In 1964 Erdős proved that $(1+\oh{1})) \frac{\eul \ln(2)}{4} k^2 2^{k}$ edges are sufficient to build a $k$-graph which is not two colorable. To this day, it is not known whether there exist such $k$-graphs with smaller number of edges. Erdős' bound is consequence of the fact that a hypergraph with $k^2/2$ vertices and $M(k)=(1+\oh{1}) \frac{\eul \ln(2)}{4} k^2 2^{k}$ randomly chosen edges of size $k$ is asymptotically almost surely not two colorable. Our first main result implies that for any $\varepsilon > 0$, any $k$-graph with $(1-\varepsilon) M(k)$ randomly and uniformly chosen edges is a.a.s. two colorable. The presented proof is an adaptation of the second moment method analogous to the developments of Achlioptas and Moore from 2002 who considered the problem with fixed size of edges and number of vertices tending to infinity. In the second part of the paper we consider the problem of algorithmic coloring of random $k$-graphs. We show that quite simple, and somewhat greedy procedure, a.a.s. finds a proper two coloring for random $k$-graphs on $k^2/2$ vertices, with at most $\Oh{k\ln k\cdot 2^k}$ edges. That is of the same asymptotic order as the analogue of the \emph{algorithmic barrier} defined by Achlioptas and Coja-Oghlan in 2008, for the case of fixed $k$.
We give an extension of a graph result by Alon and Shapira. And it affirmatively settles a question on property testing raised by them. All monotone hypergraph properties and all hereditary partite hypergraph properties are testable. Our proof is constructive and based on a new hypergraph regularity lemma.
An oriented k-uniform hypergraph (a family of ordered k-sets) has the ordering property (or Property O) if for every linear order of the vertex set, there is some edge oriented consistently with the linear order. We find bounds on the minimum number of edges in a hypergraph with Property O.
The extremal problem of hypergraph colorings related to Erdős--Hajnal property $B$-problem is considered. Let $k$ be a natural number. The problem is to find the value of $m_k(n)$ equal to the minimal number of edges in an $n$-uniform hypergraph not admitting $2$-colorings of the vertex set such that every edge of the hypergraph contains at least $k$ vertices of each color. In this paper we obtain new lower bounds for $m_k(n).$
A family of sets is $(p,q)$-intersecting if every nonempty subfamily of $p$ or fewer sets has at least $q$ elements in its total intersection. A family of sets has the $(p,q)$-Helly property if every nonempty $(p,q)$-intersecting subfamily has total intersection of cardinality at least $q$. The $(2,1)$-Helly property is the usual Helly property. A hypergraph is $(p,q)$-Helly if its edge family has the $(p,q)$-Helly property and hereditary $(p,q)$-Helly if each of its subhypergraphs has the $(p,q)$-Helly property. A graph is $(p,q)$-clique-Helly if the family of its maximal cliques has the $(p,…
We consider the problem of $k$-colouring a random $r$-uniform hypergraph with $n$ vertices and $cn$ edges, where $k$, $r$, $c$ remain constant as $n$ tends to infinity. Achlioptas and Naor showed that the chromatic number of a random graph in this setting, the case $r=2$, must have one of two easily computable values as $n$ tends to infinity. We give a complete generalisation of this result to random uniform hypergraphs.
The work deals with the threshold probablity for r-colorability in the binomial model H(n,k,p) of a random k-uniform hypergraph. We prove a lower bound for this threshold which improves the previously known results in the wide range of the parameters r=r(n) and k=k(n).
For a given hypergraph $H = (V,E)$ consider the sum $q(H)$ of $2^{-|e|}$ over $e \in E$. Consider the class of hypergraphs with the smallest edge of size $n$ and without a 2-colouring without monochromatic edges. Let $q(n)$ be the smallest value of $q(H)$ in this class. We provide a survey of the known bounds on $q(n)$ and make some minor refinements.
We study rainbow-free colourings of $k$-uniform hypergraphs; that is, colourings that use $k$ colours but with the property that no hyperedge attains all colours. We show that $p^*=(k-1)(\ln n)/n$ is the threshold function for the existence of a rainbow-free colouring in a random $k$-uniform hypergraph.
