In this paper, we study the graph of homothety classes of stable free lattices in a two-dimensional representation over a local UFD. This generalizes a classical result of the case where the base ring is a discrete valuation ring due to Serre. As applications, we consider the case when the representation comes from a residually reducible Hida family and we study the control theorem of Selmer groups. These results enable us to know the precise statement of the main conjecture in residually reducible case as we will remark in section 4 and section 5.
We prove new automorphy lifting theorems for residually reducible Galois representations of unitary type in which the residual representation is permitted to have an arbitrary number of irreducible constituents.
This paper is a continuation of the author's previous work, where we studied the variation of the number of isomorphic classes of $G_{\mathbb{Q}}$-stable lattices in p-adic families of residually reducible ordinary Galois representations. In this paper, we study the number of isomorphic classes of $G_{\mathbb{Q}}$-stable free lattices in a residually reducible Hida deformation and the variation of their related two-variable algebraic $p$-adic $L$-functions. This result gives an answer of a question asked by Ochiai.
We prove new cases of Fontaine-Mazur conjecture on two-dimensional Galois representations over Q when the residual representation is reducible. Our approach is via a semi-simple local-global compatibility of the completed cohomology and a Taylor-Wiles patching argument for the completed homology in this case. As a key input, we generalize the work of Skinner-Wiles in the ordinary case. In addition, we also treat the residually irreducible case at the end of the paper. Combining with people's earlier work, we can prove the Fontaine-Mazur conjecture completely in the regular case when p is at le…
Let $E$ be an elliptic curve over an imaginary quadratic field $K$, and $p$ be an odd prime such that the residual representation $E[p]$ is reducible. The $μ$-invariant of the fine Selmer group of $E$ over the anticyclotomic $\mathbb{Z}_p$-extension of $K$ is studied. We do not impose the Heegner hypothesis on $E$, thus allowing certain primes of bad reduction to decompose infinitely in the anticyclotomic $\mathbb{Z}_p$-extension. It is shown that the fine $μ$-invariant vanishes if certain explicit conditions are satisfied. Further, a partial converse is proven.
We show that suitable congruences between polarized automorphic forms over a CM field always produce elements in the Selmer group for exactly the +/--Asai (aka tensor induction) representation that is critical in the sense of Deligne. For this we relate the oddness of the associated polarized Galois representations (in the sense of the Bellaïche-Chenevier sign being +1) to the parity condition for criticality. Under an assumption similar to Vandiver's conjecture this also provides evidence for the Fontaine-Mazur conjecture for polarized Galois representations of any even dimension.
We study the crystalline universal deformation ring R (and its ideal of reducibility I) of a mod p Galois representation rho_0 of dimension n whose semisimplification is the direct sum of two absolutely irreducible mutually non-isomorphic constituents rho_1 and rho_2. Under some assumptions on Selmer groups associated with rho_1 and rho_2 we show that R/I is cyclic and often finite. Using ideas and results of (but somewhat different assumptions from) Bellaiche and Chenevier we prove that I is principal for essentially self-dual representations and deduce statements about the structure of R. Us…
The global deformation theory of residually reducible Galois representations with fixed auxiliary conditions is studied. We show that $\barρ:\operatorname{Gal}(\bar{\mathbb{Q}}/\mathbb{Q})\rightarrow \operatorname{GL}_2(\bar{\mathbb{F}}_p)$ lifts to a Hida line for which the weights range over a congruence class modulo-$p^2$. The advantage of the purely Galois theoretic approach is that it allows us to construct $p$-adic families of Galois representations lifting the actual representation $\barρ$, and not just the semisimplification.
