As a generalization and extension of our previous paper {\it J. Phys. A: Math. Theor. 53 055302} \cite{AME2020}, in this work we study a quantum 4-body system in $\mathbb{R}^d$ ($d\geq 3$) with quadratic and sextic pairwise potentials in the {\it relative distances}, $r_{ij} \equiv {|{\bf r}_i - {\bf r}_j |}$, between particles. Our study is restricted to solutions in the space of relative motion with zero total angular momentum ($S$-states). In variables $ρ_{ij} \equiv r_{ij}^2$, the corresponding reduced Hamiltonian of the system possesses a hidden $sl(7;{\bf R})$ Lie algebra structure. In the $ρ$-representation it is shown that the 4-body harmonic oscillator with arbitrary masses and unequal spring constants is exactly-solvable (ES). We pay special attention to the case of four equal masses and to atomic-like (where one mass is infinite, three others are equal), molecular two-center (two masses are infinite, two others are equal) and molecular three-center (three infinite masses) cases. In particular, exact results in the molecular case are compared with those obtained within the Born-Oppenheimer approximation. The first and second order symmetries of non-interacting system are searched. Also, the reduction to the lower dimensional cases $d=1,2$ is discussed. It is shown that for four body harmonic oscillator case there exists an infinite family of eigenfunctions which depend on the single variable which is the moment-of-inertia of the system.
A general non-local point transformation for position-dependent mass Lagrangians and their mapping into a "constant unit-mass" Lagrangians in the generalized coordinates is introduced. The conditions on the invariance of the related Euler-Lagrange equations are reported. The harmonic oscillator linearization of the PDM Euler-Lagrange equations is discussed through some illustrative examples including harmonic oscillators, shifted harmonic oscillators, a quadratic nonlinear oscillator, and a Morse-type oscillator. The Mathews-Lakshmanan nonlinear oscillators are reproduced and some "shifted" Ma…
The two-dimensional extension of the one-dimensional PDM-Lagrangians and their nonlocal point transformation mappings into constant unit-mass exactly solvable Lagrangians is introduced. The conditions on the related two-dimensional Euler-Lagrange equations' invariance are reported. The mappings from superintegrable linear oscillators into sub-superintegrable nonlinear PDM-oscillators are exemplified by, (i) a sub-superintegrable Mathews-Lakshmanan type-I PDM-oscillator, for a PDM-particle moving in a harmonic oscillator potential, (ii) a sub-superintegrable Mathews-Lakshmanan type-II PDM-oscil…
We demonstrate that neutral Dirac particles in external electric fields, which are equivalent to generalized Dirac oscillators, are physical examples of quasi-exactly solvable systems. Electric field configurations permitting quasi-exact solvability of the system based on the $sl(2)$ symmetry are discussed separately in spherical, cylindrical, and Cartesian coordinates. Some exactly solvable field configurations are also exhibited.
The n-dimensional extension of the one dimensional Position-dependent mass (PDM) Lagrangians under the nonlocal point transformations by Mustafa <cite>38</cite> is introduced. The invariance of the n-dimensional PDM Euler-Lagrange equations is examined using two possible/different PDM Lagrangian settings. Under the nonlocal point transformation of Mustafa <cite>38</cite>, we have shown that the PDM Euler-Lagrange invariance is only feasible for one particular PDM-Lagrangians settings. Namely, when each velocity component is deformed by some dimensionless scalar multiplier that renders the mass…
Schroedinger bound-state problem in D dimensions is considered for a set of central polynomial potentials (containing 2q coupling constants). Its polynomial (harmonic-oscillator-like, quasi-exact, terminating) bound-state solutions of degree N are sought at a (q+1)-plet of exceptional couplings/energies, the values of which comply with (the same number of) termination conditions. We revealed certain hidden regularity in these coupled polynomial equations and in their roots. A particularly impressive simplification of the pattern occurred at the very large spatial dimensions D where all the "mu…
A family of maximally superintegrable systems containing the Coulomb atom as a special case is constructed in N-dimensional Euclidean space. Two different sets of N commuting second order operators are found, overlapping in the Hamiltonian alone. The system is separable in several coordinate systems and is shown to be exactly solvable. It is solved in terms of classical orthogonal polynomials. The Hamiltonian and N further operators are shown to lie in the enveloping algebra of a hidden affine Lie algebra.
