Simultaneous recovery of a locally rough interface and the embedded obstacle with its surrounding medium

Consider the scattering of time-harmonic point sources by an infinite locally rough interface with bounded obstacles embedded in the lower half-space. The model problem is first reduced to an equivalent integral equation formulation defined in a bounded domain, where the well-posedness is obtained in $L^p$ by the classical Fredholm theory. Then a global uniqueness theorem is proved for the inverse problem of recovering the locally rough interface, the embedded obstacles and the wave number in the lower-half space by means of near-field measurements above the interface.

Recovery of an embedded obstacle and its surrounding medium by formally-determined scattering data

We consider an inverse acoustic scattering problem in simultaneously recovering an embedded obstacle and its surrounding inhomogeneous medium by formally determined far-field data. It is shown that the knowledge of the scattering amplitude with a fixed incident direction and all observation angles along with frequencies from an open interval can be used to uniquely identify the embedded obstacle, sound-soft or sound-hard disregarding the surrounding medium. On finding an obstacle embedded in the rough background medium via the enclosure method in the time domain

A mathematical method for through-wall imaging via wave phenomena in the time domain is introduced. The method makes use of a single reflected wave over a finite time interval and gives us a criterion whether a penetrable obstacle exists or not in a general rough background medium. Moreover, if the obstacle exists, the lower and upper estimates of the distance between the obstacle and the center point of the support of the initial data are given. Recovery of an embedded obstacle and the surrounding medium for Maxwell's system

In this paper, we are concerned with the inverse electromagnetic scattering problem of recovering a complex scatterer by the corresponding electric far-field data. The complex scatterer consists of an inhomogeneous medium and a possibly embedded perfectly electric conducting (PEC) obstacle. Stable determination of surface impedance on a rough obstacle by far field data

We treat the stability of determining the boundary impedance of an obstacle by scattering data, with a single incident field. A previous result by Sincich (SIAM J. Math. Anal. 38, (2006), 434-451) showed a log stability when the boundary of the obstacle is assumed to be C^{1,1}-smooth. We prove that, when the obstacle boundary is merely Lipschitz, a log-log type stability still holds.
