We study the asymptotic behavior of random time changes of dynamical systems. As random time changes we propose three classes which exhibits different patterns of asymptotic decays. The subordination principle may be applied to study the asymptotic behavior of the random time dynamical systems. It turns out that for the special case of stable subordinators explicit expressions for the subordination are known and its asymptotic behavior are derived. For more general classes of random time changes explicit calculations are essentially more complicated and we reduce our study to the asymptotic behavior of the corresponding Cesaro limit.
We study the long-time behavior of the Cesaro means of fundamental solutions for fractional evolution equations corresponding to random time changes in the Brownian motion and other Markov processes. We consider both stable subordinators leading to equations with the Caputo-Djrbashian fractional derivative and more general cases corresponding to differential-convolution operators, in particular, distributed order derivatives.
In this paper we study the effect of the subordination by a general random time-change to the solution of a model on spatial ecology in terms of its evolution density. In particular on traveling waves for a non-local spatial logistic equation. We study the Cesaro limit of the subordinated dynamics in a number of particular cases related to the considered fractional derivative making use of the Karamata-Tauberian theorem.
The class of minimal difference partitions MDP($q$) (with gap $q$) is defined by the condition that successive parts in an integer partition differ from one another by at least $q\ge 0$. In a recent series of papers by A. Comtet and collaborators, the MDP($q$) ensemble with uniform measure was interpreted as a combinatorial model for quantum systems with fractional statistics, that is, interpolating between the classic Bose-Einstein ($q=0$) and Fermi-Dirac ($q=1$) cases. This was done by formally allowing values $q \in (0,1)$ using an analytic continuation of the limit shape of the correspondi…
Passive scalar motion in a family of random Gaussian velocity fields with long-range correlations is shown to converge to persistent fractional Brownian motions in long times.
We prove second order limit laws for (additive) functionals of the $d$-dimensional fractional Brownian motion with Hurst index $H=\frac{1}{d}$, using the method of moments, extending the Kallianpur-Robbins law.
We prove a central limit theorem for functionals of two independent $d$-dimensional fractional Brownian motions with the same Hurst index $H$ in $(\frac{2}{d+1},\frac{2}{d})$ using the method of moments.
The fractional non-homogeneous Poisson process was introduced by a time-change of the non-homogeneous Poisson process with the inverse $α$-stable subordinator. We propose a similar definition for the (non-homogeneous) fractional compound Poisson process. We give both finite-dimensional and functional limit theorems for the fractional non-homogeneous Poisson process and the fractional compound Poisson process. The results are derived by using martingale methods, regular variation properties and Anscombe's theorem. Eventually, some of the limit results are verified in a Monte Carlo simulation.
We prove a general functional limit theorem for multiparameter fractional Brownian motion. The functional law of the iterated logarithm, functional Lévy's modulus of continuity and many other results are its particular cases. Applications to approximation theory are discussed.
We prove a central limit theorem for an additive functional of the $d$-dimensional fractional Brownian motion with Hurst index $H\in(\frac{1}{2+d},\frac{1}{d})$, using the method of moments, extending the result by Papanicolaou, Stroock and Varadhan in the case of the standard Brownian motion.
We investigate the limit behavior of supercritical multitype branching processes in random environments with linear fractional offspring distributions and show that there exists a phase transition in the behavior of local probabilites of the process affected by strongly and intermediately supercritical regimes. Some conditional limit theorems can also be obtained from the representation of generating functions.
The purpose of this paper is to establish the multivariate normal convergence for the average of certain Volterra processes constructed from a fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter H>1/2. Some applications to parameter estimation are then discussed.
Edgeworth-type expansions for convolutions of probability densities and powers of the characteristic functions with non-uniform error terms are established for i.i.d. random variables with finite (fractional) moments of order $s \geq 2$, where $s$ may be noninteger.
We investigate an almost sure limit theorem (ASCLT) for sequences of random variables having the form of a ratio of two terms such that the numerator satisfies the ASCLT and the denominator is a positive term which converges almost surely to 1. This result leads to the ASCLT for least square estimators for Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process driven by fractional Brownian motion.
In this paper, we prove some central and non-central limit theorems for renormalized weighted power variations of order q>=2 of the fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter H in (0,1), where q is an integer. The central limit holds for 1/(2q)<H<= 1-1/(2q), the limit being a conditionally Gaussian distribution. If H<1/(2q), we show the convergence in L^2 to a limit which only depends on the fractional Brownian motion, and if H> 1-1/(2q), we show the convergence in L^2 to a stochastic integral with respect to the Hermite process of order q.
Limit theorems for strongly and intermediately supercritical branching processes in Markovian environment with linear fractional offspring distributions
Generalisations of the classical Euler formula to the setting of fractional calculus are discussed. Compound interest and fractional compound interest serve as motivation. Connections to fractional master equations are highlighted. An application to the Schlogl reactions with Mittag-Leffler waiting times is described.
