first case is completely consistent with the previous studies in the lite…
In this work, we investigate gravitational resonances in both single and double mimetic thick branes, which can provide a new way to detect the extra dimension. For the single brane model, we apply the relative probability proposed in [Phys. Rev. D. 80 (2009) 065019]. For the double brane model, we investigate the resonances quasi-localized on the double brane, on the sub-branes and between the sub-branes, respectively. To investigate the resonances quasi-localized on the double brane, we introduce two different definitions of the relative probability and find that the corresponding mass spect…
We construct several new classes of black hole (BH) solutions in the context of the mimetic Euler-Heisenberg theory. We separately derive three differently charged BH solutions and their relevant mimetic forms. We show that the asymptotic form of all BH solutions behaves like a flat spacetime. These BHs, either with/without cosmological constant, have the non constant Ricci scalar, due to the contribution of the Euler-Heisenberg parameter, which means that they are not solution to standard or mimetic $f(R)$ gravitational theory without the Euler-Heisenberg non-linear electrodynamics and at the…
The recent observation of the the gravitational wave event GW170817 and of its electromagnetic counterpart GRB170817A, from a binary neutron star merger, has established that the speed of gravitational waves deviates from the speed of light by less than one part in $10^{15}$. As a consequence, many extensions of General Relativity are inevitably ruled out. Among these we find the most relevant sectors of Horndeski gravity. In its original formulation, mimetic gravity is able to mimic cosmological dark matter, has tensorial perturbations that travel exactly at the speed of light but has vanishi…
We derive the most general mimetic scalar-tensor theory assuming a healthy "seed" action and accounting for the constraints on the speed of gravitational-wave propagation arising from the GW170817 event. By analysing linear perturbations around a flat FLRW background in this model, we obtain a suitable form of the Poisson equation, which allows us to calculate the effective gravitational constant felt by "ordinary" matter. By restricting to a minimally coupled model, such an effective gravitational constant is equivalent to that obtained within General Relativity, with cold dark matter plus a …
The existence of dark matter and dark energy in cosmology is implied by various observations, however, they are still unclear because they have not been directly detected. In this Letter, an unified model of dark energy and dark matter that can explain the evolution history of the Universe later than inflationary era, the time evolution of the growth rate function of the matter density contrast, the flat rotation curves of the spiral galaxies, and the gravitational experiments in the solar system is proposed in mimetic matter model.

Recently, an interesting gravitational model was proposed in order to mimic the effect of Dark Matter. Chamseddine and Mukhanov in the arXiv preprint 1308.5410 have separated the conformal mode of a physical metric in the form of a squared gradient of an auxiliary scalar field. Notably, the variational principle has given a more general equation of motion than that of purely Einsteinian relativity theory, with a possibility of reproducing an effective Dark Matter. In this short paper, we explain the nature of this phenomenon in terms of the class of functions on which the variation takes place…
The free Dirac equation is solved in a Bianchi Type I space-time, which represents a homogeneous but anisotropic universe, to show the creation of fermionic particles. It is found that unlike in the isotropic case, massless fermion production is possible. An estimate of the energy density of massless particles created during an early anisotropic phase of cosmological expansion is shown to cause substantial back-reaction on the gravitational field. The potential relevance to dark matter particle production, primordial magnetogenesis, and early universe cosmology is discussed briefly.