We study the problem of constructing a (near) uniform random proper $q$-coloring of a simple $k$-uniform hypergraph with $n$ vertices and maximum degree $Δ$. (Proper in that no edge is mono-colored and simple in that two edges have maximum intersection of size one). We show that if $q\geq \max\{C_k\log n,500k^3Δ^{1/(k-1)}\}$ then the Glauber Dynamics will become close to uniform in $O(n\log n)$ time, given a random (improper) start. This improves on the results in Frieze and Melsted [5].
A hypergraph is a $T_0$-hypergraph if for every two different vertices of the hypergraph there exists an edge containing one of the vertices and not containing the other. A general method for the enumeration of certain classes of $T_0$-hypergraphs is given. $T_0$-hypergraphs that are considered here are singled out both by the properties they themselves satisfy and by the properties that dual hypergraphs associated with them satisfy. Though in case of the so-called ordered hipergraphs the property `to be a $T_0$-hypergraph' is reduced to the property `to having different columns' of correspond…
Let $h>w>0$ be two fixed integers. Let $\orH$ be a random hypergraph whose hyperedges are all of cardinality $h$. To {\em $w$-orient} a hyperedge, we assign exactly $w$ of its vertices positive signs with respect to the hyperedge, and the rest negative. A $(w,k)$-orientation of $\orH$ consists of a $w$-orientation of all hyperedges of $\orH$, such that each vertex receives at most $k$ positive signs from its incident hyperedges. When $k$ is large enough, we determine the threshold of the existence of a $(w,k)$-orientation of a random hypergraph. The $(w,k)$-orientation of hypergraphs is strong…
A hypergraph is said to be properly 2-colorable if there exists a 2-coloring of its vertices such that no hyperedge is monochromatic. On the other hand, a hypergraph is called non-2-colorable if there exists at least one monochromatic hyperedge in each of the possible 2-colorings of its vertex set. Let m(n) denote the minimum number of hyperedges in a non-2-colorable n-uniform hypergraph. Establishing the lower and upper bounds on m(n) is a well-studied research direction over several decades. In this paper, we present new constructions for non-2-colorable n-uniform hypergraphs. These construc…
We consider the random hypergraph on a finite vertex set by choosing each set of vertices as an hyperedge independently at random. We express the probability distributions of the (lower-)associated simplicial complex and the (lower-)associated independence hypergraph of the random hypergraph in terms of the probability distributions of certain random simplicial complex and certain random independence hypergraph of Erdös-Rényi type. We construct a graded structure of the map algebra explicitly and give algorithms to generate random hypergraphs and random simplicial complexes.
We study hypergraph discrepancy in two closely related random models of hypergraphs on $n$ vertices and $m$ hyperedges. The first model, $\mathcal{H}_1$, is when every vertex is present in exactly $t$ randomly chosen hyperedges. The premise of this is closely tied to, and motivated by the Beck-Fiala conjecture. The second, perhaps more natural model, $\mathcal{H}_2$, is when the entries of the $m \times n$ incidence matrix is sampled in an i.i.d. fashion, each with probability $p$. We prove the following: 1. In $\mathcal{H}_1$, when $\log^{10}n \ll t \ll \sqrt{n}$, and $m = n$, we show that th…
Suppose a $k$-uniform hypergraph $H$ that satisfies a certain regularity instance (that is, there is a partition of $H$ given by the hypergraph regularity lemma into a bounded number of quasirandom subhypergraphs of prescribed densities). We prove that with high probability a large enough uniform random sample of the vertex set of $H$ also admits the same regularity instance. Here the crucial feature is that the error term measuring the quasirandomness of the subhypergraphs requires only an arbitrarily small additive correction. This has applications to combinatorial property testing. The grap…
Let a_1,...,a_k satisfy a_1+...+a_k=1 and suppose a k-uniform hypergraph on n vertices satisfies the following property; in any partition of its vertices into k sets A_1,...,A_k of sizes a_1*n,...,a_k*n, the number of edges intersecting A_1,...,A_k is the number one would expect to find in a random k-uniform hypergraph. Can we then infer that H is quasi-random? We show that the answer is negative if and only if a_1=...=a_k=1/k. This resolves an open problem raised in 1991 by Chung and Graham [J. AMS '91]. While hypergraphs satisfying the property corresponding to a_1=...=a_k=1/k are not necess…