Under certain mild conditions, some limit theorems for functionals of two independent Gaussian processes are obtained. The results apply to general Gaussian processes including fractional Brownian motion, sub-fractional Brownian motion and bi-fractional Brownian motion. A new and interesting phenomenon is that, in comparison with the results for fractional Brownian motion, extra randomness appears in the limiting distributions for Gaussian processes with nonstationary increments, say sub-fractional Brownian motion and bi-fractional Brownian. The results are obtained based on the method of mome…
In the present paper, we characterize the behavior of supercritical branching processes in random environment with linear fractional offspring distributions, conditioned on having small, but positive values at some large generation. As it has been noticed in previous works, there is a phase transition in the behavior of the process. Here, we examine the strongly and intermediately supercritical regimes The main result is a conditional limit theorem for the rescaled associated random walk in the intermediately case.
On the exponential integrability of the derivative of intersection and self-intersection local time for fractional Brownian motion and a limit theorem related to the self-intersection local time for fractional Brownian motion
A functional limit theorem for the empirical measure-valued process of eigenvalues of a matrix fractional Brownian motion is obtained. It is shown that the limiting measure-valued process is the non-commutative fractional Brownian motion recently introduced by Nourdin and Taqqu. Young and Skorohod stochastic integral techniques and fractional calculus are the main tools used.
We prove a central limit theorem for an additive functional of the $d$-dimensional fractional Brownian motion with Hurst index $H\in(\frac{1}{1+d},\frac{1}{d})$, using the method of moments, extending the result by Papanicolaou, Stroock and Varadhan in the case of the standard Brownian motion.
A well-known result with respect to the one dimensional nearest-neighbor symmetric simple exclusion process is the convergence to fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter 1/4, in the sense of finite-dimensional distributions, of the subdiffusively rescaled current across the origin, and the subdiffusively rescaled tagged particle position. The purpose of this note is to improve this convergence to a functional central limit theorem, with respect to the uniform topology, and so complete the solution to a conjecture in the literature with respect to simple exclusion processes.
We study the stochastic fractional diffusive limit of a kinetic equation involving a small parameter and perturbed by a smooth random term. Generalizing the method of perturbed test functions, under an appropriate scaling for the small parameter, and with the moment method used in the deterministic case, we show the convergence in law to a stochastic fluid limit involving a fractional Laplacian.
In this paper, we establish a new connection between Cox-Ingersoll-Ross (CIR) and reflected Ornstein-Uhlenbeck (ROU) models driven by either a standard Wiener process or a fractional Brownian motion with $H>\frac{1}{2}$. We prove that, with probability 1, the square root of the CIR process converges uniformly on compacts to the ROU process as the mean reversion parameter tends to either $σ^2/4$ (in the standard case) or to $0$ (in the fractional case). This also allows to obtain a new representation of the reflection function of the ROU as the limit of integral functionals of the CIR processes…
In this article, we introduce a non Gaussian long memory process constructed by the aggregation of independent copies of a fractional Lévy Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process with random coefficients. Several properties and a limit theorem are studied for this new process. Finally, some simulations of the limit process are shown.
In this paper we obtain a rate of convergence in the central limit theorem for high order weighted Hermite variations of the fractional Brownian motion. The proof is based on the techniques of Malliavin calculus and the quantitative stable limit theorems proved by Nourdin, Nualart and Peccati in 2016.
We study the one-dimensional stochastic wave equation driven by a Gaussian multiplicative noise which is white in time and has the covariance of a fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter $H\in [1/2,1)$ in the spatial variable. We show that the normalized spacial average of the solution over $[-R,R]$ converges in total variation distance to a normal distribution, as $R$ tends to infinity. We also provide a functional central limit theorem.
We prove a functional limit theorem for vector-valued functionals of the fractional Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process, providing the foundation for the fluctuation theory of slow/fast systems driven by such a noise. Our main contribution is on the joint convergence to a limit with both Gaussian and non-Gaussian components. This is valid for any $L^2$ functions, whereas for functions with stronger integrability properties the convergence is shown to hold in the Hölder topology. As an application we prove a `rough creation' result, i.e. the weak convergence of a family of random smooth curves to a non-…
We propose discrete random-field models that are based on random partitions of $\mathbb{N}^2$. The covariance structure of each random field is determined by the underlying random partition. Functional central limit theorems are established for the proposed models, and fractional Brownian sheets, with full range of Hurst indices, arise in the limit. Our models could be viewed as discrete analogues of fractional Brownian sheets, in the same spirit that the simple random walk is the discrete analogue of the Brownian motion.
In this paper, we study the recovery of the Hurst parameter from a given discrete sample of fractional Brownian motion with statistical inverse theory. In particular, we show that in the limit the posteriori distribution of the parameter given the sample determines the parameter uniquely. In order to obtain this result, we first prove various strong laws of large numbers related to the problem at hand and then employ these limit theorems to verify directly the limiting behaviour of posteriori distributions without making additional technical or simplifying assumptions that are commonly used.