In this paper, we have considered a toy model of an anisotropic universe and studied the propagation of gravitational waves in such a universe. The consideration of this toy model simplifies the analysis and helps us to illustrate the effects of anisotropy. Incorporating linear perturbations on this anisotropic background, we have considered the synchronous, transverse, traceless gauge conditions and evaluated the perturbations of the Ricci tensor. The energy-momentum tensor is that of a perfect fluid, for which the Einstein's field equations are determined in presence of perturbations. We arr…
We show that in the anisotropic Hořava-Lifshitz gravity there is a well-defined wave zone where the physical degrees of freedom propagate according to a non-relativistic linear evolution equation of high order in spatial derivatives, which reduces to the wave equation at low energy. This is so, provided the coupling parameters satisfy some restrictions which we study in detail. They are imposed to obtain a finite ADM gravitational energy, which depends manifestly on the terms which break the Lorentz symmetry of the formulation. The analysis we perform is beyond the linearized approach and incl…
Simple generic extensions of isotropic Durgapal--Fuloria stars to the anisotropic domain are presented. These anisotropic solutions are obtained by guided minimal deformations over a self gravitating isotropic system. When the isotropic and the anisotropic sector interacts in a purely gravitational manner, the conditions to decouple both sectors by means of the minimal geometric deformation approach are satisfied. Hence the anisotropic field equations are isolated resulting a more treatable set. The simplicity of the equations allows one to manipulate the anisotropies that can be implemented i…
We show the first simple, systematic and direct approach to decoupling gravitational sources in general relativity. As a direct application, a robust and simple way to generate anisotropic solutions for self-gravitating systems from perfect fluid solutions is presented.
We make precise the heretofore ambiguous statement that anisotropic stress is a sign of a modification of gravity. We show that in cosmological solutions of very general classes of models extending gravity --- all scalar-tensor theories (Horndeski), Einstein-Aether models and bimetric massive gravity --- a direct correspondence exists between perfect fluids apparently carrying anisotropic stress and a modification in the propagation of gravitational waves. Since the anisotropic stress can be measured in a model-independent manner, a comparison of the behavior of gravitational waves from cosmol…
The present work deals with dynamics of gravitational collapse with cylindrical symmetry as developed by Misner and Sharp. The interior collapsing anisotropic cylindrical perfect fluid is matched to an exterior vacuum cylindrically symmetric space-time due to Einstein--Rosen using the Darmois matching conditions. It is found that the radial pressure of the anisotropic perfect fluid is non-zero on the boundary surface and is related to the components of shear viscosity. As a result, there is formation of gravitational waves outside the collapsing matter.
Durgapal's fifth isotropic solution describing spherically symmetric and static matter distribution is extended to an anisotropic scenario. To do so we employ the gravitational decoupling through the minimal geometric deformation scheme. This approach allows to split Einstein's field equations in two simply set of equations, one corresponding to the isotropic sector and other to the anisotropic sector described by an extra gravitational source. The isotropic sector is solved by the Dugarpal's model and the anisotropic sector is solved once a suitable election on the minimal geometric deformati…
We investigate the extension of isotropic interior solutions for static self-gravitating systems to include the effects of anisotropic spherically symmetric gravitational sources by means of the gravitational decoupling realised via the minimal geometric deformation approach. In particular, the matching conditions at the star surface with the outer Schwarzschild space-time are studied in great details, and we describe how to generate, from a single physically acceptable isotropic solution, new families of anisotropic solutions whose physical acceptability is also inherited from their isotropic…
We reveal the universality of short-term anisotropic inflation. As a demonstration, we study inflation with an exponential type gauge kinetic function which is ubiquitous in models obtained by dimensional reduction from higher dimensional fundamental theory. It turns out that an anisotropic inflation universally takes place in the later stage of conventional inflation. Remarkably, we find that primordial gravitational waves with a peak amplitude around $10^{-26}$ ~ $10^{-27}$ are copiously produced in high-frequency bands 10MHz~100MHz. If we could detect such gravitational waves in future, we …

In this paper, we consider well known Tolman V perfect fluid solution and extend it to its an anisotropic version using gravitational decoupling by minimal geometric deformation approach and analyze the behavior of new version of the solution graphically. The effects of coupling constant on anisotropic factor has been measured and presented graphically. The matching conditions at the surface of inner and outer geometry have also been discussed. The viability of the solution has been studied by presenting the physical analysis of the solution.
In the present paper, we analyze the well-known 2+1 dimensional black holes (assuming a non-vanishing cosmological constant) in light of the gravitational decoupling by the minimal geometric deformation approach. To illustrate our results, we consider the BTZ geometry as the seed solution to generate new anisotropic ones. To complement the study, the curvature scalars and the energy conditions are analyzed.