General Schrödinger equation is considered with a central polynomial potential depending on $2q$ arbitrary coupling constants. Its exceptional solutions of the so called Magyari type (i.e., exact bound states proportional to a polynomial of degree $N$) are sought. In any spatial dimension $D \geq 1$, this problem leads to the Magyari's system of coupled polynomial constraints, and only purely numerical solutions seem available at a generic choice of $q$ and $N$. Routinely, we solved the system by the construction of the Janet bases in a degree-reverse-lexicographical ordering, followed by thei…
A correspondence between the sextic anharmonic oscillator and a pair of third-order ordinary differential equations is used to investigate the phenomenon of quasi-exact solvability for eigenvalue problems involving differential operators with order greater than two. In particular, links with Bender-Dunne polynomials and resonances between independent solutions are observed for certain second-order cases, and extended to the higher-order problems.
It is shown that all four superintegrable quantum systems on the Euclidean plane possess the same underlying hidden algebra $sl(3)$. The gauge-rotated Hamiltonians, as well as their integrals of motion, once rewritten in appropriate coordinates, preserve a flag of polynomials. This flag corresponds to highest-weight finite-dimensional representations of the $sl(3)$-algebra, realized by first order differential operators.
A new type of exact solvability is reported. We study the general central polynomial potentials (with 2q anharmonic terms) which satisfy the Magyari's partial exact solvability conditions (this means that they possess a harmonic-oscillator-like wave function proportional to a polynomial of any integer degree N). Working in the space of a very large dimension D for simplicity, we reveal that in contrast to the usual version of the model in finite dimensions (requiring a purely numerical treatment of the Magyari's constraints), our large D problem acquires an explicit, closed form solution at al…
It is shown that the (driven) quantum Rabi model and its 2-photon and 2-mode generalizations possess a hidden $sl(2)$-algebraic structure which explains the origin of the quasi-exact solvability of these models. It manifests the first appearance of a hidden algebraic structure in quantum spin-boson systems without $U(1)$ symmetry.
The Dirac equation for an electron in two spatial dimensions in the Coulomb and homogeneous magnetic fields is a physical example of quasi-exactly solvable systems. This model, however, does not belong to the classes based on the algebra $sl(2)$ which underlies most one-dimensional and effectively one-dimensional quasi-exactly solvable systems. In this paper we demonstrate that the quasi-exactly solvable differential equation possesses a hidden $osp(2,2)$ superalgebra.
Exact spectrum of the two-photon Rabi Hamiltonian is found, proceeding in full analogy with the solution of standard (one-photon) Rabi Hamiltonian, published by Braak in Phys. Rev. Lett. 107, 100401 (2011). The Hamiltonian is rewritten as a set of two differential equations. Symmetries that get hidden after further treatment are found. One can plainly see, how the Hilbert space splits into four disjunct subspaces, categorized by four values of the symmetry parameter $c=\pm1,\pm i$. There were only two values $\pm1$ for the standard Rabi model. Four analytic functions are introduced by a recurr…
We associate with each simple Lie algebra a system of second-order differential equations invariant under a non-compact real form of the corresponding Lie group. In the limit of a contraction to a Schrödinger algebra, these equations reduce to a system of ordinary harmonic oscillators. We provide two clarifying examples of such deformed oscillators: one system invariant under SO(2,3) transformations, and another system featuring $G_{2(2)}$ symmetry. The construction of invariant actions requires adding semi-dynamical degrees of freedom; we illustrate the algorithm with the two examples mention…
The nonlinear generalized modified Emden type equations (GMEE) are known to be linearizable into simple harmonic oscillator (HO) or damped harmonic oscillators (DHO) via some nonlocal transformations. Hereby, we show that the structure of the nonlocal transformation and the linearizability into HO or DHO determine the nature/structure of the dynamical forces involved (hence, determine the structure of the dynamical equation). Yet, a reverse engineering strategy is used so that the exact solutions of the emerging GMEE are nonlocally transformed to find the exact solutions of the HO and DHO dyna…
The potential of the $A_2$ quantum elliptic model (3-body Calogero-Moser elliptic model) is defined by the pairwise three-body interaction through Weierstrass $\wp$-function and has a single coupling constant. A change of variables has been found, which are $A_2$ elliptic invariants, such that the potential becomes a rational function, while the flat space metric as well as its associated vector are polynomials in two variables. It is shown that the model possesses the hidden $sl(3)$ algebra - the Hamiltonian is an element of the universal enveloping algebra $U_{sl(3)}$ for arbitrary coupling …
We consider a six-parameter family of the square integrable wave functions for the simple harmonic oscillator, which cannot be obtained by the standard separation of variables. They are given by the action of the corresponding maximal kinematical invariance group on the standard solutions. In addition, the phase space oscillations of the electron position and linear momentum probability distributions are computer animated and some possible applications are briefly discussed. A visualization of the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle is presented.
