A particular type of dyadic model for the magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) with forward energy cascade is studied. The model includes intermittency dimension $δ$ in the nonlinear scales. It is shown that when $δ$ is small, positive solution with large initial data for either the dyadic MHD model or the dyadic Hall MHD develops blow-up in finite time.
We construct non-unique Leray-Hopf solutions for some dyadic models for magnetohydrodynamics when the intermittency dimension $δ$ is less than 1. In contrast, uniqueness of Leray-Hopf solution is established in the case of $δ\geq 1$. Analogous results on uniqueness and non-uniqueness of Leray-Hopf solution are also obtained for dyadic models of MHD with fractional diffusion.
We partially answer a question raised by Kiselev and Zlatos in \cite{MR2180809}; in the generalized dyadic model of the Euler equation, a blow-up of $H^{1/3+δ}$-norm occurs. We recover a few previous blow-up results for various related dyadic models as corollaries.
We derive dyadic models for the magnetohydrodynamics with Hall effect by including the intermittency dimension as a parameter. For such dyadic models, existence of global weak solutions is established. In addition, local strong solution is obtained; while global strong solution is obtained in the case of high intermittency dimension. Moreover, we show that positive solution with large initial data develops blow-up in finite time provided the intermittency dimension is lower than a threshold.
We study two dyadic models for incompressible ideal magnetohydrodynamics, one with a uni-directional energy cascade and the other one with both forward and backward energy cascades. Global existence of weak solutions and local well-posedness are established for both models. In addition, solutions to the model with uni-directional energy cascade associated with positive initial data are shown to develop blow-up at a finite time. Moreover, a set of fixed points is found for each model. Linear instability about some particular fixed points is proved.
We consider the dyadic model with viscosity and additive Gaussian noise as a simplified version of the stochastic Navier-Stokes equations, with the purpose of studying uniqueness and emergence of singularities. We prove path-wise uniqueness and absence of blow-up in the intermediate intensity of the non-linearity, morally corresponding to the 3D case, and blow-up for stronger intensity. Moreover, blow-up happens with probability one for regular initial data.
In this paper, we prove some blow-up criteria for the 3D Boussinesq system with zero heat conductivity and MHD system and Landau-Lifshitz equations in a bounded domain.
We study the dyadic model of the Navier-Stokes equations introduced by Katz and Pavlović. They showed a finite time blow-up in the case where the dissipation degree $α$ is less than 1/4. In this paper we prove the existence of weak solutions for all $α$, energy inequality for every weak solution with nonnegative initial datum starting from any time, local regularity for $α> 1/3$, and global regularity for $α\geq 1/2$. In addition, we prove a finite time blow-up in the case where $α<1/3$. It is remarkable that the model with $α=1/3$ enjoys the same estimates on the nonlinear term as the 4D Navi…
This paper concerns with the explicit blowup phenomenon for 3D incompressible MHD equations in R^3. More precisely, we find two family of explicit blowup solutions for 3D incompressible MHD equations in R^3. One family of solutions admit the smooth initial data, and the initial data of another family of solutions are not smooth. The energy of those solutions is infinite. Moreover, our results tell us that the blowup phenomenon of 3D incompressible MHD can only take place in the velocity field of the fluid, but no blowup for the magnetic field.