In the present article, we have constructed a static charged anisotropic compact star model of Einstein field equations for a spherically symmetric space-time geometry. Specifically, we have extended the charged isotropic Heintzmann solution to an anisotropic domain. To address this work, we have employed the gravitational decoupling through the so called minimal geometric deformation approach. The charged anisotropic model is representing the realistic compact objects such as $RXJ1856-37$ and $SAX J1808.4-3658(SS2)$. We have reported our results in details for the compact star $RXJ1856-37$ on…
A corollary of general relativity that the average velocity of light between two points in a gravitational field is anisotropic has been overlooked. It is shown that this anisotropy can be probed by an experiment which constitutes another test of general relativity.
The purpose of this paper is to obtain exact solutions for charged anisotropic spherically symmetric matter configuration. For this purpose, we consider known solution for isotropic spherical system in the presence of electromagnetic field and extend it to two types of anisotropic charged solutions through gravitational decoupling approach. We examine physical characteristics of the resulting models. It is found that only first solution is physically acceptable as it meets all the energy bounds as well as stability criterion. We conclude that stability of the first model is enhanced with the i…
This work is focused in the study of analytic anisotropic solutions to Einstein's field equations, describing spherically symmetric and static configurations by way of the gravitational decoupling through the method of Minimal Geometric Deformation (MGD). For this we apply MGD to Heintzmann's solution obtaining two new analytic and well behaved anisotropic solutions, in which all their parameters such as the effective density, the effective radial and tangential pressure, as well as radial and tangential sound speed, fulfill each of the requirements for the physical acceptability available in …
Using the gravitational decoupling by the minimal geometric deformation approach, we build an anisotropic version of the well-known Tolman VII solution, determining an exact and physically acceptable interior two-fluid solution that can represent behavior of compact objects. Comparison of the effective density and density of the perfect fluid is demonstrated explicitly. We show that the radial and tangential pressure are different in magnitude giving thus the anisotropy of the modified Tolman VII solution. The dependence of the anisotropy on the coupling constant is also shown.
The interaction between Ricci scalar curvature and the baryon number current, dynamically breaks CPT in an expanding universe and leads to baryon asymmetry. Using this kind of interaction and study the gravitational baryogenesis in the Bianchi type I universe. We find out the effect of anisotropy of the universe on the baryon asymmetry for the case which the equation of state parameter, $ω$, is dependent to time.
This paper is devoted to evaluating exact anisotropic spherical solutions for static self-gravitating systems through extended geometric deformation decoupling technique. For this purpose, we consider an isotropic Tolman IV solution and extend it to anisotropic domain by transforming both temporal as well as radial metric potentials. To examine the physical viability and stability of interior anisotropic solutions, we plot energy bounds, TOV equation, causality condition and adiabatic index for the stars Her X-I and PSR J 1416-2230. It is found that both obtained models show realistic behavior…
We consider the gravitational model with additional spatial dimensions and anisotropic pressure which is nonzero only in these dimensions. Cosmological solutions in this model include accelerated expansion of the Universe at late age of its evolution and dynamical compactification of extra dimensions. This model describes observational data for Type Ia supernovae on the level or better than the $Λ$CDM model. We analyze two equations of state resulting in different predictions for further evolution, but in both variants the acceleration epoch is finite.