Due to its great importance for applications, we generalize and extend the approach of our previous papers to study aspects of the quantum and classical dynamics of a $4$-body system with equal masses in {\it $d$}-dimensional space with interaction depending only on mutual (relative) distances. The study is restricted to solutions in the space of relative motion which are functions of mutual (relative) distances only. The ground state (and some other states) in the quantum case and some trajectories in the classical case are of this type. We construct the quantum Hamiltonian for which these st…
We construct a new family of quasi-solvable and N-fold supersymmetric quantum systems where each Hamiltonian preserves an exceptional polynomial subspace of codimension 2. We show that the family includes as a particular case the recently reported rational radial oscillator potential whose eigenfunctions are expressed in terms of the X_2-Laguerre polynomials of the second kind. In addition, we find that the two kinds of the X_2-Laguerre polynomials are ingeniously connected with each other by the N-fold supercharge.
The first part of this paper explains what super-integrability is and how it differs in the classical and quantum cases. This is illustrated with an elementary example of the resonant harmonic oscillator. For Hamiltonians in "natural form", the kinetic energy has geometric origins and, in the flat and constant curvature cases, the large isometry group plays a vital role. We explain how to use the corresponding first integrals to build separable and super-integrable systems. We also show how to use the automorphisms of the symmetry algebra to help build the Poisson relations of the correspondin…
In this article, in the framework of an analytical approach and with help of the generalized version of the Hurwitz transformation the five--dimensional bound system composed of the Yang monople coupled to a particle of the isospin by SU(2) and Coulomb interaction is constructed from the eight-dimensional quantum oscillator. The generalized Runge-Lentz vector and the SO(6) group of the hidden symmetry are established. It is also shown that group of hidden symmetry makes it possible to calculate the spectrum of system by a pure algebraic method.