In 1967 Harary, Hedetniemi, and Prins showed that every graph $G$ admits a complete $t$-coloring for every $t$ with $χ(G) \le t \le ψ(G)$, where $χ(G)$ denotes the chromatic number of $G$ and $ψ(G)$ denotes the achromatic number of $G$ which is the maximum number $r$ for which $G$ admits a complete $r$-coloring. Recently, Edwards and Rz\c ażewski (2020) showed that this result fails for hypergraphs by proving that for every integer $k$ with $k\ge 9$, there exists a $k$-uniform hypergraph $H$ with a complete $χ(H)$-coloring and a complete $ψ(H)$-coloring, but no complete $t$-coloring for some $…
The smallest number of edges forming an n-uniform hypergraph which is not r-colorable is denoted by m(n,r). Erdős and Lovász conjectured that m(n,2)=θ(n 2^n)$. The best known lower bound m(n,2)=Ω(sqrt(n/log(n)) 2^n) was obtained by Radhakrishnan and Srinivasan in 2000. We present a simple proof of their result. The proof is based on analysis of random greedy coloring algorithm investigated by Pluhár in 2009. The proof method extends to the case of r-coloring, and we show that for any fixed r we have m(n,r)=Ω((n/log(n))^(1-1/r) r^n) improving the bound of Kostochka from 2004. We also derive ana…
Fox, Gromov, Lafforgue, Naor, and Pach proved a regularity lemma for semi-algebraic $k$-uniform hypergraphs of bounded complexity, showing that for each $ε>0$ the vertex set can be equitably partitioned into a bounded number of parts (in terms of $ε$ and the complexity) so that all but an $ε$-fraction of the $k$-tuples of parts are homogeneous. We prove that the number of parts can be taken to be polynomial in $1/ε$. Our improved regularity lemma can be applied to geometric problems and to the following general question on property testing: is it possible to decide, with query complexity polyn…
The Kneser graph $KG_{n,k}$ is the graph whose vertices are the $k$-element subsets of $[n],$ with two vertices adjacent if and only if the corresponding sets are disjoint. A famous result due to Lovász states that the chromatic number of $KG_{n,k}$ is equal to $n-2k+2$. In this paper we discuss the chromatic number of random Kneser graphs and hypergraphs. It was studied in two recent papers, one due to Kupavskii, who proposed the problem and studied the graph case, and the more recent one due to Alishahi and Hajiabolhassan. The authors of the latter paper had extended the result of Kupavskii …
We extend results of Gyárfás and Füredi on the largest monochromatic component in $r$-colored complete $k$-uniform hypergraphs to the setting of random hypergraphs. We also study long monochromatic loose cycles in $r$-colored random hypergraphs. In particular, we obtain a random analog of a result of Gyárfás, Sárközy, and Szemerédi on the longest monochromatic loose cycle in $2$-colored complete $k$-uniform hypergraphs.
A $k$-uniform hypergraph $H = (V, E)$ is called $\ell$-orientable, if there is an assignment of each edge $e\in E$ to one of its vertices $v\in e$ such that no vertex is assigned more than $\ell$ edges. Let $H_{n,m,k}$ be a hypergraph, drawn uniformly at random from the set of all $k$-uniform hypergraphs with $n$ vertices and $m$ edges. In this paper we establish the threshold for the $\ell$-orientability of $H_{n,m,k}$ for all $k\ge 3$ and $\ell \ge 2$, i.e., we determine a critical quantity $c_{k, \ell}^*$ such that with probability $1-o(1)$ the graph $H_{n,cn,k}$ has an $\ell$-orientation i…
We study a model of random uniform hypergraphs, where a random instance is obtained by adding random edges to a large hypergraph of a given density. We obtain a tight bound on the number of random edges required to ensure non-2-colorability. We prove that for any k-uniform hypergraph with Omega(n^{k-epsilon}) edges, adding omega(n^{k epsilon/2}) random edges makes the hypergraph almost surely non-2-colorable. This is essentially tight, since there is a 2-colorable hypergraph with Omega(n^{k-ε}) edges which almost surely remains 2-colorable even after adding o(n^{k ε/ 2}) random edges.
We study the isomorphism problem for random hypergraphs. We show that it is solvable in polynomial time for the binomial random $k$-uniform hypergraph $H_{n,p;k}$, for a wide range of $p$. We also show that it is solvable w.h.p. for random $r$-regular, $k$-uniform hypergraphs $H_{n,r;k},r=O(1)$.