In a landscape of compactifications with different numbers of macroscopic dimensions, it is possible that our universe has nucleated from a vacuum where some of our four large dimensions were compact while other, now compact, directions were macroscopic. From our perspective, this shapeshifting can be perceived as an anisotropic background spacetime. As an example, we present a model where our universe emerged from a tunneling event which involves the decompactification of two dimensions compactified on the two-sphere. In this case, our universe is of the Kantowski-Sachs type and therefore hom…
In this paper, we investigate anisotropic static spherically symmetric solutions in the framework of $f(\mathcal{G})$ gravity through gravitational decoupling approach. For this purpose, we consider Krori and Barua (known solution) isotropic interior solution for static spherically symmetric self-gravitating system and extend it to two types of anisotropic solutions. We examine the physical viability of our models through energy conditions, squared speed of sound and anisotropy parameter. It is found that the first solution is physically viable as it fulfills the energy bounds as well as stabi…
In this work we obtain an anisotropic neutron star solution by gravitational decoupling starting from a perfect fluid configuration which has been used to model the compact object PSR J0348+0432. Additionally, we consider the same solution to model the Binary Pulsar SAX J1808.4-3658 and X-ray Binaries Her X-1 and Cen X-3 ones. We study the acceptability conditions and obtain that the MGD--deformed solution obey the same physical requirements as its isotropic counterpart. Finally, we conclude that the most stable solutions, according to the adiabatic index and gravitational cracking criterion, …
One of the predictions from simple inflation models is a stochastic background of gravitational waves (or literally what is called the Primordial Gravitational Waves (\textbf{PGW})) with a nearly scale--invariant spectrum. In this work, we consider these waves arising from perturbing the Anisotropic background (Bianchi type--I) metric by focus on their power spectrums. The intended frameworks are the Einstein's and modified gravity frames. The investigations indicate that in the modified gravity context, the results have more ability to adapt to physical conditions or constraints. Especially, t…
We present novel analytical solutions for linear-order gravitational waves or tensor perturbations in a flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe containing two perfect fluids, radiation and pressureless dust, and allowing for neutrino anisotropic stress. One of the results is applicable to any sub-horizon gravitational wave in such a universe. Another result is applicable to gravitational waves of primordial origin, for example produced during inflation, and works both before and after they cross the horizon. These results improve on analytical approximations previously set out in the literatu…
We study gravitational waves propagating through an anisotropic Bianchi I dust-filled universe (containing the Einstein-de-Sitter universe as a special case). The waves are modeled as small perturbations of this background cosmological model and we choose a family of null hypersurfaces in this space-time to act as the histories of the wavefronts of the radiation. We find that the perturbations we generate can describe pure gravitational radiation if and only if the null hypersurfaces are shear-free. We calculate the gauge-invariant small perturbations explicitly in this case. How these differ …
The gravitational baryogensis may not generate a sufficient baryon asymmetry in the standard thermal history of the Universe when we take into account the gravitino problem. Hence it has been suggested that anisotropy of the Universe can enhance the generation of the baryon asymmetry through the increase of the time change of the Ricci scalar curvature. We study the gravitational baryogenesis in the presence of anisotropy, which is produced at the end of an anisotropic inflation. Although we confirm that the generated baryon asymmetry is enhanced compared with the original isotropic cosmologic…
In this work we will analyse the complexity factor, proposed by L. Herrera, for spherically symmetric static matter distributions satisfying a polytropic equation through the gravitational decoupling method. Specifically, we will use the 2-step GD, which is a particular case of the extended geometric deformation (EGD), to obtain analytic polytropic solutions of Einstein's equations. In order to give an example, we construct a model satisfying a polytropic equation of state using Tolman IV as a seed solution.