An Exactly-Solvable (ES) potential on the sphere $S^n$ is reviewed and the related Quasi-Exactly-Solvable (QES) potential is found and studied. Mapping the sphere to a simplex it is found that the metric (of constant curvature) is in polynomial form, and both the ES and the QES potentials are rational functions. Their hidden algebra is $gl_n$ in a finite-dimensional representation realized by first order differential operators acting on $RP^n$. It is shown that variables in the Schrödinger eigenvalue equation can be separated in spherical coordinates and a number of the integrals of the second…
Under certain constraints on the parameters a, b and c, it is known that Schroedinger's equation -y"(x)+(ax^6+bx^4+cx^2)y(x) = E y(x), a > 0, with the sextic anharmonic oscillator potential is exactly solvable. In this article we show that the exact wave function y is the generating function for a set of orthogonal polynomials P_n^{(t)}(x) in the energy variable E. Some of the properties of these polynomials are discussed in detail and our analysis reveals scaling and factorization properties that are central to quasi-exact solvability. We also prove that this set of orthogonal polynomials can…
We study aspects of the quantum and classical dynamics of a $3$-body system in 3D space with interaction depending only on mutual distances. The study is restricted to solutions in the space of relative motion which are functions of mutual distances only. It is shown that the ground state (and some other states) in the quantum case and the planar trajectories in the classical case are of this type. The quantum (and classical) system for which these states are eigenstates is found and its Hamiltonian is constructed. It corresponds to a three-dimensional quantum particle moving in a curved space…
We give a solution to the long-standing problem of constructing the generators of hidden symmetries of the quantum Higgs oscillator, a particle on a d-sphere moving in a central potential varying as the inverse cosine-squared of the polar angle. This superintegrable system is known to possess a rich algebraic structure, including a hidden SU(d) symmetry that can be deduced from classical conserved quantities and degeneracies of the quantum spectrum. The quantum generators of this SU(d) have not been constructed thus far, except at d=2, and naive quantization of classical conserved quantities l…
Solvability of the ubiquitous quantum harmonic oscillator relies on a spectrum generating osp(1|2) superconformal symmetry. We study the problem of constructing all quantum mechanical models with a hidden osp(1|2) symmetry on a given space of states. This problem stems from interacting higher spin models coupled to gravity. In one dimension, we show that the solution to this problem is the Plyushchay family of quantum mechanical models with hidden superconformal symmetry obtained by viewing the harmonic oscillator as a one dimensional Dirac system, so that Grassmann parity equals wavefunction …
We present a new approach to study a class of non-Hermitian (1+1)-dimensional Dirac Hamiltonian in the presence of local Fermi velocity. We apply the well known Nikiforov-Uvarov method to solve such a system. We discuss applications and explore the solvability of both $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetric and non-$\mathcal{PT}$ symmetric classes of potentials. In the former case we obtain the solution of a harmonic oscillator in the presence of a linear vector potential while in the latter case we solve the shifted harmonic oscillator problem.
Classical (maximal) superintegrable systems in $n$ dimensions are Hamiltonian systems with $2n-1$ independent constants of the motion, globally defined, the maximum number possible. They are very special because they can be solved algebraically. In this paper we show explicitly, mostly through examples of 2nd order superintegrable systems in 2 dimensions, how the trajectories can be determined in detail using rather elementary algebraic, geometric and analytic methods applied to the closed quadratic algebra of symmetries of the system. We treat a family of 2nd order degenerate systems: oscilla…
The exact solvability and impressive pedagogical implementation of the harmonic oscillator creation and annihilation operators make it a problem of great physical relevance and the most fundamental one in quantum mechanics. So would be the position dependent mass oscillator for the position dependent mass quantum mechanics. We, hereby, construct the position dependent mass creation and annihilation operators for the position dependent mass oscillator via two different approaches. First, via von Roos position dependent mass Hamiltonian and show that the commutation relation between the position…
The description of number of dual (quasy)-exactly solvable models with its hidden symmetry algebra has been given at different levels of analysis within the framework of generalized Kustaanheimo-Stiefel (KS)-transformations. It's shown that N-dimensionall singular oscillator and (n+1)-dimensional generalized MICZ-Kepler system are dual to each other and the duality transformation is the generalized version of the KS transformation. The solvability of the Schrodinger equation of these problems by the variables separation method is given in a double, spherical and parabolic coordinates. The quad…
We present the higher-dimensional generalization of anisotropic (pseudo)spherical oscillator suggested recently in [arXiv:0710.5001], and the related spherical and pseudosperical generalizations (MICZ-)Kepler like systems with Stark term and $\cosθ$ potential. We write down the potentials and hidden symmetry generators of these systems, in terms of ambient Euclidean space.