We estimate the likely values of the chromatic and independence numbers of the random $r$-uniform $d$-regular hypergraph on $n$ vertices for fixed $r$, large fixed $d$, and $n \rightarrow \infty$.
Despite of the extreme success of the spectral graph theory, there are relatively few papers applying spectral analysis to hypergraphs. Chung first introduced Laplacians for regular hypergraphs and showed some useful applications. Other researchers treated hypergraphs as weighted graphs and then studied the Laplacians of the corresponding weighted graphs. In this paper, we aim to unify these very different versions of Laplacians for hypergraphs. We introduce a set of Laplacians for hypergraphs through studying high-ordered random walks on hypergraphs. We prove the eigenvalues of these Laplacia…
We determine to within a constant factor the threshold for the property that two random k-uniform hypergraphs with edge probability p have an edge-disjoint packing into the same vertex set. More generally, we allow the hypergraphs to have different densities. In the graph case, we prove a stronger result, on packing a random graph with a fixed graph.
Answering in a strong form a question posed by Bollobás and Scott, in this paper we determine the discrepancy between two random k-uniform hypergraphs, up to a constant factor depending solely on k.
We consider the following definition of connectivity in $k$-uniform hypergraphs: Two $j$-sets are $j$-connected if there is a walk of edges between them such that two consecutive edges intersect in at least $j$ vertices. We determine the threshold at which the random $k$-uniform hypergraph with edge probability $p$ becomes $j$-connected with high probability. We also deduce a hitting time result for the random hypergraph process -- the hypergraph becomes $j$-connected at exactly the moment when the last isolated $j$-set disappears. This generalises well-known results for graphs.
Let $F$ be a strictly $k$-balanced $k$-uniform hypergraph with $e(F)\geq |F|-k+1$ and maximum co-degree at least two. The random greedy $F$-free process constructs a maximal $F$-free hypergraph as follows. Consider a random ordering of the hyperedges of the complete $k$-uniform hypergraph $K_n^k$ on $n$ vertices. Start with the empty hypergraph on $n$ vertices. Successively consider the hyperedges $e$ of $K_n^k$ in the given ordering, and add $e$ to the existing hypergraph provided that $e$ does not create a copy of $F$. We show that asymptotically almost surely this process terminates at a hy…
Let $L$ be a simplicial complex. In this paper, we study random sub-hypergraphs and random sub-complexes of $L$. By considering the minimal complex that a sub-hypergraph can be embedded in and the maximal complex that can be embedded in a sub-hypergraph, we define some maps on the space of probability functions on sub-hypergraphs of $L$. We study the compositions of these maps as well as their actions on the space of probability functions.
An oriented $k$-uniform hypergraph is said to have Property O if for every linear order of the vertex set, there is some edge oriented consistently with the linear order. Recently Duffus, Kay and Rödl investigated the minimum number $f(k)$ of edges in a $k$-uniform hypergaph with Property O. They proved that $k! \leq f(k) \leq (k^2 \ln k) k!$, where the upper bound holds for $k$ sufficiently large. In this short note we improve their upper bound by a factor of $k \ln k$, showing that $f(k) \le \left(\lfloor \frac{k}{2} \rfloor +1 \right) k! - \lfloor \frac{k}{2} \rfloor (k-1)!$ for every $k\ge…
Let $H$ be a random $k$-uniform $n$-vertex hypergraph where every $k$-tuple belongs to $H$ independently with probability $p$. We show that for some $\varepsilon_k > 0$, if $p \geq n^{-\varepsilon_k}$, then asymptotically almost surely $H$ contains an $\left( n , k , k - 1 \right)$-Steiner System. Our main tool is Keevash's method of Randomized Algebraic Constructions.
A h-uniform hypergraph H=(V,E) is called (l,k)-orientable if there exists an assignment of each hyperedge e to exactly l of its vertices such that no vertex is assigned more than k hyperedges. Let H_{n,m,h} be a hypergraph, drawn uniformly at random from the set of all h-uniform hypergraphs with n vertices and m edges. In this paper, we determine the threshold of the existence of a (l,k)-orientation of H_{n,m,h} for k>=1 and h>l>=1, extending recent results motivated by applications such as cuckoo hashing or load balancing with guaranteed maximum load. Our proof combines the local weak converg…
Let $Ω_q=Ω_q(H)$ denote the set of proper $[q]$-colorings of the hypergraph $H$. Let $Γ_q$ be the graph with vertex set $Ω_q$ and an edge ${σ,τ\}$ where $σ,τ$ are colorings iff $h(σ,τ)=1$. Here $h(σ,τ)$ is the Hamming distance $|\{v\in V(H):σ(v)\neqτ(v)\}|$. We show that if $H=H_{n,m;k},\,k\geq 2$, the random $k$-uniform hypergraph with $V=[n]$ and $m=dn/k$ then w.h.p. $Γ_q$ is connected if $d$ is sufficiently large and $q\gtrsim (d/\log d)^{1/(k-1)}$.