Were studied classical oscillations of background metric in the multidimensional anisotropic model of Kazner in the de-Sitter stage. Obtained dependence of fluctuations on dimension of space-time with infinite expansion. Stability of the model could be achieved when number of space-like dimensions equals or more then four. Were calculated contributions to the density of "vacuum energy", that are providing by proper oscillations of background metric and compared with contribution of cosmological arising of particles due to expansion. As it turned out, contribution of gravitational oscillation o…
This paper is devoted to studying charged anisotropic static spherically symmetric solutions through gravitationally decoupled minimal geometric deformation technique in $f(R)$ gravity. For this purpose, we first consider the known isotropic Krori-Barua solution for $f(R)$ Starobinsky model in the interior of a charged stellar system and then include the effects of two types of anisotropic solutions. The corresponding field equations are constructed and the unknown constants are obtained from junction conditions. We analyze the physical viability and stability of the resulting solutions throug…
In this work we construct families of anisotropic neutron stars for an equation of state compatible with the constraints of the gravitational-wave event GW170817 and for four anisotropy ansatze. Such stars are subjected to a radial perturbation in order to study their stability against radial oscillations and we develop a dynamical model to describe the non-adiabatic gravitational collapse of the unstable anisotropic configurations whose ultimate fate is the formation of a black hole. We find that the standard criterion for radial stability $dM/dρ_c >0$ is not always compatible with the calcul…
We present a class of exact solutions of Einstein field equations for a shear-free spherically symmetric anisotropic fluid undergoing radial heat flow. The interior metric fulfilled all the relevant physical and thermodynamic conditions and matched with Vaidya exterior metric over the boundary. Initially the interior solutions represent a static configuration of dissipative fluid which then gradually starts evolving into radiating collapse. The apparent luminosity observed by the distant observer at rest at infinity and the effective surface temperature are zero in remote past at the instance …
Model of gravitational collapse of anisotropic compact stars in a new theory of $ f(R) $ gravity has been developed. The author considers the modified gravity model of $ f(R) = ξR^4 $ to investigate a physically acceptable model of gravitational collapse of anisotropic compact stars. First, the author presents a brief review of the development of field equations of gravitational collapse in $ f(R) $ gravity for a particular interior metric for compact stars. Then analytical solutions for various physical quantities of collapsing anisotropic compact stars in $ ξR^4 $ gravity have been developed…
The aim of this work is to obtain new analitical solutions for Einstein equations in the anisotropical domain. This will be done via the minimal geometric deformation (MGD) approach, which is a simple and systematical method that allow us to decouple the Einstein equations. It requires a perfect fluid known solution that we will choose to be Finch-Skeas(FS) solution. Two different constraints were applied, and in each case we found an interval of values for the free parameters, where necesarly other physical solutions shall live.
In this work we propose a novel approach to integrate the Lane-Emden equations for relativistic anisotropic polytropes. We take advantage of the fact that Gravitational Decoupling allows to decrease the number of degrees of freedom once a well known solution of the Einstein field equations is provided as a seed so after demanding the polytropic equation for the radial pressure the system is automatically closed. The approach not only allows to extend both isotropic or anisotropic known solutions but simplifies the computation of the Tolman mass whenever the Minimal Geometric Deformation is con…
The spatial and temporal discreteness of gravitational wave sources leads to shot noise that may, in some regimes, swamp any attempts at measuring the anisotropy of the gravitational wave background. Cross-correlating a gravitational wave background map with a sufficiently dense galaxy survey can alleviate this issue, and potentially recover some of the underlying properties of the gravitational wave background. We quantify the shot noise level and we explicitly show that cross-correlating the gravitational wave background and a galaxy catalog improves the chances of a first detection of the b…
Interested in the collapse of a radiating star, we study the temporal evolution of a fluid with heat flux and bulk viscosity, including anisotropic pressure. As a starting point, we adopt an initial configuration that satisfies the regularities conditions as well as the energy conditions to a certain range of the mass-radius ratio for the star, defining acceptable models. For this set of models, we verify that the energy conditions remain satisfied until the black hole formation. Astrophysical relevant quantities, such as the luminosity perceived by an observer at infinity, the time of event h…
We study the statistical nature of primordial fluctuations from an anisotropic inflation which is realized by a vector field coupled to an inflaton. We find a suitable gauge, which we call the canonical gauge, for anisotropic inflation by generalizing the flat slicing gauge in conventional isotropic inflation. Using the canonical gauge, we reveal the structure of the couplings between curvature perturbations, vector waves, and gravitational waves. We identify two sources of anisotropy, i.e. the anisotropy due to the anisotropic expansion of the universe and that due to the anisotropic coupling…
This paper presents a hydrodynamic and thermodynamic treatment of a radiant star model that undergoes a dissipative gravitational collapse, from a certain initial configuration until it becomes a black hole. The collapsing star consists of a locally anisotropic non-perfect fluid, where we explore the consequences of including viscous pressures, both shear and bulk viscosities, as well as radial heat flow. We analyze the temporal evolution of the heat flux, mass function, luminosity perceived by an observer at infinity and the effective surface temperature. It is shown that this simple exact mo…