As a straightforward generalization and extension of our previous paper, J. Phys. A50 (2017) 215201 we study aspects of the quantum and classical dynamics of a $3$-body system with equal masses, each body with $d$ degrees of freedom, with interaction depending only on mutual (relative) distances. The study is restricted to solutions in the space of relative motion which are functions of mutual (relative) distances only. It is shown that the ground state (and some other states) in the quantum case and the planar trajectories (which are in the interaction plane) in the classical case are of this…
We study the spectrum generating closed nonlinear superconformal algebra that describes $\mathcal{N}=2$ super-extensions of rationally deformed quantum harmonic oscillator and conformal mechanics models with coupling constant $g=m(m+1)$, $m\in {\mathbb N}$. It has a nature of a nonlinear finite $W$ superalgebra being generated by higher derivative integrals, and generally contains several different copies of either deformed superconformal $\mathfrak{osp}(2|2)$ algebra in the case of super-extended rationally deformed conformal mechanics models, or deformed super-Schrodinger algebra in the case…
Exact solvability of brane equations is studied, and a new $U(1)\times U(1)\times... \times U(1)$ invariant anzats for the solution of $p$-brane equations in $D=(2p+1)$-dimensional Minkowski space is proposed. The reduction of the $p$-brane Hamiltonian to the Hamiltonian of $p$-dimensional relativistic anharmonic oscillator with the monomial potential of the degree equal to $2p$ is revealed. For the case of degenerate p-torus with equal radii it is shown that the $p$-brane equations are integrable and their solutions are expressed in terms of elliptic ($p=2$) or hyperelliptic ($p>2$) functions…
By using of an appropriate transformation, it was shown that the quantum system of 4 dimensional simple harmonic oscillator can describe the motion of a charged particle in the presence of a magnetic monopole field. It was shown that the Dirac magnetic monopole has the hidden algebra of U(1) symmetry and by reducing of the dimensions of space, the U(1)*U(1) dynamical group for 4D harmonic oscillator quantum system was obtained. Using the group representation and based on explicit solution of the obtained differential equation, the spectrum of system was calculated.
A shape invariant nonseparable and nondiagonalizable two-dimensional model with quadratic complex interaction, first studied by Cannata, Ioffe, and Nishnianidze, is re-examined with the purpose of exhibiting its hidden algebraic structure. The two operators $A^+$ and $A^-$, coming from the shape invariant supersymmetrical approach, where $A^+$ acts as a raising operator while $A^-$ annihilates all wavefunctions, are completed by introducing a novel pair of operators $B^+$ and $B^-$, where $B^-$ acts as the missing lowering operator. These four operators then serve as building blocks for constr…
The energy spectrum of the three-particle Hamiltonian obtained by replacing the two-body trigonometric potential of the Sutherland problem by a three-body one of a similar form is derived. When expressed in appropriate variables, the corresponding wave functions are shown to be expressible in terms of Jack polynomials. The exact solvability of the problem with three-body interaction is explained by a hidden sl(3,\R) symmetry.
Oscillator and Coulomb systems on N-dimensional spaces of constant curvature can be generalized by replacing their angular degrees of freedom with a compact integrable (N-1)-dimensional system. We present the action-angle formulation of such models in terms of theradial degree of freedom and the action-angle variables of the angular subsystem. As an example, we construct the spherical and pseudospherical generalization of the two-dimensional superintegrable models introduced by Tremblay, Turbiner and Winternitz and by Post and Winternitz. We demonstrate the superintegrability of these systems …
We investigate the pseudospin symmetry case of a spin-1/2 particle governed by the generalized isotonic oscillator, by presenting quasi exact polynomial solutions to Dirac equation with pseudospin symmetry vector and scalar potentials. The resulting equation is found to be quasi-exactly solvable owing to the existence of a hidden $sl(2)$ algebraic structure. A systematic and closed form solution to the basic equation is obtained using the Bethe ansatz method. Analytic expression for the energy is obtain and the wavefunction is derived in terms of the roots to a set of Bethe ansatz equations.