In this paper we show that $e/n$ is the sharp threshold for the existence of tight Hamilton cycles in random $k$-uniform hypergraphs, for all $k\ge 4$. When $k=3$ we show that $1/n$ is an asymptotic threshold. We also determine thresholds for the existence of other types of Hamilton cycles.
We prove that for integers $2 \leq \ell < k$ and a small constant $c$, if a $k$-uniform hypergraph with linear minimum codegree is randomly `perturbed' by changing non-edges to edges independently at random with probability $p \geq O(n^{-(k-\ell)-c})$, then with high probability the resulting $k$-uniform hypergraph contains a Hamilton $\ell$-cycle. This complements a recent analogous result for Hamilton $1$-cycles due to Krivelevich, Kwan and Sudakov, and a comparable theorem in the graph case due to Bohman, Frieze and Martin.
The notion of spectrum of first-order properties introduced by J. Spencer for Erdos-Renyi random graph is considered in relation to random uniform hypergraphs. We study properties of spectrum for first-order formulae with bounded quantifier depth and estimate the values of minimum and maximum points of this spectrum. We also consider the set of limit points of the spectrum and give a bound for its minimum value.
We present progress on the problem of asymptotically describing the adjacency eigenvalues of random and complete uniform hypergraphs. There is a natural conjecture arising from analogy with random matrix theory that connects these spectra to that of the all-ones hypermatrix. Several of the ingredients along a possible path to this conjecture are established, and may be of independent interest in spectral hypergraph/hypermatrix theory. In particular, we provide a bound on the spectral radius of the symmetric Bernoulli hyperensemble, and show that the spectrum of the complete \(k\)-uniform hyper…
We say that a $k$-uniform hypergraph $C$ is a Hamilton cycle of type $\ell$, for some $1\le \ell \le k$, if there exists a cyclic ordering of the vertices of $C$ such that every edge consists of $k$ consecutive vertices and for every pair of consecutive edges $E_{i-1},E_i$ in $C$ (in the natural ordering of the edges) we have $|E_{i-1}-E_i|=\ell$. We prove that for $\ell \le k\le 2\ell$, with high probability almost all edges of a random $k$-uniform hypergraph $H(n,p,k)$ with $p(n)\gg \log^2 n/n$ can be decomposed into edge disjoint type $\ell$ Hamilton cycles. We also provide sufficient condi…
We study the problem of sampling almost uniform proper $q$-colourings in $k$-uniform simple hypergraphs with maximum degree $Δ$. For any $δ> 0$, if $k \geq\frac{20(1+δ)}δ$ and $q \geq 100Δ^{\frac{2+δ}{k-4/δ-4}}$, the running time of our algorithm is $\tilde{O}(\mathrm{poly}(Δk)\cdot n^{1.01})$, where $n$ is the number of vertices. Our result requires fewer colours than previous results for general hypergraphs (Jain, Pham, and Voung, 2021; He, Sun, and Wu, 2021), and does not require $Ω(\log n)$ colours unlike the work of Frieze and Anastos (2017).