We first give the local well-posedness of strong solutions to the Cauchy problem of the 3D two-fluid MHD equations, then study the blow-up criterion of the strong solutions. By means of the Fourier frequency localization and Bony's paraproduct decomposition, it is proved that strong solution $(u,b)$ can be extended after $t=T$ if either $u\in L^q_T(\dot B^{0}_{p,\infty})$ with $\frac{2}{q}+\frac{3}{p}\le 1$ and $b\in L^1_T(\dot B^{0}_{\infty,\infty})$, or $(ω, J)\in L^q_T(\dot B^{0}_{p,\infty})$ with $\frac{2}{q}+\frac{3}{p}\le 2$, where $ω(t)=\na\times u $ denotes the vorticity of the velocit…
Katz and Pavlovic recently proposed a dyadic model of the Euler equations for which they proved finite time blow-up in the $H^{3/2+ε}$ Sobolev norm. It is shown that their model can be reduced to the dyadic inviscid Burgers equation where nonlinear interactions are restricted to dyadic wavenumbers. The inviscid Burgers equation exhibits finite time blow-up in $H^α$, for $α\ge 1/2$, but its dyadic restriction is even more singular, exhibiting blow-up for any $α> 0$. Friedlander and Pavlovic developed a closely related model for which they also prove finite time blow-up in $H^{3/2+ε}$. Some inco…
A shell-type model of an inviscid fluid, previously considered in the literature, is investigated in absence of external force. Energy dissipation of positive solutions is proved and decay of energy like $t^{-2}$ is established. Self-similar decaying positive solutions are introduced and proved to exist and classified. Coalescence and blow-up are obtained as a consequence, in the class of arbitrary sign solutions.
In this paper, the 3-D compressible MHD equations with initial vacuum or infinity electric conductivity is considered. We prove that the $L^\infty$ norms of the deformation tensor $D(u)$ and the absolute temperature $θ$ control the possible blow-up (see [5][18][20]) for strong solutions, which means that if a solution of the compressible MHD equations is initially regular and loses its regularity at some later time, then the formation of singularity must be caused by losing the bound of $D(u)$ and $θ$ as the critical time approaches. The viscosity coefficients are only restricted by the physic…
Properties of an infinite system of nonlinearly coupled ordinary differential equations are discussed. This system models some properties present in the equations of motion for an inviscid fluid such as the skew symmetry and the 3-dimensional scaling of the quadratic nonlinearity. In a companion paper [6] it is proved that every solution for the system with forcing blows up in finite time in the Sobolev $H^{5/6}$ norm. In this present paper, it is proved that after the blow-up time all solutions stay in $H^s$, $s<5/6$ for almost all time and the energy dissipates. Moreover, it is proved that t…
We show that the capacity of a class of plane condensers is comparable to the capacity of corresponding "dyadic condensers". As an application, we show that for plane condensers in that class the capacity blows up as the distance between the plates shrinks, but there can be no asymptotic estimate of the blow-up.
In this paper, we prove a blow-up criterion in terms of the magnetic field $H$ and the mass density $ρ$ for the strong solutions to the $3$D compressible isentropic MHD equations with zero magnetic diffusion and initial vacuum. More precisely, we show that the $L^\infty$ norms of $(H,ρ)$ control the possible blow-up (see \cite{olga}\cite{zx}) for strong solutions, which means that if a solution of the compressible isentropic non-resistive MHD equations is initially smooth and loses its regularity at some later time, then the formation of singularity must be caused by losing the bound of the $L…
In this paper, we establish an optimal blow-up criterion for classical solutions to the incompressible resistive Hall-magnetohydrodynamic equations. We also prove two global-in-time existence results of the classical solutions for small initial data, the smallness conditions of which are given by the suitable Sobolev and the Besov norms respectively. Although the Sobolev space version is already an improvement of the corrresponding result in \cite{Chae-Degond-Liu}, the optimality in terms of the scaling property is achieved via the Besov space estimate. The special property of the energy estim…
In this paper, we prove that suitable weak solution $(u,b)$ of the 3-D MHD equations can be extended beyond $T$ if $u\in L^\infty(0,T;L^3(\R^3))$ and the horizontal components $b_h$ of the magnetic field satisfies the well-known Ladyzhenskaya-Prodi-Serrin condition.
This paper establishes a blow-up criterion of strong solutions to the two-dimensional compressible magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flows. The criterion depends on the density, but is independent of the velocity and the magnetic field. More precisely, once the strong solutions blow up, the $L^{\infty}$-norm for the density tends to infinity. In particular, the vacuum in the solutions is allowed.
