The possible conditions for hadron-quark phase transition in hybrid star cores are investigated in the present work. For the hadronic matter part the effective chiral model is adopted. Exotic baryonic degrees like hyperons and the delta baryons are also taken into account. As $Δ$s posses Breit-Wigner mass distribution ($1232 \pm 120$ MeV), the hadronic equation of state is obtained by varying the mass of the delta baryons in this range. For the quark phase the MIT bag model is chosen with repulsive effects of the unpaired quarks. Phase transition is achieved using Gibbs construction and the gross properties of the resultant hybrid star are calculated in both static and rotating conditions and compared with the various constraints on them from different observational and empirical perspectives. The work presents a thorough study of the phase transition properties like the critical density of appearance of quarks, the density range for the persistence of the mixed phase and the population of different hadrons and quarks in hybrid star matter. The hybrid star properties, calculated in both static and rotating conditions, are found to be consistent with the bounds on them from different perspectives.
The presence of exotic hadrons, such as hyperons and $Δ$ isobars, in the dense nuclear matter in their cores has been shown to produce important changes in the properties of neutron stars. Within the quark-meson coupling model, we show that the many-body forces generated by the change in the internal quark structure of the baryons in the strong scalar mean fields generated in dense nuclear matter prohibit the appearance of $Δ$ isobars.
By applying a relativistic mean-field description of neutron star matter with density dependent couplings, we analyse the properties of two different matter compositions: nucleonic matter with delta baryons and nucleonic matter with hyperons and delta baryons. The delta-meson couplings are allowed to vary within a wide range of values obtained by experimental data, while the hyperon-meson couplings are fitted to hypernuclear properties. Neutron star properties with no deconfinement phase transition are studied. It is verified that many models are excluded because the effective nucleon mass bec…
A future gamma factory at CERN or accelerator-based gamma sources elsewhere can include the possibility of energetic twisted photons, which are photons with a structured wave front that can allow a pre-defined large angular momentum along the beam direction. Twisted photons are potentially a new tool in hadronic physics, and we consider here one possibility, namely the photoproduction of $Δ$(1232) baryons using twisted photons. We show that particular polarization amplitudes isolate the smaller partial wave amplitudes and they are measurable without interference from the terms that are otherwi…
In this work, we study magnetic field effects on neutron star matter containing the baryon octet and additional heavier spin 3/2 baryons (the $Δ$'s). We make use of two different relativistic hadronic models that contain an additional vector-isovector self interaction for the mesons: one version of a relativistic mean field (RMF) model and the Chiral Mean Field (CMF) model. We find that both the additional interaction and a strong magnetic field enhance the $Δ$ baryon population in dense matter, while decreasing the relative density of hyperons. At the same time that the vector-isovector meson…
Strong magnetic fields can modify the microscopic composition of matter with consequences on stellar macroscopic properties. Within this context, we study, for the first time, the possibility of the appearance of spin-3/2 $Δ$ baryons in magnetars. We make use of two different relativistic models for the equation of state of dense matter under the influence of strong magnetic fields considering the effects of Landau levels and the anomalous magnetic moment (AMM) proportional to the spin of all baryons and leptons. In particular, we analyze the effects of the AMM of $Δ$ baryons in dense matter f…
On the flow of kaons produced in relativistic heavy ion collisions
We investigate known exact solutions of hydrodynamics and derive analytic formulas for the polarization of baryons produced at freeze-out. Such polarization (observed in high energy heavy-ion experiments) carries information on the time evolution of the quark-gluon plasma (sQGP), and our results give first analytic insight into the connection between this type of measurements and dynamical properties of the sQGP (e.g. vorticity). We present results for a rotating and acceleratingly expanding solution and also give hints on how to calculate the polarization using a rotating extension of the Bud…