We introduce two new families of quasi-exactly solvable (QES) extensions of the oscillator in a $d$-dimensional constant-curvature space. For the first three members of each family, we obtain closed-form expressions of the energies and wavefunctions for some allowed values of the potential parameters using the Bethe ansatz method. We prove that the first member of each family has a hidden sl(2,$\mathbb{R}$) symmetry and is connected with a QES equation of the first or second type, respectively. One-dimensional results are also derived from the $d$-dimensional ones with $d \ge 2$, thereby getti…
Shape invariance is a powerful solvability condition, that allows for complete knowledge of the energy spectrum, and eigenfunctions of a system. After a short introduction into the deformation quantization formalism, this paper explores the implications of the supersymmetric quantum mechanics and shape invariance techniques to the phase space formalism. We show that shape invariance induces a new set of relations between the Wigner functions of the system, that allows for their direct calculation, once we know one of them. The simple harmonic oscillator and the Morse potential are solved as ex…
The familiar Fock space commonly used to describe the relativistic harmonic oscillator, for example as part of string theory, is insufficient to describe all the states of the relativistic oscillator. We find that there are three different vacua leading to three disconnected Fock sectors, all constructed with the same creation-annihilation operators. These have different spacetime geometric properties as well as different algebraic symmetry properties or different quantum numbers. Two of these Fock spaces include negative norm ghosts (as in string theory) while the third one is completely free…

The quantum problem of four particles in $\mathbb{R}^d$ ($d\geq 3$), with arbitrary masses $m_1,m_2,m_3$ and $m_4$, interacting through an harmonic oscillator potential is considered. This model allows exact solvability and a critical analysis of the Born-Oppenheimer approximation. The study is restricted to the ground state level. We pay special attention to the case of two equally heavy masses $m_1=m_2=M$ and two light particles $m_3=m_4=m$. It is shown that the sum of the first two terms of the Puiseux series, in powers of the dimensionless parameter $σ=\frac{m}{M}$, of the exact phase $Φ$ …
The action of the quantum mechanical volume operator, introduced in connection with a symmetric representation of the three-body problem and recently recognized to play a fundamental role in discretized quantum gravity models, can be given as a second order difference equation which, by a complex phase change, we turn into a discrete Schrödinger-like equation. The introduction of discrete potential-like functions reveals the surprising crucial role here of hidden symmetries, first discovered by Regge for the quantum mechanical 6j symbols; insight is provided into the underlying geometric featu…
Non-relativistic conformally invariant systems in a rotating cosmic string (conical) spacetime are analyzed at the classical and quantum levels by means of the gravitoelectromagnetic interpretation of the background. Solutions of the equations of motion are found by employing a local canonical transformation, that leads to their natural interpretation in terms of Riemann surfaces. The cone parameter $α$ and the angular velocity $Ω$ of the background determine the existence of hidden symmetries. Globally defined higher order integrals associated with perihelion of geodesic orbits appear at rati…
Quasi-Exactly Solvable Schrödinger Equations occupy an intermediate place between exactly-solvable (e.g. the harmonic oscillator and Coulomb problems etc) and non-solvable ones. Their major property is an explicit knowledge of several eigenstates while the remaining ones are unknown. Many of these problems are of the anharmonic oscillator type with a special type of anharmonicity. The Hamiltonians of quasi-exactly-solvable problems are characterized by the existence of a hidden algebraic structure but do not have any hidden symmetry properties. In particular, all known one-dimensional (quasi)-…
An exotic rotationally invariant harmonic oscillator (ERIHO) is constructed by applying a non-unitary isotropic conformal bridge transformation (CBT) to a free planar particle. It is described by the isotropic harmonic oscillator Hamiltonian supplemented by a Zeeman type term with a real coupling constant $g$. The model reveals the Euclidean ($|g|<1$) and Minkowskian ($|g|>1$) phases separated by the phases $g=+1$ and $g=-1$ of the Landau problem in the symmetric gauge with opposite orientation of the magnetic field. A hidden symmetry emerges in the system at rational values of $g$. Its genera…
The three-particle Hamiltonian obtained by replacing the two-body trigonometric potential of the Sutherland problem by a three-body one of a similar form is shown to be exactly solvable. When written in appropriate variables, its eigenfunctions can be expressed in terms of Jack symmetric polynomials. The exact solvability of the problem is explained by a hidden $sl(3,R)$ symmetry. A generalized Sutherland three-particle problem including both two- and three-body trigonometric potentials and internal degrees of freedom is then considered. It is analyzed in terms of three first-order noncommutin…