We study an initial boundary value problem for the 3D magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) equations of compressible fluids in $\R^3$. We establish a blow-up criterion for the local strong solutions in terms of the density and magnetic field. Namely, if the density is away from vacuum ($ρ= 0$) and the concentration of mass ($ρ=\infty$) and if the magnetic field is bounded above in terms of $L^\infty$-norm, then a local strong solution can be continued globally in time.

We study the blow-up criterion of smooth solutions to the 3D MHD equations. By means of the Littlewood-Paley decomposition, we prove a Beale-Kato-Majda type blow-up criterion of smooth solutions via the vorticity of velocity only, i. e. $\sup_{j\in\Z}\int_0^T\|Δ_j(\na\times u)\|_\infty dt$, where $Δ_j$ is a frequency localization on $|ξ|\approx 2^j$.
This paper is concerned with a Cauchy problem for the three-dimensional (3D) nonhomogeneous incompressible heat conducting magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) equations in the whole space. First of all, we establish a weak Serrin-type blowup criterion for the strong solutions. It is shown that for the Cauchy problem of the 3D nonhomogeneous heat conducting MHD equations, the strong solution exists globally if the velocity satisfies the weak Serrin's condition. In particular, this criterion is independent of the absolute temperature and magnetic field. Then as an immediate application, we prove the globa…
In this paper, we consider the 3-D compressible isentropic MHD equations with infinity electric conductivity. The existence of unique local classical solutions is firstly established when the initial data is arbitrarily large, contains vacuum and satisfies some initial layer compatibility condition. The initial mass density needs not be bounded away from zero and may vanish in some open set. Moreover, we prove that the $L^\infty$ norm of the deformation tensor of velocity gradients controls the possible blow-up (see \cite{olga}\cite{zx}) for classical (or strong) solutions, which means that if…
This paper is denoted to the study of dynamical behavior near explicit finite time blowup solutions for three dimensional incompressible Magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) equations. More precisely, we find a family of explicit finite time blowup solutions admitted smooth initial data and infinite energy in whole space $\mathbb{R}^3$. After that, we prove asymptotic stability of those explicit finite time blowup solutions for $3$D incompressible Magnetohydrodynamics equations in a smooth bounded domain with free surface $$ Ω_{t}:=\Big\{(t,x_1,x_2,x_3):0\leq x_i\leq\sqrt{\overline{T}^*-t},\quad t\in(0,…
We address the compressible magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) equations in $\mathbb{R}^3$ and establish a blow-up criterion for the local strong solutions in terms of the density only. Namely, if the density is away from vacuum ($ρ= 0$) and the concentration of mass ($ρ=\infty$), then a local strong solution can be continued globally in time. The results generalise and strengthen the previous ones in the sense that there is no magnetic field present in the criterion and the assumption on the pressure is significantly relaxed. The proof is based on some new a priori estimates for three-dimensional com…
This paper establishes a blowup criterion for the three-dimensional viscous, compressible, and heat conducting magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flows. It is essentially shown that for the Cauchy problem and the initial-boundary-value one of the three-dimensional compressible MHD flows with initial density allowed to vanish, the strong or smooth solution exists globally if the density is bounded from above and the velocity satisfies the Serrin's condition. Therefore, if the Serrin norm of the velocity remains bounded, it is not possible for other kinds of singularities (such as vacuum states vanish or…
We prove existence, uniqueness, and higher-order global regularity of strong solutions to a particular Voigt-regularization of the three-dimensional inviscid resistive Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) equations. Specifically, the coupling of a resistive magnetic field to the Euler-Voigt model is introduced to form an inviscid regularization of the inviscid resistive MHD system. The results hold in both the whole space $\nR^3$ and in the context of periodic boundary conditions. Weak solutions for this regularized model are also considered, and proven to exist globally in time, but the question of uniq…