In this paper the problem of finding various spanning structures in random hypergraphs is studied. We notice that a general result of Riordan [Spanning subgraphs of random graphs, Combinatorics, Probability & Computing 9 (2000), no. 2, 125-148] can be adapted from random graphs to random $r$-uniform hypergaphs and provide sufficient conditions when a random $r$-uniform hypergraph $\mathcal{H}^{(r)}(n,p)$ contains a given spanning structure a.a.s. We also discuss several spanning structures such as cube-hypergraphs, lattices, spheres and Hamilton cycles in hypergraphs. Moreover, we study univer…
Recent works of Alon-Shapira and Rödl-Schacht have demonstrated that every hereditary property of undirected graphs or hypergraphs is testable with one-sided error; informally, this means that if a graph or hypergraph satisfies that property "locally" with sufficiently high probability, then it can be perturbed (or "repaired") into a graph or hypergraph which satisfies that property "globally". In this paper we make some refinements to these results, some of which may be surprising. In the positive direction, we strengthen the results to cover hereditary properties of multiple directed polychr…
The phase transition in the size of the giant component in random graphs is one of the most well-studied phenomena in random graph theory. For hypergraphs, there are many possible generalisations of the notion of a component, and for all but the simplest example, the phase transition phenomenon was first proved by Cooley, Kang and Person. In this paper we build on this and determine the asymptotic size of the unique giant component.
Denote by an $\ell$-component a connected $b$-uniform hypergraph with $k$ edges and $k(b-1) - \ell$ vertices. We prove that the expected number of creations of $\ell$-component during a random hypergraph process tends to 1 as $\ell$ and $b$ tend to $\infty$ with the total number of vertices $n$ such that $\ell = o(\sqrt[3]{\frac{n}{b}})$. Under the same conditions, we also show that the expected number of vertices that ever belong to an $\ell$-component is approximately $12^{1/3} (b-1)^{1/3} \ell^{1/3} n^{2/3}$. As an immediate consequence, it follows that with high probability the largest $\e…
In this paper, we study the spectra of regular hypergraphs following the definitions from Feng and Li (1996). Our main result is an analog of Alon's conjecture for the spectral gap of the random regular hypergraphs. We then relate the second eigenvalues to both its expansion property and the mixing rate of the non-backtracking random walk on regular hypergraphs. We also prove the spectral gap for the non-backtracking operator of a random regular hypergraph introduced in Angelini et al. (2015). Finally, we obtain the convergence of the empirical spectral distribution (ESD) for random regular hy…
We introduce a new procedure for generating the binomial random graph/hypergraph models, referred to as \emph{online sprinkling}. As an illustrative application of this method, we show that for any fixed integer $k\geq 3$, the binomial $k$-uniform random hypergraph $H^{k}_{n,p}$ contains $N:=(1-o(1))\binom{n-1}{k-1}p$ edge-disjoint perfect matchings, provided $p\geq \frac{\log^{C}n}{n^{k-1}}$, where $C:=C(k)$ is an integer depending only on $k$. Our result for $N$ is asymptotically best optimal and for $p$ is optimal up to the $polylog(n)$ factor.
In the random hypergraph $H_{n,p;k}$ each possible $k$-tuple appears independently with probability $p$. A loose Hamilton cycle is a cycle in which every pair of adjacent edges intersects in a single vertex. We prove that if $p n^{k-1}/\log n$ tends to infinity with $n$ then $$\lim_{\substack{n\to \infty 2(k-1) |n}}\Pr(H_{n,p;k}\ contains\ a\ loose\ Hamilton\ cycle)=1.$$ This is asymptotically best possible.
In the random hypergraph H=H(n,p;3) each possible triple appears independently with probability p. A loose Hamilton cycle can be described as a sequence of edges {x_i,y_i,x_{i+1}\} for i=1,2,...,n/2. We prove that there exists an absolute constant K>0 such that if p>K\log n/n^2 then lim_{n->oo 4 |n}}Pr(H(n,p;3) contains a loose Hamilton cycle)=1.
We prove a lower bound on the length of the longest $j$-tight cycle in a $k$-uniform binomial random hypergraph for any $2 \le j \le k-1$. We first prove the existence of a $j$-tight path of the required length. The standard "sprinkling" argument is not enough to show that this path can be closed to a $j$-tight cycle -- we therefore show that the path has many extensions, which is sufficient to allow the sprinkling to close the cycle.
For a $k$-uniform hypergraph $\mathcal{H}$ on vertex set $\{1, ..., n\}$ we associate a particular signed incidence matrix $M(\mathcal{H})$ over the integers. For $\mathcal{H} \sim \mathcal{H}_k(n, p)$ an Erdős--Rényi random $k$-uniform hypergraph, $\text{coker}(M(\mathcal{H}))$ is then a model for random abelian groups. Motivated by conjectures from the study of random simplicial complexes we show that for $p = ω(1/n^{k - 1})$, $\text{coker}(M(\mathcal{H}))$ is torsion-free.