We consider a stationary fluid queue with fractional Brownian motion input. Conditional on the workload at time zero being greater than a large value $b$, we provide the limiting distribution for the amount of time that the workload process spends above level $b$ over the busy cycle straddling the origin, as $b\to\infty$. Our results can be interpreted as showing that long delays occur in large clumps of size of order $b^{2-1/H}$. The conditional limit result involves a finer scaling of the queueing process than fluid analysis, thereby departing from previous related literature.
In this article we present a {\it quantitative} central limit theorem for the stochastic fractional heat equation driven by a a general Gaussian multiplicative noise, including the cases of space-time white noise and the white-colored noise with spatial covariance given by the Riesz kernel or a bounded integrable function. We show that the spatial average over a ball of radius $R$ converges, as $R$ tends to infinity, after suitable renormalization, towards a Gaussian limit in the total variation distance. We also provide a functional central limit theorem. As such, we extend recently proved si…
The space-time fractional Poisson process (STFPP), defined by Orsingher and Poilto in \cite{sfpp}, is a generalization of the time fractional Poisson process (TFPP) and the space fractional Poisson process (SFPP). We study the fractional generalization of the non-homogeneous Poisson process and call it the non-homogeneous space-time fractional Poisson process (NSTFPP). We compute their {\it pmf} and generating function and investigate the associated differential equation. The limit theorems and the law of iterated logarithm for the NSTFPP process are studied. We study the distributional proper…
In this paper the fractional Cox-Ingersoll-Ross process on $\mathbb{R}_+$ for $H<1/2$ is defined as a square of a pointwise limit of the processes $Y_{\varepsilon}$, satisfying the SDE of the form $d Y_{\varepsilon}(t)=( \frac{k}{ Y_{\varepsilon}(t)\mathbb{1}_{\{ Y_{\varepsilon}(t)>0\}}+\varepsilon}-a Y_{\varepsilon}(t))dt+σdB^H(t)$, as $\varepsilon\downarrow0$. Properties of such limit process are considered. SDE for both the limit process and the fractional Cox-Ingersoll-Ross process are obtained.
A new information-theoretic approach to the central limit theorem for stable laws is presented. The main novelty is the concept of relative fractional Fisher information, which shares most of the properties of the classical one, included Blachman-Stam type inequalities. These inequalities relate the fractional Fisher information of the sum of $n$ independent random variables to the information contained in sums over subsets containing $n-1$ of the random variables. As a consequence, a simple proof of the monotonicity of the relative fractional Fisher information in central limit theorems for s…
A mean-field-type limit from stochastic moderately interacting many-particle systems with singular Riesz potential is performed, leading to nonlocal porous-medium equations in the whole space. The nonlocality is given by the inverse of a fractional Laplacian, and the limit equation can be interpreted as a transport equation with a fractional pressure. The proof is based on Oelschläger's approach and a priori estimates for the associated diffusion equations, coming from energy-type and entropy inequalities as well as parabolic regularity. An existence analysis of the fractional porous-medium eq…
Functional limit theorem for continuous-time random walks (CTRW) are found in general case of dependent waiting times and jump sizes that are also position dependent. The limiting anomalous diffusion is described in terms of fractional dynamics. Probabilistic interpretation of generalized fractional evolution is given in terms of the random time change (subordination) by means of hitting times processes.
This work is devoted to the asymptotic analysis of high frequency wave propagation in random media with long-range dependence. We are interested in two asymptotic regimes, that we investigate simultaneously: the paraxial approximation, where the wave is collimated and propagates along a privileged direction of propagation, and the white-noise limit, where random fluctuations in the background are well approximated in a statistical sense by a fractional white noise. The fractional nature of the fluctuations is reminiscent of the long-range correlations in the underlying random medium. A typical…

We consider the limit of a linear kinetic equation, with reflection-transmission-absorption at an interface, with a degenerate scattering kernel. The equation arise from a microscopic chain of oscillators in contact with a heat bath. In the absence of the interface, the solutions exhibit a superdiffusive behavior in the long time limit. With the interface, the long time limit is the unique solution of a version of the fractional in space heat equation, with reflection-transmission-absorption at the interface. The limit problem corresponds to a certain stable process that is either absorbed, re…
We derive an asymptotic expansion for the quadratic variation of a stochastic process satisfying a stochastic differential equation driven by a fractional Brownian motion, based on the theory of asymptotic expansion of Skorohod integrals converging to a mixed normal limit. In order to apply the general theory, it is necessary to estimate functionals that are a randomly weighted sum of products of multiple integrals of the fractional Brownian motion, in expanding the quadratic variation and identifying the limit random symbols. To overcome the difficulty, we introduce two types of exponents by …