In the present paper, we study the $p$-adic $L$-functions and the (strict) Selmer groups over $\mathbb{Q}_{\infty}$, the cyclotomic $\mathbb{Z}_p$-extension of $\mathbb{Q}$, of the $p$-adic weight one cusp forms $f$, obtained via the $p$-stabilization of weight one Eisenstein series, under the assumption that a certain Eisenstein component of the $p$-ordinary universal cuspidal Hecke algebra is Gorenstein. As an application, we compute the Iwasawa invariants of ordinary modular forms of weight $k\geq 2$ with the same residual Galois representations as the one of $f$, which in our setting, is r…
For a totally real field $F$, a finite extension $\mathbf{F}$ of $\mathbf{F}_p$ and a Galois character $χ: G_F \to \mathbf{F}^{\times}$ unramified away from a finite set of places $Σ\supset \{\mathfrak{p} \mid p\}$ consider the Bloch-Kato Selmer group $H:=H^1_Σ(F, χ^{-1})$. In an earlier paper of the authors it was proved that the number $d$ of isomorphism classes of (non-semisimple, reducible) residual representations $\overlineρ$ giving rise to lines in $H$ which are modular by some $ρ_f$ (also unramified outside $Σ$) satisfies $d \geq n:= \dim_{\mathbf{F}} H$. This was proved under the assu…
We prove some qualitative results about the $p$-adic Jacquet--Langlands correspondence defined by Scholze, in the $GL(2,Q_p)$, residually reducible case, by using a vanishing theorem proved by Judith Ludwig. In particular, we show that in the cases under consideration the $p$-adic Jacquet--Langlands correspondence can also deal with principal series representations in a non-trivial way, unlike its classical counterpart.
In this paper we study deformations of mod $p$ Galois representations $τ$ (over an imaginary quadratic field $F$) of dimension $2$ whose semi-simplification is the direct sum of two characters $τ_1$ and $τ_2$. As opposed to our previous work we do not impose any restrictions on the dimension of the crystalline Selmer group $H^1_Σ(F, {\rm Hom}(τ_2, τ_1)) \subset {\rm Ext}^1(τ_2, τ_1)$. We establish that there exists a basis $\mathcal{B}$ of $H^1_Σ(F, {\rm Hom}(τ_2, τ_1))$ arising from automorphic representations over $F$ (Theorem 8.1). Assuming among other things that the elements of $\mathcal{…
We prove the modularity of minimally ramified ordinary residually reducible p-adic Galois representations of an imaginary quadratic field F under certain assumptions. We first exhibit conditions under which the residual representation is unique up to isomorphism. Then we prove the existence of deformations arising from cuspforms on GL_2(A_F) via the Galois representations constructed by Taylor et al. We establish a sufficient condition (in terms of the non-existence of certain field extensions which in many cases can be reduced to a condition on an L-value) for the universal deformation ring t…
This is the second in a pair of papers about residually reducible Galois deformation rings with non-optimal level. In the first paper, we proved a Galois-theoretic criterion for the deformation ring to be as small as possible. This paper focuses on the computations needed to verify this criterion. We adapt a technique developed by Sharifi to compute number fields with twisted-Heisenberg Galois group and prescribed ramification, and compute the splitting behavior of primes in these extensions.
Given a continuous, odd, reducible and semi-simple $2$-dimensional representation $\barρ_0$ of $G_{\mathbb{Q},Np}$ over a finite field of odd characteristic $p$, we study the relation between the universal deformation ring of the pseudo-representation corresponding to $\barρ_0$ (pseudo-deformation ring) and the big $p$-adic Hecke algebra to prove that the maximal reduced quotient of the pseudo-deformation ring is isomorphic to the local component of the big $p$-adic Hecke algebra corresponding to $\barρ_0$ if a certain global Galois cohomology group has dimension $1$. This partially extends th…
We develop methods to study $2$-dimensional $2$-adic Galois representations $ρ$ of the absolute Galois group of a number field $K$, unramified outside a known finite set of primes $S$ of $K$, which are presented as Black Box representations, where we only have access to the characteristic polynomials of Frobenius automorphisms at a finite set of primes. Using suitable finite test sets of primes, depending only on $K$ and $S$, we show how to determine the determinant $\detρ$, whether or not $ρ$ is residually reducible, and further information about the size of the isogeny graph of $ρ$ whose ver…
Let G be a profinite group which is topologically finitely generated, p a prime number and d an integer. We show that the functor from rigid analytic spaces over Q_p to sets, which associates to a rigid space Y the set of continuous d-dimensional pseudocharacters G -> O(Y), is representable by a quasi-Stein rigid analytic space X, and we study its general properties. Our main tool is a theory of "determinants" extending the one of pseudocharacters but which works over an arbitrary base ring; an independent aim of this paper is to expose the main facts of this theory. The moduli space X is cons…
